Previously, no one did this, including the Marinki team. But for the sake of Prokofiev, I am ready to become a marathon ...

By the way, for the first time the music of Sergey Sergeyevich sounded in our theater smooth eyelid. In 1916, the premiere of "Scythian Suite" was held, and the author was behind the conductor console.

- No, not because of geographic coincidences. It seems to me that Sergey Sergeevich heard music through the spectrum of light, bright rays. Nevertheless, the incredible energy charge of Prokofiev gives the Sun in it, and not darkness.

When did you discover it for yourself?

- Very early. I was ten years old, I just started learning to play the piano, and my first teacher Zarema Llalaeva gave me a task to descend a short pre-minor etude Sergey Sergeevich. Of course, I had no idea who he was. I generally understood little, but that etude played with a special feeling and mood. Before that, I was taken for the Sonatas of Mozart, Bach Invention, but the emotions were completely different. And the music of Prokofiev is a bold, tart! He suddenly woke in me inner excitement, hooked and still he does not let go.

It so happened that I was debuted in January 1978 as a conductor in Kirovsky at the same time with Opera Sergei Sergeevich "War and Peace".

By 1991, when the century was celebrated from the birth of Prokofiev, I was already elected the chief conductor of the theater. It must be remembered what it was during: we started a year in one country, and ended in another. The Soviet Union ordered a long time to live, the old world collapsed, the new one was born. Nevertheless, in the 91st, we played the premieres of the three operas of Sergei Sergeevich, two of which - the "player" and the "Fire Angel" - went on our scene for the first time, and the "love for three oranges" was not shown in Leningrad since 1926.
