Painting of modern Russian artists. Artists of modern painting

Here is a selection of paintings for still little known, but very talented artists. All the guys from Russia and our contemporaries. See, read and enjoy.

Guys, I write all the time here about rather well-known and personalities. I, of course, would be much more interesting to write about those artists, about whom it is not yet known to anyone, but what to do - it is in public vkontakte you can write about anything, and the blog can only write what people are looking for in Yandex and Google, Otherwise, in addition to you, no one will go there. But for a variety and pleasure I, nevertheless, decided to make a selection of "little-known modern artists of Russia and their paintings."

  • What else interesting? (references to other articles).
  • Marchuk's paintings - one of the most famous modern Ukrainian artists
  • The legendary dean of the faculty of graphics famous "Repeinki".

Someone from these guys is still at the very beginning of its path, and someone has already taken place relatively and successfully sells their works in VKontakte or on marketers on the type of fairs of masters and are even known in the narrow circles, but everyone is united by one - they are still Not known to wide masses. But unknown - does not mean deprived of talent, so I think you will be interested to look. I decided to turn on here not only the actual draftsmen, but also several sculptors.

Little-known modern artists of Russia and their paintings. Illustrators and painters.

Little-known artists. Color surreal modern in the paintings of Maria Susarenko.

I learned about this artist not so long ago and almost immediately fell in love with her paintings. Partly because she is very close to me in spirit, as an artist, partly due to admiration for the technique and the violence of fantasy. Maria Susarenko - a cute girl from St. Petersburg and a graduate of the famous SPbGHP them. A.L. Stiglitz. The pictures of Mary Susarenko are a bright mix of modern and surrealism. It looks very bright and decorative.

Little-known modern artists in Russia. Sculptors.

Let it be not pictures here, but decorations, but they are so prestivable and love that I could not resist. In the end, the sculptor is also an artist. Yes, the artist can be a painter, a schedule, an illustrator or sculptor (your captain is obvious). There are two girls, whose decorations would not be posted by the Rena Lalik himself.

Little-known artists. Grimoire black chicken.

In the workshop "Grimoire La Poule Noire", which translated "Grimoire of the Black Chicken" (your captain is obvious), holds Lera Prokopets. Lera is a sculptor miniature and just a gorgeous lady. It works primarily with polymer clay and stones. Lera creates stunning decorations in the style that I would call the Gothic "Art Nouveau." Such a slightly witchcraft, dark, but elegant beauty. Well, it would still, because this is the "grimar of the black chicken".

The rating of the most expensive work is now living artists - this is a design that speaks about the role and place of the artist in the history of art is much less than about the age and fortress of health

Rules for the preparation of our rating are simple: first, only the transactions with the works of living authors are taken into account; secondly, only public auction sales are taken into account; And thirdly, the rule "One artist is one job" (if in the ranking of work two records belong to Jones, then only the most expensive thing remains, and the rest are not taken into account). Ranking is conducted in terms of dollars (at the rate at the date of sale).

1. Jeff Kuns Rabbit. 1986. $ 91,075 million

The longer you observe the auction career Jeff Kuns (1955), the more you are convinced that there is nothing impossible for pop art. You can admire the sculptures of the kun in the form of toys from balloons, and you can consider their kich and a chamber - your right. One cannot deny it: the installations of Jeff Kuns are crazy money.

Jeff Kuns began his way to the fame of the most successful in the world now the living artist in the distant 2007, when his gigantic metal installation "Suspended Heart" was purchased for $ 23.6 million at Sotheby's auction "S. work bought representing Kuns Gallery Larry Gagosyan (in The press wrote that in the interests of the Ukrainian billionaire Victor Pinchuk). Gallery did not have just installed, but, in fact, the work of jewelry art. Let the work performed and not from gold (stainless steel served) and the size of it is clearly more than ordinary coulon (sculpture height. 2.7 m weighs 1,600 kg), but it has a similar purpose. It was spent more than six and a half thousand hours to produce a heart composition with a heart coated with ten layers. As a result, a giant money paid for a spectacular "decoration".

Next was the sale of a "flower from a balloon" of purple color for £ 12.92 million ($ 25.8 million) on London Birds Christie's June 30, 2008. Interestingly, the seven years earlier previous owners of the "flower" acquired a job for $ 1.1 million. It is easy to calculate that during this time its market price has grown almost 25 times.

The decline in the art market of 2008-2009 gave the skeptics a reason to state that fashion for Kuns was held. But they were mistaken: together with the art market, the interest in the works of Kuns was revived. The successor Andy Warhol on the throne of King Pop Art updated his personal record in November 2012 for sale on Christie's multi-colored sculpture "Tulips" from the series "Celebration" for $ 33.7 million, taking into account the Commission.

But the "tulips" were "flower" in the literal and figurative sense. Just a year later, in November 2013, the sale of stainless steel sculptures "Dog from balloons (orange)": the price of the hammer was as much as $ 58.4 million! The fabulous amount for the now living artist. The product of the modern author was sold for the price of the painting Van Gogh or Picasso. These were already berries ...

With this result, Kuns reigned for several years at the top of the rating now living artists. In November 2018, David Hokney surpassed him for a while (see the second line of our rating). But in just six months, everything returned to the circles: May 15, 2019 in New York at the auction of post-war and modern art Christie's for sale, the sculpture of 1986 was put up for sale - a silver "rabbit" from stainless steel, imitating the air ball of such a form.

In total, Kuns sculptures created 3 jokes plus one author's copy. A copy of the "Rabbit" came to the auction at number 2 - from the collection of the cult publisher Saya Newhouse, co-owner of the Conde Nast publishing house (Vogue magazines, Vanity Fair, Glamor, GQ, etc.). Silver "Rabbit" was bought by the "father of Glamor" by Say Newhouse in 1992 for an impressive amount of the sum of those years - 1 million dollars. After 27 years in the struggle of 10 bidders, the size of the sculpture sculpture 80 times exceeded the previous sale price. And taking into account the BUYER's Premium Commission, the final result was a record for all of the living artists of $ 91,075 million.

2. David Hokney Portrait of the artist. Swimming pool with two pieces. 1972. $ 90 312 500

David Hokney (1937) is one of the most significant British artists of the twentieth century. In 2011, according to the results of a survey, thousands of professional British artists and sculptors, David Hokney recognized the most influential British artist of all time. At the same time, Hokney bypassed such Matters as William Törsner and Francis Bacon. His creativity, as a rule, belong to Pop Art, although in early work he more to expressionism in the spirit of Francis Bacon.

David Hokney was born and grew up in England, in the county of Yorkshire. The mother of the future artist kept the family in the Puritan rigor, and his father, a simple accountant, a little drawn at the amateur level, encouraged the classes of the Son Picturesque. Twenty with a little David left in California, where there was a total of about three decades. He and now there are two workshops. Hokney made the heroes of his works of local rich, their villas, swimming pools, filled with the California Sun of Lawns. One of the most famous works of the American period is a painting "Splash" - represents an image of a spray snop, raised from the pool after the man jumped into the water. To portray this sheaf, "living" no more than two seconds, Hokney worked for two weeks. By the way, this picture in 2006 was sold at Sotheby's for $ 5.4 million and for some time was considered the most expensive work.

Hokney (1937) is already eighty, but it still works and even invents new feature techniques using technical innovations. Once he came up with making huge collages from the believable pictures, printed his work on fax devices, and today the artist with an inspiration is mastered by drawing on the iPad. Pictures drawn on the tablet occupy a worthy place at his exhibitions.

In 2005, Hokney finally returned from the States to England. Now he writes on the captivity and in the workshop huge (frequently consisting of several parts) landscapes of local forests and wastelife. According to Hokney, for 30 years spent in California, he is so convolutions from a simple change of seasons that she truly admires him and fascinates. The whole cycles of its recent works are devoted, for example, the same landscape at different times of the year.

In 2018, the prices of the Pictures of Hokney several times pierced the mark of 10 million dollars. And on November 15, 2018, a new absolute record for creativity was registered for creativity now the living artist - $ 90,132,500 for the painting "Portrait of an artist (swimming pool with two figures)."

3. Gerhard Richter. Abstract painting. 1986. $ 46.3 million

Live classic Gerhard Richter (1932) ranked second in our ranking. The German artist was the leader among the now living colleagues until the 58 million record of Jeff Kunsa robbed. But it is unlikely that this circumstance can shake the already iron authority of Richter at the art market. According to the results of 2012, the annual auction turnover of the German artist is inferior only to similar indicators Andy Warhol and Pablo Picasso.

For many years, nothing foreshadowed that success who fell on Richter now. For decades, the artist occupied a modest place in the market of modern art and not at all sought to fame. It can be said that Glory sheltered him. Many consider the purchase of the New York Moma Moma Museum in 1995 by Richter's works on October 18, 1977. The American Museum paid $ 3 million for 15 paintings in gray colors and soon thought about holding a full retrospective of the German artist. The grand exhibition opened six years later, in 2001, and since then the interest in the work of Richter roses as on yeast. From 2004 to 2008, prices for its painting have grown three times. In 2010, Richter has already brought $ 76.9 million, in 2011, according to ArtNet, the works of Richter at auctions in the amount of $ 200 million, and in 2012 (according to ArtPrice) - $ 262.7 million more than Works of any other living artist.

While Jasper Jones, Jasper Jones accompanies stunning success in the auction, mostly in early work, for the works of Richter such a sharp separation is not characteristic: the demand is equally resistant to things of different creative periods, which in Richter's career was a great set. Over the past sixty years, this artist tried himself in almost all traditional picturesque genres - portrait, landscape, marina, nude, still life and, of course, abstraction.

The history of the auction records of Richter began with a series of still lifes "Candles". 27 photorealistic images of candles in the early 1980s, during their spelling, cost only 15 thousand German brands ($ 5,800) for work. But "Candles" anyway, no one bought at their first exhibition in the Gallery of Max Hezler in Stuttgart. Then the theme of the patterns was named old-fashioned; Today, the "candles" consider works for all times. And they stand millions of dollars.

In February 2008, Candle, written in 1983, was unexpectedly purchased for £ 7.97 million ($ 16 million). This personal record lasted three and a half years. Then in October 2011 one more "Candle" (1982) I left the hammer on Christie's already for £ 10.46 million ($ 16.48 million). With this record, Gerhard Richter first entered the top three most successful living artists, taking his place for Jasper Jones and Jeff Kuns.

Then the victorious procession of the "abstract paintings" of Richter began. Similar works by the artist writes in a unique author's technique: it makes a mixture of simple paints on a light background, and then with a long scraper with a car bumper swinging them on the canvas. In this case, intricate color transitions, stains and stripes are obtained. Consider the surface of its "abstract paintings" like excavations: they are traces of various "figures" overlook the breaks of numerous colorful layers.

November 9, 2011 At the auction of modern and post-war art Sotheby's large-scale "Abstract picture (849-3)" 1997 left the hammer for $ 20.8 million (£ 13.2 million). And half a year later, May 8, 2012 At the auction of post-war and modern art Christie's in New York "Abstract picture (798-3)" 1993 left for record $ 21.8 million (taking into account the Commission). After five months - again a record: "Abstract picture (809-4)" From the collection of rock musician Eric Clapton on October 12, 2012 at Sotheby's auction in London left the hammer for £ 21.3 million ($ 34.2 million). The barrier of 30 million was taken by Richter with such an ease, as if it were not about modern painting, but about masterpieces, which had been no less for years. Although in the case of Richter it seems that the inclusion in the "Great" pantheon occurred during the lifetime of the artist. The prices of the German works continue to grow.

The next record of Richter belonged to photorealistic work - Landscape "Cathedral Square, Milan (Domplatz, Mailand)" 1968. Work was sold for 37.1 million at Sotheby's auction May 14, 2013. The view of the beautiful square was written by the German artist in 1968 by order of Siemens Electro, especially for the company's Milan office. At the time of his writing, it was the biggest figurative product of Richter (almost three three meters size).

The record "Cathedral Square" lasted almost two years while February 10, 2015 His not interrupted "Abstract picture" (1986): the price of the hammer reached £ 30,389 million ($ 46.3 million). The "Abstract Picture" "Abstract Pattern" Sotheby's Bidding with a size of 300.5 × 250.5 cm is one of the first large-scale works of Richter in its particular author's technique scraper of paint layers. For the last time in 1999, this "abstract picture" was purchased at auction for $ 607 thousand (from this year and up to the current sales work was exhibited at the Ludwig Museum in Cologne). At the auction of February 10, 2015, a certain American client auction steps for £ 2 million reached the price of a hammer of $ 46.3 million. Since 1999, work has grown in price by more than 76 times!

4. Cui Zhurzho "Great Snow-covered Mountains." 2013. $ 39,577 million.

For a long time, we did not carefully follow the development of the situation in the Chinese art market, not wanting to overload our readers with an overnight amount of information about "not our" art. With the exception of dissident Ai Weiwei, not so even expensive, as a resonant artist, Chinese authors seemed to us too numerous and distant from us to delve into what they had there on the market. But statistics, as they say, the lady is serious, and if we are talking about the most successful now living authors in the world, then without a story about the outstanding representatives of Contemporary-art, it is still not to do.

Let's start with the Chinese artist Cui Zuzhuo (Cui Ruzhuo). The artist was born in 1944 in Beijing, from 1981 to 1996 lived in the United States. After returning to China, he began to teach at the National Academy of Arts. Tsui Zhurzho rethinks the traditional Chinese maneru of drawing in mascara and creates huge web scrolls that Chinese businessmen and officials as gifts are so loved. In the West, it is known to be extremely small, although it must be, many remember history with a scroll for $ 3.7 million, which mistakenly thrown out, accepted for garbage, Cleaners of the Hong Kong hotel. So it was a scroll of Tsui Zhurzho.

Zui Zhurzho is already 70, and the market of his work is flourishing. Over 60 works of this artist crossed the bar at $ 1 million. However, the success of his work is still only in Chinese auctions. Records Cui Zhurzho really impress. At first it "Landscape in the snow" At Poly Auction auction in Hong Kong April 7, 2014 reached the price of a hammer in 184 million Hong Kong dollars ( $ 23.7 million US).

Exactly one year later April 6, 2015,at the Special Poly Auction auction in Hong Kong, dedicated exclusively to the works of Cui Zhurzho, series "Great Snow Landscape of Mountain Jiangnan"(Jiannan - the historical region in China, which occupies the right bank of the Nizhtze) Of the eight landscapes of ink on paper, the price of a hammer of 236 million Hong Kong dollars reached ( $ 30,444 million USA).

A year later, the story again repeated: at the Solo-auction, Zui Zhurzho, held by Poly Auctions in Hong Kong April 4, 2016 Polyptih from six parts "Great snow-covered mountains" 2013 reached the price of a hammer (including the Commission of the Auction House) 306 million Hong Kong dollars ($ 39,577 million USA). So far, this is an absolute record among the Asian now living artists.

As art dealer Johnson Chan believes, for 30 years working with Chinese modern art, there is an unconditional desire to raise prices for the work of this author, but all this happens at such a price level, where experienced collectors are unlikely to want to buy something. "The Chinese want to raise the ratings of their artists, inflecting the prices of their work at large international auctions like the fact that Poly organized in Hong Kong, but should not doubt that these ratings are fully fabricated," comments Johnson Chan's last record Tsui Zhurzho.

This, of course, only the opinion of one separate dealer, and we have a real record recorded in all databases. So we will reckon with it. Tsui Zuhuo himself, judging by his statements, far from the modesty of Gerhard Richter, when it comes to his auction success. It seems that this race for records is seriously fascinated. "I hope that for the next 5-10 years, prices for my work will exceed the prices of the work of Western masters like Picasso and Van Gogh. This is a Chinese dream, "says Tsui Zhurzho.

5. Jasper Jones Flag. 1983. $ 36 million

The third place in the rating of the living artists belongs to the American Jasper Johnsu (1930). Current record price for Johns - $ 36 million. So much paid for his famous "Flag" In the alard of Christie "s November 12, 2014.

A series of pictures "Flags", started by Jones in the mid-1950s, immediately after the returned artist from the army, became one of the central in his work. The artist was still in youth interested in the idea of \u200b\u200bRedi-Meida, turning the everyday object into the work of art. However, Jones Flags were not real, they were written by oil on canvas. Thus, the work of art acquired the properties of a thing from ordinary life, it was at the same time and the image of the flag and the flag itself. A series of works with flags brought Jasper Juses world fame. But its abstract work is equally popular. For many years, the list of the most expensive work, compiled by the above rules, headed his abstract "False start". Until 2007, this very bright and decorative canvas, written by Jones in 1959, was considered the owner of a practically inaccessible for now the living artist (albeit a lifetime classic) prices - $ 17 million. So much for it was paid in gold for the art market 1988..

Interestingly, the experience of Jasper Jones as a carrier of a record was not continuous. In 1989, he interrupted the work of a colleague on the Villem de Kunning workshop: the two-meter abstraction "Mix" was sold at Sotheby "S for $ 20.7 million. Jasper Johns had to be moved. But after 8 years, in 1997, de Cuning died, and" Falstart "Jones again took the first line of auction rating now living artists for almost 10 years.

But in 2007 everything changed. The record "Falstart" first eclipsed the works of young and ambitious Damien Hirst and Jeff Kuns. Then there was a record sale for $ 33.6 million "Sleeping Inspector for Benefits" Brush Lusien Freud (now the deceased, and therefore, which is not participating in this ranking). Next, the records of Gerhard Richter began. In general, so far with the current record of 36 million Jasper Jones, one of the masters of American post-war art, working at the neo-Dadaism junction, abstract expressionism and pop art, is at the honorable third place.

6. Ed Rushe SMASH. 1963. $ 30.4 million

Sudden success of the painting "SMASH" of the American artist's brush Edward Rushaya (r. 1937) at bargains CHRISTIE'S November 12, 2014 Brought this author to the most expensive living artists. The previous record price for Ed Rushaya's works (often the name Ruscha is pronounced in Russian as "Ruša", but the correct pronunciation of the roaster) was "total" $ 6.98 million: so much paid for its canvas "Burning benzocolon" in 2007. Seven years later his "SMASH" Under the estimate $ 15-20 million reached the price of a hammer $ 30.4 million. Obviously, the market of the works of this author came to a new level - it is not for nothing that his works is decorated with the White House Barack Obama, and Larry Gagosyan himself exhibits him in his galleries.

Ed Rushe never sought to post-war new york with his patient's hobby with abstract expressionism. Instead, for over 40 years, he was looking for inspiration in California, where he moved from Nebraski aged 18. The artist stood at the origins of a new course in art, called pop art. Together with Warhol, Liechtenstein, Wayne Tibo and other singers, Edward Hushet in 1962 took part in the exhibition "A new image of ordinary things" in the Pasaden Museum, which became the first museum exposition of American pop art. However, Ed Rushe himself does not like when his work is attributed to pop art, conceptualism or some other flow in art.

Its unique style is called "text painting." Since the late 1950s, Ed Rushe began to draw words. Also, for Warhol, the work of the art was the bank of Soup, for Ed Rushaya were the usual words and phrases taken by him or a billboard or packaging in the supermarket, or from the movie titers (Hollywood was always from Rusheya "under the side", And unlike many artists-artists, Rushev respected a "dream factory"). Words on his canvases acquire the properties of three-dimensional objects, these are real still lifes from words. When looking at its web, the first to mind comes the visual and sound perception of the drawn word, and after - semantic meaning. The latter, as a rule, is not amenable to unambiguous decryption; Selectable words and phrases can be interpreted in different ways. The same bright yellow word "SMASH" on a deep blue background can be perceived as an aggressive call to break into something or someone; As a single adjective, eliminated from the context (part of some newspaper header, for example), or simply as a separate word caught in the urban flow of visual images. Ed Rushe enjoys this uncertainty. "I always deeply respected strange, inexplicable things ... The explanations in some sense kill the thing," he said in one of the interviews.

7. Christopher Vul Unnamed (Riot). 1990. $ 29.93 million

American artist Christopher Vul (1955) I first broke into the rating of the living artists in 2013 - after selling the work of the Apocalypse today for $ 26.5 million. This record immediately put it in one row with Jasper Jones and Gerhard Richter. The amount of this historical deal - more than $ 20 million was surprised at many, since before it the price of the artist did not exceed $ 8 million. However, the rapid growth in the work of Christopher Voura's work was already evident: there were 48 auction transactions in the amount of more than $ 1 million, and 22 of them (almost half) were held in 2013. Two years later, the number of works of Chris Voula, sold more than $ 1 million, reached 70, and the new personal record did not make himself wait. At bargains Sotheby's May 12, 2015 work "Untitled (Riot)" was sold for $ 29.93 million Taking into account Buyer's Premium.

Christopher Vul is known mainly to its large-scale work with images of black letters on white aluminum sheets. They, as a rule, establish records at auctions. All these are the end of the 1980s - early 1990s. As the legend says, one day Wolly walked in the evening in New York and suddenly saw on a new white truck graffiti with black letters - words Sex and Luv. This is the spectacle so impressed him that he immediately returned to the workshop and wrote his version with these words. In the courtyard was 1987, and further search by the artist of words and phrases for their "letter" works reflect the controversial spirit of this time. This is the call "Sell a house, sell the car, sell children", taken by VULT from the film "Apocalypse Today", and the word "fool" ("fool") in capital letters, and the word "Riot" ("Rebellion"), often found in newspaper headlines of that time.

Words and phrases of Vul put on aluminum sheets with stencils by alkyd or enamel paints, intentionally leaving drums, traces from stencils and other evidence of the creative process. The words artist divided so that the viewer did not immediately understand the meaning. At first, you only see the cluster of letters, i.e. you perceive the word as a visual object, and only then you are reading and deciphering the meaning of the phrase or words. Vul used the font, which was in the course of the American military after the Second World War, which strengthens the impression of the order, directives, slogan. These "letter" works are perceived as part of the urban landscape as illegal graffiti, disturbing the purity of the surface of some street object. This series of works of Christopher VUL is recognized as one of the vertices of linguistic abstraction, and therefore it is estimated to be so high by lovers of contemporary art.

8. Peter Doyig Rovel. 1991. $ 28.81 million

Briton Peter Doyig.(1959), even though he refers to the generation of postmodernists Kuns and Hirst, chose a very traditional genre of the landscape for himself, for a long time formerly not in Favor's advanced artists. Peter Doyig will revive the interest of the public to the figurative painting. His work is highly appreciated both critics and non-specialists, and evidence of this is a rapid rise in prices for his works. If in the early 1990s, his landscapes cost several thousand dollars, now the bill goes to millions.

Doyig's work is often called magical realism. Based on real landscapes, it creates fantasy, mysterious and often dark images. The artist loves to portray the objects abandoned by people: a dilapidated building of the construction of Le Corbusier in the midst of a forest or an empty white canoe on a stroy lake. In addition to nature and imagination, Doyaga inspire horror films, old postcards, photos, amateur videos, and so on. Doyig paintings are colorful, complex, decorative and not provocative. Such painting is nice. Heats the interest of collectors also low productivity of the author: the artist who lives in Trinidad creates no more than a dozen pictures per year.

In the early 2000s, separate landscapes of the artist were sold for several hundred thousand dollars. At the same time, Doyiga came to the Gallery of Saatchi, on Biennale in the Whitney Museum and the collection of MOMA. In 2006, auction plan was overcome at $ 1 million. And next year an unexpected breakthrough occurred: the work "White Canoe", proposed on Sotheby's on February 7, 2007 with an estimate of $ 0.8-1.2 million, five times exceeded preliminary assessment and It was sold for £ 5.7 million ($ 11.3 million). At that time it was a record price for the work of the living European artist.

In 2008, Personal exhibitions of Doyiga in the Tate Gallery and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Paris took place. Multimillion price tags for Doyign work has become the norm. Peter Doyig personal record has recently been updated several times a year - we only have time to change the picture and place of this artist in our ranking now living authors.

To date, the most expensive work of Peter Doyiga is a snowy landscape "Roselyl" ("Rosedale") 1991. What is interesting, the record was not installed on Sotheby's or Christie's, but at the auction of modern art auction house Phillips. This happened on May 18, 2017. The view of the snow-covered routes, one of the districts of Toronto, was sold to a telephone buyer for $ 28.81 million. This is about 3 million above the previous record ($ 25.9 million for the work "absorbed by the quagger"). The band "ROZDEIL" took part in the key exhibition of Doyig in the WhiteChapel Gallery in London in 1998, and in general this work for the market was fresh, and therefore a record price is quite deserved.

9. Frank Stella Cape Pine. 1959. $ 28 million

Frank Stella (Frank Stella) is a bright representative of the post-knowledge abstraction and minimalism in art. At a certain stage, it is referred to as hard edge painting (Hard Edge Painting). At first, Stella contrasted with strict geometry, ascetic monochromicity and structuredness of its spontaneity paintings and chaotic paintings of abstract expressionists like Jackson Pollock.

In the late 1950s, the artist was noticed by the famous gallery player Leo Castelli and first awarded the exhibition. On her, he presented the so-called "black paintings" - the canvas, painted by parallel black lines with thin intervals of an immature canvas between them. The lines are folded into geometric shapes, something resembling optical illusions, the most pictures that flicker move are moving, tightened, create a feeling of deep space, if you look at them for a long time. The topic of parallel lines with thin dividing stripes Stella continued in the works on aluminum and copper. Paints changed, scenic base and even form of patterns (among others, work in the form of letters U, T, L) is allocated). But the main principle of his painting was still in clarity contour, monumentality, simple form, monochromicity. In the next decades, Stella left such geometric painting towards smooth, natural forms and lines, and from monophonic paintings - to bright and diverse color transitions. In the 1970s, Stella captured huge patterns, with the help of which the ships are painted. The artist used them for huge paintings with elements of the Assembly - included pieces of steel pipes or wire mesh.

In his early interviews, Frank Stella frankly argues about the meanings invested in their work, more precisely, about their absence: "What you see, there is something you see." The picture is the object itself, rather than playing anything. "This is a flat surface with paint on it and nothing more," said Stella.

Well, signed by Frank Stella, this "surface with paint on it" today can cost millions of dollars. For the first time in the rating of the living artists, Frank Stella, in 2015, with the sale of the work "Transition of Delaver" (1961) for $ 13.69 million, taking into account the Commission.

Four years later, May 15, 2019, the new record has established an early (1959) work "Cape Pines": the price of the hammer was over $ 28 million, taking into account the commission. This is one of the 29 "black paintings" - the most with whom Stella debuted at his first exhibition in New York. A graduate of Princeton University Frank Stelle was then 23 years old. Money on the oil paint for artists was often lacking. The young artist worked as repair work, he really liked the clean colors of paint paint, and then the idea arose to work this paint on canvas. Black enamel paint Stella writes parallel stripes, leaving thin lines of unguarded canvas between them. And he writes without lines, on the eye, without prior sketch. Stella never knew how many black lines would succeed in a specific picture. For example, in the picture "Cape Soskin", there were 35. The name of the work refers to the name of the Cape in the Massachusetts Bay - Point of Pines. At the beginning of the twentieth century, it was a large amusement park on it, and today it is one of the districts of the city of Revir.

10. Yoshito Nara Knife behind your back. 2000. $ 24.95 million

Yoshito Nara (1959) is one of the key figures of the Japanese neo-pop art. Japanese - because, despite global fame and many years of work abroad, his work still distinguishes a pronounced national identity. Favorite characters of Nara - Girls and Dogs in the style of Japanese comic manga and anime. The images invented by him for many years as "went into the people": they are printed on T-shirts, make souvenirs with them and different Merch. Born in the poor family, far from the capital, he is not only loved for talent, but also appreciate as a person who has done themselves. The artist works fast, expressively. It is known that some of his masterpieces were made literally per night. Pictures and sculptures of Yosito Nara are usually very concise, and even there are stingy in expressive means, but always carry a strong emotional charge. Teenage girls near Nara often look at the viewer with unkilled square. In their eyes - audacity, challenge and aggression. In the hands - then a knife, then a cigarette. There is an opinion that the depicted perversions of behavior is the reaction to the gulling public morality, various taboos, and the principles of education adopted by the Japanese. Almost medieval severity and shame drive problems inside, create a soil for a deferred emotional explosion. "The knife behind the back" at the same time reflects one of the main ideas of the artist. In this work there is a girl's hated look, and a hand threatening behind the back. Until 2019, the paintings and sculptures of Yosito Nara have repeatedly taken a mark in a million, or even a few million. But twenty million - for the first time. Nara is one of the most famous artists in the world of Japanese origin. And now the most expensive from now living. On October 6, 2109, at Sotheby's in Hong Kong, he selected this title with Takasi Murakami and markedly by the 90-year-old avant-garde of Yoya Kusama (the maximum auction prices for its paintings are already approaching $ 9 million).

11. Zeng Fanchi Last evening. 2001. $ 23.3 million

At Sotheby's auction in Hong Kong October 5, 2013. The year large-scale cloth "Last Supper" Peking artist Zeng Fangzhi (1964) It was sold for a record amount of 160 million Hong Kong dollars - $ 23.3 million USA. The final cost of the fangius was written, of course, under the influence of the creativity of Leonardo da Vinci, was twice as high as the preliminary estimate of about $ 10 million. Previous price record Jeng Fangzhi - $ 9.6 millionChristie's Hong Kong Birdtage In May 2008 for work "A series of mask. 1996. No. 6 ".

"The Last Supper" is the largest (2.2 × 4 meter) of the Fangi's web in the "Masks" series, covering the period from 1994 to 2001. The cycle is devoted to the evolution of Chinese society under the influence of economic reforms. The introduction of the Government of the PRC of the elements of the market economy led to urbanization and disagreement of the Chinese. Falggy depicts residents of modern Chinese megalopolises, which have to fight for the place under the sun. All the well-known composition of the frescoes of Leonardo in reading Fangii acquires a completely different meaning: the place of action was transferred from Jerusalem to the classroom of Chinese school with typical boards of hieroglyphs on the walls. "Christ" and "Apostles" turned into pioneers with almy ties, and only "Judas" wears a golden tie - this is a metaphor of Western capitalism, penetrating and destroying the usual way of life in a socialist country.

The works of Jeng Falggy are stylistically close to European expressionism and are just as dramatic. But at the same time they are full of Chinese symbols and specifics. This versatility attracts the artist's creativity of both Chinese and Western collectors. Direct confirmation of this is the provenance of "Secret Supper": the work was put up for a trading in the famous collector of the Chinese avant-garde of the 1980s - early 1990s - Belgian Baron Guy Ullens.

12. Robert Rayman Bridge. 1980. $ 20.6 million

At bargains Christie's May 13, 2015 Abstract work "Bridge" 85-year-old American artist Robert Raimana (Robert Ryman) was sold for $ 20.6 milliongiven the commission - twice as expensive than the lower estimate.

Robert Rayman (1930) I did not immediately understand what he wanted to become an artist. At the age of 23, he moved to New York from Nashville (Tennessee), wanting to become a jazz saxophonist. In the meantime, he did not become a famous musician, I had to work as a security guard in Mom, where his acquaintance with Sollar Le Witt and Dan Flavin took place. The first worked at the Museum of the Night Secretary, and the second guard and lifter. Under the impression of abstract expressionists, Rotko, De Cunning, Pollock and Newman, who have seen in MOMA, Robert Raiman, in 1955, was engaged in painting.

Riman is often classified as minimalists, but he prefers to be called a "realist", since it is not interested in creating illusions, it only demonstrates the qualities of the materials used by him. Most of its works are written by paints of all possible shades of white (from grayish or yellowish - to dazzling white) based on a laconic square shape. For his career, Robert Rayman tried many materials and technicians: wrote with oil, acrylic, casein, enamel, pastel, gouache, etc. on canvas, steel, plexiglass, aluminum, paper, corrugated cardboard, vinyl, wallpaper, etc. His friend Professional Restoretor Orrin Riley, advised him about the effect of those materials that he had to use it. As the artist once said, "I never arises the question, what write, most importantly - as write". It's all about the texture, in the character of smears, in the border between the colorful surface and the edges of the base, as well as in the ratio of work and walls. Since 1975, the special element of its works becomes fasteners, the design of which Rayman is developing himself and deliberately leaves them visible, emphasizing his work "the same as real as the real walls on which they hang." Riman prefers to give the works of "names", but not "names". "Name" is what helps to distinguish one work from another, and Riman often gives names to their works on paint brands, companies, etc., and the "title" claims to some allocations and deeply hidden meanings, the presence of which In their works, the artist regularly denies. Nothing but material and technology does not matter.

13. Damien Hearst Sleepy spring. 2002. $ 19.2 million

English artist Damien Herst (1965) It was destined to turn on the first place of this rating in a dispute with live classic Jasper Jones. Already mentioned work "Falstart" could still remain a non-optimized leader if June 21, 2007 Installation at that time 42-year-old Kherst "Sleepy Spring" (2002) was not sold on Sotheby "S for £ 9.76 million, that is, for $ 19.2 million. Work, by the way, has a rather unusual format. On the one hand, this is a wardrobe showcase with tablets (6,136 pill), in fact, classical installation. And on the other, this showcase is made flat (10 cm deep), is taken into the frame and hanging on the wall, like a plasma panel, thereby ensuring the comfort of possession, typical of the paintings. In 2002, the sister of this installation, the "Sleepy Winter", went for $ 7.4 million, more than twice as cheaper. The difference in the price of someone "explained" by the fact that the winter tablets are more faded. But it is clear that this explanation is absolutely groundless, because the pricing mechanism for such things is no longer associated with their decorativeness.

In 2007, many recognized Hearst by the author of the most expensive work among hellish artists. The question is true, from the category "depending on how to count." The fact is that Herst was sold for expensive pounds, and Jones for now cheaper dollars, and even twenty years ago. But even if you consider it at par, excluding 20 years of inflation, the work of Hirst was more expensive in dollars, and in pounds - Jones. The situation was a border, and everyone himself was wave to decide who to consider the most expensive. But herst lasted in the first place not so long. In the same 2007, he was shifted from the first place Kuns with his "suspended heart."

Just on the eve of the global decline in prices for contemporary art, Herst undertook an unprecedented start-up for the young artist - the solo-auction of his works, which took place on September 15, 2008 in London. Lehman Brothers announced on the eve of bankruptcy bankruptcy did not spoil the appetite to lovers of contemporary art: from the proposed Sotheby's 223 works of new owners did not find only five (one of the buyers, by the way, was Viktor Pinchuk). Composition "Golden Taurus" - Huge scarecrow bull in formaldehyde, topped with a gold disk, "brought already £ 10.3 million ($ 18.6 million). This is the best result of Harst, if you consider in pounds (in the currency in which the transaction was carried out). However, we are ranking in terms of dollars, therefore (maybe forgive us "Golden Taurus") of the best selling of Hirst we will be considered still "Sleepy Spring".

Since 2008, the sales of the "Sleepy Spring" level and the "Golden Taurus" did not have. Fresh Records of the 2010th - on the works of Richter, Jones, Fangi, Voura and Kuns - moved Damien on the sixth line of our rating. But we will not make a categorical judgment about sunset the era of Hirst. According to analysts, Hearst as "Superstar" has already entered the story, and therefore it will be for a very long time; However, the greatest value in the future is predicted for works created in the most innovative period of his career, that is, in the 1990s.

14. Maurizio Kattelan. HIM. 2001. $ 17.19 million

Italian Maurizio Katteman (1960) came to art after he worked as a guard, a cook, gardener and furniture designer. The self-taught author became world famous due to its ironic sculptures and installations. He collapsed the meteorite on Pope Roman, turned the customer's wife to a hunting trophy, expressed the floor in the Museum of Old Masters, showed a giant middle finger of the Stock Exchange in Milan, brought a living donkey to the Frieze Fair. In the near future, Kattelan promises to establish a golden toilet in the Guggenheim Museum. Ultimately, Maurizio Kattelan's anti-artistic recognition was widely recognized in the art world: he was invited to the Venetian Biennale ("Other" installation in 2011 - a flock of two thousand pigeons, which are growing up from all pipes and beams on the crowds passing at the bottom), arrange His retrospective in the New York Guggenheim Museum (November 2011) and, finally, pay for his sculpture big money.

Since 2010, the most expensive work of Maurizio Kattelan was a wax sculpture of looking out of a hole in the floor of a person, outwardly similar to the artist himself ("Untitled", 2001). This sculpture-installation that exists in the number of three copies plus the author's copy was first demonstrated at the Bummans Museum Wang Bengenna in Rotterdam. Then this mischievous character looked out of the hole in the floor with the pictures of the Dutch painters of the XVIII - XIX centuries. Maurizio Kattelatlan in this work associates himself with a bold criminal, invading the sacred space of the museum hall with the pictures of great masters. Thus, he wants to deprive the art of the haziness of holiness, which the museum walls give him. Work, for the exhibition of which every time you have to sleep, sold for $ 7.922 million on Sotheby's.

The record lasted until May 8, 2016, when an even more provocative work of Kattelan "HIM", depicting the cranked Hitler, left the hammer for $ 17,189 million. The thing is strange. The name is strange. Character selection - risky. Like everything in Kattelan. What does HIM mean? "His" or "His Infernal Majesty"? It is clear that it is definitely not about chanting the image of the Fuhrer. In this work, Hitler appears rather in helpless, miserable. And absurd - the embodiment of Satan is made with an increase from the child, wearing a schoolboy's costume and stands on his knees with a humble expression on his face. For Kattelan, this image is an invitation to think about the nature of absolute evil and a way to get rid of fears. By the way, the Western viewer sculpture "HIM" is well known. Her fellow in the series was exhibited more than 10 times in leading museums of the world, including the Pompidou Center and the Solomon Museum Gugenheim.

15. Mark Grotyan Unnamed (S III Released to France Face 43.14). 2011. $ 16.8 million

On May 17, 2017, one of the most powerful scenic works Mark Grotanna from ever exhibited on a bidding appeared on the evening bidding of Christie's in New York. Picture "Unnamed (S III Released to France Face 43.14)" Paris Collector Patrick Sagin was put up with an estimate of $ 13-16 million, and since the sale of a lot was guaranteed by a third party, the establishment of a new personal auction record of the 49-year-old artist was not particularly surprised . The price of the hammer is $ 14.75 million (and taking into account Buyer's Premium $ 16.8 million) exceeded the former auction record of Grintian more than $ 10 million. This allowed him to enter the club now living artists whose works are sold for eight-digit amounts. The seven-night results (sales are more expensive than $ 1 million, but not more than $ 10 million) in the auction piggy bank, the brand Glyatina is already about thirty.

Mark Grotyan (1968), in whose work experts see the influence of modernism, abstract minimalism, pop and op-art, came to their corporate style in the mid-1990s, after moving along with another Brent Peterson in Los Angeles and opening gallery there "Room 702". As the artist himself remembers, at that time he began to think about what for him in the art in the first place. He was looking for the motive with which it would be possible to experiment. And I realized that he was always interested in line and color. Experiments in the spirit of radiation and minimalism with a linear perspective, numerous points of departure and multicolored abstract triangular shapes in the end brought a glory world glory.

From abstract colorful landscapes with multiple lines of horizon and points of gathering perspective as a result, it came to triangular forms resembling the wings of butterflies. Pictures of Groutyan 2001-2007 So they call - "butterflies". Today, moving the point of the departure or using several points of the gathering diversity, is considered one of the strongest techniques of the artist.

The next big series of works was called "Persons"; In the abstract lines of this series, the features of the human face, simplified to the state of the mask in the spirit of Matisse, Yalevsky or Brankuzy, are guessed. Speaking about the marginal simplification and stylization of forms, about the compositional decision of the paintings, when the scattered eye contours, the mouths seek us from the forest thicket, the researchers celebrate the connection of the "persons" of the groatyan with the art of primitive tribes of Africa and Oceania, while the artist himself simply "like the image Eye looking from jungle. I sometimes imagined the faces of baboons or martyrs. I can not say that consciously or subconsciously I was influenced by primitive African art, rather, artists were influenced by it under his influence. Picasso is the most obvious example. "

The works of the "Persons" series are called brutal and elegant, pleasing eyes and pleasant for the mind. Over time, the texture of these works is changing: to create the effect of the inner space, the artist uses wide strokes of thick paint, even splashing in the style of the midfield, but the surface of the picture is aligned so that it seems absolutely flat with close examination. Established auction record "Untitled (S III Released to France Face 43.14)" refers just to this glorified series Mark Groantia.

16. Takasi Murakami My lonely cowboy. $ 15.16 million

Japanese Takasi Murakami (1962) entered our sculpture rating "My lonely cowboy"sold to Sotheby's in May 2008 for $ 15.16 million. With this sale Takasi Murakami for a long time was considered the most successful now the living Asian artist - while he was not eclipsed by the sale of "Secret Supper" Zeng Fangzhi.

Takasi Murakami works like an artist, sculptor, clothing designer and animator. Murakov wanted to take as the basis of his creativity something really Japanese, without Western and any other borrowing. In his student years, he was fascinated by the traditional Japanese painting of Nihong, later the popular art of Anime and Manga came to replace it. This was born psychedelic MR DOB, patterns of smiling flowers and bright, shiny sculptures from fiberglass, as if just that came from the pages of Japanese comics. Some consider the art of Murakov Fast Food and the incarnation of vulgarity, others call the artist by Japanese Andy Warhol - and in the ranks of the latter, as we see, a lot of very rich people.

Murakami borrowed a name for her sculpture at the film Andy Warhol "Lonely Cowboys" (1968), which Japanese, as he himself admitted, never watched, but he painfully liked the combination of words. Murakov is one sculpture and pleased fans of erotic Japanese comics, and laughed at them. Increased in size, and also three-dimensional, anime hero turns into a fetish mass culture. This artistic statement is quite in the spirit of the classic West Pop Art (remember the furniture headset Allen Jones or the "Pink Panther" Kun), but with a national highlight.

17. Kaws. Kaws album. 2005. $ 14,784 505

Kaws - a pseudonym of the American artist Brian Donalely from New Jersey. He is the youngest participant of our rating, born in 1974. Donelley began an artist-animator in Disney (painted backgrounds for the cartoon "101 Dalmatian", etc.). From youth was fond of graffiti. His corporate drawing initially was a skull with "Iksami" on the place of the eye. The work of the young rayer was loved by show business and people from the fashion industry: he made a cover for the album Kanye West, released Nike, Comme Des Garçons and Uniqlo collaboration. Over time, Kaws became a famous figure in the world of modern art. His branded figurine, resembling Mickey Maus, was accustomed to museums, public spaces and in private collections. Somehow, Kaws released a limited series of vinyl toys together with the MY Plastic Heart brand, and they unexpectedly became the subject of high collective interest. One of the passionate collectors of these "toys" is the founder of Black Star Rapper Timati: he almost completely collected the entire series of Cavatic Companions.

The work of Kaws set a record for artist's creativity - $ 14.7 million - at Sotheby's auction in Hong Kong on April 1, 2019. Previously, she was in the collection of a Japanese fashion designer Nigo. Meter Canvas The Kaws Album - Omage Cover of the famous Album The Beatles "Orchestra Club Lonely Hearts Sergeant Pepper" (SGT. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band) 1967. Only instead of people on it are drawn Kimpsons - the stylized heroes of the Simpsons animated series with "Iksami" instead of eyes.

18. Jin Shani. Tajik Bride. 1983. $ 13.89 million

Among the relatively young and modern Chinese artists who are all as one belong to the so-called "new wave" of the late 1980s in Chinese art, a representative of a completely different generation and another school was completely unexpectedly hit on our rating. Jin Shanya (Jin Shangyi), which is now 80, refers to the bright representatives of the first generation of artists of the Communist China. The views of this group of artists were formed to a large extent influenced by the nearest communist associate - the USSR.

Official Soviet art, socialism, unusual even then for China oil painting (as opposed to traditional Chinese painting) in the 1950s were at the peak of popularity, and in the Beijing Art University for three years (from 1954 to 1957) came to teach the Soviet artist Konstantin Makodievich Maximov. Jin Shani came to him and hit him, who at that time was the youngest in the group. The artist always remembered his teacher with great warmth, said that it was Maximov who taught him to correctly understand and depict the model. K. Mak Maksimov brought a whole Pleiad of Chinese realists, now classics.

In the work of Jin Shani, the influence of both the Soviet "harsh style" and the European School of Painting is felt. A lot of time, the artist devoted to the study of the heritage of Renaissance and classicism, while he considered it necessary to maintain the Chinese spirit in his works. The painting "Tajik Bride", written in 1983, is considered to be a generally accepted masterpiece, a new milestone in the works of Jin Shani. It was put on the China Guardian auction in November 2013 and sold several times more than Estimate - for $ 13.89 million, taking into account the Commission.

19. Banksy decayed parliament. 2008. $ 12.14 million

Wall murals with Tag Banksy began to appear on the walls of the cities (first British, and then throughout the world) in the late 1990s. His philosophical and at the same time sharp graffiti were devoted to the problems of the state of the state to freedom of citizens, crimes against the environment, irresponsible consumption, inhumanity of the illegal migration system. Over time, the walls "reproaches" of Banksy acquired unprecedented media popularity. In fact, he became one of the main expressants of the public opinion, condemning the hypocrisy of states and corporations, which produces increasing injustice in the capitalist system.

The value of the banxi, the feeling of the "nerve of time" and its accuracy of his metaphor was estimated not only by the audience, but also collectors. In 2010, it was given hundreds of thousands for his works, and even more than a million dollars. It came to the point that Banksy graffiti was laid out and stole together with pieces of walls.

In the era of developed digital surveillance, Banksy continues to be preserved anonymity. There is a version that this is more than one person, but a group of several artists, at the head of which is a talented woman. That would explain much. And the external nobility of the riures caught in the lenses of the witnesses cameras, and an impersonal stencil method of application (gives high speed and does not require the direct participation of the author), and the touching romance of the plots of paintings (balls, snowflakes, etc.). No matter how, people from the project of Bankxi, including his assistants, are able to keep their tongue tongue firmly.

In 2019, the most expensive work of Bankxi unexpectedly became the four-meter canvas Devolved Parliament ("degraded", "decomposed" or "transmitting authority" parliament). Chimpanzees arguing in the House of Commons, as if mocking the audience per year of the scandalous Brexit. It's amazing that the picture was written 10 years before this historical turning point, and therefore someone considers it a prophetic. At Sotheby's auction October 3, 2019, during a fierce bargain, an unknown buyer acquired this oil for $ 12,143,000 - six times more expensive.

20. John Carren "Cute and simple." 1999. $ 12.007 million

American artist John Carren (1962)known by its satirical figurative paintings on provocative sexual and social topics. The works of Carren manage to combine the techniques of painting old masters (especially Lucas Kranah senior and mannerists) and Fashion photos from glossy magazines. To achieve a greater grotesque, Carren often distorts the proportions of the human body, increases or reduces its individual parts, depicts heroes in broken, manner poses.

I started carrag in 1989 with portraits of girls perverted from a school album; continued in the early 1990 paintings with bullshitis beauties inspired by photos from Cosmopolitan and Playboy; In 1992, portraits of wealthy elderly ladies appeared; And in 1994, Carren married the sculptor Rachel Finstein, who became his main muse and model for many years. By the end of the 1990s, the technical skills of Carren in combination with Kitchch and Grotesque his paintings brought him popularity. In 2003, Larry Gagosyan was taken for the promotion of the artist, and if such a dealer is taken by the author, as Gagosyan is taken, then success is guaranteed. In 2004, a retrospective of John Carren in the Whitney Museum took place.

At about this time, it began to be sold for six-digit amounts. The current record for John Carrena painting belongs to the work "cute and simply", sold on November 15, 2016 at Christie's for $ 12 million. A picture with two naked with difficulty overcame the lower line of estimate $ 12-18 million and nevertheless, for John Carren, who Now for 50, this is definitely a breakthrough in his career. His former record of 2008 was $ 5.5 million (paid, by the way, for the same work "cute and simple").

21. Bryce Marden The Attended. 1996-1999. $ 10,917 million

Another now living American abstractionist in our ranking is Bryce Marden (1938). Marden's work in the style of minimalism, and from the late 1980s - gesticular painting, stand out of a unique authentic, slightly muted palette. The combination of flowers on the works of Marden is inspired by his travels around the world - Greece, India, Thailand, Sri Lanka. Among the authors who influenced Marden's formation - Jackson Pollock (in the early 1960s, Mardard worked as a security guard in the Jewish Museum, where herself watched the "Jrippings" of Pollock), Alberto Dzhacometti (met his works in Paris) and Robert Raushenberg (some Time Marden worked as his assistant). The first stage of Marden's creativity is given to classic minimalist canvases consisting of colored rectangular blocks (horizontal or vertical). Unlike many other minimalists who achieved the perfect quality of works, as if printed by a machine, and not painted by a person, Marden kept traces of the artist, combined different materials (wax and oil paints). Since the mid-1980s, under the influence of Eastern calligraphy, winding, meandropod-like lines came to replace the geometric abstraction, the background for which all the same monochrome color fields served. One of these "Meandrovaya" works - "The Attended" - at Sotheby "S in November 2013 was sold for $ 10.917 million, taking into account the Commission.

22. Pierre Sulazh PEINTURE 186 x 143 CM, 23 DÉCEMBRE 1959. $ 10.6 million

23. Zhang Xiaogan Eternal love. $ 10.2 million

Another representative of Chinese Contemporary Art - Symbolist and Surrealist Zhang Xiaogan (1958). At Sotheby's auction in Hong Kong April 3, 2011where Chinese avant-garde from the Collection of Belgian Baroni Gi Ullensa, Triptych Zhang Syogan "Eternal love" was sold for $ 10.2 million. At that time, it was a record not only for the artist, but also for the whole Chinese Controno Art. It is said that the work of Xoyogana bought the wife of a billionaire Van Wei (Wang Wei), which is going to open his own museum.

Zhang Xiaogan, who fonds by mysticism and Eastern philosophy, wrote the story of "Eternal Love" in three parts - life, death and revival. This triptych participated in the cultural exhibition in 1989 "China / Avangard" at the National Art Museum. In the same year 1989, student demonstrations were cruelly embedded in the Tiananmen Square. Following this tragic event, the twisting of the nuts began - the exhibition in the National Museum was dispersed, many artists emigrated. In response, a cynical realism, one of the main representatives of which became Zhang Xiaogan, arose in response from top to the socialism.

24. Bruce Nauman Helpless Henry Moore. 1967. $ 9.9 million

American Bruce Nauman (1941), owner of the main prize 48 Venetian Biennale (1999), went for a long time to his record. Nauman began his career in the sixties. The experts call him, along with Andy Warhol and Joseph Boys, one of the most influential figures in the art of the second half of the twentieth century. However, the saturated intellectuality and the absolute non-disgravity of some of his work obviously prevented its rapid recognition and success in the general public. Nauman often experiments with the tongue, opening the unexpected meanings of the usual phrases. Words become central characters of many of his works, including neon pseudovskys and panels. Nauman himself calls himself a sculptor, although in the last forty years he tried himself in absolutely different genres - sculpture, photographs, videoart, performances, graphics. At the beginning of the nineties, Larry Gagosyan said prophetic words: "The real value of the works of Naisan is still to be realized." So it came out: May 17, 2001 on christie's work of Naughn 1967 "Helpless Henry Moore (rear view)" Henry Moore Bound to Fail (Backview) put a new record in the segment of post-war art. Made of gypsum and wax of the cast behind the back of the hands of Nauman went with a hammer for $ 9.9 million To the collection of French magnate Francois Pinot (according to other data, American Phillies Wattis). Estimate work was only $ 2-3 million, so the result was for all a real surprise.

Before this legendary sale, only two works of Nauman crossed the bar in a million dollars. And in all his auction career, only six works, in addition to Henry Mura, left for seven-dollar amounts, but their results still do not go to any comparison with nine million.

"The helpless Henry Moore" is one of the series of polemical works of Naughn about the figure of Henry Mura (1898-1986), the British artist, whose sixties relate to the greatest sculptors of the twentieth century. Young authors who were in the shadow of a recognized master, then attacked him with a shroud criticism. The work is Nauman - the answer to this criticism and at the same time reflecting on the topic of creativity. The name of the work becomes a pun, as it connects the two meanings of the English word Bound - connected (literally) and doomed to some kind of fate.

The art of modern painting is works created at present or in the nearby past. A certain number of years will pass, and these pictures will be the property of history. The works of painting, created in the period since the 60s of the last century and to this day, reflect several directions of modern art, which can be attributed to the category of postmodernism. At the time of modernity, the work of painting artists was presented wider, and in the 70s of the twentieth century there was a change in the social orientation of painting art.

Actual art

Artists of modern painting are primarily new trends in visual creativity. In cultural terminology, there is the concept of "current art", which is related to something with the concept of "modern painting". Under the art, artists most often mean innovation when the painter appeals to the themes of ultra-modern, regardless of their direction. The picture can be written in and depict any industrial enterprise. Or on the canvas there is a landscape landscape with a wheat field, a meadow, forest, but at the same time the combine will certainly be drawn. Modern painting style involves the social orientation of the picture. At the same time, the landscapes of modern artists without a social subtext are valued much higher.

Selecting direction

Since the end of the 90s, artists of modern painting refuse production themes and translate their creativity in the direction of pure fine art. There are masters of fine portrait painting, landscape plots, still lifes in the style of the Flemish drawing. And gradually in modern painting, genuine art began to manifest itself, without inferior to the paintings created by the outstanding artists of the 18th and 19th centuries, and in something even superior to them. Today's masters of the brush helps a developed technical base, an abundance of new funds that allow fully reflected on canvas. Thus, artists of modern painting can create as their abilities. Of course, the quality of paints or brushes is important in the process of writing pictures, but the main thing is talent.

Abstract expressionism

Modern artists adhere to painting methods that allow the use of non-geometric strokes applied in a variety of large-size cloth. There are big brushes, sometimes painted. This painting is difficult to call art in the classic meaning of this word, but the abstraction is the continuation of surrealism, which appeared in 1920 due to the ideas of Andre Breton and immediately found a lot of followers, such as Salvator Dali, Hans Hofman, Adolf Gotlib. At the same time, artists of modern painting understand expressionism in their own way. Today, this genre differs from its predecessor to the size of the canvas, which can reach three meter.

Pop Art

Abstracted abstractionism was a conceptual new avant-garde, promoting aesthetic values. Modern artists began to include images of famous personalities in their paintings, such as Mao Zedong or Marilyn Monroe. This art was called Pop Art - a popular, generally accepted direction in painting. The mass culture came to replace abstractionism and gave rise to a special type of aesthetics, which in a colorful, spectacular manner presented to the public what was at all on hearing, some events of recent or image of well-known people in different life situations.

The founders and followers of pop art were Andy Warhol, Tom Vesselman, Peter Blake, Roy Liechtenstein.

Photorealism

Modern art is multifaceted, it is often a new direction that combines two or more species of visual creativity. Such a form of self-expression of the artist became photorealism. This direction in painting appeared in the United States in 1968. He was invented by the artist-avant-gardeist Louis Meizel, and the presentation of the genre occurred two years later, in the museum of Whitney during the exhibition "Twenty-two Realist".

Painting in the style of photorealism is associated with a photo, the movement of the object seems to be frozen in time. The photorealist artist collects his image that will be captured in the picture, with the help of photos. From the negative or slide, the image is transferred to the canvas by projection or using a large-scale grid. Then a full-fledged picture is created using painting technologies.

The flourishing photorealism fell on the mid-70s, then there was a decline in popularity, and in the early 90s the genre was reborn again. Mastic artists worked mainly in the United States, there were many sculptors among them, which also created their works using the image projection. The most famous masters of painting based on photorealism is Richard Estes, Charles Bellet, Thomas Blackwell, Robert Desekis, Donald Eddie, Duyne Hanson.

Artist-photorealists of the young generation - Raphaella Spence, Roberto Bernardi, Chiara Albertoni, Tony Brunelli, Olivier Romano, Bertrand Meniel, Clive Had.

Lupanov's paintings are completely devoid of contrasting combinations of colors, the images do one to another. The artist himself calls his work "Merry, irresponsible Mazni", but in this statement there is a share of coquetry: paintings are actually written quite professionally.

Russian artists drawing in the style of nude

  • Sergey Marchnikov (born 1971), one of the most famous Russian artists of modernity. He graduated from the Ufa College of Arts. His paintings are an example of blatant realism. Works make an impression of an art photograph, the composition is so accurate and removed each touch. • Vera Vasilyevna Donskoy-Khilko (born 1964), granddaughter of the famous opera singer of Laurentia Dmitrievich Donskoy. The brightest representative of modern Russian painting. Draws in the style of a story nude. The artist draws a lot and talented.

Modern artists of Russia, their creativity are increasingly interested in connoisseurs of elegant arts worldwide.

Modern painting as world art

Currently, the visual creativity took shapes other than those who were in demand in the 18th and 19th centuries. Modern artists of the world turned to the avant-garde in a narrower interpretation, the canvas acquired refinement and became more meaningful. Society today needs art updated, the need applies to all types of creativity, including painting. Pictures of modern artists, if they are performed at a sufficiently high level, are bought out, become the subject of bargaining or exchange. Some canvases are included in the lists of particularly valuable works of art. The paintings from the past, written by great painters, are still in demand, but contemporary artists are becoming increasingly popular. Oil, tempera, watercolor, other paints, help them in creativity and successful implementation of conceived. Paints, as a rule, adhere to some one style. It may be landscape, portrait, battle scenes or other genre. Accordingly, for his work, the artist chooses a certain variety of paints.

Modern artists of the world

The most famous modern artists differ in the manner of the letter, their brush recognizable, sometimes do not even need to look at the signature at the bottom of the canvas. Famous Masters of Modern Painting - Perlshin Philip, Alexander Isachev, Francis Bacon, Stanislav Plutenko, Peter Blake, Freud Lucien, Michael Paris, Guy Johnson, Eric Physle, Nikolai Blokhin, Vasily Shulzhenko.

THE ART NEWSPAPER RUSSIArepresents the rating: the most expensive artists of Russia from now living. If you are still confident that there were no Russian artists in the western foundation, we are ready to argue with it. Language numbers.

The conditions were simple: each of the living artists could be represented only by one, the most expensive work. In the preparation of the rating, not only the results of public auction trading, but the most high-tech private sales were taken into account. The authors of the rating were guided by the principle "If something loudly is sold, it means that someone needs it," and therefore appreciated the work of marketers and press managers of artists who have made record private sales to the public. Important note: the rating is compiled exclusively by financial indicators; If he was based on the exhibition activity of artists, it would look somewhat different. External sources for analytics served resources ArtNet.com, ArtPrice.com, Skatepress.comand ARTINVESTMENT.RU..

The currency of the world ranking was chosen by the US dollar, the British pound sterling was taken as the equivalent of sales of Russian artists (since 90% of domestic sales took place in London in this currency). The remaining 10% of the works sold in US dollars and the euro, at the rate at the time of the transaction, as a result of which some positions changed the place. In addition to the actual cost of the work, data were collected about the overall capitalization of artists (the number of top work sold at all years), about the place of a modern artist in the ranking of artists of all times, about the place of the participant's dear job among all the works of other authors, and Also about nationality and country of residence. Important information contains statistics of repeated sales of each artist as an objective investment indicator
Attractiveness.

The last year, 2013 significantly changed the position of modern artists in the international sales rank. From the top 50 most expensive works of art last season, 16 modern was sold - a record number (for comparison, 17 works took from 2010 to 2012, in the twentieth century there are only one sale). The demand for living artists is identical in part in demand for all contemporary art, partly a cynical understanding that the capitalization of assets after their death will invariably increase.

Among Russian participants the most respects were brothers Sergey and Alexey Tkachevy (r. 1922 and 1925), the youngest - Anatoly Osmolovsky (r. 1969). The question of who will become new Jean-Michel Baskia, while open. In sales of our artists, clear classes of buyers are visible: the leaders buy foreign collectors and Russian oligarchs, places from the 10th to the 30th provide emigrant collectors, and the conditional bottom Top-50 is our future, which came to the market young collectors with "new »Money.

Sales VS Exhibitions

The recognition of the market and recognition of the professional community to many seems to be different things, but dividing on the "commercial" and "non-commercial" artists is very conditional. So, from Russian artists who have exhibited in the last ten years in the Venetian Biennale of Contemporary Art (and this is the top of a professional career), seven units (if you consider personnel, then 11 people) fell into our rating. And the top 10 artists from the rating or exhibited on Biennale in Venice earlier, or had personal exhibitions in large museums. As for those wonderful masters, who did not fall into the rating, their absence or not too outstanding sales are explained simply and trite. Collectors are conservative and even in the most avant-garde creators prefer to buy paintings (paintings, similar to the pictures of objects or photographs) or sculpture (or objects similar to the sculpture). In our ranking there are no record performances or giant installations (installations usually buy museums, but also the price there is a museum, with a discount). That is why these stars did not fall into the rating like Andrei Monastic, Oleg Kulik, Pavel Peprestein(until recently did mostly schedule, and the graphics of a priori are cheaper than painting) or, for example, Nikolai PolisskyAt whose grand constructions did not find so far understanding collectors.

In addition, the market is conservative also because the recognition comes slowly - note that in the TOP-10, all artists are not younger than born in 1950. That is, the prospective participants of Biennale is still ahead.
