Mysterious and not amenable rational explanation events are constantly taking place in all corners of the planet. (website)

However, not all of them are known worldwide. Only the most amazing supernatural incidents become the subject of conversation of the inhabitants of all countries. So, everyone knows about the American Area 51, where the military studied an unidentified aircraft shot down by them with an alien corpse on board, or about Egyptian pyramids, near which trees grow several times faster, and the water is purified by itself.

Undoubtedly, in such a large and eventful country like Russia, there were also many paranormal events that struck the imagination of not only Russians themselves, but also all earthlings. Therefore, many of us may ask a logical question: what kind of supernatural phenomena that happened directly to our people are best known abroad?

Tunguska meteorite

This amazing event took place back in the days of Russian Empire... On the morning of June 30, 1908 in the area Siberian river Podkamennaya Tunguska there was a colossal explosion with a capacity of fifty megatons of TNT equivalent, which is comparable to the power of the largest hydrogen bomb. As a result of the explosion, trees were felled over an area of more than two thousand square kilometers, and glass flew out in houses within a radius of several hundred kilometers from the epicenter.

The event, accompanied by an intense glow of the sky, was recorded by all observatories on the planet. According to the official version, it exploded over Siberia, but for some reason its fragments were not found. Many experts suggest that it was not the meteorite that was to blame, but Russia's testing of a secret weapon, or the experiments of the legendary physicist Nikola Tesla, or the tricks of the aliens. To this day, this incident is shrouded in a veil of mystery, and world scientists are still puzzling over it.

Soviet cosmonauts, as pioneers of space research, had a hard time, because due to imperfect equipment, emergency situations arose very often. Space flights were aggravated by the fact that our star-planters suffered from aliens who flew close to them. Many Soviet cosmonauts returning from orbit reported that unidentified flying objects were approaching their ships.

The supernatural has always attracted the attention of many people of all nationalities on all continents. This inexhaustible, permanent interest has invariably influenced the myths, religious beliefs, folklore and even ordinary everyday life of every nation. All this heritage can be studied and discussed indefinitely. In this article, we will touch upon this phenomenon only from one side - from the side of the inhabitants of which we usually call "supernatural beings." A list and description of all such creatures in full would make up a whole library, so we will limit ourselves to the most famous and popular in modern culture creatures.

Gnomes

The word "gnome" in translation from Latin denotes underground dweller... These creatures are known in almost all regions of the earth, where there is a mountainous area or desert. The traditional, familiar to everyone, the image of a gnome comes from German-Scandinavian folklore, but is also known among the Slavs (for example, the Polish dwarves are relatives of the gnomes). Their dwarf people, living in mountain undergrounds, are also found in the Urals, where they are sometimes called chudy or scarecrows. According to popular legends, these supernatural beings are engaged in jewelry, the prey of all kinds of treasures and, among other things, have significant knowledge in medicine.

The nature of the gnomes

The word "gnome" itself, according to one version, began to be used in the 16th century by Paracelsus, the famous European doctor and occultist. He used it to refer to the spirits of the earth - the elementals. The latter are supernatural beings that set in motion the world, by acting on one of the four primary elements - earth, air, fire or water. So, the spirits, called by Paracelsus gnomes, just lived in the element of the earth. Later, this term began to denote the entire list of supernatural beings living, according to legends, underground and united by common features - appearance, craft and so on.

Goblins

Goblins are another category of human supernatural neighbors. By and large they can be regarded as distant cousins of gnomes. They also live underground, in mountain gorges dotted with caves. Like the gnomes in many legends, goblins do not tolerate the light of the sun well. But if the gnomes are still representatives of Scandinavian and Germanic folklore, then the goblin is a character from Romanesque culture... These supernatural beings got their very name from the Old French language.

The appearance of the goblins is described in very different ways in the legends. But the unchanging feature of all of them is their incredible ugliness. Goblins are human-like, ranging in height from thirty centimeters to two meters. When necessary, they know how to turn into beautiful people... But they are always given out long ears, claws on hands and ominous animal eyes. The only exception to the rule is the English hobgoblins, who play the role of cute brownies in British folklore, which we will talk about next.

Brownies

The creatures that are known in Russia as brownies are perhaps the most widespread character in world folklore. Of course, they are described in different ways and interact with them in different ways, but everywhere these creatures top the list of supernatural beings. IN Slavic tribes they were also called kut gods. The brownie lives with the family in their home and monitors the economy, safety and a favorable atmosphere. However, if the owners are careless, then he can appear as a formidable, frightening creature. There was no consensus about where this guardian of home comfort comes from. Someone believed that this was a manifestation of the first ancestor, the progenitor of the family. Others insisted it was a deceased family member. With the Christianization of Russia, faith in brownies did not disappear, but opinions began to prevail among the people that this was either a spirit sent by God, or, on the contrary, a petty demon, a devil inhabited in order to harm the inhabitants as much as possible. However, it was also believed that unrepentant sinners became brownies, whom God sent as punishment to serve people as guardian spirits.

Russian brownies

One way or another, the brownie was the one on whom the well-being of the family depended. Therefore, they always tried to build with him good relationship... It was customary to feed the brownie, leaving him in special place a plate of food. A grateful spirit protected the dwelling from thieves, from fire, averted troubles and misfortunes. The brownie was especially concerned about livestock, and mainly about horses. It was believed that at night he was busy in the stable, taking care that the horse did not remain hungry or unkempt. Like other supernatural beings, in Russia it was believed that the brownie could predict the future. For example, if at night you hear a roar, howl, crying and similar ominous signs, then you have to wait for trouble. If at night there is quiet laughter, joyful exclamations and the like, then a pleasant surprise awaits the family.

In some legends, female brownies also appear. In some cases, we are even talking about entire families of brownies. However, this is much less common in folklore.

Dragons

A very popular supernatural creature, with a list of hundreds of species around the world, are dragons. Currently, their popularity is growing, thanks to the massive passion for the fantasy genre in art. Legends about supernatural beings, similar in appearance to huge lizards, cutting through the air and breathing fire, are known literally on all continents from all tribes and peoples. Story line in them can be very different, respectively, different and cultural codes and the symbols they carry. In Asia, for example, dragons are the wisest creatures who descended from heaven and gave people knowledge, culture, medicine, taught them magic, agriculture and morality. In the West, on the contrary, they were chthonic monsters, carrying with them only death and destruction. In Christian times, the dragon was often associated with the devil, but at the same time it was a favorite heraldic symbol. The battle with him for the sake of saving a woman or gaining wealth is a characteristic plot for European as well as Slavic folklore.

Unicorns

Our list of supernatural beings continues as follows interesting character like a unicorn. He is usually depicted in the form of a horse with a beautiful straight horn growing from the forehead.

The earliest images of this animal come from India, and their age is estimated at four thousand years. Gradually from Asia, this character penetrated ancient greece and Rome. However, there he was considered a very real animal. Such beliefs spread among the Greeks thanks to a physician named Ctesias, who spent many years in Persia, and upon returning to his homeland in Hellas, described in his writings massive Indian donkeys with a horn growing on their foreheads. All this took place in the 5th century and was later popularized by Aristotle. The traditional equine appearance of a unicorn today was not originally taken for granted. He was represented with the body of a goat and a bull, and according to some descriptions, this creature looked more like a rhinoceros.

Unicorns in late legends

In late Western European myths, the unicorn appeared as a fierce creature, meeting with which promised death. But, being the personification of morality and holiness, this creature could only be tamed by a virgin and kept in submission only by a golden bridle. It is not surprising that with the spread of Catholicism, this animal became one of the emblems of the Virgin Mary. His enemies were elephants and lions. Belief in them was so strong in Europe and Russia that as early as the 19th century, naturalistic studies were carried out to find out whether supernatural beings called unicorns actually exist or not. Some European monarchs, including those who were proud of the fact that their wands are attributes royal power- made from the horn of this animal. There was even a European market for the sale of these horns, in which Russian merchants(mainly from the Pomors) played an important role. Today it is established that these horns actually belonged to narwhals.

Werewolves

Werewolves are another supernatural creature whose list of varieties exceeds every conceivable limit. But they all have common feature- they have the ability to transform from humans to animals, and vice versa. Most often these are wolves, but in fact legends are known in which heroes turned into birds, and into fish, and other animals. The difference between werewolf reincarnations from other magical transformations is that they do it either of their own free will or under certain conditions, but in any case they turn into people back. In Russian mythology, even one of the heroes, the Werewolf, had this ability, according to folk legends, and the prince. Similar stories are extremely popular in Indian, Scandinavian and Celtic mythologies. In addition, the ability for such transformations was almost everywhere attributed to sorcerers and witches. During the Inquisition, the accusation of such an act served as a pretext for initiating an investigation into connections with the devil.

Sometimes werewolves were distinguished from birth and those who became such for some reason. A werewolf could be born if his mother ate the meat of an animal killed by a wolf during pregnancy, or carried the curse of werewolf herself. And the ability to turn into animals could be acquired either magically, or become an apostate. It was believed that in the latter case a person becomes a werewolf, however, after death. The latter are also joined by children who died not baptized. Accordingly, some werewolves experience this ability as a curse, others use it as a magical gift and are able to control this skill.

Ghosts and ghosts

Ghosts are perhaps the only supernatural beings whose list and photos can be viewed from a strictly scientific standpoint. This phenomenon is so unprecedented that it goes beyond the boundaries of myths and legends and is part of Everyday life... And nowadays there are a lot of people, even who grew up in an advanced civilization, but, moreover, are confident in the existence of ghosts. Moreover, great amount eyewitnesses declare that they have had or are in contact with them. It is not only about mediums and parapsychologists, but also about specialists who are within the framework of rigorous academic science. However, the number of the latter is small. But the amount of testimony, mysterious photographs and video footage of ghosts is overwhelming.

According to the most common beliefs, ghosts are the souls of deceased people. Why do they appear in this world and what is their nature - there is no consensus. But almost no one doubts that the dead appear in the guise of translucent silhouettes.

Mermaids

Rounding out our list of supernatural creatures are mermaids. In modern culture, this is a very ambivalent character. It must be said right away that beautiful maidens with fish tails are not mermaids, they are sea maidens. Mermaids are girls of completely human appearance, originating from Slavic legends. In pre-Christian times, they were considered the spirits of the rivers, and after Christianization, it was widely believed that drowned women who committed suicide became mermaids. They are not accepted for them in the afterlife, and therefore they are forced to serve their sentences on earth, living at the bottom of the river. The only night the mermaids come ashore is the night

Conclusion

As already mentioned, the characters listed above are far from all supernatural beings. Their list can be continued up to tens and hundreds of thousands of names, if you delve into the beliefs of each nation in detail. The curious, no doubt, will be able to do this and find many more new unknown material.

Now many people constantly talk about otherworldly forces and extrasensory perception. On TV, programs are shown that tell about those who have a special gift. However, many people are skeptical of the supernatural and consider such transmissions to be fiction. But is it? Is it true that all kinds of psychics and programs about them are just a "divorce" of naive viewers, or, perhaps, there is still something in this world that cannot be seen by ordinary people human eye?

Law of energy conservation

Even the most inveterate skeptics and materialists should remember the law of conservation of energy, which never disappears anywhere. All information that a person accumulates throughout life, all his feelings and emotions - this is energy. As we used to say, the soul. And after death human soul as a bunch of energy and information turns out to be in the energy flow that is around the earth. But, as we all know, the stronger the information was, the stronger the feelings, the stronger this energy. Therefore, it often happens that even after death, a person is felt on this earth. Everything is explained very simply: he is either too attached to someone living now and his feelings are so strong that even after death there is energy, or before death he experienced severe stress and emotions, so the energy also increased significantly in size and became tangible.

Non-materialists believe that human energy does not simply exist, it also has intelligence. That is, the soul is, in fact, a person. And the body is just a shell, like any earthly clothing. Their opinion is confirmed by the appearance of the dead in their dreams, visions and so on. On the other hand, it is difficult to say that such manifestations of the otherworldly essence can one hundred percent confirm the presence of reason in the so-called soul. Perhaps when we see and feel something, our subconscious mind simply draws energy from the worldwide flow of information. But nevertheless, the fact that human energy and energy does not disappear into nowhere, and in special cases may even become visible, is still worth recognizing. In addition, the reality of the appearance of otherworldly entities, called souls, is confirmed by a huge number of people. Moreover, some of them believe in otherworldly forces, while others are skeptical. Therefore people in different words describe what they saw, but the meaning always remains the same - the dead come to them, moreover, as relatives and friends, as completely unfamiliar personalities, about whom, even with a strong desire, they could not get information from the energy shell of the earth.

Mythical scum

There are many stories, myths and legends about various otherworldly beings and substances. Each of us from childhood is familiar with goblin, brownies, mermaids, werewolves, vampires and so on. But are these creatures a figment of folk fantasy, or are they really real? Firstly, it is worth thinking about the fact that every nation of the world has its own legends and myths, but if you ignore the different names of creatures and some differences in their descriptions, all stories about the otherworldly describe several dozen similar creatures. For example, in any mythology, there are stories about a creature very similar to our brownie or goblin. In the lakes of all countries and peoples must necessarily live pretty girls, bringing death to those who fall into their eyes. And if such a large number of people from different parts of the world describe such creatures, then perhaps they still exist, because thousands of people cannot fantasize the same way.

In addition, unlike the dead, people see such entities much more often. Almost every one of us during our life has had at least one story associated with some otherworldly creatures. In fact, as psychics say, such entities are also energy. They appear at the moment when there is a strong surge of energy. Let's say there is some kind of mass murder, many people are in pain and fear, and so on. In this case, at the place where the incident happened, a kind of strong energy imprint is formed, which does not disappear for many years and frightens people. Of course, this bundle of energy can be not only bad, but also good. If you constantly imagine a certain entity, such as, for example, your angel, endowing it with the qualities of an assistant and a defender, as a result, you can really have a positive energy substance near you that will protect you and help you achieve what you want.

But if all this is just energy, then why do people see similar creatures? Perhaps the point here is that such entities once had real prototypes... After all, it is not known what happened on our land earlier. There are suggestions that an intelligent race existed here with the remnants of whose representatives our distant ancestors met. Perhaps this race possessed certain technologies that were mistaken for supernatural powers, perhaps it mutated, so our mythological characters look like women with fish tails and men with the body of a horse. Of course, this is just a theory, but it may well have a right to life if you look at the supernatural from a more materialistic point of view. And that is why, the descendants of those first people see supernatural beings in similar images. They simply select the most suitable images from their past and connect them with energetic entities that have always existed on any planet and in any dimension. Due to the fact that a large number of people begin to give a particular image a certain image, over time it really begins to look like this, because the energies are simply mixed.

That is why, returning to the question of belief or disbelief in otherworldly forces, we can say one thing: the energy and energy of everything that is on this earth is very powerful. She simply cannot go anywhere and be scattered in the world, since there is such a concept as memory. In the meantime, we remember who we are, our energy simply cannot crumble into a thousand pieces and scatter across the universe. In addition, human memory can energize tremendous power... It is memory that has become the core for the creation of various negative entities. So, to believe or not to believe in the other world is your choice.

It's no secret that people are always interested in what is unknown. The most and mysterious creatures arouse genuine interest, as well as influence legends and folklore different countries and peoples.

In this article, we invite you to familiarize yourself with the least known creatures, however, no less scary and frightening. Whether they are mythical is up to you.

There are two alternative versions of the appearance of the wendigo.

  1. Based on the first, it is believed that the brave warrior sold his soul in order to protect his tribe from the impending threat. After the tribe was saved, he went into the forest, and no one else saw him.
  2. Another version says that the wendigo began to lose human appearance due to the use of black magic, and was also a cannibal. In any case, this monster eventually appeared.

Many people compare him with, but outwardly he is completely different from. And the behavior of the Wendigo has significant features.

Growth exceeds the average, but you cannot call it huge. However, he is very thin. From some descriptions, it is clear that sometimes some parts of the body may be missing due to frostbite: toes, the tip of the ear or nose. The body is covered with matted hair, or may be completely bald.

Wendigos love to hunt down their prey. Overtaking a lonely traveler, they begin to scare him by making sounds. When a person begins to look around for the source of the sound, the wendigo attacks.

It will not be possible to escape, because wendigos are very fast and hardy. As a rule, no one succeeds in surviving after meeting this monster.

The only way to kill this monster is to stick an iron or silver blade in the heart.

The folklore of each country is filled with stories of reincarnated people who received new abilities. One of these creatures was the shtriga, or streix.

Being human from birth, they turned into due to the addiction of eating human flesh.

In the Middle Ages, the shtriga belonged to the witches. It is possible that they could be a kind of vampire. Ancient Rome.

Ultimately the strokes are dead mythical creatures, but using the life force of the murdered families, it prolongs its existence.

You can only kill a monster with a hot iron while eating.

Draugi or Draugry

Like the Strigs, they were originally human. But after death they turned into the living dead.

Draugs live in the cemetery, next to the Viking burials. Approaching any settlement, they sow fear and death, destroying everything in their path.

Surprisingly, draugs are mentioned in some books. For example, The Saga of the People from the Sandy Shore tells about Thorolf.

As a draugr, he killed people, after which the valley was empty. Draugs are also mentioned in The Saga of the People of the Sandy Valley.

These monsters love to inhabit the tombs of rich people, thus protecting his property from thieves.

Draugi are strong, have pale skin, as well as capable of increasing in size. After killing a person, the monster first drinks his blood, and then begins to eat him.

It is believed that draugs appear in the form of smoke, being released from their graves.

Icelandic legends say that you can kill a draugr only by chopping off his head, then burn and scatter the ashes over sea water.

These mythical creatures prefer to dwell near sea coasts... Freed from their graves, they look for victims among the sailors.

They can take on different guises, making people scared to death. For example, algae grows instead of a head.

Marine legends say that draugs can take the form of rock or seaweed. Before you step on something like that, you need to spit on it.

If the draug hits the ship in the form of a stone, then the ship is doomed to perish along with the entire crew. And sometimes draugs can be the harbingers of death.

Guli

The word "guli" comes from Arabic myths and means demons. They lived in cemeteries, and according to legend they are the descendants of the Iblis.

Iblis are djinn, which have an analogue in Christianity - Satan. The Iblis harassed women, and if they succeeded, then ghouls appeared.

Iblis could wander on the earth, as Allah checked people in this way: whether Iblis could sow immorality and vice in their heads.

According to some reports, ghouls are those living in the desert, capable of taking the form of hyenas or other animals.

Luring the wanderers inland, the ghouls ate them. They gave preference to children, but sometimes they did not disdain the dead.

Most often, they take the form of werewolves, but can take the form of any creature they kill, including humans and animals.

In order to update their appearance, they, like snakes, drop old skin.

In appearance, it is impossible to tell whether this is a real person or a shape-shifter.

The only thing that gives them away is the glow of the eyes, which can only be seen in video frames or photographs.

Familiar. Black Dogs

Witches wielding black magical abilities, give birth to peculiar animals - familiars.

These mythical creatures are associated with the owner by demonic bonds or magic.

European sorceresses prefer cats, weasels, toads or owls. Shamans use a totem as a familiar.

Black dogs can also be familiars for black witches.

Vintage english legend talks about the Black Shak, who foreshadowed death with his appearance. In 1577 A. Fleming described his appearance in the book "A Strange and Terrible Miracle".

Dogs appear in bright flashes of light, as they disappear, but the place is chosen exclusively by witchcraft.

Japanese legends also mention black dogs, which were sacrificed to cause rain. In Asia, the blood of black dogs was considered a powerful talisman.

Reaper

To summon this creature, you need an altar, as well as a number of magical items for the ritual: human blood and a special cross.

After the Reaper appears, he takes the life of the one who summoned him to restore balance.

The reaper is not a demon, it is just a form of death, which was called a psychopomp.

They served as a kind of guide in afterworld... Charon in Greece, Valkyries in Norway, Anubis in Egypt and so on. Some shamans, for example, are themselves psychopomps.

Reapers have power over time and the minds of people. He can change the vision of the world, of the person himself.

The appearance of the Reaper is different for each individual case, but it is generally believed that he appears in rags or burial clothes.

There is an assumption that Peter Pan was a kind of guide to the afterlife, as the book describes how he accompanied the children on their way after death.

Lycanthropy

In the Middle Ages, this phenomenon was associated with sorcerers who wore magical clothes or a belt.

As they are also called, they covered the body with a potion, put on a special belt and turned into a wolf with tremendous strength and endurance. Later, the myth of the magic belt gradually disappeared.

It is now read that werewolves can turn themselves on a full moon. It is not known how fictional this is, but the Roman writer left one story, which told real events involving a werewolf.

In many folk stories different nations it is believed that werewolves are exiles, vicious people.

In Armenian folklore, there is a mention of women who were possessed by the spirit for their sins. They could turn into wolves and were forced to kill their own children.

IN North America there is a legend about lu-garu who came from France. After conversion, this creature for 101 nights in a row turned into a monster, and during the day it experienced torment and suffering. Most often, they were driven out by people, which angered the lu-garu, contributing to brutality and murder.

You can kill them with silver: a bullet or a blade. But it is also possible to cure lycanthropy. If you kill the progenitor, the one who turned the werewolf, then all those infected with him will be freed.

IN Slavic mythology Volkolak existed. They could become of their own free will. Most often, sorcerers turned into wolves to enhance their abilities.

The evil spirit from old Russian mythology. He was several centimeters tall, his body was covered with black hair, and his head was bald. Anchutka had no heels.

There is an opinion that it is impossible to pronounce his name out loud, otherwise Anchutka will instantly appear in front of you.

The residence is usually a field, bathhouse, or body of water. The main condition is closeness to people, but away from other supernatural beings.

Field anchuts are the most peaceful. Bathhouses and marshes have a perky disposition, they joke evil, putting a person's life in danger.

Swamp girls grab swimmers by the legs and try to drown them, while the bathhouses scare people with strange sounds or appear in scary images.

Anchutki can be invisible. They move fast and are afraid of iron and salt.

Shakes and Navi

Shakes are disease-causing. Most often mentioned in conspiracies.

Introduce themselves as 12 ugly women. Are in connection with evil spirits and when a person is sick, they appear next to him in the form of the devil.

Navi are the spirits of death. Old Russian creatures that send diseases to both people and cattle. Their involvement in disasters was not excluded.

At night they roam the dark streets, killing all travelers. The only way to escape from Navya was not to leave the house, protecting it with amulets.

An infinite number of creatures and monsters are present in various myths and religions. Differing in appearance and abilities, they always created problems for people, and most often killed them.

Of course, the existence of each is not proven, so to believe in them or not is solely your choice.

5 930

Series Supernatural season 14 will consist of 20 episodes, instead of the usual 23. Is this a sign that the end of the series is approaching? On the this moment Supernatural has indeed reached the thinnest airwaves in television history. Ill-wishers may say that the series is no longer as high-quality as in its moments of glory, but not many TV shows are lucky to have them last at least two full seasons, and even more so 14.

Perhaps the biggest contributor to Supernatural's support is the absolutely unwavering support of his loyal fans. Fans have gone through good times and bad along with the characters on the show, and are not showing any signs of change anytime soon. After more than a decade on the air, Supernatural is still at the top of the charts when it comes to CW's top shows, and it's very rare with other series.

Will Supernatural season 14 be the last?

However, all good things come to an end one day, and eventually Supernatural must do the same. Some fans may be happy to see Sam and Dean Winchester continue their adventures into the Middle Ages, but it looks like it might be a bridge too far away. Now, as reported by TV Line, Supernatural season 14 will consist of only 20 episodes, slightly shorter than the usual 23 CW episodes. Could this be a sign that Eric Kripke's series is ending? Maybe.

While the cut to three episodes might not seem like a huge change - and for most TV shows, it probably won't be very noticeable - Supernatural has always stuck to 23 episodes in each season since season 7. It's a long time to maintain a consistent picture. to then suddenly deviate from it. In fact, the only season of Supernatural to be shorter than season 14 is the third season, which consisted of just 16 episodes. But there was a reason for that - the shortened season was caused by the strike of Hollywood writers.

Are there any other reasons why Supernatural season 14 has fewer episodes?

In fairness, it should be noted that Supernatural season 14 is shorter than previous seasons, perhaps for a more mundane reason. The stars of the series - Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles are married people and are fathers of families, perhaps they just decided to ask The CW for more free time than they received before in order to spend more time with their families.

However, both men have said in the past that 300 episodes will be good number to finish Supernatural, and Season 14 will come up to that mark. Can the writers and producers of Supernatural tell The CW that they are ready to finish the show and plan to do so with a more intense but more intense season? It is possible, and the fact that The CW turned down comment on a reduced order on TV Line seems curious.

Supernatural usually has a significant presence at San Diego Comic-Con, so perhaps next month it will be revealed why Supernatural season 14 shorter than the previous ones.
