However, the use of such programs is not always justified immediately for all directions, especially since they are paid for, and only part of the possibilities are available in free packages. Similar bulky programs can be replaced by less well-known, but from this no less effective utilities. For example, the CPU-Z utility can be enjoyed with great popularity among overloquers, capable of reporting information both about the processor itself and about the motherboard and RAM. To carry out detailed control and manage memory timings, you can use a small MEMSET program.

To overclock the processor, the best option will be the use of BIOS. But, unfortunately, the manufacturers of computers do not always provide a similar opportunity. In this case, you can use the universal setfsb utility, which we will consider more than later. In addition, you should always get acquainted with the contents of the CD-disk, which is complete with the motherboard. Often, manufacturers are supplied with the software driver drivers, which have the ability to overclock the processor from Windows.

One important truth should always be remembered: none of the existing programs for overclocking processors can give you a warranty 100%. Basics of overclocking processors

Therefore, when specifying their nominal frequencies, dividers are used. But so modern processors have a markedly greater frequency, so that it is able to work at its nominal frequency, multipliers are applied.

Let us give an example. The operation of the Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 processor is carried out at a tire frequency of 266 MHz. His multiplier is x7. The FSB frequency product on this multiplier will give the final frequency of the processor of 1.86 GHz. Therefore, to perform the processor acceleration, it is necessary to either increase the FSB frequency or the multiplier.

More than senior models of modern processors are characterized by free factors. But such processors have a high cost, which may be an order of magnitude higher than that of the younger processors of the family. Therefore, the acquisition of such processors is not entirely rational, since with the help of overclocking, it is possible to achieve the performance of junior processors comparable to the performance of senior fellow.

Therefore, overclocking any processor is usually an increase in FSB frequency. If you take an Intel Core 2 Duo processor acceleration as an example, then with an increase in the bus frequency up to 400 MHz, the processor frequency can increase to 2.8 GHz. If we increase FSB to 500, then in this case the processor frequency will already be 3.5 GHz. Preparatory stage

Before you begin overclocking the processor, you have to make a couple of mandatory steps. The first thing should go to the manufacturer's website of your motherboard and check whether the more fresh version of the BIOS is not posted. Such processors have their own feature - the so-called FSB Wall. This concept describes the maximum tire clock frequency at which this processor can work. By reducing the multiplier to X6, you can find out at what maximum frequency of the tire your instance will be able to work.

By the word, a processor having a nominal frequency of 200 MHz bus is almost never accelerated to a frequency exceeding 400 MHz FSB. This factor should be considered by choosing the Core series processor. Why pay for the processor of an older ruler, if much cheaper and easier to make an overclocking of the younger processor. At the same time, it is necessary to remember that the younger CPUs having a nominal multiplier X8 will most likely restriction due to FSB Wall, and on this frequency after overclocking will not be able to go above 3.2 GHz. Therefore, in order not to limit yourself in advance at the maximum possible frequency, when buying, pay attention to processors that have a multiplier X9.

Processors having a nominal frequency of the tire 266 or 333 MHz are also selected junior and having a multiplier X7. But here, in addition to the notorious FSB Wall, acceleration can be complicated in the addition of motherboard and RAM capabilities. After you chose your chip, press the GET FSB button.

If after you have pressed the SETFSB button, the computer hung or turned off, do not be afraid. This only means that you either indicated the wrong PLL, or very much influenced the frequency. The Prime95 program has the ability to generate a serious load on the computer processor. Testing will be completed successfully if the processor for at least fifteen minutes will work stably and does not hang. After successful completion of testing, you can try to increase the frequency of the processor and start testing the system again.

If you want to interrupt the test earlier, you can do this using the menu, as shown in the figure below.

Raising the frequency and immediately checking the stability of the system using PRIME95 you can achieve maximum processor frequency at which it will work steadily over a large period of time at maximum loads. After all the manipulations with overclocking and defining the optimal frequency, you need to add the SETFSB program to autoload. Otherwise, all your changes will be lost after the first reboot of the PC.

First of all, create a BAT script. For what you need a regular standard notepad, in which you need to do approximately such entry:
