Closing ceremony of the Festival of Youth and Students
On October 21, the closing ceremony of the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students was held. In fact, it consisted of two parts: first, the grandiose show “Russia” took place at the “Medals Plaza”, which introduced the audience to the cultural diversity of the peoples inhabiting our country, and then the final performance was held in the Ice Palace “Bolshoi”, the main characters of which were the participants of the forum. ...

Those present at the Rossiya show were greeted by Vladimir Putin. The President of the Russian Federation expressed hope that the festival week would benefit almost 30 thousand young people from all over the world. “I am sure that when you leave Russia, you will leave a piece of your heart here. But Russia will always remain in your heart, ”he said. The head of state also noted the unusual energy of the festival, calling it "the energy of the young", and thanked everyone who came to it. Concluding his speech, Vladimir Putin switched to English: “Future starts here and now future is you. All the best! ("The future starts here, and now the future is you. I wish you all the best!"). Then, while chanting "thank you", the President of Russia took a group photo with the participants of the holiday.

The leitmotif of the show "Russia" was the acquaintance of the participants of the WFMS 2017 with the folk art of the host country of the festival - from Kamchatka to Kaliningrad. The most colorful collectives of the country gathered at "Medals Plaza", which represented eight federal districts of the country. The presentation of the regions was stylized as a photo application on a computer, queries on an Internet search engine, videos on Youtube video hosting, posts on Instagram and Twitter social networks and symbolized that Russia lives in an age of high technologies, but does not forget about its roots.

Together with creative teams, the audience experienced a kind of journey across Russia. The ensemble "Red beads" from Khabarovsk and "Koritev" from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the famous "Buranovskie grandmothers" from the Volga region, the Russian folk choir named after V.I. E. Popova and the "Rosinka" dance ensemble, which represented Central Russia, the "Extravaganza" drum show that embodied the traditions of the north-west of the country, beatboxer Erik Grigoryan and his team of drummers from the Ural Federal District, artists of the Chechen state ensemble "Vainakh" and the dance ensemble " Naltsuk "from Kabardino-Balkaria, which presented the North Caucasus," Altai Storytellers "and the Kuban Cossack Choir, which conveyed to the public all the flavor of the Southern Federal District. The honored artist of Russia Zara summed up the musical and costumed travel across the country with the song "Wide is my native country". After that, the participants of the concert wished the audience to personally get acquainted with the geographical and cultural diversity of our country.

The show "Russia" was followed by the culmination of the evening and the entire Festival of Youth and Students. The Bolshoi Ice Palace hosted a closing ceremony called Awakening.

Nicolas Papadimitriou, President of the World Federation of Democratic Youth, addressed the audience from the stage. “During these days we have had the opportunity to learn lessons. During these days, progressive youth participated in the discussion program and events, exchanged experiences, beliefs and ideas. The success of the festival is not reflected in figures and facts - it can only be reflected in the meanings that young people can convey from Russia and from the festival to their countries, ”Papadimitriou said. He also separately thanked the Russians, the organizers and Vladimir Putin personally for the work done.

The main characters of the closing ceremony were the participants of the festival and ... music - as one of the main elements uniting people around the world. That is why, starting from the first seconds of the ceremony, a huge rock orchestra headed by Alexander and Nikita Pozdnyakov, consisting of festival participants, appeared on the stage. During the show, he performed world famous hits in rock arrangements.

At the same time, the audience was also involved in this huge musical flash mob. The lyrics were displayed on the scoreboard, and the whole audience sang along with them. In addition, various tasks were displayed on the screens: people were asked to make a wave, freeze like a dummy in a certain position, and also hug or kiss a person sitting next to them.

Nevertheless, the main heroes of the ceremony were the participants of the festival, who took turns on the stage, recited poetry and uttered warm and sincere words to the guests, friends and organizers of the festival. “I feel that each of the participants wants to change the world for the better and achieve equality in the world. At this festival, I felt the unity, solidarity and kindness of youth from all over the world. We can say that the youth made this festival for the youth, ”one of the participants of the WFMS 2017, Enrique Dominguez from Brazil, addressed the audience. This is the youngest man who lost his sneakers at the festival. They were literally searched for by the whole world presented at the WFMS 2017, but they were never found. However, at the closing ceremony, Enrique was in for a surprise.

“During the week of the festival, we had one unpleasant story: Enrique, who had just performed on this stage, lost his sneakers. Everyone helped him to look for them ... Of course, we could not let him go from the festival and give him a gift, ”said the head of the Directorate for the preparation and holding of the festival, Ksenia Razuvaeva, and handed the guest from Brazil a bag with new white sneakers.

Ksenia Razuvaeva also noted that for the first time in the history of the movement, UN volunteers took part in organizing the festival. One of them - Shreya Bose from India - took the stage during the closing ceremony. “As one of the five thousand Volunteers of the World, I can say with confidence that each of us put a piece of our soul into the work that we did together. It doesn't matter what role each of us played, everyone experienced and rejoiced with you! We shared a variety of moments with you and are glad that we were able to benefit from such a grand event, ”she said.

The closing ceremony once again emphasized that if a person has a goal and a dream, then nothing will prevent them from realizing. At one of the moments of the evening, a participant of the WFMS 2017 from Chad Ndolegulum Jasrabe Herve appeared on the stage and sang the unofficial anthem of the festival. “In Chad, the problem of modern technologies is acute; they are practically not integrated into life in the country. Therefore, young people often feel lonely and abandoned, and I decided to write this song so that people around the world would pay attention to us and maybe support us. I was born into a poor family and set a goal for myself to study well in school, because I had the only way to succeed and support my family, ”Hervé said from the stage. It was Ndolegulum Jasrabe Herve's dream to perform the song at the festival's closing ceremony, and now that dream has come true.

The closing ceremony ended with a colorful fireworks display, consisting of four thousand volleys. After that, a disco at the Medals Plaza awaited the guests.

The Russian national team won the WFMS-2017 football tournament

On October 21, the Continents Cup football tournament ended, which was held as part of the World Festival of Youth and Students. The teams from Russia and Europe met in the final.
The European national team opened the scoring in the match, but the Russians were able not only to recoup, but also to come out ahead. At the last minute of the meeting, the Old World team managed to score, and regulation time ended with a score of 2: 2. The winner of the tournament was determined by a penalty shootout, where Russian students were more accurate - 5: 4.

One of the guests of honor of the match was Fatma Samura, Secretary General of the International Football Federation. On the sidelines of the festival, the FIFA Secretary General was asked about the possibility of increasing the number of the cheapest tickets for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Russia. She replied that they did not plan to do this.
“The number remains the same, as does the price - from 1250 rubles for group stage matches. We had a categorization meeting, all commitments must be met. They concern 350 thousand tickets of the fourth category only for Russians. This is more than 10% of all tickets ", - quotes Fatma Samura TASS.

On October 20, at the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students, the quarterfinals, semi-finals and the final of the international Battle of Robots were held. 18 teams from Russia, Brazil, India, Iran, Spain, Turkey and Australia competed for the victory.
Each battle took place in a specially equipped ring, and was given 3 minutes. After that, experts evaluated the damage suffered by the opposing teams. A robot was considered defeated if it stopped moving or if the number of points for the destruction inflicted on it exceeded the number of points of the enemy.
In the final, teams from Kazan fought with the robot "Destructor", Muscovites with the robot "Weber" and the Brazilian "Decepticon" with the original Russian nickname "Prostofilya". The Weber Robotics team from Moscow became the winner and the owner of the cup and the prize fund in the amount of 300 thousand rubles. The rest of the finalists received 100 thousand rubles each.
The battle was attended by the first deputy head of the Presidential Administration, head of the Russian organizing committee of the WFMS 2017, Sergei Kiriyenko, and the head of Sberbank, German Gref.
“I didn’t stand behind the robot’s remote control, but while a spectacular battle was going on in the ring, I fidgeted and tried to press non-existent buttons with my hands. I was terribly sorry for one robot, I tried to help the second one - this suggests that this is an amazing and exciting event. I would like to say thank you to the organizers of the battle, Promobot, and Sberbank employees who made a lot of effort to create a real spectacle that evokes emotions in all of us, ”German Gref shared his impressions.
Sergei Kiriyenko noted that "Battle of Robots" is only partly a game, but otherwise it is a serious work to create new technologies: after all, behind the creation of each "fighter" there is a lot of work of its designers. “It would be very cool if the only conflicts that remained in our world were such battles of robots,” Kiriyenko expressed hope.

The new line of pyrotechnics reduces the amount of smoke from volleys by 2.5 times, while the range of sparks is increased by 20-30%, which significantly improves the brightness and entertainment of the picture, - the press service of the Rostec State Corporation told the TASS news agency preparing the show. The festive fireworks will last at least 3.5 minutes. The fireworks will be launched to music specially written for the festival with a frequency of more than 10 shots per second.

Today, on October 20, at the intersection of Kurortny Avenue and Fabricius Street, a public garden was solemnly opened in honor of the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students. The new resting place was named just that - the Festivalny square.

In honor of the opening of the park, a eucalyptus was planted, which was named the "Tree of Peace". Another notable decoration of the new green zone is the figure of the dove, which is a symbol of peace and the WFMS. Like the nearby Arboretum park, the Festivalny square with an area of more than a hectare promises to become a popular place among the townspeople and guests of the resort.

Speakers from different parts of the world were invited to present each part of the program, who have already made a significant contribution to the solution of global world issues. Their stories were diluted with performances of pop stars - Dima Bilan, Polina Gagarina, Tiona Dolnikova, Nyusha, Alexander Panayotov, Yulia Parshuta, the Tolmachev sisters, Sergei Lazarev. He selected his compositions according to the theme of the performances of the heroes of the evening.

After the main program, Russian President Vladimir Putin took the stage and announced the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students open.

- The first festival took place seven decades ago. Then the same young guys and girls like you were united by the power of dreams, the belief that young people, their sincerity and kindness can melt the ice of mistrust, help rid the world of injustice, wars and conflicts. And your peers of that time did a lot. They proved that barriers are powerless in front of true friendship, and the warmth of human communication does not depend on political, national, religious, cultural and other differences, - said Vladimir Putin.
The President of Russia noted that the energy and talent of youth have amazing strength, and the young generation always brings innovative ideas to the world.
The ceremony ended with a performance by OneRepublic, who performed one of their biggest hits, "Apologize".

There is very little time left until Russia opens its doors to young people from all over the world.

Already, key events of the preparatory stage are underway: the selection of participants and volunteers of the festival has begun, topics for the discussion program are being formed, and young people all over the country and the world are joining the festival movement. WFMS 2017 will become the most ambitious youth event of the year!

The festival aims to consolidate the youth world community, strengthen international ties, and develop interethnic and intercultural interaction. One of the main tasks of the future festival will be the joint development of the image of the future by young people from different countries of the world, an attempt to formulate answers to the most pressing challenges facing the generation.

More than 20,000 young people from 150 countries, aged 18 to 35, will take part in the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students 2017.

Young leaders from different fields will gather on one site: representatives of youth public organizations, young journalists, creative and sports youth, young engineers and IT specialists, leaders of youth organizations of political parties, young entrepreneurs, leaders of student government, young scientists and university professors, and also compatriots and foreigners studying Russian and interested in Russian culture.

World Festival of Youth and Students 2017 program

The festival starts on October 14 with a solemn meeting of the guests of the festival in Moscow at the parade-carnival. The opening ceremony of the festival will take place on October 15 in Sochi.

The Opening Ceremony performance will be built around real stories of people who change lives for the better: among them Afroz Shah from India, who in 86 weeks removed 5.4 tons of garbage from the Mumbai beach, Roman Gek from Russia, who built a school in Nepal, founders of the I am! Egor Beroev and Ksenia Alferova and others.

Throughout the festival, its guests will find a rich discussion program, a varied cultural program, an active sports program, a powerful scientific and educational program (speakers of which, in particular, will be motivational speaker Nick Vuychich, Director General of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Marco Lambertini, Google foreign policy director Avni Doron, writer Frederic Begbekder, FIFA secretary general Samuru Fatmu).

For the first time in the history of the festival movement, the whole country will be involved in a grandiose youth holiday. Within the framework of the festival, from 14 to 17 October 2017, a regional program is planned for more than 1,500 foreign participants who came to the WFYS 2017.

The closing ceremony of the festival will take place on October 21 at the Bolshoi Ice Palace in Sochi. One of the key elements of the Ceremony will be the message “Let's change the world”, which will be drawn up by the participants.

In addition to Russian and English, the official website of the festival for youth and students will soon work in all working languages of the festival: Spanish, French, Chinese and Arabic.

Thus, the audience of the whole planet will be able to get acquainted not only with the program of the festival of youth and students in 2017, but also receive information about the history of the festival movement, learn more about the host country and, of course, stay up to date with all the latest news.

History of the World Festival of Youth and Students

The first youth festival was held in our country in 1957 in Moscow. He had a huge impact on the further formation of culture, art and served as the ancestor of many innovative genres for that time.

It was then that the editorial board "Festivalnaya" appeared on Central Television, producing the Soviet TV quiz show "Evening of Merry Questions". Later, this format was redesigned into the Club of the cheerful and resourceful - KVN, well-known and beloved by everyone today.

The XIX World Festival of Youth and Students will be held in Russia in 2017.

This decision was made February 7, 2016 The World Federation of Democratic Youth and international student organizations at an international consultative meeting on the holding of the XIX Festival. The application of youth organizations to host the Festival was submitted by Rosmolodezh on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin in November 2015.

In the entire history of the festival movement, Russia for the third time will host the largest international event in the field of youth interaction. It is especially important for us that 2017 is a jubilee year not only for the festival itself (the first took place in 1947), but also for Russian history. For the first time we opened our doors to the youth of the whole planet 60 years ago. The Moscow scale then amazed the world and in many ways became a point of reference and a high bar for the future capitals of the festival.

Keeping all the best festival traditions and synthesizing them with important modern trends, Russia will once again become a hospitable host for representatives of all continents!

Infrastructure of the festival

All the main events of the festival will take place on the territory of the modern Olympic Park, which was built in the Imeretinskaya lowland in Sochi. The infrastructure has been created in such a way that it is essentially a “city within a city”: participants will live in comfortable hotels, and discussion platforms, work centers and leisure facilities are within walking distance. Well-established air traffic connects Sochi with Moscow and dozens of other cities, and with the help of modern rail transport it will be easy to get to the city center or to Rosa Khutor, the so-called Mountain Cluster.

All facilities were specially built for the XXII Olympic Winter and XI Paralympic Games. In 2014, Sochi impressed the whole world. The festival pursues an ambitious task - to fully comply with the level set during sports competitions.

Red Square, Moscow

The center and heart of not only Moscow, but all of Russia. It is difficult to list all those significant events that took place here or are associated with the history of Red Square. There is a lot of controversy about the origin of its name, but most historians are similar in opinion: Red from the word Beautiful.

Here is the starting point of all tourist routes - both for Russians and for guests of our country - and right there is the reporting point of all highways - "Kilometer Zero". St. Basil's Cathedral and the red-brick walls of the Kremlin, the Gothic facade of the Main Department Store and the building of the Historical Museum (by the way, it was here that the world-famous and oldest in Russia University - Moscow) was originally located.

It is especially symbolic that here, near the first building of the University 14 october 2017 and the Student Parade will begin, which will serve as the start of the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students.

Sparrow Hills, Moscow

Years passed ... Moscow University became more and more. At the beginning, he occupied several buildings on Mokhovaya Street, which is opposite the Kremlin, and in the mid-fifties of the XX century (just on the eve of the first youth festival for our country) he acquired a new house, which to this day is one of the visiting cards not only of Moscow , but all of the Russian students, youth.

The famous skyscraper has secured the title of the tallest building in Europe for half a century. Today's university is even larger and occupies the entire vicinity of Vorobyovy Gory. The population of this “microtown”, together with all students, teachers and staff, is approaching a hundred thousand. The vast square in front of the University is formed by the intersection of several streets and a large park.

This is a favorite walking place not only for students, but also for all Muscovites and tourists. Still, from the observation deck on the Vorobyovs - the whole city, at a glance! October 14, 2016 it was here that the most ambitious festive events "A Year before the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students!" Its participants gave a start to the countdown of time, a clock in the form of a festival chamomile throughout the year became another decoration of Vorobyovy Gory!

Olympic Park, Sochi

Before the Olympics in Sochi, the world was perplexed: how can you hold winter competitions in a subtropical climate? It's that simple! Directly by the sea, among the palm trees, the Olympic Park was built with indoor stadiums and facilities, inside which they created their own microclimate.

Real winter - in the mountains - only half an hour away, but more on that later. The compactness and logistical accuracy of the Olympic Park will allow the festival to be held conveniently and safely. The constant companion of the participants will be the warm Black Sea breeze.

Navigation between hotels and facilities is clear and logical. October in Sochi is the end of the so-called velvet season. Guests from the south will not feel chilly, and our northern colleagues will not feel the sweltering heat. No wonder Sochi is crossed by the central 45th parallel.

Rosa Khutor, Sochi
