Engraving Children's scratch how to use. Creative lesson: engraving for children

Creative classes - an integral component of the child's education and learning. There are many types of artistic arts, to create in which children of any age can. For example, engraving for children is a technique, which can be developed already from three years. But interesting, such creativity will also be adolescents and parents.

Engraving as a type of visual art

Very often, this creative technique put in one row with visual art. And indeed, these varieties of creativity are enough. Crafts in the technique of engraving involves removing the protective layer using a special tool - a spatula or pen. Today, you can find ready-made sets to create a similar masterpiece. Alternative option - make the craft from and to do it yourself. Consider in detail this technique and try to understand what the engraving is useful for children?

Ready sets for factory production

Today, in any store toy or stationery, you can find a wide variety of sets for children's creativity. There are among them and those that are intended to create usually in such a set include the basis for creating a surround pattern, a special spatula / styel and instruction. Under the black background can be hidden white or colored base. For convenience, it is usually lines for which the tool should be carried out are already marked with color on black based. The cost of a set of "engraving for children" fluctuates within 100-500 rubles. It all depends on the size and complexity of the pattern. Please note: the recommended age of the young artist should be specified on the package. For the smallest choose simple small pictures, and for older children and adults - more complex. Attention! At the age of 3-5 years, the kids are advised to make engravings only in collaboration with adults. The task of parents is to tell about this creativity for children, show the main techniques and control the entire process.

Production of engraving using a candle

If you wish to make a set for creativity, no worse than in the store, you can, with your own hands at home. To do this, take a cardboard picture, you can use, for example, a page from a broken book. Cut the base of the appropriate size. Next, print it with a conventional candle or a piece of paraffin. The layer should turn out to be smooth and uniform. After that, cover the workpiece with a thick layer of gouache without adding water. Leave to dry for a few hours. After that, your engraving for children is ready, you can proceed to creativity. Offer the child to clean the entire picture or some separate items. You can also take a regular piece of cardboard, paint it randomly with paints, after which it is covered with wax and gouache. On such an engraving, it is more convenient to draw pictures, no matter how completely paint.

How to make engraving with your own hands without wax or paraffin?

If you have no candles at home, you should not get upset. Take a cardboard or a sheet of thick paper and paint the basis of these pencils well, and on top, as well as in the first way, apply gouache and dry. Another option involves the use of a finished picture and film. False packing packages, file folders or packing thin plastic are suitable. Glue a piece of film with a pencil with a pencil, apply a gouache from above and dry. Production of engravings is possible from glossy pictures. And this is one of the easiest ways. Take a page from the magazine, cover from coloring or some other glossy picture. Apply right on it gouache and, after complete drying, proceed to creativity. Preschoolers are recommended when creating engravings to use thin tools and try to keep them as a pencil or a pen - it will help to adapt the hand to the letter.

The benefits of this type of creativity

Children's engravings are interesting and very helpful crafts. This type of creativity develops a shallow motorcy, teaches a child to be attentive and amp. If you use a bought set, the baby learns to circle and carry out the right lines. Many children like the homemade basics for engraving on which there is no markup. When working with such a material, each time you have to guess what is hidden under the paint and where it should be erased. Interesting and arbitrary drawing based on creating engravings with a multi-colored background. Try to create together with the child using and ready-made sets, and self-made. Remember that the completed handicraft can become a wonderful interior decoration or an excellent gift for a holiday to someone from relatives.

Creativity for children is the limitless possibilities of self-expression and development. Never forget about it and try to regularly make a variety of decorative crafts with your daughter or son.

For acquaintance with the style of "engraving" and the acquisition of first experience, you can use a set for creativity, which is called "engraving." Such sets can be bought in both stores with art departments and online stores. Models for work are offered by various complexity, there are simple small pictures, but there are quite complex and thin painting. The recommended age of the engraver artist is specified on the package. In this case, such an occupation can captivate both a schoolchildren and a completely adult person. In the picture presented for example, the age of 3 years is indicated. But children in the youngest age need to work necessarily under the supervision of adults.

2 step

The billet for engraving looks like a dense sheet of metallized paper, coated with a tinted layer, on which the contours of the future drawing are applied. Metallized paper is of different colors: silver, gold or rainbow (overflowing colors).

3 Step

The set includes a tool for performing work - Stychel. This tool make notches on the upper dark layer, through which the resulting layer is manifted. Schtihel is like a handle, only her rod is metallic. For safety on the edge, the cap is put on when the calm does not work. If the work is performed by children, then it is necessary to control the handle with the shyhel so that there is no injury.

4 Step

To perform engravings, you should apply all drawn strokes, removing the tinted layer in these places. Styhel can perform thin notches or notches in sewing, depending on which side you will rotate it. Such work requires adherence and accuracy.

If you show the illustration, like this, with a motorcycle made by Mark Summers, even in the circle of illustrators, almost no one recognizes the technique. A part will confidently say that it is painted on the computer, they personally know the magic filter, which he himself drew. The part will say that it is all drawn by hand in black ink, imitating old engravings. And the most adult part, who has yet conducted youth for manual, and not digital tools, condescendingly paints all over the virtual shoulder: puppies, this is a wood engraving, I recognize her.

And they all will be mistaken :)

At first glance, it really looks like a wood engraving. Where white is chosen, where black drawing is left. Mimic such a car, first, laboriously, secondly, it will still be bad, it is necessary to draw a carcass, like a carcass and relies - black in white. These drawings are made in a technique similar to the engraving.

Wood engraving, really the oldest and classic book illustration technique. I have a story about the technique of illustration in the 19th century. If you briefly, the end cut of the tree was taken, so that the fibers go perpendicular to the drawing surface, grinding, was covered with her white, the drawing of the illustration and the engraver cut out the drawing. Everything that should have been black remained the surface of the tree, all that white was deepened. If it was necessary to make a thin black line, had to remove the tree on both parties. If you at least once cut the linograph or stamp, you present this technique in gross features.

A wooden piece became a printed stamp - paint was applied on it and imprinted on the lists of the future book. Thus were made illustration of tenniel to Alice. And here the most interesting thing arises. "Reclinists" to Alice does not exist. T -nanel came to the workshop to Gravel and painted on a piece of wood. The engraver then cut out everything too much so that the black drawing remains. Understood? Engraver.

The engraver determined exactly how the line will be held, how to determine the shadow, how gracefully or rudely the part will be cut.

In our times, the closest to this profession is an incorporate, a man pulling out the drawing to the comics. Not all artists draw comics from beginning to end themselves. Usually the artist draws a detailed pencil sketch and gives it to the inquir. The incorporate is waging all in ink. He decides how to make a black spot, where to put halftone, with what pressure will be the line in the eye. If you ever in the pioneer camp went to the burning circle on a tree, you can imagine the scatter of the results. If ten pioneers give a drawing of a mile bembabi, a copy, a piece of plywood and the device for burning, they will all burn out (call) the final drawing in different ways. Disney may not recognize his four-legged.

Therefore, what we see in books with Alice is how I went to Pioneer-Vorneanger engraver. Maybe all these persons adult ladies, with painted heavy eyes - just the choice of engraver?

In case you are interested, this unlucky hero called Thomas Dalziel, and he was from the family of very popular engravers of the Victorian era, even drawing an illustration. So it's not possible to completely spoil the illustration of a wooden stroke. But it does not cancel the fact that there are no paper, drawing originals to Alice. In the Oxford Museum, as the originals are stored wooden blocks with a cut-out pattern, from which the first circulation was printed. (More precisely, the second one. The first came rudely and dirty, the process demanded alterations and clarifications, only the second satisfied the tenniel, and the first sold on the second grade market - in America.

The wood engraving gave a distinct black and white drawing (which made engravings in the metal) and these qualities, naturally still attract aesthetically. But cutting around the tree - the case is complex and requires skill. Give the engravers your illustrations seem to be stupid, it is difficult to cut yourself - and the main question is why? In the docking era, it is clear why - with this board and the drawing was printed technically. Now, when everything is printed with digital forms, from the tree would have to print on paper, scan paper - and drawing to print. And cut only to make a print?

Today, no one cuts a tree for illustrations. The same effect can be achieved in a technique called Scratchboard. It is absolutely manual, the process in principle the same as in the wood engraving, but the "engraving board" is both a fingerprint, the final work.

See? White lines are cut, black remains untouched background, it looks completely like a wood engraving.

In fact, it is a specially prepared cardboard ("scratching board" in translation). A thick sheet of paper is covered with white clay, a substance with a chalk surface, a thin layer of ferrous paint, type of ink or carca is applied over the white layer. The artist puts on a black surface drawing, takes sharp tools - usually one of the X-ACTO knives and scratches the surface like engraver. The edge of the knife is easy to carry out lines of any width, as a pen, remove all black, where there should be white, stroke parallel and cross and completely create a view of a wooden engraving.

At the same time, if you are mistaken somewhere, you can cover this section in mascara and again engrave a failed place.

Now let's see what the typical process of such drawing looks like. Kent Barton is one of the outstanding American illustrators in this technique. Of course. This technique ordered work with historical fler or threshing raid. So he received an order for an illustration about Hangeyers.

First, the mass of reference material is assembled. Separate parts and scenes are drawn on with tracing:

A detailed drawing in which all the tone relations are approved, is approved by the Customer, if new options needed and lined. After that, the drawing is translated into a squarter. Kent works on on black, and on a white scratchboard. Why? It is not always convenient than a white background completely cleaned from a black scrapboard.

Therefore, it works with local black. On the right - the drawing prepared for work, the figure in it is filled with ink. Right - already "engraved" drawing on the fact that earlier was also a black spot.

He's not a knife in his hand, but a special scraper with a wooden handle and two episos:

Part of the part it is moving along the sheet. In order not to lubricate the drawing with black "chips", the napkin is put on the arm, the "loaded" dust from the drawing looks like a napkin from time to time.

Here is larger. On the black scratchboard black color is usually smooth and deep, it can be seen here how Kent painted himself. All the same, ultimately it will be a drawing with a linear hatching.

And this is his work:

Larger jacket:

For such a hatching, a solid hand is not worse than in antique engravers.

Here you can see what different types of strokes are applied. On the face in form, with expansion and narrowing line to create the desired tone, on a hat with separate white dots, on the background of a random crossed hatching.

Well, not a handsome?

Technique comes out especially well in such a technique (unexpected pun)

But directly imitation of the old illustration from some catalog or prospectus.

now let's look at one beautiful artist working in this technique - Mark Summers. This is his motorcycle at the beginning of the post, I hope I struck you with my scrupulsiness.

Fast sketch for illustration.

The second stage is a more detailed drawing with color. Some illustrators paint their "engravings". Mark just from those who love bruised drawings. Therefore, a detailed sketch, he draws a marker on a tracing, sticks this cushion on the colored sheet of the desired shade and over passes by legens in light places. She himself calls this technique of sketch of "Byzantine", meaning its strange complexity :)

It works just on a black scratchboard. Puts a picture on it and engraves a figure behind the figure. It takes at least three days for each character.

If the work was assumed to be colored, it scans his finished scratchboard, prints on the photo paper, paints thin watercolor details, then pours large planes with oil paints. So, unlike tenniel, he gets two original at once :)

It is clear that for such a technique you need to brilliantly draw first. And it is very good to deal with the lights - tone has to be typed in the way opposite to the usual drawing - the more you stroke in one place - the lighter there it becomes.

Here is a baked hatter. It is a pity that there were no scratchboards during Carolla :)

And one more commercial illustrator: Michael Halbert
Olive Tree:

And item:

Mark Twain:

And his right hand:

I do not know who, in a hat:

And item. Michael specifically imitates the most classic shape of a wooden engraving.

And the part is larger:

And finally: Halloween witch

And her face is large:

Now you are specialists in this rare technique :)

In LJ, I have other posts in the series "Illustory techniques", I will not give a link here.

I continue to tell you, my dear readers about various methods that help the child develop their creative abilities.

Today, my review is devoted to engraving for children.
The engraving is a great opportunity not only fascinating, but also with benefit to spend time creating a beautiful picture.

The hobby of engraving began at my daughter about two years ago, when she was about 5 years old.
We started their acquaintance with engravings for children with small engravings under the trade name Lori.

Drawings of this series are the simplest, since the image is performed using a small amount of lines.
The hatching in a small engraving is not much, it is not complicated, its size is only 95 * 145 mm.

To perform engraving in a set for children there is everything for this necessary - the basis with the contour of the pattern, the shyhel and the instructions for performing work.

Styhel is a special adaptation in the form of a pen with a pointed metal tip.

With the help of Stychel, short rampant presses, the contour of the picture is scratched, creating beautiful shiny lines.

In the photo below I give you an example begun engraving. The contour is brought with gray.
When you spend a shyhel on the contour, the top layer of paint is removed, exposing the brilliant base.
This engraving from the Silver series, so the drawing has a silver color.

The instruction is written by an understandable language and is accompanied by visual schemes of the process.

For older children (the manufacturer recommends from 6 years and older), as well as for those who have already mastered the technique of engraving, you can take engravings from the card series.
This engraving is slightly larger, its size is 110 * 170 mm.

It is also "with a metal effect", only from the Gold series.
As you can see, the complexity of the drawing is already higher - more strokes, if they are fulfilled, it is important to withstand the right direction.

The highlight of this engraving is that there are lyines on the reverse side, on which you can write the words of congratulations, and it will turn out the most real, made with your own hands!

The most difficult of the engravings that the daughter was performed on their own was as follows.

As you can see, the drawing is not very simple, made of thousands of small multidirection strokes.
Yes, and the size of this engraving for children seems more solid - 190 * 235 mm.

The most important thing for my daughter was to portray Tigritz with a cub, and finishing the background she was already bored, and she postponed her job.

Pay attention to the places on the engraving on the photo below. For children, working with Styhel, this is a difficult task - you need to constantly control the length and direction of the strokes and, which is important, the power of your press.
If the press is too strong, the metal base can be scattered together with the layer of the drawing contour to the cardboard base.

During the hobbies, the daughter performed about 5-6 works. What I demonstrate you today is those that have done moving to another city with us.

The range of engravings in stores today is very wide - the drawings are presented by almost any taste taste, of different complexity and sizes intended for children of different age categories.

It pleases that the price of engravings is not excellent, and therefore this type of creativity is affordable for children.
I have preserved price tags for engraving from a series of postcard and engraving small:

I like that the manufacturer on the turnover of packaging shows buyers which engravings are still available in this series.

For example, for the youngest children, you can buy engravings of three episodes - gold, silver and holography.

In addition to the above episodes (silver, gold and holography), engravings are also available on pink, blue and red metallic.

The most sophisticated engravings go in three versions - gold, silver and classic.

All these sets released LLC "7th" in the city of Yaroslavl, you will easily learn them in stores on the store "Lori Engravir".

The manufacturer focuses on the fact that engraving for children is useful - it develops figurative thinking, accuracy and perfection. But for me, as for Mom, it was the second! ...

The most important thing is to have helped classes, I think this is a preparation of a child's hand to school, to a letter!
Correctly hold the handle (Styhel in this case), spend smooth, neat lines of the required length and orientation, adjust the intensity of pressing, stroke - the mass of useful, the necessary skills that my daughter has mastered with pleasure and interest.

I am sure that partly thanks to the timely classes of gravy, today my daughter has one of the most accurate handers in the classroom, and she writes the faster all!

Svetlana Bolshakova

Recently, moving around your old records from courses, I found two leaflets with prints, two old engravings.

This engraving made of cardboard

And here in addition to cardboard Lace uses

We were shown techniques for work with the topup, the preparation of the cliché for imprint engravings. Then I really liked this technique. The case was approaching March 8 and I decided to do with the guys for moms engraving on postcard. Cliché I did from the cardboard myself, and the children only painted a gouache and made a writing on paper. Cardboard quickly twisted, peelled and went into disrepair. Preparatory work seemed difficult to me and more I engraving In working with children did not return. But, finding old leaves with engravingsI wanted to remember how it was done.

Gravy on cardboard(from Franz. gravure.) - Cut, create a relief - a type of ethamp. Relief printing is made by appliqué compiled from individual cardboard elements. Cardboard thickness should be at least 2 mm. Engraving came from jewelry. She is very multichen: linocut, metal engraving, gravy on cardboard, Woodcut, lithography. There are many ways to remove prints from natural objects: leaves, feathers, colors. Britter is an imitation engravings.

I want to show how to make engraving on cardboard. I took 2 identical cards 11x15 cm.

From one cut the frame and glued to the second, although it is not necessary

I decided to make a vase with flowers, cut out the vase and separate items to her

Cut flowers, meetings to them, leaves and parts of leaves

All stuck on the basis

I decided to take burgundy gouache

But I did not like it.

Crusted black

Strongly pressed while stroking fingers on the left, again

Painted once again and made an impression. Well, now you can stick on paper and insert into the frame

But my clichés, after three times, hesitated and elements began to settle

In search of the material on this topic on the Internet, I found recommendations for working with children using polystyrene and ceiling tiles. We yesterday and did this with my guests-Kukruzo. (I talked about this in the previous publication) - engraving Using polystyrene - vegetable substrates. I had one such a "bowl" from under the fungi, I cut it, first I tried on my granddaughters

My gouache is good, professional and breed with water is not necessary. And the children's gouache you need to dilute to the depletion of sour cream. The first impression may not succeed, and the second will already be better. Such an Estamp will never twist and children will independently draw a drawing with a ballpoint handle, paint with a gouache and make an impression

We dreamed gouache in vain, not very clearly seen a drawing.

Publications on the topic:
