From 20 to 24 November on the stage of the GITIS-Theater, at the numerous requests of the audience, the "U Mosta" theater will again show the already beloved performances "Pannochka", "Executioners", "The cripple from Inishmana", "At the bottom". And also for the first time in Moscow the play "Zoykina's apartment".

"PANNOCHKA", N. Sadur. It is the hallmark of the theater. It was after this production in 1990 that the theater was called mystical and was recognized as the discoverer of the other world on stage. The performance is completely unique in its style. The quiet idyll of the Ukrainian evening gives way to the icy nightmare of the accursed church, the merry Cossack feast turns into the night sabbath of the witch and the dark forces. The auditorium then shakes with Homeric laughter, then freezes with horror, then shudders from surprise. But behind the funny and frightening jokes hides a deep meaning of human self-sacrifice, and at the end of the performance, the viewer invariably overtakes catharsis.

"TORNEYS", M. McDonagh. RUSSIAN PREMIERE! The long-awaited eighth play by the legendary Irish playwright M. McDonagh, opened to the Russian public by the U Mosta Theater. Harry is Britain's number two executioner. And he has his own comments on this matter. The executioners are not soulless killers. They have their own ethics and respect for the sentenced person. And your humor. What should the executioner do on the day the death penalty is abolished? All that remains is to open your own pub and remember the deeds of the past. After all, there are miscarriages of justice. And then there is the envy and resentment of your own assistants. But what if you are the victim of a conspiracy? And what if the life of your own daughter is at stake? Black humor and unpredictable plot combined with deep spirituality, love for a person and pain for him. Justice be done!

"KALEKA S INISHMANA", M. McDonagh. In 2010, the performance won the GOLDEN MASK National Prize. The theater managed to embody McDonagh's strange, funny and touching story as truly Irish, boldly and cheerfully to compose their heroes as if the Perm actors themselves lived through the entire history of Ireland, as if they absorbed it through crazy riverdance and lyrical Irish ballads. Inishman Island is one of the most mysterious and sacred places in Ireland. The unhurried world of strange and funny Inishman freaks literally explodes when a film crew from America arrives on a neighboring island. Inishmans are visited by ghostly and dangerous dreams of Hollywood, after which many want to sail away. But it turns out only with crippled Billy ...

"ZOYKINA APARTMENT", M. Bulgakov. A bright, virtuoso, mystical comedy, the heroes of which build a house of cards of hopes, and it collapses under the onslaught of real circumstances. And although the action takes place almost a century ago (after the revolution, during the NEP), the play remains sharp

modern. The enterprising Zoya Denisovna organizes an underground brothel in her apartment, hiding behind the opening of a fashion studio. A sewing workshop during the day, a brothel at night. Zoya enjoys the patronage of a very influential person - the commercial director of the trust Boris Semenovich Gus. Chinese drug addicts set up an underground cocaine syndicate in the basement of a laundry room and rub into Zoya's trust. During the peak of success, the Chinese rob, kill and disappear with money. Dark forces ominously circle around in the form of strangers from the GPU.

"AT THE BOTTOM", M. Gorky. The performance is the winner of the GRAND PRIX of the festival "GOLDEN VITYAZ" -2014. The main shock from the performance is the same Gorky flophouse, reproduced by Sergei Fedotov with his inherent thoroughness of working out all the details. Old photographs seem to “come to life”, the actors do not play, they really live on the stage, they don’t even live, they perform sacred acts, hypnotize, involve in a “spiritualistic” session, drag the viewer into another magical space. Only U Most artists can play this way. The wonderful and subtle play of the actors from the very first minutes draws you into the most authentic atmosphere of a flophouse. The performance amazes with bold discoveries, unexpected solutions of images and evokes very bright feelings. Because all these “former people” forgotten by God also believe in their dreams, they also joke around, have fun and rejoice at any opportunity of happiness.

Widely known in Europe, the world's only mystical Theater "Near the Bridge" - three times Nominee and Laureate of the National Prize "GOLDEN MASK" GRAND PRIX winner of the XII International Theater Forum "GOLDEN VITYAZ", winner of 40 GRAND PRIX of foreign festivals, Champion of the Indian Theater Olympics, participant of 161 international festivals, included in the rating of FORBES magazine in the top ten best theaters in Russia. According to the Yell.ru portal, the U Mosta Theater ranks fourth in the rating of the best Russian theaters. The theater has toured in India, Egypt, Austria, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Ukraine, Belarus, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania, Georgia, Turkey , in many cities of Russia.

Many people know the unique theater "Near the Bridge" (Perm). Its originality and unusual performances, combined with its appearance, attract the audience. In addition, a very unusual person is at the head of the troupe and the entire institution.

Historical information about the theater

In 1988, the At the Bridge Theater opened its doors to its first visitors. This institution is very young, but has already managed to gain popularity and fame among a wide range of spectators.

The originality of the theater lies in its genre. As planned by S.P. Fedotov, the permanent artistic director, only mystical performances are staged here. It all started with a small circle of enthusiastic young people, where Fedotov and his colleagues tried a new style of play.

The plays so attracted the viewer that a full-fledged theater was formed from a small circle, which was located in the building of the Palace of Culture of the Perm Plant. The performances were held in his small hall. The premiere performance took place on October 7, 1988, so this date is considered the official birthday of the mystical theater.

First performances

In connection with the chosen genre and manner of playing, the repertoire is selected special, but classic. Thus, the play by N. Gogol "The Marriage" was chosen for the premiere. The audience was struck by the world of secrets and mysticism that enveloped the hall while watching.

Theater "U the Bridge" (Perm) is famous for its magical halo. Fame not only to the viewer, but also in acting circles brought him a whole cycle, staged based on the works of N. Gogol. The performances based on the plays by Bulgakov and Dostoevsky helped to penetrate the human soul and the original acting of the actors.

Founder of an unusual theater

At the head is not just a person who decided to devote his life to art. Sergey Pavlovich Fedotov is a laureate of the Golden Mask Prize. He deservedly deserved the title of the best stage director of the play "Heart of a Dog", which was a success in the Czech Republic. Fedotov became not only the best director, but also the first among foreigners who received such a prestigious award in this country, which is critical of artists.

Sergey Pavlovich is a native Permian. In his hometown, he studied acting, graduated from the directing department of the Institute of Art and Culture. Now his theater is known far beyond the city and even the country. Spectators from different parts of Russia come to watch unusual performances. All performances are distinguished by originality, brightness and characteristic vision of the director.

Mystical director

Fedotov literally involves the viewer in his performances. He instills in his wards a new manner of playing on stage, mysticism reigns in the hall. Thanks to originality, sometimes grotesque and paradox, actors and spectators are completely immersed in the other world.

Despite the mystery, the troupe has a diverse repertoire. At the Bridge Theater (Perm) shows tragedies and comedies, parables and even detective stories. But one thing in the performances is invariable - it is mysticism, mystery and inspirational play with sometimes absurd innovations.

Perhaps to some, the performances will seem incredible or have nothing to do with reality. But this is the position of their director, and Sergei Pavlovich Fedotov does not want to switch to classical adaptations of immortal works. But all sorts of awards at international festivals prove that the new vision deserves attention, and the full halls speak of an exciting action that must be watched and given your own assessment of what you see.

Theater performances

Not only works of Russian classics are included in the repertoire of the U Mosta Theater (Perm). The playbill includes both the best classical foreign plays and examples of contemporary art. It is especially interesting to watch performances that combine different genres. How the leader succeeds is a mystery, but premieres always take place with a full hall.

The theater is an innovator not only in the way of acting and mystical productions. The actors, together with the director, were the first who decided to show the performances of M. McDonagh, a writer from Ireland, who has an unusual vision of his books. It was for staging the play based on his novel "Cripple s Inishmana" that the troupe received the "Golden Mask" prize. Now the repertoire includes many performances, and the U Mosta Theater (Perm) is proud of all of them.

The poster invites viewers to choose the performance that is closest in spirit or plunge into the world of completely absurd works, including:

  1. The Master and Margarita is a completely new vision of Bulgakov's novel.
  2. "Pannochka" - based on Gogol's story "Viy".
  3. "Pillow Man" - based on the book by the Irish writer McDonagh.
  4. "Quasimodo" - based on the work of Hugo.
  5. "Juno and Avos" is an unusual production of a rock opera.
  6. The Skull of Connemara is McDonagh's dark comedy.
  7. "Beauty and Leanne" is a gloomy comedy by an Irish author.
  8. Heart of a Dog is a comedy based on Bulgakov.
  9. "Smell" - R. Familiari.
  10. "The Castle" - F. Kafka.
  11. "Dracula" - B. Stoker.
  12. “Thirty-three fainting” - A. Chekhov.
  13. "The Star and Death of H. Murieta" is a rock opera by Voznesensky and Rybnikov.

As can be seen from the productions, the director fully adheres to a special repertoire and supports the mysticism of the performances not only by acting, but also by well-chosen works.

Premiere of "Khanuma"

The theater "At the Bridge" (Perm) pleases with many premieres. "Khanuma" was no exception and gathered a full hall of curious spectators. The unusual feature of Fedotov's performances is that the action begins from the foyer. The same is the case with the production of "Khanuma", where the visitors are greeted by actors performing a mountain dance. You can even drink some wine from the hands of a beautiful Georgian woman.

The performance includes many colorful dances staged by the choreographer Muss Tulparov. And contact with the audience helped to establish incendiary lezginka and witty jokes.

The value of the production is not only in its unusual manner of presentation, but also in the message that the work gives. Here is the absurdity of venerating the highest ranks, and the power of wealth, as well as the passage of a parable, which puts everything in its place.

It is better to buy tickets to the U Mosta Theater (Perm) for the premiere in advance on the official website, because the hall is always full, and Khanuma has been sold out more than once.

Popular "Pannochka"

Every troupe has its own favorite performances, which are popular with the audience and especially revered by the actors. Among the diverse repertoire of the theater "Near the Bridge" (Perm), the play "Pannochka" is especially honored. The director and his charges turned the play into a real mystical action.

This performance is the face of the theater and its hallmark. The screenwriter was Nina Sadur, and the director was the constant Sergei Pavlovich Fedotov.

The performance turned out to be the decisive factor after which the institution became firmly associated with a mystical object, and the theater was recognized the right to be the discoverer of the other world with the help of acting and the art of directing.

The peculiarity of the production is in its style. Here comedy, horror and philosophical plot are surprisingly intertwined. The involvement of the viewer in the actors' play is built on contrast. Literally now they are laughing, but now they freeze with fear and then shudder from unexpected things.

The success and popularity of the production are associated with jokes that are not only funny, but also have a philosophical meaning. Despite the fact that the performance was presented to the audience more than twenty years ago, interest in it does not disappear. Visitors who have not watched the play for the first time find everything new and new in a deep sense of the plot.

The acting is simply incomparable. The artists delve into the images of their heroes so much that the viewer literally finds himself inside the other world and feels on himself what it is like to own secret knowledge.

Ticket prices

Sometimes, in order to make a decision to attend a performance, you need to study the reviews of those who have already watched the play about it. The uniqueness of the establishment imposes certain restrictions, so it is important to know the opinions of visitors before purchasing tickets to the U Mosta Theater (Perm). Prices depend on the production and the premises where the performance is shown (small or large hall).

If you look at the statistics, the cheapest tickets start at 400 rubles. Premiere and most popular performances can cost 2,000 rubles, but this is only in the forefront. Farther seats are cheaper.

The Authors' Theater "U Mosta", created in 1988 by Sergei Fedotov, literally blew up the theatrical situation in Perm with bright, non-standard performances. Initially, the theater received its name due to its proximity to the Kamsky Bridge, but gradually the phrase Theater "At the Bridge" becomes a sign that expresses its artistic concept. Fedotov's performances are, in fact, a bridge between the real and the otherworldly, everyday and mystical, conscious and intuitive.

The uniqueness of the artistic method of the theater "At the Bridge" is that it is aimed at developing the traditions of the great Russian psychological theater, enriched with the discoveries of the schools of Mikhail Chekhov and Jerzy Grotowski, that is, systems aimed at developing the psychophysics of an actor, his ability to work with internal energy and his subconscious ...

It is no coincidence that the Theater to express its own aesthetics came up with a slogan: "At the Bridge" - the Mystical Theater, in which everything is real, and the Real Theater, where everything is Mystic.

Mysticism in this case becomes a metaphor for the artistic method, the purpose of which is to find ways to embody on the stage the deep, invisible, related to the sphere of the human subconscious.

The mystical world in the "U Mosta" theater is largely created thanks to special literary preferences. The main circle of authors, one way or another, is associated with mysticism (N. Gogol, M. Bulgakov, F. Dostoevsky, W. Shakespeare, B. Stoker). And most importantly, in this theater, they do not limit themselves to staging one play by the author, most often trilogies or even cycles appear. This approach opens up the opportunity to thoroughly explore and penetrate into the very essence of the author's world, the author's unique logic with all its paradoxes and riddles.

The U Mosta Theater is the pioneer in Russia of the Irish playwright Martin McDonagh. The play "Lonely West" was shown in Moscow at the "Golden Mask-2008" festival among the best performances in Russia. And in 2010 the theater became the Laureate of the "Golden Mask" for the play "Cripple from Inishman". Anatoly Smelyansky, Chairman of the Jury, Rector of the Moscow Art Theater School named after A.P. Chekhova, a professor, presenting the award to Sergei Fedotov at the ceremony, said that he was actually giving a very special prize: “The First Special Jury Prize is awarded to the Perm Theater“ U Mosta ”, a theater founded and hosted by Sergei Fedotov for 22 years. This is a theater with an amazing repertoire, a theater that has been studying Russian and world classics for two decades, staging the most complex plays of the world repertoire and presenting not only an excellent repertoire, but also wonderful actors. This Theater is an Artistic Phenomenon, this is a certain Lighthouse, this is the Support of the Russian psychological theater. "

S. Fedotov's author's theater managed to take part in 162 theater festivals. Has toured in India, Austria, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Egypt, Kosovo, Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia, Estonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Slovakia, Hungary, Georgia, Turkey in many cities of Russia and the near abroad: Moscow, Sochi , Kuznetsk, St. Petersburg, Minsk, Riga, Tallinn, Prague, Hradets-Kralove, Kiev, Nikolaev, Sevastopol, Lvov, Nalchik, Yekaterinburg, Omsk, Chelyabinsk and many others.

"The Armless One from Spokane", "By the Bridge" Theater, 11/28/2019

There are theaters where I go on tour whenever possible. This, recently, is a performance by the Perm theater "U Mosta" - having gone once to "At the bottom", I fell in love with them completely and irrevocably. And I can say that this is the theater where I would have watched the ENTIRE repertoire, and there are not many of them.

"The Armless One from Spokane", staged by the theater in cooperation with the Moscow production center Slavskaya Production, surprises from the first seconds with traditionally believable (as always) decorations: it is as if we are in a real room of an ordinary American hotel.

The intrigue hangs right away: a creepy one-armed bald man Carmichael (Vladimir Bolshov) keeps a black guy Toby (Ivan Ivanovich) locked in a closet, and a dull blonde Marilyn (Yaroslava Slavskaya) brings him ... a severed hand. The fact is that Carmichael has been looking for his hand for more than a quarter of a century, which was cut off by cattle guys for him in childhood - they forcibly pressed his hand to the rails when the train passed by. And then the freaks waved their severed hand at him. In any case, so says Carmichael, who hunts them, devoting their whole life to revenge.

In town, he meets Toby, a marijuana dealer, and his girlfriend Marilyn, and they promise to get his hand. But the price for deception is terrible ... Carmichael is a real psychopathic killer with a subtle soul. He carries with him a suitcase of severed hands, is ready to easily shoot a person, pour kerosene and set fire to deceivers, but at the same time he dearly loves his dear mother and is imbued with sympathy for gibbons.

It is impossible not to tell about the true star of the performance - the hotel porter-not-porter Marvin (Ilya Glinnikov from Interns). He is a kind of Moriarty of this town, a devil who mocks people, incredibly plastic, malicious, and also seemingly abnormal. It is not known who should be feared more, him or Carmichael - from that at least it is clear what to expect. And this one? Traitor or not? What are his interests? Why is he taking revenge on Tony? And why does he seem to "run up" to be killed?

The performance keeps you in suspense from the first to the last minute, it has intrigue, psychology, and a lot of funny to tears jokes. In two and a half hours, we have a talented story unfolds before us, which will be a turning point for all four of its participants. The end is either open or unambiguous ... but I want to believe that Carmichael just left. After all, he still deserved a little happiness and peace.

"The Armless One of Spokane".
So, what worries us here and now:

And then - what would Sei Shonagon (Princess Marya Aleksevna) say about this.
I think I would still take the play about the Armless Man from Spokane to the chapter
Spectacles worthy of attention
But this is in general, and in particular, for us, theatrical spectators and amateurs, at first I want to understand why this production is Perm?
If the actors, all four are from Moscow.
For example, Vladimir Bolshov - Carmichael (Satyricon)
In the course of the case and the plot, he is a reckless criminal, a racist and a little (slightly) a maniac, once a victim, and now, in a coat like Monte Cristo, with a pistol in one remaining, but dexterous hand, carries out a general investigation of his life, but without much luck.
Oh, poor thing!
Outwardly, everything is the same: big growth, square skull, thin voice. And boring.
In the process of telephone conversations with Carmichael's mother, it suddenly becomes clear that the root of evil lies in her. After all, he, armless from Spokane, is simply quick-tempered, and loves his mother, and appreciates black women, knows how to see beauty and sexuality in them.
Whereas in Marilyn, a stupid blonde trapped in an awkward situation, she does not see the sale of a false hand.
Although Marilyn plays Yaroslav Slavskaya, her legs are impressively long, her eyes are green, an emerald of clear water. That's what I would understand.
Ivan Ivanovich - Toby, her black boyfriend, from the Roman Viktyuk theater, but oddly enough, he just understands. Cowardly cute.
All three participants in the criminal deal were completely overshadowed by the receptionist
Ilya Glinnikov - Mervin
He just came out with his chin lifted, and he began to joke
"I see a shadow from your feet, sir" (humor)
Then he danced from the candle stove (drive and plastic)
Annealed a psycho monologue (from the word psychological) about a gibbon friend
And finally, he saved everyone in the easy
Guys. You are great, the quartet was good
And respect has been shown to the text, in the sense that no one abbreviated it.
The author of the play is a cocky fellow, popular, and everyone knows his name: Martin McDonagh.
He - of course, they write everywhere - an Irishman, born in London, in a proletarian family (a builder and a cleaning lady), and plays at the Royal Theater of his authorship are going on, but we feel different in him
Close-dear-dear
He could well be from Perm, such a Perm - salty ears,
severed arms, crooked legs, hot heart, tinned stomach, windy head.
So all this captivates us and charms us in advance - black humor, and bad character, and small (rat) beautiful eyes, and ram's forehead (cool).
Thanks
We like everything so much
Something that looks scary
What seems pretentious and vulgar
What makes the heart shrink
What touches
What makes you feel creepy
The director of this whole affair is Sergei Fedotov, the creator of the "mystical theater" Near the bridge, here he is, it seems, from Perm, the city of northern ballet, wooden sculptures, Motovilikha and everyday madness.
They write that the director in his work combines the traditions of the Russian theater school with avant-garde and experiment.
I'll fix the glasses on my nose and say - I don't believe
Excuse me.
The Bezruk lacked the avant-garde and lacked experiment.
This is an old Russian theater school with rich decorations. Not even a super-conservative grandmother will be disheveled here.
Against.
All this tragic vanity is exactly what makes the heart beat faster.

The Armless One from Spokane takes place in a hotel room in real time. Actually, therefore, it seems that you are not sitting in the audience room, but looking through the keyhole at what is happening in the room next door. And something strange is happening there. Who is this tear-stained but charming blonde chained to a radiator? What is the black guy next to her? Oh, that begins to smell fried, and in the literal sense: there is a canister of gasoline on the table, the cork of which is played by a burning candle. A little more and it will blaze so that it will not seem a little! And here is the strange receptionist in his funny form. He, of course, is a talented fellow, his dance with acrobatic elements is worth a lot! But why doesn't he put out the candle, because he himself serves in this hotel? And what kind of mountain man with a shaved head and one hand in a black glove climbs the fire escape and is about to climb through the window? And what's on the carpet? Severed hands?

Yes, that’s how it will be. There are only 4 heroes in the play. This is Carmichael, who has been looking for his severed hand for 27 years, Toby, who usually sells marijuana, and then unfortunately decided to sell Carmichael the upper limb of an aboriginal from the museum, Toby's girlfriend Marilyn, a naive, sincere and generally kind girl , and Marvin, the receptionist, who clearly deserves more than a job at the front desk.

Surprisingly, leaving the theater after the performance, the heroes of which are completely reckless thugs and criminals, the viewer feels that he has become better. Oddly enough, McDonagh helps us better understand our neighbors. Yes, yes, and this Toby, who is ready to take the risk to get 500 bucks and take her girlfriend somewhere, and Carmichael's seemingly crazy mother, who does not call the ambulance with a broken leg, but studies her son's porn magazines with enthusiasm. We are all human, we are all different, we all need warmth.

Minuses.
At first, I noticed two oddities in the plot, which I was going to tell the readers about. But, as it turned out, this is not a bug, but a feature, that is, it was made on purpose and beaten. So I did not find any disadvantages as such. A good performance, we must take it. The play is well written, the direction is above all praise, the scenery is great, and the actors do not act, but in fact live the life of their characters.

Cast:
Carmichael - Vladimir Bolshov (theater and film actor, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, actor of the Satyricon Theater)
Marvin - Ilya Glinnikov (theater, film and television actor; best known for the TV series "Interns")
Toby - Ivan Ivanovich (actor of the Roman Viktyuk Theater)
Marilyn - Yaroslava Slavskaya (theater and film actress)

Directing and scenography - Sergey Fedotov

The play was staged by the production center Slavskaya Production together with the U Mosta Theater.

Somehow, I do not go well with a visit to the Perm theater "At the Most" - and they often come to Moscow, and they show a lot of performances, but they still do not coincide with my schedule. Finally last week I got to the Teatrium for the play "The Armless from Spokane", and even then it did not quite work out perfectly. The play was actually staged by Sergei Fedotov at the "U Mosta" theater in 2011, was nominated for the "Golden Mask" and participated in many festivals, but we were presented with a version with Moscow actors and clearly prepared for further screening in the form of an entreprise. Of course, I would like to see the performance of the Perm theater with actors from Perm, but I saw what I did. By the way, the actors in the Moscow performance are first-class: Honored Artist of Russia from the "Satyricon" Vladimir Bolshov, the theater actor of Roman Viktyuk Ivan Ivanovich, as well as artists Ilya Glinnikov and Yaroslav Slavskaya. The play is ideal for an entreprise: the unity of place and time, a twisted plot and only four actors are employed. The performance also includes shooting at live targets, juggling with severed hands, and acrobatic and choreographic performances - so the audience simply has no time to get bored. The performance is based on the play by the Oscar winner, "British Tarantino" Martin McDonagh. In fact, it was Sergei Fedotov who once discovered this famous contemporary author for the Russian stage. Moscow actors in the Perm performance play with temperament and enthusiasm. Vladimir Bolshov is ideal for the role of Carmichael from Spokane, who spent twenty-seven years of his life punishing the thugs who robbed him of his hand. Ivan Ivanovich (Toby) and Yaroslava Slavskaya (Marilyn) - a kind of small-grained Bonnie and Clyde, in pursuit of easy money, got stuck in an unpleasant story. And Ilya Glinnikov, in the role of the porter Marvin, is incredibly charming, plastic and dynamic - he literally flies around the stage, delighting the audience with his choreographic training and acrobatic performances. As a result, almost three hours flew by unnoticed and I left the theater in high spirits like after a good comedy, but in the following days the performance did not let me go, forcing me to find new facets in the images of its heroes and delve into the multitude of plot layers. So the play "The Armless from Spokane" is not as simple as it might initially seem, and deeper than it seems at first glance.

Once a miracle happens and you, driven by some crazy wind, find yourself at the performance of the Author's Theater "U Mosta" from Perm.
Yes, I believe that for the first time such performances are not attended without the intervention of higher powers.
This is then, surprised, amazed and falling in love, you will already be monitoring sites and social networks, catching tickets and waiting for the tour.
This fall we were lucky to see the LITTLE WEST
McDonagh's plays entered the Russian theatrical world not so long ago, but quickly gained popularity, even though they are full of black humor, and sometimes even a little absurd.
And this popularity is not accidental. The life story of a little person resonates in us more often than we would like to admit it.
So "Lonely West" he is - about a little man. More precisely, about a few small people.
Irish village. The house in which two brothers live who have just buried their father, who was killed by one of them.
They argue and conflict, regularly promising to take each other's lives. But then higher powers intervene, choosing this time a modest rural priest as mediators.
And this priest succeeds in touching the most alive in the brothers "lost in the bustle of the souls". It succeeds, but not in a sermon, and not in confession, but by sacrificing one's own soul.

It is from this moment that the main thing begins - the transformation of the brothers.
Difficult and painful. And sometimes it even seems that the sacrifice of the priest is in vain, but
THEY WILL HANDLE!
How did Sergei Fedotov manage, who, together with the actors, managed to create an atmosphere on the stage, thanks to which you do not doubt for a second that you see exactly the living room of the most ordinary Irish house. And it's not even about the murmur of water from the tap or puffs of smoke from a shot-through plate. The atmosphere of this performance is woven from hundreds of elaborate details.
Little things that delight a grateful and attentive viewer. As if not only our heroes live on the stage, but also chairs, and glasses, and old magazines, and a nail driven into the wall, and every piece of furniture marked with the letter "V".
How exciting it is to watch both the emotions gripping the brothers and how they seek the power to control those emotions.
How exciting it is to discover the world of a distant mysterious country and life so different from ours.
How wonderful it is to realize that having reached the finale of the performance, you suddenly gained even greater faith in your own strengths, in the love and light that live in each of us.
The performance, by the way, is a Nominee of the National Prize "GOLDEN MASK" -2008 ".

The play "The Master and Margarita".
I never go to performances based on the novel "The Master and Margarita"!
Rather, it would be more correct to say "did not go". There are many reasons for this: I love the novel too much, I have my own vision of the characters, no production can accommodate everything, and without everything it’s not interesting, etc.
However, my level of trust in Sergei Fedotov and the "U Mosta" theater is so high that I broke all the promises I made to myself and went to the play "The Master and Margarita".
And in the first part I was very tense: I was afraid that somewhere they would not reach, vulgarize, not open, they would break that fragile charm of the book's charm, that I would become bored ...

There are only the main characters on the stage, all the action is focused on the Master and Margarita. The whole novel is packed into three hours of theatrical action, naturally we will not see much, even such expected and bright ones as: the destruction of the apartment, the repair of the primus, a session of black magic and flying fake money. But in this case, this layer of the novel is shown schematically, indicated by one bright stroke.

Here is a meeting at Patriarch Woland and writers, then Yeshua Ha-Notsri and Pontius Pilate, tram, Annushka. Stop! And then Ivan Homeless meets the Master in a madhouse, and he tells his story and his meeting with Margarita ...
As soon as Margarita appeared on the stage, I exhaled, because it became clear to me that everything was working out as it should, that now you can relax and immerse yourself in action, without trying to analyze logically, but only listen, watch and perceive.
I still remember Maria Novichenko for the mystical role of Panochka in the performance of the same name. Here we have an unambiguously Bulgakov's heroine - beautiful, proud, courageous and infinitely loving.

And thanks to the theater for not flirting with the audience, inventing complex decorations for the sake of a minute flight on a broomstick. Mysticism was created by play, by light. Of course, Woland performed by Valery Mitin - one glance, a turn of the head was enough to feel the spirit of otherworldly power and danger ...

I do not want to reveal all the director's findings, I will say one thing, this performance has been going on for 30 years, the composition changes, but the magic of the novel remains, because the manuscripts do not burn!

One of the strongest contemporary playwrights is Martin McDonagh. In Russia, his plays are often performed, but only the Perm theater "Near the Bridge" staged all of his works. Fortunately, the theater comes to Moscow regularly. The action in the play "Lonely West" takes place again in Ireland, in some town in Connemara. This area of Ireland is home to a beautiful national park. But in general, Connemara is a peat bog, not without reason that its inhabitants were engaged in peat harvesting and fishing. As they like to say now, this is a depressed region.

But people live there too. McDonagh's play "The Lonely West" tells of two brothers who have hated each other since childhood. But they have nowhere to go and now they have been living in the same house for many years. Until their father stumbles and accidentally hits the gun hanging on the wall and falls dead. Did you believe this story? Here is Father Welch, the local priest did not believe it either. Moreover, after this incident, one of the brothers, Valin, became the full owner of all property, and the second was left with nothing. The problem is that Ireland is, of course, a Catholic country. But Father Welch is not respected in the parish, he is too insecure, too busy looking for the meaning of life. And he drinks like a shoemaker. However, who doesn't drink in Ireland? And then Welch decides to sacrifice his immortal soul, but to reconcile the brothers. Will he be able to do it?

As the annotation says, this is a 2-murder, 2-suicide comedy. And this is absolutely true. Is this a funny performance? In my opinion - not very much, although the audience laughed. But he definitely gives food for thought. A black comedy in which people are dying left and right, in which the heroes now and then threaten each other with a knife or a gun, calls for reconciliation and mutual understanding - is this possible?

The performance was staged absolutely amazingly (thanks to Sergey Fedotov) and very realistic (I could not find who the production designer was, although I was looking for it for a long time). There are only 4 actors in the roles (Vasily Skidanov, Vladimir Ilyin, Valery Mitin and Maria Novichenko), but how they play! They not only talked about the life of their characters, but also showed how this godforsaken town lives.

Classic with a mystical twist
Gogol's "Marriage" is a well-known thing. Such a snide comedy with a happy ending for the main character, but not for the heroine. And everything in this comedy, it seems, is obvious: narrow-minded, but amusingly expressing characters, a plot with matchmaking; but in the production of the Perm Theater "Near the Bridge" there is a strong feeling of connection with other not at all comedy works of Gogol.
Yes, yes, if you add the mysticism of VIA to the classic comedy, and take some of the nightmares of the PORTRAIT, and, perhaps, add to this more lights from the ENCHANTED PLACE - that will be a production by director Sergei Fedotov.
These horrible additions did not frighten me, but amused me. Flashing lights, disappearing characters, greenish faces in the closet and candles, candles, candles were very neatly and logically mixed into the action. The performance has gone from reality to the otherworldly. Salted and pepper a sweet dish.
For the rest, it seems to me, everything is traditional: high-quality acting work; beautiful decorations of a manor house; artists who visually fit into established images. No hint of the 12-chair variation of the Columbus Theater.
With pleasure I got acquainted with the theater, organized in 1988 and today has a huge page on Wikipedia.
I will keep track of new tours.

I have been in love with the Perm "U Most" for several years already. Having seen the production of Martin McDonagh for the first time on the stage of GITIS, I try not to miss the tour of this extraordinary group. On New Year's Eve I even made a present for myself - I went to Perm and watched one of the performances on the "native" stage.

Sergei Fedotov's theater is in Moscow quite often, but getting to the performances is more and more difficult each time - after all, many people, like me, are waiting for the U Mosta tour.

Why is this and what is the secret of this theater? I think that the productions of "Near the Bridge" are extraordinary, awarded with numerous prizes and give the viewer not only a flurry of emotions, but also the opportunity to open themselves for psychological searches, to look inside, into their own soul.

And now, at the Stanislavsky Factory Summer Festival of Provincial Theaters, the Perm Theater is over-sold - tickets were sold out long before the show.

And my theatrical piggy bank is replenished with the classics - the play "Golovlevs" based on the work of Mikhail Evgrafovich Saltykov-Shchedrin in the version "At the Bridge".

It is surprising that calling itself an experimental and mystical theater, "At the Bridge" puts the classics without deviating from the storyline, without distorting or adjusting the story to the "news of the day." There are not fully disclosed moments, but they only push to the original source - to re-read, remember.

And in the dark scenery of an old Russian estate, the tragedy of the degenerating gentlemen of the Golovlevs turns out to be so urgent ...

We see a clash of two worlds in a cauldron of related troubles: the domineering head of a large family Arina Petrovna and the youngest son Judas - Porfiry Vladimirich - tough, cold, despotic, striving for accumulation, money-grubbing, and a worthless father, worthless older children, grandchildren, burning their lives and the legacy of ancestors.
From indifference, hypocrisy, manipulation and, finally, curses, it becomes truly creepy.

And there is mysticism here too - it is in how gradually from scene to scene Judushka (Andrey Vorobyov) acquires a disgusting rat appearance, how icons fall and family portraits fly off, leaving homeless window holes on the walls of a once strong house, how they appear and pass in a silent reproach the "gray ghosts" of relatives who have left this world.

At some moments I could hardly restrain sobbing - the feeling of no return, the feeling of doom, the collapse of the life of the Golovlevs was overwhelming. Strange, but who are they to me? And after all, almost all unpleasant characters.

But here is the last scene - all family members are together, gathered around a large table and look into the auditorium.

Could they have lived a different life if not for dislike?
