Vasilyev invented the term "assembly choreography" and carried out it in his on-screen work. Experts noted that at the same time he "keeps his only fair-music in his head." And his musical taste is immaculate. Interesting experiments were the work of Vasilyev on the dramatic scene: the choreography of the tales-comedy "Princess and the Woodrovosk" in the theater "Contemporary" (1969) and rock opera "Juno and Avos" in the theater Lenkom (1981), director and choreography musical -dramatic compositions "Tale of the Pop and an employee of his Bald" (1989), "The artist reads the Bible" (1994).

Vasilyev revealed and as a teacher. In 1982, he graduated from the choreographic faculty of guitis in the specialty of the balletmaster-director and immediately began to teach there. So after the appointment (by the way, by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation) in 1995, the artistic director - director of the Bolshoi Theater Vasilyev gave the floor to deal with only organizational issues. He managed to bring the theater from the difficult crisis condition in which he was in those years: the new director approved the modern contract system, revived the traditions of the Benefishes of the Cordenete, Choir and Orchestra, organized his own video studio of the theater and prepared a permanent transmission cycle on Culture TV channel. But only the work was improving, Vasilyev returned to choreography and performing performances (although he hadn't done it again), organized the Academy of Classical Dance in Brazil, conducted many charitable shares in support of the renovation of the Bolshoi Theater. But it is only a drop in the sea. And in September 2000 Vasilyev. He was released from his position "in connection with the reduction of state". But he performed his task completely: a big triumphantly returned to world scenes.

Currently, Vladimir Viktorovich actively cooperates with many theaters of the country and the world, participates (and heads) in the work of the jury of various international competitions of ballet artists, gives master classes, rehearse, prepares new performances and roles. At the end of 2000, the premiere of the play "Long Journey to Christmas Night", dedicated to PI, held in the Roman opera with a triumphal success. Tchaikovsky, the main role in which was overlooking 60-year-old Vasiliev, and in 2001 - the premieres of its stages of Don Quixote in Tokyo-ballet troupe (Japan) and Cinderella in the Chelyabinsk Opera and Ballet Theater. Vladimir Viktorovich continues and social activities for the benefit of ballet and art development. He is an honorary professor of Moscow State University, a full member of the International Academy of Creativity and the Academy of Russian Art, Secretary of the Union of Theater Workers of Russia, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Russian Center for the International Dance Council for UNESCO. And also Vasilyev for the past 15 years is the permanent artistic director of the competition "Arabesque".

They were presented at three personal exhibitions of his work.
