Buranovskie grandmothers (Udm. Brangurtys pesyanajos)- small folklore group from the village of Buranovo, Malopurginsky district of the Republic of Udmurtia (). The ensemble was created over 40 years ago, average age participants - 68 years old.

Olga Nikolaevna Tuktareva, director of the Buranovsky House of Culture and artistic director collective, united the grandmothers under her wing, but none of the grandmothers seriously thinks about the professional scene.

They sing the way their great-great-grandmothers sang.
They carefully preserve the values that have been passed down from generation to generation for centuries.
They live by subsistence farming the way their ancestors lived.
They can refuse to speak just because they need to plant potatoes. And everyone treats this with understanding.

The main repertoire consists of Udmurt songs and ditties. For the first time, "Grandmothers" began to perform with retellings of famous pop songs in Udmurt in 2008. Among them are Boris Grebenshchikov's Golden City, Viktor Tsoi's Star Called Sun, Smoke on the water» Deep purple, "Hotel California" Eagles, "Yesterday" and "Let it be" Beatles, "Walking on the Water" by Vyacheslav Butusov, etc. make of her Aishon is a tall cone-shaped hat on a leather or birch bark base, trimmed with canvas, decorated with coins and various pendants.
It is a traditional female headdress of the Udmurts. "> Aishon
"And took third place. In the qualifying round for Eurovision-2012, they won the song Party for Everybody, the music for which was written by the band's co-producer Viktor Drobysh, the words in Udmurt belong to the pen of the grandmothers themselves, and English text created by the poet Mary Susan Applegate, who works with Modern talking and Kylie Minogue. At the end of May in Baku they will represent Russia in this competition.

Also in Soviet time, in 1939, in the village of Buranovo, they first closed, and at the end of 1940, the Trinity Church was destroyed to the ground, where the founder of Udmurt literature, the famous teacher and ethnographer Grigory Vereshchagin served. The dream of the Buranovsky grandmothers is to build a church in their native village. And, perhaps, this is the main incentive that leads grandmothers to the stage. Also, grandmothers hope that their popularity will become an incentive for the development of the Udmurt language and culture.

V country club village Buranovo grandmothers on their own opened a museum, the main exhibits of which were shawls, which are 200 years old.
The national costumes of grandmothers, in which they perform, have their own age-old history. They were not made to order, but were kept for a long time in the chests of Buranov residents. For example, the dresses are hand-sewn from natural linen, and they are already about a hundred years old, and the decorations on the neck - "> monisto - are made of silver coins, some of which date back to the 18th century.

Olga Nikolaevna Tuktareva

Director Buranovsky rural House of culture and artistic director collective "Buranovskiye babushki"... Graduated from the Perm Institute of Culture. author a large number translations of songs into Udmurt language... A very sincere and subtle nature. At the same time, he does not forget about household- her family already in April eats fresh cucumbers from their own greenhouse.
Two children.

Ekaterina Semyonovna Shklyaeva

The collective's tuning fork - the tonality is checked against it. Ferments the most delicious cabbage... There is always bread for the birds in her pockets: wherever grandmothers come on tour, she feeds pigeons, sparrows or ducks everywhere. When I was in the 4th grade, Ekaterina Semyonovna's mother fell ill. Therefore, I had to leave school and take on all the housework. She worked on the legendary Izhevsk Mechanical Plant then in Perm region at a construction site painter-plasterer... She got married there, but after 6 years her husband died. Returned to home village and before retirement worked in collective farm of the village of Buranovo.
She brought up 3 children. There are 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.

Valentina Semyonovna Pyatchenko

The collective calls her "shyrpi", in Russian - a mouse. She's so quiet. First she studied to be a seamstress, then she graduated from the historical and philological faculty of the Udmurt Pedagogical Institute. Worked for 21 years teacher of Russian language and literature in Turkmenistan, where her husband was sent to serve. But family life, unfortunately, it did not work out, and in 1984 Valentina Semyonovna returned with her children to her native village Buranovo, where she worked at school until her retirement.
In 1998, while working on a circular saw, she lost her right arm (she puts on a prosthesis before going on stage). Over time, she learned to do everything herself: sewing on a typewriter, baking pies and cooking nai delicious jam from pumpkin and zucchini.
She raised 2 sons, one of whom died tragically. Has 2 grandchildren.

Natalia Yakovlevna Pugacheva

The oldest participant in the Eurovision Song Contest in its entire history. I studied at school for only one year, then the war began - it was not up to school. All her life she worked on a collective farm in the village of Buranovo. They say about such people: small, but remote. Indeed, absolutely everything is in time! He also has a great sense of humor.
She brought up 4 children. She also has 3 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren. And her beloved husband is grandfather Afanasy, who, sometimes, does not let his wife attend the ensemble's rehearsals.

Granya Ivanovna Baysarova

By profession, a painter-plasterer, tiler. Worked for Izhevsk machine-building plant... In 1975 she moved with her family to Buranovo, where she worked as a milkmaid for 20 years. She knits every free minute. Beautiful stockings, in which grandmothers go on stage, her creation.
She raised 6 children who gave her 8 grandchildren. There is a great-granddaughter.

Zoya Sergeevna Dorodova

A baker by profession. She worked in Buranovskaya bakery, as a milkmaid on a collective farm. Having married in the village of Babino, she worked as a cook and manager school cafeteria... After the death of her husband, she returned back to Buranovo and until retirement worked as a cook at the Geofizika company.
The most sedate and laconic member of the team. If on trips you need to cook dinner, then it is Zoya Sergeevna who does it.
She raised a daughter who gave her 2 grandchildren.

Galina Nikolaevna Koneva

The core of the team and the generator of ideas. No wonder her friends call her "Mush Mumy", in Russian - the queen bee. If she lived in the city, she would certainly become a statesman.
Graduated from the Sarapul preschool pedagogical school. All my life I worked as a kindergarten teacher. WITH young years performs on stage in amateur performances and only two years ago she has not taken part in skiing competitions - Galina Nikolaevna has the I senior category in cross-country skiing.
Raised 3 children. There are 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Alevtina Gennadievna Begisheva

All her life she worked as an accountant and only for the last 4 years has been managing a museum in the Buranovsky House of Culture. It was not by chance that I changed my job: the whole family collected antiques. So family hobby became a profession. It was thanks to her that it turned out to collect many costumes for grandmothers. And for all the members of the team, her husband, Ilya Begishev, weaved real bast shoes from linden bast. Alevtina Gennadievna - an accountant for life - loves clarity and order in everything. Loves solving Sudoku puzzles.
Three children.

Elizaveta Filippovna Zarbatova

(not pictured)

Age: 87 years old

12 years ago she wrote the triumphant song "Long-Long Birch Bark and How to Make Aishon Out of It". With this song, the grandmothers performed at the Russian Eurovision selection round in 2010 and took 3rd place. Baba Liza, as everyone calls her, would go to Moscow and Eurovision with pleasure, but the years are not the same.

Nikolay G. Zarbatov

(not pictured)

Age: 55 years old

Accompanist of Buranovskiye Babushki. On big stage we do not see him, because, as a rule, alive musical accompaniment there is not required. But he has always been and remains a part of the team. This is an orchestra man! Plays the guitar, button accordion, accordion, domra, etc. Surprisingly, he took up music seriously only at the age of 30. Prior to that, he was a driver for 10 years.
3 children and 3 grandchildren.

"Buranovskie Babushki" is perhaps the only Russian amateur team, which has covered itself, if not world fame, then certainly European. Charismatic, direct, sincere members of the team in masterpieces national costumes made a splash on the international scene.

Composition

The official registration of the group is the village of Buranovo near Izhevsk, the capital of the Udmurt Republic. The backbone of the ensemble members are the residents of the village, who have long since retired, but are still vigorous and active. And most importantly - those who are not indifferent to the folk song.

The face of the team is Natalya Yakovlevna Pugacheva. The woman was born 6 years before the start of the Great Patriotic War, studied at school for only a year. She brought up 4 children, 3 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. At a very old age, the cheerful grandmother underwent an operation to remove a cancerous tumor. Among other things, Natalia Pugacheva is the oldest Eurovision participant in the entire history of the competition.

Colleagues of the most charming participant in Buranovskiye Babushkas - Ekaterina Shklyaeva, Valentina Pyatchenko, Granya Baysarova, Zoya Dorodova, Alevtina Begisheva, Galina Koneva - are women with a difficult fate who survived a husband or a son. However, the burden of years and events did not diminish women's thirst for life and love for music in women.

The optimistic grandmothers are led by Olga Tuktareva, who is also the director of the rural House of Culture. In addition to general guidance, she translates into Udmurt modern songs, which then sound from the stage performed by "Buranovskie grandmothers".

Unfortunately, in 2014, the oldest member of the team, Elizaveta Zarbatova, passed away. Elizaveta Filippovna once wrote the song "Long, long birch bark and how to make an aishon out of it." This song became a pass for the ensemble in the qualifying round of Eurovision.

The news about the colorful ensemble from Udmurtia spread widely after the Buranovskys performed at the anniversary. Later, the director of the House of Lyudmila Zykina LLC Ksenia Rubtsova took over the duties of the producer of the collective and, according to media reviews, turned folk ensemble in a business project to make money.

She, by a strong-willed decision, made changes to the composition of "Buranovskiye Babushki", including former performers from two other ensembles among the artists. Rubtsova explained new composition groups because it is difficult for grandmothers to tour, and the viewer is not at all familiar with someone from the collective. In addition, after the onset of world fame, young artists wanted to perform under the brand of "Buranovskiye Babushki".

At the same time, the producer did not bother to personally talk with the grandmothers about the prospects for changing the composition, the first soloists learned about everything from the Internet. They did not take into account the fact that the grandmothers asked to be allowed to continue performing in order to raise money for the restoration of the church in their native village. Moreover, the title "Buranovskie grandmothers" and even phonograms for their own songs do not belong to the elderly artists. And to tour your native Udmurtia or anywhere else, you need to ask Rubtsova's permission.

At the same time, the new team did not need an accumulated collection of predecessors. The ensemble performs new songs, from the former repertoire are "Veterok" and the hit "Party for everybody dance" that made the grandmothers stars.

The good news is that the grandmothers did not lose heart, they changed the name of the ensemble to "Grandmothers from Buranova" and continue to delight fans with perky songs.

In addition, the members of the ensemble made the dream for which they endured so much - they opened a temple in their native village. For the sake of fairness, we note that the "House of Lyudmila Zykina" contributed to the financial support of the construction.

Music

The repertoire of grandmothers was composed of Udmurt and Russian folk songs... However, they were especially famous for their performance in the Udmurt language of the hits of modern rock and pop music -, DJ Slon,.

Despite the far from young age, the performers toured the country and half the world. Moreover, if the performance schedule was violated, it was only because of household worries or field work.

In 2014, "Buranovskie Babushki" presented a clip for new song"Veterok" specially for the Olympic Games in Sochi. I wrote the music, former member, words - the head of the ensemble Olga Tuktareva.

At the festival "Spasskaya Tower" Udmurt performers performed together with French star... After singing the song "Chao, bambino, sori", the grandmothers admitted that it was not difficult to sing in French, since the languages are somewhat similar.

In 2016, active pensioners recorded a song in the electro-house style with young fellow countrymen - musicians of the "Ectonica" project. The guys wrote the music in a club arrangement, and the grandmothers wrote the words in the Udmurt language.

Especially for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, a video of the song "Ole-Ola" "Buranovskiye Babushki" has been published on the Web. In the video, the artists sang, danced and made several football passes. Enthusiastic viewers noted that they were not ashamed of such active participants, in comparison with 11 members of the Russian football team.

"Eurovision"

They tried to conquer the stage of the major European song festival "Buranovskie Babushki" twice. The debut of 2010 turned out to be very successful - with a song written by a colleague in the group "Long, long birch bark and how to make an aishon out of it," the singers took 3rd place in the Russian qualifying round.

Two years later, the grandmothers impressed the selection jury with the composition "Party for every body", performed in Udmurt and English. The recording of the ensemble's performance in the final of the competition in Baku was ahead of other competitors in terms of the number of views.

"Buranovskie grandmothers" in terms of the number of collected votes were second only to Swedish singer, which journalists called a discovery for Europe. Simple, sincere execution has left far behind the shocking competitors with their theatrical performances and glamorous gloss. When asked why the grandmothers needed to conquer the international scene, the artistic director of the ensemble replied that there was only one goal - to build a church in the village of Buranovo.

Three years later, the team addressed a parting word to the chosen one to defend the colors Russian flag at "Eurovision" -2015. Grandmothers noted that Polina powerful voice and they like songs from the girl's repertoire - "Cuckoo" and "The play is over."

"Buranovskie grandmothers" now

The ensemble from Udmurtia continues to delight unusual performances but also to surprise fans with the ease with which artists manage to break stereotypes about folk music.

One of the hits of the Internet is a video in which grandmothers play up the title theme of the cult computer game Mortal Kombat. The video was filmed specifically for the TNT-4 channel, which sent the recording to the PromaxBDA UK-2017 competition.

By the way, this is the most prestigious award in the field of telemarketing, design and production. In 2017, the TV channel won all the main prizes in the nomination "Best Promo for foreign language". The video with the participation of the grandmothers won the bronze.

In December 2017, the YouTube channel published new clip"Buranovskie grandmothers" called "Vyl Aren". The singers remained true to themselves and chose to perform another hit - Jingle Bells, singing in Russian and English. For a merry holiday, perky artists presented a video for the song "New Year".

The second youth was presented to "Buranovskiy" by the singer Dmitry Nesterov. The artist, who can sing in three different voices, “Russian Joe Dassin”, was not promised any prospects at the beginning of his collaboration with “Buranovskiye Babushki”. Nevertheless, the musician recorded with the ensemble the compositions "I am 18 again", "We wish you happiness", " New Year", "Hello".

About 30 kilometers from Izhevsk, a small village of Buranovo is hidden between the hills, where 670 people live.

8 of them will perform in Baku at the Eurovision final on Saturday. They will have to defend the honor of Russia in this prestigious competition.

"Buranovskie grandmothers" all their lives, and some have lived most of it in Buranovo. They sang, as they say, for as long as they can remember. The composition under the stellar name was formed relatively recently, in 2000. Tsoi and Grebenshchikova sang in Udmurt, then - songs from the repertoire of the Beatles, Eagles and received recognition throughout the country.

Actually, main secret the success of "Buranovskiye Babushki" - their originality, sincerity and purity of images - is visible, as they say, with the naked eye. What artists are on the stage, so they are in life - simple, kind and real.

On the eve of the most important performances in the career of "Buranovskie grandmothers", "RG" correspondents visited the singers, asked them about their everyday life, families and hobbies.

Hospitable grandmothers (about some of them "RG-Nedelya" told in the issue of March 22 of this year) willingly took the role of interviewees and told all the secrets about themselves.

Mother of many children sings, embroiders and knits

We have always loved to sing. When we worked as painters, songs were shouted to the entire staircase, which was being renovated! - Granya Ivanovna recalls and adds: - Now they probably don't sing like that.

In 1976 she moved with her family to Buranovo, where she worked as a milkmaid for 20 years. Granya Ivanovna had a big break in her work, when two sons, one after the other, went to serve in the army, in Chechnya. They returned safe and sound, and my mother began to sing again.

Such is the nature - there must be order in everything.

One boy brought an old iron, - says Alevtina Begisheva, - I thought we would give him money, but when he found out that the DK had no money, he was very upset, but did not take the iron back. And one man brought a three-kilogram mammoth tooth. Although he has nothing to do with the old way of life, I assigned a number to him and show it to everyone.

Valentina Semyonovna lost her right arm while working on a circular saw (she goes on stage with a prosthesis). Nevertheless, she does an excellent job with the housework and with one hand: digging a vegetable garden, picking berries, making delicious jam and even sewing on a sewing machine. Director of success

Olga Nikolaevna Tuktareva is the artistic director of the Buranovskiye Babushki, director of the Buranovski Culture House, the author of the translations of songs into the Udmurt language.

She was born on April 26, 1968 in the village of Puro-Mozhga near Buranov. Graduated from the Perm Institute of Culture. Moreover, when I arrived to enroll, I spoke very bad Russian. I decided to study as a director, not even knowing what this word means.

I was offered to enroll in a methodologist, librarian and director. I chose the latter - I really liked the word! - said Olga Tuktareva.

Her main hobby, besides the "Buranovskie Babushki" ensemble, is children's theatre studio, which Olga Nikolaevna organized at the local House of Culture. In the Palace of Culture, the artistic director practically spends the day and sleeps. And the husband at this time is busy with greenhouses and in April treats the whole family with fresh cucumbers. The couple are raising two children.

A group called "Buranovskie grandmothers", which performed at the 57th song contest Eurovision has become a real phenomenon. After all, where have you seen that representatives of the musical sphere from the country were seventy-year-old artists. However, they not only successfully performed the prepared composition, but also conquered half of the world, having won an honorable second place.

Oddly enough, the ensemble of folk songs called "Buranovskie Babushki" is not a project specially created to surprise the audience and the Eurovision jury. He is already over forty years old, and all this time a group of active singers, who today are already about eighty years old, have been performing songs from old folklore in the Udmurt language.

Popular fame came to the grandmothers at the end of the 2000s, when they began to appear with performances at various concert venues and perform covers in Udmurt popular in different times songs. So, as part of the concert, dedicated to the native language, on the stage State Philharmonic They sang the hits of V. Tsoi and B. Grebenshchikov in Udmurtia, and thus attracted the attention of television channels and journalists.

As the singers themselves admit, their work is not associated with a thirst for fame and wealth. All the money that they planned to earn from performances and other projects, they used to build a temple in Buranovo. The same motive moved them when two members of the collective - Olga Nikolaevna and Galina Nikolaevna - played on the show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" The prize of 800,000 rubles also went to charity.

Fruitful creativity of cheerful grandmothers, which became a great contribution to the development national art, earned them the title People's Artists Of the Udmurt Republic, which was assigned to eight members of the team by the President of Udmurtia.

Despite their advanced age, the performers are happy to perform at various concert venues in the country (guests of the Ybitsa festival in 2013 and Laula kanssain in 2016), record musical compositions with other musicians (the song "And I will not marry" with the singer Varvara). Filmed in commercials (commercial for Sprite in 2012), and also engaged in social activities... So, in the same 2012, they received a certificate of official, albeit freelance, traffic police officers in hometown responsible for promoting safe road traffic.

As part of the opening Olympic Games held in 2014 in Russian city Sochi, Buranovskaya grandmother Galina Koneva, who at that time was 75 years old, acted as one of the torchbearers in the general relay.

Members of the collective "Buranovskie Babushki"

the main objective music project under the name "Buranovskie grandmothers" is the preservation national traditions, behind which there is a huge layer of values passed down from generation to generation. Each of the members of the group treats creativity with the simplicity that was characteristic of their ancestors, who also sang familiar melodies with soul and selflessly.

Olga Nikolaevna Tuktareva is the director and artistic director of the grandmothers, who voluntarily united talented women under one roof. She also holds the post of director of the House of Culture in the village of Buranovo. Olga is a graduate of the Institute of Culture in Perm, a translator of famous compositions into the Udmurt language, as well as a talented hostess.

During the existence of the collective, it included several people. We will talk about some of them in a little more detail, since each of them has its own special character traits.

Ekaterina Semyonovna Shklyaeva

In the team, Ekaterina Semyonovna is called a tuning fork, since thanks to her perfect ear, you can check the tonality of the melody. Those who know her even better praise her for the excellent sour cabbage.

There is always a piece of bread in Ekaterina Semyonovna's pocket to feed the birds. On tour, you can always recognize her precisely by the fact that she feeds the winged everywhere.

She has only four years of education in school, since she lost her mother early and took over her family and household. This was followed by work at a mechanical plant, at a construction site as a painter and on the Buranov collective farm.

For her meek character, my grandmother received the nickname "shyrpi", which means a mouse in Russian. Valentina Semyonovna has two educations: the first is a seamstress, the second is a teacher. She worked as a teacher when she lived with her husband in Turkmenistan, but the woman's family life did not work out, and at the age of forty-seven she returned to Buranovo, where she taught at school until retirement.

The singer has no right hand- she lost it while working on a circular saw. At the performances of Buranovskaya grandmothers, she puts on a prosthesis. By the way, this drawback does not in the least interfere with her housekeeping: she sews beautifully, bakes fragrant pies and prepares delicious jam.

Natalia Yakovlevna Pugacheva

In the entire history of the Eurovision Song Contest, this singer of the group Buranovsky grandmothers became the oldest participant. In her life there was only one class of school, then - the war and work in the Buranovo collective farm.

This woman is almost ninety, but she is the kind of person about whom they say "small, but daring."

The team also included:

  • Granya Ivanovna Baysarova - painter-plasterer, milkmaid with twenty years of experience, excellent knitter.
  • Zoya Sergeevna Dorodova is a baker and cook, which she is now. Among other grandmothers, she is considered the most silent.
  • Galina Nikolaevna Koneva is the person who is responsible for new ideas for the team. They even came up with an unusual nickname - "Mush Mummy", which means "queen bee". By the way, Galina Nikolaevna is a real athlete, on her account the first adult category in skiing.
  • Alevtina Gennadievna Begisheva is a former accountant who was retrained as the head of the museum. It is she who is responsible for the bright folk costumes.
  • Elizaveta Filippovna Zarbatova - left not only the ensemble, but also our world in 2014, and today everyone remembers her as the author of a triumphal song, with which women performed at national selection Eurovision in Russia, and just a good person.

There is also a man in the team - Nikolai Grigorievich Zarbatov. It is he who is responsible for musical part creativity of the ensemble. All his talents cannot be counted: he is both a guitarist and an accordion player, in a word, a man-orchestra.

Participation in Eurovision

Buranovskaya grandmothers auditioned for participation in the competition back in 2010, and in the selection of the national level sang a song called "Long-long birch bark". However, this time they were not yet ready to become representatives of the country.

After participating in the national selection again two years later, in 2012 they passed qualifying round and represented Russia at Eurovision 2012 with the groovy song Party for Everybody, performed on a broken line English language in a colorful folk style.

The very appearance of the grandmothers on the stage caused unprecedented delight and emotion among the large audience of the competition. But this was not enough to take home a crystal microphone, so Russia had to be content with second place.

The performance in Baku made the Buranovsky grandmothers very popular not only in our country, but also in Europe. Their simplicity and charming folk vocals, which they perform as famous compositions in the arrangement, as well as folk songs, will not leave anyone indifferent. They now also travel to cities with concert program giving people smiles and warmth.
