Opera P.I. Tchaikovsky "Eugene Onegin" is one of the most popular operas of the world.

Evgeny Onegin is considered the top of the composer's opera creativity. Opera was created on the eponymous novel in verses A.S. Pushkin.

The idea of \u200b\u200bthe lyrical opera arose from Tchaikovsky for a long time, but he could not find a suitable plot. Once singer E.A. Lavrovskaya filed a thought about the plot of "Eugene Onegin", but the composer considered the idea of \u200b\u200bcreating a opera to Pushkin's plot, because He considered "Onegin" the "Holy Book", to which he would not dare to touch even in a dream. In a letter to Brother M. I. Tchaikovsky, he wrote: "This thought seemed to me wild, and I did not answer anything."

I. Kramskaya "Portrait of E. A. Lavrovskaya on stage"

But at the same time, the composer could not remember the Council E.A. Lavrovskaya, which he very much respected for her "wonderful, velvet, juicy" voice, artistic ease of performance, deep penetration into the style of musical work. He wrote about Lavrovskaya: "And that is only more expensive in Lavrovskaya, so this is what it does not resort to any external effects, no to what theatrical ... to charm the listener. Nowhere does the desire to please the famous, commonly accepted routine-spectacular techniques in the Italian scene ... Lavrovskaya never goes beyond strict chaste art ... ".

And gradually P.I. Tchaikovsky captures the idea of \u200b\u200bwriting the opera on the plot of Roman A.S. Pushkin.

Work on the opera

Work on the opera began in 1877, and less than a year was completed.

Tchaikovsky leaned before Pushkin: his knowledge of life, knowledge of the nature of the Russian man, a subtle understanding of Russian nature, the musicality of the verse - all this caused admiration for the composer. Libretto composer wrote in collaboration with K. S. Shilovsky. Of course, the libretto in the details is always different from the genuine work. In this case, from Pushkin Roman in verses ("Encyclopedia of Russian Life", according to V. Belinsky), Tchaikovsky took only what was connected with the spiritual world and the personal destinies of Pushkin heroes. The composer himself modestly called his opera "lyrical scenes", the opera refers to the lyrical and psychological genre.

That is why Chaikovsky worried about the fate of his opera: it did not have traditional stage effects, and the execution required maximum simplicity and sincerity. This musical work was a new step in opera art. Therefore, he decided to instruct its first execution of young musicians - students of the Moscow Conservatory.

Premiere

The premiere of the opera took place 17 (29) of March 1879 on the scene of the Small Theater by the forces of students of the Moscow Conservatory. And the well-known Russian pianist-virtuoso and conductor, founder of the Moscow Conservatory and its first director Nikolai Grigorievich Rubinstein, conducted Opera.

N.G. Rubinstein

The first performers of the main parties were:

M. Medvedev (Lensky, as part of a student performance)

P. Khokhlov (Onegin, on the scene of the Bolshoi Theater)

M. Clementova-Muromtseva (Tatiana, the first performer in the composition of the student)

Contrary to the concerns of the composer, the audience was immediately fascinated by this opera interpretation of the Pushkin novel in verses and its expressive music. Almost immediately to the opera came triumphal success. The opera turned out to be a new word in the opera genre, and this word was heard. From the Opera "Eugene Onegin" Tchaikovsky began a line of lyric opera, and the composer himself continued this line with his next and last Opera "Iolanta".

Soon, the opera was raised on the scenes of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow (1881) and the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg (1884), and then became one of the most popular works.

Opera music

Despite the fact that PI Tchaikovsky considered himself unworthy "to touch" Eugene Onegin "even in a dream," he as a result, it turned out to create a masterpiece - until now, an unsurpassed sample of a lyrical opera, in which Pushkin's poetry is harmoniously merged with sincere music, full heart heat and drama.

Tatyana. Illustration of L. Tymoshenko

Tchaikovsky managed to create music tools of Tatiana, emphasizing Russian national features in it: the soulful, the poetry of character, the ability to hear and understand other people, appreciate and respect other people's feelings, understand their life destiny. The image of Tatiana is the brightest and impressive opera. The composer even reproached that he wrongfully put forward this image to the fore. But in this case, Tchaikovsky remained faithful to Pushkin: the special poetry and ethical elevation of Tatiana celebrate all critics and researchers, starting with Belinsky. The same qualities are inherent and opera Tatiana. Tchaikovsky psychologically accurately managed to transfer the transformation of a dreamy girl into a woman with a strong character and solid moral stuff. Loyalty to debt for her is the highest and continued moral law.

The duet of Tatiana and Olga "I heard you" close to Russian household romance, and when the Girls and Nanny dialogue joins the vocals, the duet turns into a quartet.

In the scene with the peasants, there is an extended song "My scores hurt" is replaced by a valid comic "just like a bridge-bridge."

Olga Aria "I am not capable of Tomny's sadness" helps to understand her careless and lively character. Arioso Lensky "I love you, Olga" - self-characteristics of a fermented and romantic young man.

In the scene of writing with psychological sensitivity, the composer captured a variety of mental heroine states: a gust, timidity, determination and, finally, the approval of love.

In the center of the third picture - Aria Onegin "When life is a homemade circle." It also characterizes the hero: the melody is cold and a little monotonous.

At the beginning of the fifth painting, Elegy Aria Lensky sounds "Where, where you retreave, the spring of my devoted days." Her music is full of sadness, painful premonitions, but surprisingly melodious and sincere.

In the final Arioso of Onegin repeats the melody from the scene of the letter of Tatiana - she expresses the broken love of Onegin.

The duet of Tatiana and Onegin is full of contrasts, gust.

EUGENE ONEGIN -

opera (lyrical scenes) in three actions of Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky on the libretto of the composer K. Shilovsky, based on the novel of the same name in verses A.S. Pushkin.

Time actions: 20s XIX century.
Situation: Village and St. Petersburg.
The first execution: Moscow, 17 (29) of March 1879.

In March 1877, the singer Elizaveta Lavrovskaya advised P.I. Tchaikovsky to take the "Eugene Onegin" A.S. Pushkin as a plot for the opera. At first, this thought seemed to Tchaikovsky absurd. He declares that "Onegin" is the "Holy Book", to which he and in a dream would not dare to touch. But soon this idea captures it.

"In Evgenia Onegin" heroine, Tatiana, writes Evgeny a letter in which he is recognized in love. Eugene tells her that he could not answer with mutual love, could not marry. As a result - tragedy.

In the same spring, 1877, Tchaikovsky receives passionate love messages from some Antonina Milyukova, twenty-five-year-old female conservatory, which, Tchaikovsky could hardly remember, whether ever met. To his real correspondent, Tchaikovsky does not feed completely no love, and he comes in the same way as Onegin arrived: he writes a polite cold answer that he cannot answer with mutual love. But one more letter comes from her, a full passionate feeling, and Tchaikovsky goes to Antonine Milyukova to take a look at her. He marries her (July 6, 1877). As a result - tragedy (three weeks later, he flee from marriage).

Tatiana's letter scene was written first. Tatyana Larina and Antonina Milyukova are connected in a painful excited composer consciousness, giving birth to the wondrous sound of the orchestra and the confession melody of Tatiana: "... then in the highest destinion of the council, then the sky of the sky: I am yours!"

Despite the fact that the libretto of the opera significantly simplified the content side of Roman A.S. Pushkin, his language and style as a whole cause less protest than in such cases of appeal to other Pushkin creatures. In most cases, the libretrists "straightened" Pushkin text, that is, from the narrative transferred it to the direct speech of the characters. We give only one example of such an operation:

A.S. Pushkin:
Head of Eighth, XII
Onegin (I'll do it again),
Killing a friend's duel
Having live without a goal, without work
Up to twenty six years
Timing in the inaction of leisure
I did not know how to do.

Tchaikovsky:
Onegin (about himself)
Killing a friend's duel
Having live without a goal, without work
Up to twenty six years
Tombing inaction of leisure
Without service, without a wife, without affairs,
I did not have time to take yourself.

Less than a year - January 20, 1878 - Evgeny Onegin was completed (in Italy, in San Remo). Tchaikovsky's opera key sends not the one that he embodied in the image of Tatiana, not Antonina Milyukova, who dreamed of always to be with him, and the hope of Mecca, admired Tchaikovsky and the patronage of him, but hardly explainedly avoided - and avoiding a personal meeting with him.

Action I.

Brief orchestral accession introduces a listener into the world of poetic dreams and mental gusts of Tatiana. It is entirely based on a repeating motive - "Tatiana sequence", as B. Asafyev called it.

Picture 1. Larina Manor - House and garden adjacent to him. Evening. Larina and nanny boil jam. From the house heard the singing of Tatiana and Olga. Their duet sounds ("Did you sleep for the grove of the night / singer of love, singer singer?"). The voices of Larina (Mother) and Nannies are woven in the duet. The Larina-Mother singing daughters causes a memory of her own youth. She indulges these memories with nanny (Filippery), and at first the duet now becomes a female quartet ("they sing, and I pegged"). The result of the arguments of two old women - simple philosophy: "The habit of more than we are given - the replacement of happiness is" (this center has passed exactly from the novel to Opera; A. Pushkin himself in notes to Roman reveals the source of his borrowing - Shatubrands: "If I had a reckance Still to believe in happiness, I would have been looking for him in habit. "

The peasants are approaching the song. They return from the field and bring Baryna - according to the old custom - sheaf as a sign of harvest. Sensored delays a song ("My shutters sorts sorts / from the rush ..."); She picks her chorus. Young people start a dance with a sheaf, the rest sing. From the house on the balcony, Tatiana is published with a book in her hands and Olga. The choir of peasants sounds ("just like on the bridge").

Tatiana admits that he loves "under the sounds of songs these / dreams sometimes somewhere somewhere, / somewhere far ..." Olga, careless and cheerful, these feelings are unfamiliar. She sings about it in a wonderful aria "I am not capable of sad sadness" (the music of this aria, I must say, on the contrary, refutes this statement Olga; perhaps the composer meant to make her ironize her sighing dreamers, which could be quite interesting And it is impressive, but Olga almost does not act in the Opera and, therefore, it doesn't appear anywhere in a cheerful and playful form, so we can believe to believe it for word without receiving confirmation in music.)

The noise of the wheels and the ringing of the puffs of the approaching crew is heard. Folithically enters the nanny with the Cossack; She reports that "Lensky Barin, Mr. Onegin with him!" Vladimir Lensky, the neighbor of Larina, youth enthusiastically and romantically in love with Olga. His friend Yevgeny came (he was a neighbor Lensky) to swim from St. Petersburg and misses the village wilderness. And here they are applied by Larina. The attention of Onegin immediately attracts "one that is sad and silent like Svetlana, that is, Tatyana (Tchaikovsky leaves this Pushkin allusion on V.A. Zhukovsky, who has Svetlana - the heroine of the same name ballad:" ... silent and sad / cute Svetlana "). The impressions of their arrival are expressed in the quartet of the main characters (the second pair is made up, naturally, Olga and Tatiana). But if Onegin and Lensky lead a dialogue, then the girls indulge in their thoughts each separately. Finally, Lensky is suitable for Olga. Onegin is looking at Tatiana for some time, then comes to her. It turns out that yesterday Lensky saw Olga, but the day in separation for him - "This is an eternity!". Lensky and Olga go deep into the garden. Onegin starts a conversation with Tatiana. Onegin asks Tatiana somewhat alienately, is it not boring in the village. She replies that no, she reads a lot, sometimes dreams. "And I was once! .." - pretty sluggish supported the conversation of Onegin. Continuing to talk, they are removed by garden alley. Olga and Lensky return again. He passionately explains her in love - his aria sounds (one of the best in the opera) "I love you, I love you, Olga." The first picture ends on the top of the romantic illusions of love and friendship. Larina and nanny leaves the house. Darmest. The owners invite guests to the house. From the pond to the house, Tatyana and Onegin are slowly coming, for them, nanny. Onegin has time to tell a little about his uncle ("My uncle is the most honest rules"). The result of everything - to his own way - the nanny: "Does it (Tatiana. - AM) Barin this new one? .."

Picture 2. Tatiana room. Late evening. Tatiana in excitement; She is in love with Onegin and does not find a place. The motive of Tatiana gives to understand the listener that it will be the main acting person in this picture. Against the background of this motive, Tatiana's conversation occurs. The old woman complains about bad memory. At the request of Tatiana to say whether she was in love, nanny tells that she was thirteen years old when she was wondering (and the bridegroom was less). In the end, Tatiana can no longer restrain his feelings. She exclaims: "Ah, nanny, nanny, I suffer, I am a fat." Filipperyevna is excited, whether Tatyana is healthy. But no, not in illness, and Tatiana sends the nanny to stay alone. Cantilena "Let me be killed" precedes the letter scene: "I write to you." Hand slides on paper. But the written not like Tatiana. She starts again. The orchestral accompaniment exceeds anxious indecision. But here the letter is written. It turns out, the whole night passed. Sun rises. Tatiana opens a window. Before her hearing comes the naigry shepherd horn. Enters the nanny. Tatiana asks Nyanya to send the grandson to take a letter to Onegin, but so that no one knew about it. Nanny leaves with a letter. Tatyana sits down to the table and, leaning, pumped again in thought.

Picture 3. A secluded garden corner with lariat estate. Yard girls collect berries. Their choir sounds ("Maiden, Beauty"). Eaves excited Tatiana and in exhaustion falls on the bench. Onegin arrived and now he will be here. With trepidation, she is waiting for an answer to his letter. Onegin appears and comes to Tatiana. Onegin Hatting, he touches the sincerity of Tatiana. But it cannot answer her love, as it would be equivalent to marriage, and the marriage is a habit, and the habit is the end of love. With offend and pain listens to Tatiana moraling of Onegin.

Action II.

Picture 1. Ball in Larina's house (Tchaikovsky has no biggest hint at the time of year, when this event is happening; Pushkin dates it for sure: "Tatyana Nameny / on Saturday," that is, winter, more precisely, January 25 (in other words, between first And six months passed). Thus, it is the ball in honor of Tatiana Larina. Youth is dancing. Elderly guests are sitting by groups and talk, watching dancing. All praise the feast that has been fameful. Among the dancing Tatyana and Onegin, who attract the attention of the ladies. Ladies Shimmer about Onegin. Passing by them, he hears their little judgments about himself. It is angry; He scolds himself that he came to "this stupid ball". And he decides to take revenge on Lensky: "I will care for Olga!" And indeed, on All the dances he invites only her. Now Lensky comes to indignation. He is trying to talk to Olga, but his jealousy is annoying. He again invites her to dance, but she prefers Onegin. Olga and Onegin away from Lensky. Towards them moves the revival a group of young ladies. With them three. He proclaims (in the form of a "what beautiful this day") Diffirb in honor of Tatiana. Purpose Trices like everyone. Dancing resumes. Onegin dances again with Olga; Lensky increasingly gloomy from jealousy. Ending to dance (it was a cattle - a ball dance that connects Waltz, Mazurka and Polka), Onegin turns a conversation with Lensky. A quarrel flashes. In the gust of anger, the insulted Lensky throws the challenge onegin. The general confusion reigns. Everyone unsuccessfully trying to reconcile former friends, but unsuccessfully. Dueles do not avail.

Picture 2. Old abandoned mill - a place appointed for a duel. Early winter morning. Lensky and his second Zaretsky expect Onegin. Lensky with longing thinks about the possible outcome of the fight. His aria "Where, where, where did you retreave, / Spring of my devotion days?" - One of the most brilliant pages is not only "Onegin", but, perhaps, in all the Opera Heritage of Tchaikovsky. Appears - with late - Onegin together with his chamber engineer (he is its second) Guillo. There are formal explanations about the upcoming duel. While the seconds are preparing for a fight, our heroes make reflections about what happened: everyone to herself, they sing a duet: "Enemies! .. How long did the thirst for blood away from each other?" But all the oscillations are discarded: the laws of honor above all. Zaretsky raises opponents for the desired distance and gives them guns. The guillo is hiding behind the tree. "Now converge," commands the Zaretsky. It shines three times in your hands. Opponents make four steps forward and begin to aim. Onegin shoots first. Lensky falls. He is killed. Onegin is grown in horror.

Action III

Ball at one of the St. Petersburg dignitaries. Guests dance polonais. (This brilliant orchestral play often sounds as an independent room in symphony concerts.) Onegin is invited to this house on this house. He scattered looks at the dancing. He is incredibly boring. He is only twenty-six years old, but he feels already tired life. Guests discusses his return from wanderings and the appearance here in St. Petersburg. Among the old friend of Onegin Prince Gremin (they are ", although the prince is much older than Onegin). Prince enters arm with Tatiana. Onegin is amazed: "Tatiana Ulok?" It turns out that she is now the wife of Gremina. The prince sings his famous Aria "Love all ages are submissive", as if giving to understand Onegin, that and his time for love, despite his whole disappointment, has not yet passed. And Onegin really falls in love. He fell in love with ... Tatyana. He is amazed: "That's the same Tatiana, which I am alone, / in the deeper far side, / in the good of the heat of moral, / read once mental?" But Tatiana with her husband is removed, and the disappointed hero remembers the motive and even the words of the subject of his passion: "I will die," Onegin is now, - but before ... "(and so on; of course, in bariton tonality). "But what was appropriate in the mouth of a dreamy heroine," notes one of the contemporaries of the composer (V.S. Baskin, the author of the first experience characteristics of the composer's creativity), - not at all to the face of the Great Lady Dandy Onegin. " Onegin quickly leaves. Guests dance ecosis.

Picture 2. Now the turn of Onegin write a letter Tatiana. And he wrote. The scene takes place in one of the rooms of the prince Gremina. Tatiana, crying, reads the letter of Onegin. "Oh, like me hard," she sings. Onegin is included. Seeing Tatiana, he quickly approaches her and falls in front of her knees. Tatiana is trying to be cold. Onegin pray for love. Their duet is full of beautiful pages. But Tatyana remains true to her husband. "Farewell forever!" - Her last words. The last moan, escaped from the soul of Onegin: "Shame! .. longing! .. Oh, my meld!" - Unusually dramatically transferred to Tchaikovsky (it is a pity that there are too few of the title batch of such phrases).

HISTORY OF CREATION

In May 1877, the singer E. A. Lavrovskaya advised Tchaikovsky to write a opera to the plot of Pushkin "Eugene Onegin". Initially, this thought seemed to composer, according to him, wild, but soon he was so carried away by her that she wrote a script in one night and began to music. Tchaikovsky leaned before Pushkin. His knowledge of life, the nature of the Russian man, a subtle understanding of the Russian nature, the musicality of the verse was caused by the composer admiration. Libretto was written in cooperation with K. S. Shilovsky (1849-1893). From the Pushkin novel in verses - "Encyclopedia of Russian Life", as V. G. Belinsky called, - Tchaikovsky took only what was connected with the spiritual world and the personal destinies of Pushkin heroes, modestly calling his opera "lyrical scenes".

In a letter to his student, the well-known composer S. I. Taneyev, Tchaikovsky wrote: "I am looking for an intimate, but a strong drama based on the conflict of provisions, I have been tested or seen who can hurt me for living." Evgeny Onegin was for the composer the ideal of such a drama. Tchaikovsky worried about the fate of his opera, in which there were no traditional stage effects, and the execution required maximum simplicity and sincerity. Therefore, he decided to instruct its first execution of young people - students of the Moscow Conservatory. 17 (29) March 1879, the premiere of Evgenia Onegin was held. Soon, the opera was raised on the scenes of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow (1881), where in 1963 its 1500th performances took place, and Mariinsky in St. Petersburg (1884) and became one of the most popular works.

MUSIC

Evgeny Onegin is an unsurpassed sample of a lyrical opera in which Pushkin's poetry harmoniously merged with excellent, sincere music, full heart heat and drama. With the striking perfection, Tchaikovsky described the ethically wonderful appearance of Tatiana, emphasizing Russian national traits in it.

Brief orchestral accession introduces to the world of poetic dreams and mental gusts of Tatiana.

In the first act three pictures. The first one multifaceted the background of actions and introduces students with the images of the main characters. The duet of Tatiana and Olga "heard", close to Russian domestic romance, penetrated with a serene elegiac mood. The dialogue of the Girls is joined by the Girls and Filipperyss dialogue: the duet turns into a quartet. In the scene with the peasants, there is an extended song "My scores hurt" is replaced by a valid comic "just like a bridge-bridge." Aria "I am not capable of sad sadness" gives a portrait of careless and rising Olga. In the lyric-enthusiastic Arioso Lensky "I love you, Olga" there is an appearance of a fervor, romantic young man.

In the center of the second picture - the image of Tatiana. The story of the nanny, is resistant in a calm narrative manner, opposes its excited speeches. In the scene, letters with wonderful psychological sensitivity captured a variety of mental conditions of the heroine: a passionate gust, a timidity, desperate determination and, finally, the approval of love. The confusion of Tatiana is expressively shaped with the symphonic panorama of sunrise.

In the center of the third painting - Aria of Onegin "When life is a homemade circle", framed by a transparent and bright choir of girls; The restraint-measured speech of Onegin is only briefly animated with a warm feeling.

The second act opens with a fascinating waltz. Naive-sophisticated plot of Trick "What a beautiful this day" and other household episodes create a contrast to a quarrel scene; Intense dramatic dialogue of heroes sounds on the background of the Mazurka. Arioso Lensky "In your home" - the heartfelt memory of the past; To the tender, smooth melody is gradually joined by Onegin, Tatiana, Olga and Larina, and then an agitated choir of guests.

At the beginning of the fifth painting (the second picture of the second act), Elegy Aria Lensky sounds "Where, where you retreaved, the spring of my golden days"; Music is full of sadness, bright memories and painful premiems; It conquers melodic beauty and sincerity of expression. The duet of Lensky and Onegin "Enemies, Enemies" transmits the state of gloomy meditation. Tragically sounds in the orchestra melody of the suicide Aria Lensky, who finishes the picture.

The picture of the sixth (third act) begins solemn polona. Aria Gremina "Love All ages are submissive" penetrated by noble, courageous lyricism. In the final Arioso of Onegin, reflecting love flashed in it, there is a passionate melody from the scene of the letter of Tatiana.

In the center of the seventh paintings, Duet Tatyana and Onegin - agitated, full of emotional contrasts, ending with rapid growth and dramatic breakdown.

"Onegin" - the pearl of the Russian opera. Until the end of the life of the Tchaikovsky Opera remained one of his favorite creations. Composer wrote:

I wrote this opera because one day I wanted to put everything in the "Onegin" asking for music on the music. I did it as he could.

When Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky in 1877 decided to write the opera "Eugene Onegin", there was a lot of skeptics who doubted the fitness of the plot for the opera. Yes, and the Tchaikovsky's thought of the famous singer E. A. Lavrovskaya put on music the novel in verses Pushkin first seemed to be "wild." True, the next day he found this thought possible and so got carried away that the scenario of the future opera was signed up the same night. With the help of a gifted amateur K. S. Shilovsky, a libretto was drawn up, and Tchaikovsky immediately began writing. In the sketches, all opera was written in the summer of 1877, and the instrumentation was completed in January 1878.

The composer worked on the opera "with sincere hobbies, with love for the plot and to the acting persons,", but he still believed that "she did not have a brilliant stage destiny": "... it seems to me that she is convicted of failure and on Inattentive mass of the public. The content of very inefficious, scenic effects
4

No, music, deprived of brilliance and trressing effects. "

Tchaikovsky intended his "lyrical scenes" (he didn't even want to call "Onegin" Opera) for the execution of students in the Moscow Conservatory: "... with that reasonable formulation, excellent ensemble, which [N. G.] Rubinstein and Samarin are achieved in conservative performances, I will still be more satisfied with the conservatory than the fulfillment of my opera on a big stage, at least even in St. Petersburg ... And most importantly, in the conservatory, there will be no that vulgar routine , those who are thrown in the eyes of Anachronism and nonsense, without which there is no government statement. "

Evgeny Onegin was first fulfilled by the Pupils of the Moscow Conservatory on March 17/27, 1879. The main parties were: M. Clementova - Tatyana, A. Levitskaya - Olga, S. Gilev - Onegin, M. Medvedev - Lensky, V. Mahalov - Gremin. I conducted N. G. Rubinstein, the stage part was led by I. V. Samarin.

Success was moderate. There were people who immediately estimated the opera. "Nikolai Grigorievich [Rubinstein], who is very stupid on praise, told me that he was in love with this music. Taneyev after the first act I wanted to express my sympathy, but instead bursting it, "Tchaikovsky wrote. Others (including teacher Tchaikovsky Anton Rubinstein) could not immediately understand "Onegin", and most press reviews were
5

Straight ridiculous. It took the time that the new work won the listeners. This is a lot of the appearance of the "lyrical scenes" key in the publishing house P. I. Yurgpson.

Gradually, Eugene Onegin begins to acquire popularity. In 1881, it puts the Moscow Big Theater, in 1884 - St. Petersburg Mariinsky; The opera went around the provincial scenes. In "Onegin" performed almost all the outstanding singers of the past. The era was the fulfillment of the Party of Onegin P. Khokhlov and Lensky - L. Sobinov.

In 1888, the opera was first put abroad - in Prague, with the participation of the singer B. Lauterier-Ferster. "... Tatiana is so, what I could never dream about," Tchaikovsky responded about her, conducted by the premiere. Italian guests M. Battistini (Onegin), A. Mazini (Lensky), Z. Arnoldson (Tatiana), sang at Onegin.

In our country, the opera sounded in dozens of cities, in many languages \u200b\u200b(only in one large theater of the SSR Union the number of performances passed for 1500). Music lovers are familiar with the names of the best performers of this opera. We have the opportunity to listen to them not only in the theater, but also in recordings on records and on the radio. Here are some names: P. Nazov, S. Migai, P. Lisitsian, T. Kuzik, G. Ots, N. Vorvulev - Onegin; E. Kruglikova, N. Spileler, K. Bayseitova, S. Kizbayev, R. Mlodenk - Tatiana; I. Kozlovsky, S. Lemeshev, P. Belinka, I. Bolotin - Lensky. Last

The time of fame was conquered by G. Vishnevskaya and T. Milashkin - Tatyana, E. Kibkalo - Onegin. Put "Onegin" and amateur teams.

Recently, the opera was fascinated, and residents of even the most remote areas of the country were able to introduce it.

The success of "Eugene Onegin" is increasingly increasing. The Tchaikovsky's dream comes true, which wrote: "I would wish with all the power of the soul so that my music spreads to increase the number of people who loving it, which are consolation and subeauge."

Well, cute, thank you for songs!
Go to the fluelier!

Olga (Larina)

Mom, look for Tanya!

(Peering in Tatiana.)

Really my friend
Pale you are very!

I am always like this -
You do not worry, mom!
It is very interesting that I read.

Larina (laughing)

So why are you so?

Yes, how, mom: Tale of heart torment
Lovers of two worries me,
I'm so sorry for their poor!
Oh, how they suffer,
How they suffer!

Full, Tanya!
Happened i like you
19

Reading these books, worried.
All this is fiction! Passed the year
And I saw that there are no heroes in life.
Deadly me ...

In vain so deceased!
See: Your apron you have forgotten!
Well, as Lensky arrives, - what then?

(Larina hastily removes the apron. Olga laughs.
Noise of wheels of driving crew and ringing
Bubakers.)

Chu! Someone drives up ... it's he!

And in fact!

Tatiana (depending on the terrace)

He is not alone ....

Who would it be?

Nanny (hurriedly entering the Cossack)

Madam, a Lensky Barin arrived,
With him Mr. Onegin!

Oh! Rather rubbed! ..

(Wants to run.)
20

Larina (holding it)

Where are you, Tanya?
You will coordinate! .. Batyushki, and cape
My side! ..

Olga (Larina)

Major ask!

Larina (Cossack)

Ask soon, ask!

(Cossack runs away. Everything in the greatest excitement is prepared
Meet guests. Nanny hives Tatiana
And then goes, making her a sign, so that she was not afraid.
Pass Lensky and Onegin. Lensky comes to hand
Larina and respectfully bowed to girls.)

Mesdames! I took courage
Lit for a friend. I recommend to you:
Onegin, my neighbor!

Onegin (bowing)

I'm very happy!

Larina (confused)

Mix, we are glad to you; Put!
Here is my daughter.

I am very, very happy!

War in the room! Ile maybe want
Filight stay?
21

I ask you to, -
Be without ceremonies, be: We are neighbors, -
So we have nothing to repair!

Charming here! I love this garden,
Ucho and shady!
It is so cozy!

Perfectly!

(Daughters.)

I'll go patting the house in the house,
And you take guests. I am now!

(Onegin approaches Lensky and speaks softly with him.
Tatyana and Olga stand in thought.)

Onegin (Lensky)

Tell me, who is Tatyana, -
I am very curious to know.

Together

Yes that sad
And silently like Svetlana.

Onegin

Are you in love with smaller?

Lensky

Onegin

I would choose another
When I were like you, the poet.

In terms of Olga, there is no
Extremely in Vandikova Madonna:
Round, red face she,
Like this stupid moon
On this stupid sky.
I would choose another!

Together

Oh, cute friend! Wave and stone,
Poems and prose, ice and flame
Not so different among themselves
How do we mutual differences!

Tatiana (about himself)

I waited, the eyes opened!
I know, know: it's he!
Alas, now and days, and nights,
And hot lonely sleep, -
All, everything will fill the image cute!
Without a silent magic force
Everything will tell me about him
And burn the soul to love with fire!

Olga (about himself)

Ah, I knew that the appearance
Onegin works
On all big impressions
And all the neighbors entertain:
Make a guess for guessing,
Everyone will be interpreted by furtively
Joke, judge not without sin
And Thane read the groom!

(Lensky comes to Olga. Onegin some time
looking at Tatiana conceived, then comes
To her.)

Lensky (Olga)

How happy how happy I am:
I see again with you!

Yesterday we saw each other, it seems to me.

Oh yeah! But all the day the day is
Long day passed in separation.
This is an eternity!

Eternity!
What word is terrible!
Eternity - one day!

Yes, the word is terrible,
But not for my love!

(Lensky and Olga go deep into the garden.)

Onegin (Tatiana)

Tell me, -
I think it happens
Prescade here, in the wilderness,
Although adorable, far away?
I don't think much entertainment
Danarily it was.
24

I read a lot.

Truth,
Gives us a reading abyss
For mind and hearts
But it is not always possible to sit with a book!

I dream sometimes, wandering in the garden ...

What are you dreaming about?

Thoughtful - my girlfriend
From the most lulled days.

I see - you are dreaming terribly,
And I was once so! ..

(Onegin and Tatiana, continuing to talk, remove
According to Garden Alley. Lensky and Olga return.)

I love you,
I love you, Olga,
As one insane soul of the poet
Still loved to be convicted:
Always everywhere one dream
One familiar welcome,
25

One habitual sadness!
I was the tag, the captive you,
Heart torment still without knowing
I was a defeated witness
Your infant fun!
In the shadow of the custody
I shared your fun, ah!
I love you, I love you,
As one soul of the poet only likes:
You are alone in my dreams.
You are one of my desire,
You are joy and suffer me.
I love you, I love you,
And never nothing: neither cooling distance
No time separation, nor fun noise -
Do not cut souls
Warmed virgin love with fire!

Under the root of rural silence
Grew with you together we ...

Together

I love you!

And, remember, referred the crowns
Early childhood to us with
You are our fathers.

Together

I love you love you!

(Larina and nanny leaves the house. Darks; by the end
Pictures are completely dark.)
26

And so you! Where is this Tanya?

Must be, the pond walks with the guest.
I will go to duck.

Yes, tell me:
It is time to in the rooms, guests of hungry
Pour than God sent.

(Nanny leaves.)

Larina (Lensky)

I ask you, please!

We are after you!

(Larina goes to the room. For her, a little effort, go
Olga with Lensky. From the pond to the house slowly go
Tatyana and Onegin, for them, pronounce - nanny.)

Onegin (Tatiana)

My uncle is the most honest rules.
When not a joke,
He forced himself
And it was better not to invent.
His example is another science.

(Already on the terrace.)

But, my God, what boredom
27

With sick sit and day and night,
Do not go away!

(Tatyana and Onegin enter the house.)

Nanny (about himself)

My dove, bowing head
And the eyes are lowering, goes Smirnyko ...
It hurts! .. And then:
Did it like her Barin this new one? ..

(Goes into the house, thoughtfully shaking his head.)

Picture of the second

Tatiana room. Late evening.

Well, I'm sick! It's time, Tanya!
Early you, I will wake up to dinner.
Fit soon!

Do not sleep, nanny: so stuffy!
Open the window and sit down to me!

What, Tanya, what's wrong with you?

I'm bored,
Let's talk about old.
28

What about Tanya? I happened
Stored in memory not enough
Old victims and non-pieces
About evil spirits and about maidens,
And now it all became dark:
What I knew, I forgot. Yes,
Came to lose weight!
Spit! ..

Tell me, nanny,
About your old years:
Was you in love then?

And, full, Tanya! In our summer
We did not hear about love,
And then the late mother
I would drive me from the light!

How are you married, nanny?

So, it can be seen, God ordered. My Vanya
Younger was me, my light,
And I was thirteen years old.
Two weeks walked Swaha
To my family, and finally
My father blessed me.
I cried bitterly with fear,
I have a slash with a slash
29

And the church was led to the church.
And now they introduced someone else's family ...
Yes, you do not listen to me?

Ah, nanny, nanny, I'm suffering, I am a fat,
I'm sick, my sweetheart;
I cry, I go ready!

My child, you are unhealthy;
Lord Pommey and save!
Let me sprink you with holy water
You are all right ...

I'm not sick,
I ... You know, nanny ... I ... in love!
Leave me, leave me:
I'm in love!

Yes, how ...

Look, leave me alone! ..
Give, nanny, I fell, paper
Yes, the table is moving; I will soon lie ...
Sorry...

The late night, Tanya!

(Goes out.)
30

Let me die, but before
I'm in dazzling hope
Bliss dark call
I recognize my life!
I drink the magic poison of desires,
My dreams are pursued:
Everywhere, everywhere in front of me
My tempter fathers
Everywhere, everywhere he prevales!

(Quickly writes, but immediately tears written.)

No, everything is not that! I'll start first! ..
Oh, what's with me! I'm all sorrow!
I do not know how to start ...

(Thinks, then again begins to write.)

I write to you - what is the bigger?
What can I say yet?
Now, I know in your will
I can punish me.
But you, to my unfortunate share
At least a drop of pity storing
You will not leave me!
At first I wanted to be silent.
Believe me: my shame
You did not know B Never
Never!..

(Continues to write.)
31

Why, why did you visit us?
In the wilderness of the forgotten seboard
I never knew you
I did not know B bitter torment.
Soul inexperienced wave
After speaking with time (how to know?),
In the heart I would find a friend
Would be a faithful spouse
And a virtuous mother ...
Other! .. No, no one in the world
I would not give my heart!
Then in Vyshny, the Council is destined,
That will of the sky: I'm yours!
My whole life was pledged
Svidanya faithful with you;
I know you are sent to me by God,
To the coffin you are my keeper!
You in the dreams I was,
Invisible, you were mile
Your wonderful view of me Tomil,
In the soul, your voice was distributed
For a long time ... No, it was not a dream!
You have entered a little, I found out
All overlap, laid
And in the thoughts of Plenas: here he!
Here it is!..
It's not true, I heard you,
You talked to me in silence,
When I. Poor helped
Or Prayer delighted
Longing the soul?
And at this moment
Not you, cute vision,
In transparent darkness flashed,
Merged quietly to the headboard
Not you, with Otrada and Love,
32

The words of hope chose me?
Who are you, my guardian angel
Or a cunning tempter, -
My doubts allow.
Perhaps this weight is empty
Cheating inexperienced soul
And destined completely different? ..
But so be! Fate mine.
From now on I hand you
Before you tears Lew,
Your defense implore
Begging!
Imagine: I'm alone here,
Nobody understands me,
My mind is exhausted
And I should die silently!
I'm waiting for you,
I'm waiting for you! Single eyes
Hope of the heart revived
ILE Sleep Heavy Relief,
Alas, deserved reproach!
Cum ... scary to count.
Shame and fear forcing ...
But I am a lie to our honor
And I brave myself insert myself!

(Sun rises. Tatyana opens the window.)

Ah, night Ma; la,
I woke up everything, and the sun gets up.

(Sounds of the horn)

The shepherd plays ... calm everything ...
And I, I mean?!

(Tatyana is thinking. Enters the nanny.)
33

Time, my child! Get up!
Yes, you, beauty, ready!
Oh, my ptashka is mine!
The evening I was afraid! ..
But, thank God, you, child, healthy:
Longing night and no trace,
Your face is like a poppy color!

Ah, Nanny, Make Lent ...

Estimated, native, - order.

Do not think ... right ... suspicion ...
But you see ... oh, do not refuse! ..

My friend, God's lie to you! ..

So, went quietly grandson
With this to this to ... To ...
To neighbor ... yes led him
So that he did not say a word,
So that ...
So that he did not call me!

Who is my dear?
I now became Bestwank.
34

There are a lot of neighbors, -
Where to count them and count!
To whom to whom? You really say!

How naughty you, nanny!

Heart friend, I'm Stara
Stara, stupid mind, Tanya;
And then, I happened, I am the East:
It happened ... I happened, I was the word of the Barski Will ...

Ah, nanny, nanny, before!
What do you need in your mind!
You see, nanny, case about writing!

Well, it's a matter, it's ...

What needs, nanny, I think in your mind!

Together

Do not be angry, my soul:
You know - I'm not clear!

Tatyana

To Onegin!

Well, it's a thing!
35

To Onegin!

I understood!

With a letter to Onegin
You went grandson, nanny!

Together

Well, well, do not be angry, my soul:
You know - I'm not clear!

(Nanny takes a letter.)

Why did you pale again?

So, nanny ... right, nothing ...
I went the grandson of your!

(Nanny leaves. Tatyana sits down to the table and, leaning,
It is immersed in thought.)

Picture Three

A secluded garden corner with lariat estate. Yard
Girls with songs collect berries.

Maiden, beauties,
Dowrs, girlfriends,
36

Bring, maidens,
Frash, cute!
Tighten the song
Cherished song
Lump well done
To our conception.
As a thief of well done,
As envyed from published,
Scroll, cute,
We throw cherry.
Cherry, Malino,
Red currant.
Do not go emitting
Cepete songs.
Do not visit
Games are our girls.

(Girls go to the depths of the garden. The excited Tatiana is running and in exhaustion falls on the bench.)

Here he ... here Eugene! ..
Oh God, oh God, that he thought! ..
What will he say? ..
Oh, for what,
Wallowen sickness sick,
Not coofer with me
I wrote a letter!
Yes, my heart now said
What makes me
My seducer fatal ...
Oh my God, as I am unhappy,
Like I'm pitiful! ..

(Hears the noise of steps. Tatyana listens.)
37

Steps ... getting closer ...
Yes, it he is he! ..

(Onegin appears and comes to Tatiana.)

You wrote to me,
Do not unlock. I've read
Souls are gullible recognized
Love innocent outpouring.
I have your sincerity of Mila;
She brought in an excitement
For a long time that had fallen.
But I do not want to praise;
I will send you for her
Recognize also without art.
Please accept my confession:
I give yourself to the court.

Tatiana (about himself)

Oh God, as a shame and how hurts!

When life is a homemade circle
I wanted to limit
When I should be a father, spouse
Pleasant lot commanded, -
That is true, except you alone
The bride was not looking for another.
But I was not created for Bliss,
He is alien to my soul;
Your perfection is in vain:
They are not fit at all.
Believe me (conscience in the letter),
The marriage will be flour.
I, how much would love you,
38

Getting used to, distribute immediately.
Judge you, what roses
We prepare Giemene
And maybe for many days.
Dreams and years have no refund,
Ah, no refund;
Do not update my soul! ..
I love you love brother,
Love Brother
Ile, maybe still gentle!
Listen to me without anger:
Changes more than once the mlaudy virgin
Dreams light dreams.

Learn to maintain:
Not everyone, as I will understand;
To trouble inexperience leads!

Together

Girls (scene)

Maiden, beauties,
Dowrs, girlfriends,
Bring, maidens,
Frash, cute!

(Onegin serves Tatiana's hand, and they leave in direction
To home. Girls continue to sing, gradually
moving away.)

As a thief of well done,
As envyed from published,
Scroll, cute,
We throw cherry.
Don't hear
Do not visit
Games are our girls.
39
