NAVIBAND - Belarusian musical group from Minsk, founded by Ksenia Zhuk and Artyom Lukyanenko in early 2013 in the city of Minsk (Belarus).
The group includes: Artyom Lukyanenko (vocals, guitar), Ksenia Zhuk (vocals, keys), as well as Vladislav Cheshchevik (bass), Alexander Tobolsky (electric guitar), Vladimir Beger (drums).
The debut single "Abdymyane" was very warmly received by the audience and music critics. In January 2014, the presentation of the first album of the group called "Catch" took place. Sergei Babkin, having heard the music of NAVIBAND, personally invited the group to perform together at a concert in Minsk.
NAVIBAND took part in the selection of Belarus for Eurovision 2016 with the song "Geta zemlya", in the final of which they took 4th place.
In 2017, the group again took part in the selection of Belarus with the composition "History of Maygo Zhytstya". On November 30, the group successfully passed the auditions and was selected to participate in the final selection on January 20, 2017.
In the final national preselection the group took 1st place and will represent Belarus at Eurovision 2017, which will be held in May 2017 in Kyiv. After the draw, it became known that the group will perform in the second semi-final on May 11.
“Each of the songs is truly an event we have ever lived. Therefore, we feel how we play, and we play how we feel. Everything is sincere, which means for real, ”the musicians say about themselves.

At Eurovision, Belarus is represented by the young group Navi with the song "History Maygo Zhytstya". "NN" collected Interesting Facts about the team.

He is from Glubokoe, she is from Minsk

The Navi group is Artem Lukyanenko and Ksenia Zhuk. He is 24 years old, she is 25. “She is a bullet, he is calm, reasonable,” says Ksenia's mother Natalya Zhuk.

Artyom was born in the town of Glubokoye, graduated from the Belarusian-language gymnasium No. 3, where his mother taught biology. Then Artem studied journalism at Belarusian State University, worked at the radio "Capital".

Ksenia was born in the capital, her parents studied at the Pedagogical University, participated in a theater troupe. Ksenia teaches vocals for children at school.

Both Xenia and Artem were sent to a music school for a piano class, only Artem freaked out and quit. A new passion for music began at the age of 12, with attempts to learn how to play the guitar. But Ksenia has not mastered the guitar, although she asks Artem to teach her.

Dating on Valentine's Day

Artem and Ksenia met quite by accident, it happened on February 14, 2013. Ksenia arrived at the rehearsal room, where Artem was just playing. The guy says that he immediately liked Ksenina's spontaneity, she asked to touch Artem's curls, to make sure they were real. “I said “hello, maybe we can sing together,” Artem says.

At that time, both Artem and Ksenia had different projects. However, Ksenia says that she did not feel herself in the Sonika group, she performed what she was asked. After some time, Lukyanenko wrote the text "Abdymyane" and invited Ksenia to sing it together. It was the first hit new group. It is interesting that in Russia the title of the song was translated approximately as “Blow me”.

By the way, the name Navi means nothing. We can say that just a set of letters. Although in English the consonant "navy" means "fleet". And later the guys learned that in Georgian navi means "boat", and in Italian "nave" - boat, ship.

We traveled all over the country with "Moway Nanova"

Artem and Ksenia not only sing in Belarusian, but also actively promote the Belarusian language. The group supports the Mova Nanova project. And not only in Minsk, but also in such cities as Molodechno, Bobruisk, Grodno. " Belarusian language becomes a trend, and it pleases,” says Ksenia Zhuk.

“We went to a concert in Moscow and there we sang half of the songs in Belarusian. Muscovites took us absolutely adequately. I can't convey those feelings when they wrote to us: "You warmed us." And the performances just took place in severe frosts.

However, the group often emphasizes that it is out of politics. “We can perform at the Slavyansky Bazaar, and then go to Basovishcha,” Artem said.

Not the first selection attempt

In 2016, Navi already tried to get to the Eurovision final with the song "Geta zemlya". But preference was given to Drobysh's protege Ivan "y. True, in Sweden he did not even manage to reach the final. "Here, apparently, not even creativity, but money, reputation, and so on, but the support was incredible," he said emotionally Artem Lukyanenko.

Navi was really supported by a lot of people that year, even the editor of Sovetskaya Belorussiya Pavel Yakubovich. “I am not satisfied with the result of the selection, because personally I was worried, rooting for Navi. I think this is a very nice group. I sent two text messages - from myself and my wife, ”he said.

Joint projects with Grishkovets, correspondence with Gillian Anderson

Let Navi sing in Belarusian, but in Russia they are also well known. For example, Navi performed at the anniversary evening of Diana Arbenina (she is also from Belarus) in Moscow. They performed together in Mogilev. They performed as an opening act for Sergei Babkin.

In Gomel, in a small bar, their performance was accidentally seen by a famous Russian playwright Evgeny Grishkovets. “They sang in Belarusian and Russian. It was so incredible that I forgot that I was in a pub, there was an impression big concert". Subsequently, this group, together with Grishkovets, recorded the song "Lullaby". The plans are to record a joint track in the Belarusian language.

At the age of 14, Ksenia Zhuk met the famous American actress Gillian Anderson (Scully's agent from " X-Files"). It happened at the Giffoni Film Festival in Italy. Ksenia told that she sings. Two months later, Anderson's agents contacted her with a request to forward the material. The girl after that still corresponded with Anderson, talked on the phone.

Ksenia Zhuk says that the material was still raw, so nothing came of it. Now she and Artem Lukyanenko are more confident in themselves and their work.

The NAVIBAND group is the music of the sun from the city of Minsk. NAVI is Ksenia Zhuk (previously known as Sonika, the title song from her album "New Day" sounds in the Belarusian TV series "Above the Sky") and Artem Lukyanenko (who also played in the projects of Tim Erna and KRISTINA, host of the radio station "Stalitsa").

Mom noticed musical ability Xenia when she was six years old. Even before a regular school, the girl went to study in music, in the piano class. Artem also studied piano at music school, but could not stand her, and did not finish his education. And at the age of 12 he began to play the guitar, rehearse in garages, perform in public. Ksenia also dreams of learning to play the guitar, but while in the group she has to master the instruments brought by Artem - kazoo (American folk musical instrument) and a xylophone.

Artem and Ksenia met on Valentine's Day three years ago. The duet started with the composition "Abdymyane", and realized that one song is not enough here - and so they decided to create a project. Already in October 2013, the first solo concert NAVI. In a short time, the project was nominated for several music awards, performed at the concerts of the leader Russian rock band"Night Snipers" by Diana Arbenina in Moscow and Mogilev, Russian channel MusicBox and Ukrainian channel A-One took the clip of the musicians for "Abdymyana" into rotation. With him, the group won the online competition of the Golden Voice festival (Russia).

In January 2014, the presentation of the first album of the group called "LOVI" took place. In the summer of 2014, the band took part in the major Polish festival Halfway festival, where they performed on the same stage with Lisa Hannigan. In December 2014, the band's acoustic album was released on mother tongue"Sagratiya to the suns". Also in December, the group took part in the national selection for Eurovision 2015 with the song "I will choose myself", but failed to reach the final of the selection. The musicians won in the "Discovery of the Year" nomination, and also took an award for " best song in their native language" in the National music award Lyra. In June 2015, the group performed at a major Russian festival"Wild mint". At the end of 2015, the NAVI group released the Belarusian version of the Radioactive song of the group imagine Dragons timed to coincide with the performance of the American band in Minsk. The group continues to be active tour activity both in Belarus and abroad.

The new album "Illumination" was released by the group on January 20, the day of the final of the national preselection. The album includes eight compositions of the band, some of which are new. One of these was "Lullaby". Her Artem Lukyanenko and Ksenia Zhuk recently recorded with Russian musician Evgeny Grishkovets. Half of the album is made up of compositions in Belarusian. The album is available for free download and can be heard on Soundcloud . The concert presentation of the album will take place in Minsk on February 14.

"Illumination" is a cheerful and sad music. The name of the album was not chosen by chance. Once our music was compared to light in the dark. We are very fond of this comparison. In addition, the word "illumination" in Russian and in Belarusian sounds the same. Well, besides, we really believe that these songs will be able to light up in the hearts of our listeners," said Artem and Ksenia

NAVI took part in qualifying rounds Belarus for the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2015, with the song "I'll Choose Myself", they did not pass the audition, in 2016, with the song "Heta Land", they took 4th place, and in 2017, they were able to win with "History of Maygo Zhytstya".

"The song is faith in a wonderful future, faith in the best and only good, although there is a lot behind. The song is a holiday, happiness and joy to live on your own native land, create and give people only warm emotions. It is this song that will be able to charge and give feelings of joy to the audience of Eurovision 2017 in Kyiv, so we will definitely not change the composition. We believe that the time has come for the Belarusian language to sound throughout Europe. In our song there will be a place to listen and a place to shout together. We don't know how to guess, and we won't. But we'll try to do our best."

NAVIBAND consists of musicians: guitarist, music video maker and partly sound producer Sasha Tobolsky, drummer Vova Beger, bassist Vlad Cheshchevik, sound engineer Yaroslav Tomilo, band director Zhenya Vegas. The band is recording at the ToneTwins studio with Andrey Katikov and Vlad Pashkevich. Belarusian designer Sergei Verinsky is working on the images.

NAVI songs are full of youthful charm, positive perception of life and open to the world lyrics, which are especially wonderful in the soft Belarusian language. On the this moment NAVI is the most a prime example Belarusian indie, in which light acoustic notes and fashionable dance-pop rhythms can be traced. Their music is like the first spring greenery - unclouded and completely new, full of hidden power and aspirations to the hearts of the listeners, sincere and therefore especially relevant.

On January 20, it became known that our country at the next Eurovision Song Contest in May will be represented by the young group Navi with the song “History Maygo Zhytstya”.
