"It's time to say about it in full growth - from this Monday I no longer director of the state gallery in Solyanka.

Actually, I never was going to be. I didn't seem at all, even in those, even relatively prosperous times, that the artist should work for the state. At that moment, I was just busy with a fascinating case: a suitcase was put down to move to my beloved country on the letter BR. But when my father, Boris Pavlov, was inadvertently died, - but it happened in the fall of 2009, then Romuald Krylov, then the head of the cultural department of the Central District of Moscow, who began a lot of interesting things in the Moscow Center, - for example, who became the godfather of the Olya Sviblova Museum, And said: Well, Fed, if not you, then I don't treat anything. It was important for me that my father's case continued. And I realized that yes. So our new Solyanka appeared.

It was always interesting. Yet from the very beginning, I said that I would do Artist-Run Space - the space under the control of the artist - a story in which I would not have to lie to myself or make projects, completely alien to my nature. Another question is that finding money on the fact that my nature was close, turned out to be a task practically unrealized. And so, complicating his fate to the limit, but at the same time securing himself from the endless photo exhibitions of children of deputies, painting of mistresses of oligarchs and expositions of the parish drawing "Our area through the eyes of the flock", I was horrified to think about how to be. Nevertheless, everything happened somehow correctly. Already then there were "electromases" of Schulgin and a couple of other good museum projects invented by artists, but as far as I understand, Solyanka began to work first in this direction.

For the year in 2011, Solyanka became the one as it remains until today - with Marina Abramovich in the role of patroness, with Norstens in the form of a local saint and Sigalite Landau in the image of Demeters who came to us to celebrate the harvest of saline fruits of the Dead Sea. Pyrimfyr originated - both as a school, and as an endless festival of performances, and the retrospectives of Tarkovsky, parajanov and Bill Plympton and a more kind of good 50 exhibitions, about which there were not a lot of good, became the foundation of Sollyanka, the institution is already quite And the meaning - and we were very proud of it. A series of exhibitions of the Russian Performance "Seven Bolds" became a separate subject of pride: when we did the first in 2011, the Russian performance of the scene was empty, the kulik was no longer in Performance, and the new one did not appear, so we are with Liza Morozova and Lena Kovylina And they should have more or less exist alone. I had to persuade friends from neighboring media to come and become at the time performances. So it took place, for example, a great debut in Live Arth at Gali Solodovnikova, and when they collected the last, "artist in the pen", about exposure in Performance, it was already out of whom to choose, the Russian scene has affected.

Pyrimfyr is a project and heroic at all. To collect at least some money from people who wanted to become performances is a shuttless task. Nevertheless understand that it is impossible to earn it. But we tried as much as they could, and released, probably five or six students streams. Of these, the seven people are performed by the Performance constantly, and many are returning to this heat from time to time.

To see people who were before dentists, programmers or fashion designers and suddenly opened a completely unexpected door inside themselves and not looking back there - the same buzz. I follow, of course. And I try to call them when I supervise group projects related to the Performance, and recommend other people. But in general, such a school should live on grants, and not to try to recoup. And grants should be engaged in a team of professionals. But the problem is that my work by the soldered director was completely running around the world surroundings with an outstretched hand. Stretching the second hand to ask also to school, it was completely impossible. Therefore, the school is still over. But I believe that her hour will come. Experience has accumulated excellent, we are well known to us with Liza Morozova and other associates, someone stands as a teacher, so we will come back to this. There is a sake of what - after all, the wonderful flowers bloomed.

Solyanka became the first Russian institution, which decided to work every day to 10 pm, and on Fridays - until midnight. And this she remains the only one. Then a similar schedule made a garage, even later the Jewish museum, well, the rest slowly and rustly began to turn to the visitor. In some London or Paris, everything is still terrible in this sense. Everything closes at six. I am only surprised that they will not make theaters at three in the afternoon on weekdays? This is about the same undertaking. Full idiocy, honestly. Night director and night curator - also our story, which many people are now practiced in one form or another. But it is unlikely that someone else from the directors will begin to regularly change clothes to Lyudmila Nikolaevna's loophole and meet visitors to the reception (alas, the real Lyudmila Nikolaevna has not become). But I do not insist. Some things should remain only at Solyanka.

In fact, I have already thought to leave for a couple of years. But here immediately a lot of reasons shot. In 2019, I have two large projects in New York, a museum exhibition in London and several group stories around the world, not to mention two new performances, one in Moscow and one in London. I just physically did not even jeopardize the Solyanka. And I am not quite honest, accepting the rules of the game of the state - I don't know what my next work will be in Performance and will not have to explain to my state bosses to their heads, why are they such a strange person in position in the office under the control office. And taxpayers - do they need it? No, I don't even think about it. Fortunately, there are private money and spaces whose owners do not need to convince - they themselves want to work. It is a pity that it will not be in Russia.

This old video cassette needs to be twisted a few years ago. Then Vladimir Philippov appeared in the Department of Culture of Moscow, a man who brought the right meaning and calm confidence - it is precisely his thanks to thanks in the last years of Soliaski and much more in Moscow culture - he wonderedly managed to hear and be heard. In November, he went to another job. But even earlier, in September of this year, with Rita Obien, the main curator of Solunka - and in general the curator with whom we have come up with and talked about the performance of the Performance (not only in Moscow, but also, for example, in São Paulo) in Recent years, - So, we did not work out to open one important exhibition, just invented Katya Nesashevaya. There were reasons for reason, I still don't want to talk about them, but it became clear: my time in Sankan swept, burst, it's time. Then I started thinking how best to do it. And he began to persuade the only man in the world capable of leading the Sankan further, take the case. Katya Bocar, my, probably, the main accomplice and the person for which I chew on the clock in my work has been more than ten years old, agreed to move to Solyanka from the north of Moscow (as at the time I agreed to move to Moscow from New York), continuing What we did, and what she did herself in the last four years on County.

Thank you. The interest of the audience depends on how everything is packaged. Marina Abramovich at the dawn of my work in Performance somehow told me: "Baby, Art IS Only 50% Art and 50% IS PR" ("Dear, in art only 50% of art, the remaining 50% is PR), - And now say it with an excellent Serbian accent.

What is the project of this year for you different from previous?
He was distinguished first of all that almost all of these works I once met and loved with all my heart, and in different places: some in Berlin, some at home in Rio or São Paulo (In recent years, Fyodor lives between Russia and Brazil. - Approx. Buro 24/7) Some in London and New York. And my biggest pride is that several artists have created absolutely new works of art specifically for Lexus Hybrid Art. That is, we arrived in advance to Moscow, the entire theater "Russia" was clisted, and everything decided. In general, in the exhibition of this year there was a very large proportion of my personal responsibility for content. There are such fairly vulgar notepads - Art That I "Ve Seen and Loved - and you put pictures of the works you like, the exposition was my personal similar notepad. And considering that my taste, how to say, does not always coincide with the tastes of other people. I really tried that it was only such works that are understandable to everyone, whether the grandmother, held through Pushkin Square, a cat, living in this building, or a three-year-old child, - and almost all the objects presented could be observed without having any fighting preparations in the field of Socrisian. After all, when you go to the room, behind the door of which the piano music played, and you see the faces of the two pianists looking at you and their hands hanging in the air - and they look at you, and look, and look, - And then you spit on this thing, go, you close the door behind you, and in the same moment the music begins to play again (the work of the German artist Annese Kars "Two play on one thing"), then at this moment you just and understand It's all that you want to know and what you want to participate, going outside reach - where we are not.

Artist, Performanceist, Art Manager, Director, Producer, Writer, Gallery Director - And this is not all. How are you manageable with all these social roles at once?
In fact, all my roles are one role. It's just very difficult to explain to people and make them believe you that you were born that you are laid on the genus and the tribe to do ten cases. Who only did not try to remake me. My favorite music teacher, Natalia Petrovna Petrov, when I was 5 years old, all the time pronounced these lines from Barto: "The drama, a circle in the photo, and I also sing hunting." And as if hinted: you don't want so much? Because I ran immediately for figure skating immediately from the music school, and from there to the rehearsal of my play, at the age of 6 I had already rehearsed, I started early. Well, there are still people trying to tell me: stop, focusing, do it only, that's what you get better. And I just live as I can. That is, I do exactly what I should nor less. Today, to my great joy, the times have come, when no longer needed to hide it, no one name. You say "artist", and it's all together, all at once. No need to talk about any art manager or a writer or performance, everything is included in the concept of "artist".

But everything and immediately, it is still difficult.
I live stories. Now, while we are talking, I'm in the village of Arugam Bay, on Sri Lanka, I make a series of my performances about slaves in Brazil - and about those that lived in the XIX century, and about the current ones. We are here with Cinema and Clemence Cinema and Photographer Igor African, we remove the story about a black guy - a shop, which last year crucified for the stealing on the lamppost, as in the times of slavery. Tomorrow we will tie me to the lantern, I have to provide 7 hours, because this series for the Afro-Brazilian Museum in Sao Paulo (called "temporary monuments"): Each monument has been 7 hours, and then there is a photo or video, or that And the other immediately. There is already ready job: I learned under the leadership of a local fisherman, and after a week, training was climbed and checked for 7 hours - from 8 pm to 3 am - and documented it. Just slaves, wanting to get rid at night, when no one saw, climbed on palm trees and mined seeds, which in those days terribly appreciated. These seeds they sold in the black market, and the revenue money was copied, well, and in the end they changed their own freedom. And work called "Temporary Monument N1", just about freedom.

Performance as an art type often requires significant physical effort. How to prepare and free the body?
I fight for my body at once in several ways. On the one hand, I dig in myself with the help of teachers: Cyril Black of "Yoga-Class", Tanya Domovtseva and Ani Luneganova in Moscow, Sri Darm Mitters and Lady Ruth in New York, Agustina Aguerrererery in Rio and other mentors important for me, "I am making my way to the deposits of useful and useless fossils, I first try to clear, the second is to throw away. This is yoga. I also do strength practitioners. In Moscow, I go to Dima Dovgany in the Repacklik, it is an amazing - a classic pianist who has become a coach for strength and Pilates. We are talking about music and invent different amazing ways to solve the issue of power by the mind. In general, I must every day spend some time for yoga and three or four weeks a week, regardless of flights, I give an hour or other strength. Well, then Cyril Black teaches me very interesting things. For example, how to get inside your eyes, how to penetrate physically into your breath, how to bend your leg without bending it.

And how did you come to expulsion as a means of your artistic language?
This is not the only tool. This is one of the parts of the language. It is just much more rushing into the eyes of people, not too experienced in observing the performance. No one surprises that in painting there are different types of oil paints. But the Naked Body of Performance is immediately turning this artist to the target. It is generally good, because it makes our very narrow and infant genre more popular. But, on the other hand, if you google my name in Russian, then the second line - "Fyodor Pavlov-Andreevich naked." And there was even a couple of days when, someone said to me, in Yandex for the word "artist" of the first line, an article was emphasized on this topic in Wikipedia, and the second - "Artist Fyodor Pavlov-Andreevich came to the MidSummer Night Festival" s Dream nude. "It is necessary to understand one such a simple piece: the nudity of the Performance is not the nudity of sex, not the nudity of erotica, not the nudity of desire or seduction. Or at least in most cases and in most strong work it is not that nudity. She Akin to the nude of the morgue, the height of baptism, height, at the end of the ends, the gas chamber. She is about zeroing. Therefore, people looking at art with interest will take some time that would get used to the fact that Peter Pavlensky, feeding himself with a nail to the Red Square, did not mean to show all people, how his eggs look like, - he said the terribly important thing that everyone who needs (and that is no less important, all Who does not need too), understood perfectly. And if he decided to do it in shorts, then the briefs would immediately become part of the message. And they would confuse all the cards. So nudity is a washed meaning, zero mark, clean canvas. It all starts with it, but it does not provide and does not guarantee the result from art. She can know everything and nothing.

You create performances since 2008, can you tell a little about your internal observations - for yourself, with your body, consciousness?
In 2008, when I made my first performance, I, I need to tell you, returned to my home. At that moment I had not yet had furniture, it was even unknown, at which end of the city is my house. But I already knew for sure that he was mine and that I had to live the rest of my life. What I did before, I remember everything and I understand everything, but it passed, turned over. Just find the door to the performance and in general in some other form of statement - non-linear, often not with a half-chart produced by the viewer - I took three decades. But now it is very cool and very interesting to live. Sometimes I think: even if I won't be tomorrow, I already lived an incredibly wonderful life. It was almost all in her, and I'm not at all sorry and it would not be afraid to go on.

And what about the plans for the future? What projects should be waiting in Moscow?
In the State Gallery in Solyanka, we are now preparing three exhibitions at once (all of them are special projects of the Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art), which will just have to explain to people a lot about performances, the nudity and about how the art of performances resists the rules of life and how sometimes they wake them . One project is called "Intimate pictures" is an exposition about nudity in the British modern performance. We bring a very important artist and photographer Manuel Vazona. It will work with the seven Russian performance, each of which will make its performance within 7 days in the gallery halls. The name of this exhibition ARTIST IS HIDDEN - in Russian "Artist in Pagon": Each artists will build on the wall for which the performance will occur. And each of them will decide what size to leave the hole for the viewer: the gap, a small hole or a whole window. The exhibition will be devoted to an outstanding American performance, and now Architect Vito Acconchi, even at the end of the 1960s made a number of works that turned the course of the history of art. In the hall "Pepper" we will show a small archival exhibition of the Skolcchi itself, who has been 75 years old this year. He, by the way, promised to come and meet with the Moscow public. We have now declared a crowdfunding campaign to these projects, as the state is now meaningless to such money, and the sponsors are similar things too, alas, uninteresting. Therefore, hope for the viewers of Solianki. Two years ago, they did so that the exhibition "Artists Zoo" happened and became an important stage for all of us.

Do you follow the information agenda?
If you are about the news, I do not always understand, for the news of which country, Brazil or Russia, I need to follow first, so I sometimes decide not to read them at all. Moreover, in both countries now the crisis is now, and from one of them they come at all sad news. No news calmly. But sometimes they throw a reason for the work: here, for example, on the outskirts of Rio, some kind of dudes, voluntary forest sanitary panels, crucified on the lamppost of a 14-year-old black teenager, which produced by the stores. Tied (with the neck fixed by the bike lock), beaten and left overnight. Differently done with slaves in Brazil 150 years ago. In general, little has changed. This episode will be a reason for the fifth "temporary monument". In this series, I make performances for 7 hours long and document them in memory of slavery - and about what is already in history, and about what happens before our eyes. In Russia, with him, too, everything is in order. In Moscow, about a million people, mainly immigrants from Central Asia. If only some international organization came to mind the idea to look at how they live, what they eat and how their temporary owners mock them! Everyone in the West is concerned about the fate of Russian gays, and truly suffer only to gay teenagers who hate and over which everything is messed up, including their own parents, and the state helps this very much. As for the suffering of Russian gays in general, in Moscow and St. Petersburg, they, in my opinion, live normally: Yes, they are not allowed to carry out gay parades and give them in the face, if they go outside to protest, but many of them live comfortable and free. But the migrant workers do not care at all, because they do not speak English and do not know how to tell about themselves in picturesque details. Alas, a genre in which I work as an artist is still quite distant from the actual public and political situation. I am a big fan of Peter Pavlensky, who has a brilliantly work with this material.

As you, a person who is a lot and often abroad, treat Moscow secular life or, simply speaking, Tusovka?
I have (or was - I don't know if he continues his good deed) the idol - the leading Internet television "Oh no, not only!" On the website w-o-s.ru Oleg Crown. Here is his way to watch or even look at the secular life in Russia seems to me outstanding. In general, he does not know anyone by name, nor in the face, a man grew on some very other things, never opened the magazine Hello!, And now it is suitable with a microphone to people who, in his opinion, look like famous characters, And asks them, no confusing, very strange questions. And the next day I come to Moscow, I go to some party in the "Arrow", I stand with friends and tell this cheerful story. And you imagine, at that moment, a girl of years of 17 in a broad-breasted hat and a leather rainfall passes by us. And in my words about Fed Curekhin She suddenly freezes, stops her friend and yells on the whole bar: "Andrei, look, it's hairstyle!"
In Brazil, it all looks as beautiful: people love to be called the word "designer", and at the same time they make it possible. There is even a story about one young lady-fashion designer, which has already appeared on Rio Fashion Wiki and São Paulo Fashion Wiki (Brazilians charmingly redirect English words) and decided to try in London. She comes there, all of themselves swinging, and her on passport control is asked: "And why did you come here at all?" She, raising his chin, in his Brazilian English responds to the officer of the British border troops: "And you did not know that I have a celebrity in my country? Go better than me google. " In general, everything is very similar.

"Art as a business", how do you feel about this wording?
Freshly. I, of course, for the fact that the works are sold. There are three galleries that I do: one in São Paulo, one in Rio and one in Paris. They relate to me with respect and do not require me to turn the performances into something that is easy to sell. But if it happens, if a beautiful object is born, a photo or sculpture is born, then I am very happy about it and give it to the gallery, because many of my performances and installations require budget, and where does it come from? But when you start to think about it specifically, nothing happens. I am confident: if you do everything right, then with the time your work in art will begin to bring you money. After all, just 7 years ago made my first performance, so I am a relatively young author. But money is not the most important thing at all. The main thing is to try not to hypocrite and say what they dictate that through you goes. This is the most difficult task.

How often do you happen here in the "Repack" gym?
When I respect myself, then five times a week. But here there are circumstances I am almost a flight attendant, I fly all the time. And on the day of the flight it is impossible for sports, only on yoga. Because the flight is weakening the immunity when you fly, you still get sick. And when you get sick - you can not load, otherwise you will get sick seriously. Fly hellish is harmful - as I sometimes make four transatlantic flights per month, then I know everything about it. This is how Mary Candida de Melo was taught, my Brazilian sick-doctor. The first - never there is a flavored rubbish.
