Reshetnikov painted this picture in 1948. It depicts children. The boy has just arrived home for the holidays. He gladly salutes his grandfather, probably an excellent student. There is no fear in his gaze that his parents will scold him, on the contrary, his gaze is full of pride. The old man who stands opposite the boy is probably a grandfather and he is happy for his grandson. We can only assume that grandfather served in the war. And he considers his grandson a worthy change of himself in the family.

Looking at the picture, we can see a portrait of a soldier hanging on the wall. Most likely, the photo shows the boy's father. Probably, he died in the war, but the memory that the family keeps about him is sacred for them. Nearby we see the painting "Three Heroes". It was not for nothing that Reshetnikov portrayed the heroes of Russian epics and the soldier who died in the war. The artist wanted to show us the heroism of both heroes and a simple soldier. The image of a girl fades into the background, probably the boy's sister. On the table we see unfolded notebooks and textbooks laid out, most likely she taught her lessons. It seems to me that she will neatly fold her belongings, remove them from the table, and the whole family will celebrate the boy's arrival on vacation.

The author managed to create a festive atmosphere on the canvas, a tree decorated in the corner of the room, a solemn and joyful meeting. I think that a grandfather for a grandson is an example of imitation, especially since his father died in the war. And the grandson, in turn, loves his grandfather very much, not only because he gives him sweets, but also because he tells him various military stories. After all, there is no father left and you need to live on, you need to look for your ideal, whom you are not ashamed to be like, whom you are proud of and do not hesitate to introduce to your friends. I really liked this picture. There is a lot of family warmth and comfort in it. I want to return to this family, because you know that they are always waiting for you there and you are always welcome.

Why Fyodor Reshetnikov's painting "Arrived for Vacation" became the most replicated painting Soviet Union?

Announcement of laureates Stalin Prize in the field of literature and art - this is not a joke to you. All of Moscow was waiting for the events, and everyone who got on the coveted lists had already prepared banquets in advance, so that on the evening of Saturday, April 9, 1949, in Moscow restaurants there was nowhere for an apple to fall from the titled order-bearing public. Everyone gathered by nine o'clock in the evening, when the announcer Levitan began to read the list on the radio.

Writers, as usual, waited for the announcement of the laureates in the restaurant Central House Literary man.

The actors are at the Metropol.

But the artists - who is where. Those who were richer feasted at the Savoy Hotel, while those who were poorer occupied tables in the Priboi near Yakimanskaya Embankment.

- Eh, Fedka, bring vodka, now we will walk!
- Bring champagne!
- Hush, comrades, hush. Now they will read it!

And then the chimes rang out, and Yuri Borisovich Levitan in a solemn voice began to announce the long list of laureates. The first were writers, followed by poets, then filmmakers, actors, musicians.

Finally, the painters. Levitan roars: the first prize in the field of painting - Kukryniksam for the monumental painting "The End".

- Well done, Kukryniksy, - the people sigh, - they deserve it. Throughout the war, they plowed like the damned, every day according to a drawing in the newspaper "Pravda". We deserve it.

Second Prize - Alexander Gerasimov for the monumental painting "Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin at the tomb of Comrade Zhdanov".

Well, everything is clear here too: Alexander Mikhailovich is the president of the USSR Academy of Arts.

No questions asked, we drink to Comrade Finogenov.

Fedor Reshetnikov. Self-portrait

Then Krivonogov - for the painting "Victory". Good picture and the artist is good. Front-line soldier, walked the whole war all the way to Berlin. And he drew not the leaders, but the infantry, calcined by fire. Let's drink, comrades!

Finally, Fyodor Reshetnikov is announced. The second Stalin Prize - and for some reason for two pictures at once. For the portrait "Generalissimo of the Soviet Union I. V. Stalin" and for the painting "Arrived for Vacation".

The artists exchange glances, they don't understand anything.

- What kind of Reshetnikov? - the academics, whitened with gray hair, are perplexed.
- Yes, a cartoonist, "Chelyuskinets" ...
- Well ... Once the "Chelyuskinets" ... Deserved! But all the same it is somehow incomprehensible: is it possible to put next to a portrait of Comrade Stalin himself with some kind of everyday picture?
- So it was Comrade Stalin himself who put it, you need to understand!

At first glance, the picture is really everyday and frivolous: a pink-cheeked Suvorov boy, who came home for the New Year holidays, bravoly reports his arrival to his grandfather. But the front-line soldiers look at her and aches the heart: after the war, children whose parents died at the front were usually taken to the Suvorov School. That is, both the father died and the mother, leaving the brother and sister in the care of the grandfather.

Something she hooked on Comrade Stalin, since in 1948 he ordered to print Reshetnikov's drawing on new Soviet New Year's cards.

Here, of course, it is worth clarifying that until 1947, January 1 was the most ordinary working day, and there was no official new year holiday did not exist in nature. No, of course, people organized feasts, schools held Christmas trees and New Year's parties, but - purely unofficial. It is surprising that the USSR post office also issued New Year Greeting Cards, but - without any hint of Christmas symbolism.

But then our soldiers from the liberated countries of Europe began to bring home colorful foreign Christmas cards. And so, in order to stop the "ideological offensive", the party leadership decided to issue their own correct "open postcards", the first of which was a reproduction of Reshetnikov's painting.

As a result, the total circulation of postcards with a reproduction of the painting "Arrived on Vacation" exceeded 13 million copies!

This picture became a record holder - neither then nor after that there were no more postcards in such a gigantic quantity in the world.

And after all, something so close and dear was seen in this simple everyday picture by all Soviet people- something that, perhaps, we, their descendants, no longer see.

Fedor Reshetnikov. Arrived for vacation

Fyodor Pavlovich Reshetnikov himself did not remember his parents.

He was born in 1906 in the village of Sursko-Litovsk, which once stood near the city of Yekaterinoslav.

As soon as Fedya was three years old, during another binge, his father fell from the scaffolding in the church, where he was painting the ceiling with marvelous angelic faces. But the angels did not save him, Pavel Reshetnikov crashed to death, and then his mother died. As if she had dried up from some kind of disease, and from what - no one really knew.

The boy was taken up by his elder brother Vasily, who also worked in a bogomaz artel - they walked through the villages and painted churches. Little Fedya was assigned an apprentice - he washed brushes, rubbed and diluted paints, dreaming of learning how to paint himself.

Then in Russian empire came World War, followed by a revolution and a civil war. No one built churches anymore, earnings fell, and the brother simply kicked Fyodor out of the house - they say, it's enough to be a freeloader, it's time to earn a living himself. And Fedya went through the cities and villages. He begged, stole, worked as a painter, carpenter and miner.

In the late 1920s, fate brought him to Moscow, where, by some miracle, he entered to study at VKHUTEMAS - Higher art and technical workshops.

In 1932, Reshetnikov took part in the heroic raid of the Sibiryakov icebreaker. On the ship, he published "The Arctic Crocodile" - a cheerful wall newspaper, which was loved by all polar explorers. In the conditions of the polar night and eternal cold, the reserve of vigor and Have a good mood you begin to appreciate even more than a bar of chocolate, and only God knows where in Fedor with his biography there was so much inexhaustible optimism.

Two years later, Reshetnikov was called on an expedition to the Chelyuskin. The expedition had a task: before the onset of winter, by all means enter the Bering Strait. But long-term pack ice so compressed the icebreaker that the hull cracked and water gushed into the holds. The icebreaker sank for two hours while the members of the expedition landed on the ice.

And already on the fourth day after the death of "Chelyuskin" the first issue of the wall newspaper "We will not surrender!" with drawings by Reshetnikov. Reshetnikov worked in truly inhuman conditions - either hunched over, squatting, or lying on his stomach ... But Schmidt's camp reacted enthusiastically to each new drawing.

Then there was the war, and Reshetnikov worked as an artist for the front-line newspaper Krasny Chernomorets. It was then that he discovered the children's theme. Just one day I saw with what joyful faces the Suvorovites were going home - however, only those who had a home and at least some of their relatives ...

He himself did not have such a house.

Nobody expected his return either.

Perhaps that is why the drawing with the little Suvorov soldier turned out to be so warm - Fyodor Reshetnikov expressed all his longing for home and family in this picture.

In 1952, Reshetnikov painted, perhaps, his most famous painting"Deuce again!" Whole generations Soviet schoolchildren they wrote compositions based on this picture, denouncing a careless student.

But few people know that original design the picture was completely different - then Reshetnikov decided to paint a picture about an excellent student who reports to his mother about the next five. The artist went to the nearest Moscow school to look for such an excellent student. The teachers, of course, went to meet the Stalin Prize laureate and put the artist on the "Kamchatka" - on the farthest desk.

Fedor Reshetnikov. Deuce again

But then Reshetnikov did not find an excellent student. At the sight of a serious unfamiliar uncle, the guys were embarrassed and thought that they had sent a check to the school from the city council. Even an excellent student was disgraced from excitement, who, standing at the blackboard, could not solve even the most simple problem. He was prompted, but the boy did not hear anything. He just stood there with his head down and silently twisted the chalk in his hands.

The sight of the unfortunate child amazed the artist. He abandoned the previous idea and drew his "two", where an ordinary boy - alive and not stupid - was reprimanded by his relatives for a bad mark. It's just that the boy was very carried away by the new skates that stick out of his old briefcase - so it turned out that nothing happened ...

Already working on new picture Reshetnikov suddenly remembered how other critics literally took apart his picture with the Suvorovite. Most of all, he remembered the stupid questions, and why is it hanging on the wall of the room the picture "Three heroes" by Vasnetsov?

Then Reshetnikov could not find a funny and witty answer, but now he came up with an idea how to confuse critics even more.

And on the wall of the room in the painting "Deuce Again!" he painted the reproduction again - but this time with his own painting"Arrived for Vacation."

And here is a reproduction of the painting "Deuce Again!" he put in the painting "Re-examination" in 1954. It's summer outside, but the already familiar student has to sit at home and study in order to retake the exam - in those years all students took exams after the fifth grade.

Fedor Reshetnikov. Resit

Once again, critics wondered: what do these nomadic reproductions mean?

But the task is simple: the son of the Russian icon painter Fyodor Reshetnikov painted his trinity of Russian heroes.

Professional military Dobrynya.

The hooligan Alyoshka, who does not want to take up his mind in any way.

Stubborn Ilya, sitting at home reading books, while the rest of the guys are playing football in the yard.

Bogatyrs, who were to crush all the filthy idols.

And so it happened.

Who now remembers all these countless portraits of leaders, for which the government so generously showered gold? And the Russian guys - here they are. So what if the Losers, they still show themselves, give a time.

The painting "Deuce Again", in which the boy stands with his head bowed, and his family gaze at him reproachfully, is probably known not only to the Soviet, but also modern schoolchildren... Parents often reproached their children, comparing them to the child on the canvas when they brought bad luck. And at school it was necessary to write an essay on the picture. It would seem that the plot is simple and straightforward, but the picture was created under curious circumstances.

Fedor Reshetnikov painted the painting "Deuce Again" in 1952. It is one of three canvases related to each other by a common theme. If you follow the chronology, then the first picture written was "Arrived on Vacation". The artist depicted a young Suvorov soldier who came to visit his relatives on vacation. It can be seen that the boy is proud of his position, and his grandfather meets him, as befits a soldier, at attention.

In his next work, Fyodor Pavlovich decided to make an excellent student the main character. To do this, he went to school and asked the teacher to attend the lesson to observe the children. An excellent student was summoned to the blackboard and given a simple task, but to everyone's surprise, the boy did not cope and stood with his head bowed. He was very confused, believing that the painter on the back desk was the examiner.

Then Reshetnikov came up with another idea - to paint a picture about a poor student. At first, the artist conceived of portraying a boy in the classroom near the blackboard, but then he transferred the action to the house.

A disheveled young goalkeeper from a neighboring yard perfectly suited the role of the protagonist. Fyodor Pavlovich, just in case, did not tell him that the boy was playing the role of a poor student.

The most difficult thing was with the dog - she refused to stand on two legs. Then I had to buy sausages. The owner beckoned the dog with a piece of sausage, and she took the right position. This continued until the delicacy ended. By the way, in the background wall you can see a picture of the artist's previous painting "Arrived on Vacation".

The final picture of this "trilogy" was "Re-examination". This time the action takes place in the village. The boy needs to prepare for the re-examination, and he is absolutely unhappy, because friends call him to walk outside. And again, the previous painting by Reshetnikov is visible on the wall, emphasizing the continuity of the theme.

The paintings of Fyodor Reshetnikov fully conveyed the mood Soviet era the middle of the twentieth century. These are another confirmation of this.

New Year Holidays at school and at the Suvorov military school. The boy, for his success in preparation, was released on vacation.

New Year's holidays at school and at the Suvorov military school. The boy, for his success in preparation, was released on vacation. Perhaps this is the same Mitya, who received a deuce and who was sent to the Suvorov school with its much stricter discipline for correction.
And here we have a slender, fit boy, in full Suvorov uniform, with an official suitcase and an excellent bearing, so to speak "a military bone".
He gives the report of his arrival to his grandfather, as he was taught at the school and the grandfather, standing at the stand "at attention", accepts his report. It can be seen that the grandfather, who maintained an upright posture, was once a military man himself and happily recalls the past. The atmosphere in the room is clearly festive. Sister, in the front school uniform prepares the table, removing notebooks and textbooks, next to it there is a decorated Christmas tree, decorated with toys and garlands. A cat sits on a chair, waiting for handouts, but realizes that there is nothing edible on the table yet and he is patiently waiting.
A simple table, a wooden chair tell us about a simple family, and a portrait of a man hanging on the wall probably speaks of a father, whose memory is kept in a family where he did not return from the war. The Suvorov schools most often accepted children whose fathers were in the military and died in the war. Such guys received full government support, which, of course, greatly facilitated financial situation families without a breadwinner.
It can be seen how the boy is glad that he has returned to the family, that the surroundings are familiar, it can be seen that he loves his grandfather and happily gives him a report.
As usual, there is a rug on the floor in front of the entrance, possibly tied by the hands of the mistress of the house, but next to it lies a beautiful, colorful carpet.
We are happy for the boy, for his family and wish that everything in their life went well.

Continuing the school theme, I will post about the painting "Arrived for Vacation".

Arrived for vacation.

Before us is FP Reshetnikov's painting "Arrived for Vacation". The painting depicts the boy Vasya, a student of the Moscow Suvorov School. On the eve, the school announced that if the student finishes the second quarter with an excellent student, he will be allowed to go home for the New Year holidays. And now he is on the train and will soon be at home. Arriving in his city, he walks along his native street. And he sees a small house. Vasya came up to him and knocked on the door. An old grandfather opened for him. He went into the house. There is a carpet in the center of the room on the parquet floor. On the table - tutorials sisters. There is a wooden chair by the table, on which sits a white fluffy cat. On the wall is a portrait of a father who died in the war. Below is a picture of Basnetsov "Heroes". There is a brightly colored sofa against the wall. In the corner there is an elegant tree. At the table is a sister who was going to do her homework. She is in a blue dress, a white apron, a red pioneer tie is tied on the collar of her dress, and a white bow on her head. The girl is surprised to meet her brother, smiles at him. Grandpa Vasya is also glad to meet you. He is dressed in black trousers, a pink shirt, slippers, and a black satin vest. His curly beard and his entire head are covered with gray hair, glasses on the tip of his nose, he is very surprised, stretched out like a string. Suvorov's Vasya has boots polished to a shine, buttons and a buckle are cast in gold, a black uniform overcoat with red shoulder straps, a gray cap with earflaps on his head, ironed trousers with red stripes, in his left hand he holds a suitcase. Vasya has a snow-white smile, pink cheeks, wide-open eyes. Grandpa and sister, we are very glad to see Vasya. And he has a lot of admiration, happiness, that he is at home. My sister asked everything about how he lives in the school, how he studies, whether it is difficult for him there. After staying with his relatives, having fun with his sister, Vasya was forced to return to the school to continue his studies. After Vasya's departure, everything fell into place. Relatives hope that Vasya will study perfectly well, which will allow them to see each other more often.

Arrived for vacation 2.

The Great Patriotic War... Grief came to Vanya's family. Vanin's father was killed at the front. But the image of a brave, decisive, courageous father remained in the boy's heart. Vanya also wanted to become a military man and in the fall he entered the Moscow Suvorov School. It was not easy at first: it was necessary to get up very early, wear military uniform, live far from home. But time passed quickly. Vacation has come, and Vanya is like one of best students got the right to go on vacation. And now, finally, he arrived home. With ease, Vanya went up to the fourth floor and pressed the bell button. Grandpa opened the door for him. Vanya ran into the room, famously put his hand to his cap and clearly reported: "Cadet Vanya Soldatov has arrived for the holidays!" Grandfather, standing at attention with a serious expression on his face, listened to Vanya, came up and hugged his grandson. He was very glad to meet his beloved grandson. Grandfather began to ask Vanya about his studies, and Vanya told in detail about his friends, studies, what new he saw and learned during this time. I watched it all younger sister... She just got home from school doing homework. She looked at her grown-up brother with undisguised delight. Vanya was wearing boots polished to a shine, the buttons and buckle of his black uniform overcoat with shoulder straps were cast in gold. Vanya had a gray hat with earflaps on his head, ironed black trousers with red stripes on his legs, and in his hand a suitcase with things. Grandpa was wearing black trousers, slippers, under a satin vest Brown color the sleeves of a pink shirt were visible. Grandfather's face was very cheerful, glasses hung on his nose, gray hair on his head, and a gray curly beard on his chin. The sister was wearing a blue dress, a white apron hung around her neck and tied to her belt, a red pioneer tie was attached to the collar of her dress, and a blue bow was on her head. And the room itself was not large, the floor was covered with parquet, the carpet was multi-colored, there was a white, blue-edged tablecloth on the table, a mourning portrait of his father, who died in the war, hung on the wall, Vasnetsov's painting "Heroes" was hanging below the portrait, a brown one was standing near the table. wooden chair on which she sat and looked at the girl White cat, on the floor next to the painting "Heroes" there was a multi-colored sofa, to the right of the sofa there was a Christmas tree decorated. As soon as Vanya left, she would usual life... Everyone would be sad. But everyone would well remember this happy moment in their lives.
