For the twelfth time, the capital of Russia will host a festival that is celebrated all over the world - "Night of Museums". On the night from Saturday to Sunday (from May 19 to May 20, 2018), all museums in Moscow will receive visitors at a special time.

People will have the opportunity not only to look at interesting exhibits, but also to listen to a special program that each museum participating in the action prepares specifically for this festival. In 2018, more than two hundred museums in Moscow and various exhibition centers took part in the action.

1978 is the year of the birth of the International Day of Museums. Exactly forty years ago, on May 18, 1970, the first celebration and solemn festivities were held on the occasion of this day. Today, more than two hundred states celebrate the International Day of Museums, and the Russian Federation is one of them.

From the beginning of the celebration and hell until 1991, this holiday did not generate demand among the population. This day was considered solemn only by those who had anything to do with the museum, often it was workers. Over time, interest in the holiday has grown among historians, art historians, and archaeologists, who also have an indirect relationship to the existence of museums.

A year later, it was decided to set a special theme for this day every year and come up with a motto corresponding to it. This strategy was correct, as so many people immediately became interested in Museum Day, and wanted to participate and join in the celebration. As a result, the celebration was held on a wider scale, which is why patrons, sponsors and authorities had to invest much more money in the event.

And in 1997 in Germany, before the International Day of Museums, the authorities came up with the idea of opening museums where festivities were held and it was possible to visit a cultural building at a time that was considered non-working on ordinary days. Two years later, a similar tradition was taken up by Germany's neighbor, France. And in 2001, thirty-nine more countries around the world took such a new look at the celebration.

In 2008, the International Museum Day was celebrated by ninety states from all over the world. And the number of museums that debuted in the event exceeded 20 thousand. In 2015, this World Holiday was celebrated by more than 150 countries of the world.

To date, more than two hundred countries around the world will take part in the event to celebrate the Museum Day. In the Russian Federation, it will be held under the motto "Masterpieces from the storerooms".

The free admission to Moscow museums is held monthly, every third Sunday. These days, everyone can get acquainted with the exposition of the museums controlled by the Department of Cultural Affairs of Moscow for free.

Visiting museums in Belokamennaya is available to everyone. The Department of Culture of the capital adopted a resolution that states that one day of each month, admission to museums supervised by the Department of Culture of Moscow will be free. Now every 3rd Sunday of the month any visitor will be able to enter the museums free of charge. For schoolchildren

In 2017, a new project "Museums for Children" is being implemented in the Museums of Moscow. Throughout the year, schoolchildren will have access to 90 museums in the city. Teachers will be able to conduct field thematic lessons here, and schoolchildren from 6 to 17 years old will be able to visit interesting exhibitions at a convenient time.

Together with a group of children, an accompanying adult passes free of charge. The visit is carried out on a Muscovite social card or Moskvenok card... To enter, you do not need to buy a ticket, just hold the card to a special reader. A visit to the museum is recorded in the student's electronic diary.

Birthday

There are not many museums that offer discounts on birthdays. Discounts are available at the Moscow Planetarium, as well as at the Children's Museum-Theater, which is located on Pionerskaya.

But there is a practice of holding organized holidays in museums. Several interesting festive programs for birthday people and their guests are provided by the Museum of Cosmonautics.
