Raimonds Pauls.

Born on January 12, 1936 in Riga in the Glokhod family. His father worked at the Ilqüghem glass factory. From three years he visited kindergarten of the 1st Music Institute, where the musical education of the future composer began.

In 1946, Raymond Pauls entered a music school at the Conservatory of the Latvian SSR. In 1953, he became a student of the executive branch of the Latvian State Conservatory; His mentor in the class of piano was Professor Herman Brown. In parallel with the study, Pauls worked as a pianist in the pop orchestras of trade union clubs. After graduating from the course in 1958, Raymond Pauls worked in the Riga Estain Orchestra, he spoke with concerts in Georgia, Armenia, in Ukraine.

In 1962-1965, he studied the compositions in the Latvian Conservatory, where His mentor was Ya. Ivanov, and in 1964 he took the post of artistic director of the Riga Pop Orchestra of the State Philharmonic of Latvia.

It was then that Pauls wrote his first winners in the native Republic of the song - "We met in March", "Winter Evening", at the same time his work began in cinema ("you need"). Subsequently, the composer created music for a number of performances, film and televisionilms ("Devil's servants", "Arrows Robin Guda", "death under sail", "Theater", "double drone", "how to become a star").

In 1973-78, he was the artistic director of the instrumental ensemble "Modo", and in 1982 he became the chief editor of the musical gears of Latvian radio.

Fame to composer brought the song "Yellow" song in 1975, for the next five years created several more hives - "pick up the music", "dance on the drum". In 1979, they created the musicals "Sister Carri" and "Sherlock Holmes".

A great success was accompanied by the creative Union of Raymond Pauls and Alla Pugacheva: the whole country was known songs "Maestro", "ancient clock", "Million Scarlet Roses", "without me."

In the late 1980s, Raymond Pauls initiated a song festival of young performers in Jurmala. In 1988, the composer became Chairman of the Latvian Committee on Culture, and after Latvia came out of the USSR, he took the post of Minister of Culture of the Republic.
After resigning in 1993, Pauls was the adviser to President Latvia in culture.
