Comprehensive bug fixes for Fallout 4. The goal of the unofficial Fallout 4 patch (aka UFO4P) is to ultimately fix every bug in Fallout 4 that is not officially resolved by the game's developers through the Creation Kit and community-developed tools, in one simple install package .

Requires game version 1.10.138.0 or higher!
The patch can be installed already during the game (but it would be ideal from the beginning of the game), but DO NOT remove the patch already during the game in any case !!!

Update:2.0.9 (BETA version from 09/21/2019)
- This is a beta version of the unofficial Fallout 4 game patch version 1.10.138.0. Do not use the beta version on the save you are playing with, make a backup save so that if something happens, roll back to an early save! The beta version is for testing and sharing so that translators can update the language files before release (which I did, translated). As soon as the testing is completed, which will take about 2 weeks, a release will be released, perhaps during these 2 weeks the patch will be updated several times if bugs are found.
- You can all the changes and fixes that patch 2.0.9 makes (there are a lot of fixes in the latest version, so at least something has been fixed, select all the text and type it into the Google or Yandex dictionary, at least something will be clear)

Update: 2.0.8a (release dated 08/07/2019)
* The horns in Vault 88 were not shutting down properly due to an issue in an attempt to fix scripted "bug in bug" #26015. Update: 2.0.6а (release dated 12/27/2018)
* DLC01_Track System Machine: Two lines in this script were erroneously placed in the wrong order. This could cause the data to remain inactive and the final battle in the Mechanist's lair not to start (bug #25620).

old patches

The gaming market in the current conditions and thanks to modern technologies is developing more and more, making it possible to release high-quality game projects that amaze not only with their progress, but also with the quality of the displayed image. But along with new features come new problems, unforeseen errors and other unpleasant technical issues that can spoil the impression of the game or even cause a violation of stable performance. How to be in such a situation? Fortunately, the problem is not new, so the developers have found a way to solve it by releasing additional software elements (patches). So what is a gaming patch? This is exactly what you can learn from this article, which contains all the necessary and useful information on this issue.

What is a patch?

Yes, developers are forced to release programs that automatically correct errors. for games? This is a special technical fix that is intended for game project files, capable of changing almost any problem that has been discovered since the release. But it should be borne in mind that such improvements and fixes are intended exclusively for licensed copies of virtual entertainment. If you are using a pirated version, then there may be problems with this process. Therefore, it is best not to use third-party versions of games, as they do not have support from developers.

What are they needed for?

What are game patches? As mentioned above, they are intended to stabilize the game project by making edits, etc. But they do not always bring only edits with them. For example, if a game project is a multiplayer project, then patches mean new content, updates, and improvements. But for single-player games, additional software elements are mostly positive changes. It is worth remembering this so that there are no additional questions. For example, the patch for the game "Call of Pripyat" makes changes in the balance of mutants and groups, strengthens them, and also changes the behavior. But the patch for the game World of Tanks adds new maps, tanks and game modes.

How to install?

So, with the content of these program files, everything became clear. But how do you install them? At first, it is worth remembering what a patch for games is. As mentioned above, this is a small update for the project, which is released by the developer himself. From this we can conclude that in the conditions of the modern gaming market, there is no need to take any action (if you use a licensed copy of the game). The fact is that the Internet has penetrated everywhere and everywhere, the same applies to developers. Almost every new interactive entertainment has remote support from the authors through their personal server or an additional Steam service. And this means that absolutely all updates and patches will be automatically installed after the release.

Is it necessary to do this?

That, in fact, is all you need to know about what a game patch is. But is it necessary to update projects? No, this procedure can be skipped (the exception is multiplayer games), but it is worth remembering that without installing patches, you risk being left without additional content and bug fixes. In addition, some game projects have critical problems that will not allow you to complete the game or fully enjoy all the features that were intended. And in order to get a full-fledged game, it is best not to disdain to install all the necessary updates.

Or how to Russify games.

Let's start with the fact that the word "patch" comes from the English word patch, meaning literally the following: patch, patch, repair or repair.

Scope of application.

Now it is difficult to say for what purpose patches and everything connected with them were invented, but they are used (especially in emulation) very widely.

  • The simplest and most understandable is the translation of the game into Russian or any other language. Firstly, this does not violate the copyright of the game, and secondly, and more importantly, the patch is always smaller than the original game, because you change only the text and some of the graphics (the code and music usually remain unchanged).
  • Making various changes to the ROM. What is it for? Some programmers release patches to the game that fix bugs or glitches in the game or allow the emulator to emulate the game correctly (removing all kinds of protections, ...)
  • ROM hacking. This, I think everyone understands. Someone paints the walls, floor (and sometimes the ceiling) in the game with inscriptions like "Vasya was here", someone makes the heroes immortal, and someone just undresses Barbie or wedges their favorite music into the game :)

Training

So, I think that's enough theory for a start, let's move on to something more pleasant.

  1. Remember this VERY IMPORTANT: before starting any changes first:
    - Save the original ROM (as a rule, no one releases anti-patches) :)
    - Unzip (unpack) the ROM and the patch, for convenience, into one folder, although this is not important. ZIP patches do not work.
  2. Make sure that the ROM is exactly what you need (as a rule, the accompanying documentation indicates which ROM you need to patch) The fact is that for the same game there can be many ROMs that differ either in the version of the game or in the language.
  3. If you have everything you need and you have completed the first two points, then let's start.

What's this?

Pay attention to what is in the patch archive.

  • Type files TXT these are clarifications and comments to the patch (sometimes just necessary). Take a couple of minutes and check them out.
  • Type files EXE. It is in this form that all the latest patches and translations are released. If the archive contains just such a file, then your torment is over. Run it, select ROM and press "PATCH". After that, you can safely start playing.
  • Type files IPS. See below.

Programs and formats

The most common patch format used in emulation is the IPS format. For the curious, I’ll tell you that there are also less common formats (APS, ...), but they are rarely used and with large ROMs (for example, Zelda for Nintendo 64). As far as I know, the ips format has a ROM size limit of 16 MB.

We figured out the format, now let's move on to the programs. There are many well-known and little-known programs for ips patches (even I did something similar). The most common of them:

  • For MS-DOS there is an ips program, I won’t tell you how to work in it, because if you don’t know DOS, then all my explanations will be useless, and if you are familiar, then they are all the more useless. I note that the maximum length of the ROM name should not exceed 8 characters. Programs like snestool are also suitable for this purpose in DOS.
  • For Windows there are more than a dozen programs: smart-IPS, Lunar IPS, IPS-WIN, etc. The first one on the list doesn't always work correctly with small patches, so it's best not to use it, Lunal IPS is not widely used, although it is a great piece of software, so we will focus on the last one.

IPS-WIN 2.0

Download and run it.

Everything is very simple:
- File to patch is our ROM
- IPS Patch To Use - of course, here you need to specify the path to the patch.

Then press the Patch button! and it's done :)
Other patch programs work in a similar way.

I can not!

As a rule, problems with the translation of games arise for Sega or Super Nintendo. But before you panic, take a close look at the patches and ROMs you are using or not. If this does not help, then let's try to figure it out:

  1. The problem of "RED SCREEN" - is solved very simply: in the Gens emulator, check Option / Misc / Auto fix Checksum. For Kega Fusion there is a similar option Options/Set Config/Genesis/Auto fix Checksums. This is a protection that is triggered if the ROM "a checksum is incorrect.
  2. Without going into technical details, I will say that there are several formats for Sega ROMs, the most common are SMD and BIN. Run the GenRomSuite program and determine the format of your ROM and, if necessary, re-encode it (in my practice, this happened once with the Cyber Cop game)
  3. If nothing helps, then read the documentation for the patch, and if nothing helps at all, then write to me.
  1. Everything is more complicated here, since in addition to several formats there is also a HEADER (ROM header "a). Experiment: run SNESTOOLS and try to remove or add it on the contrary. As a rule, everything starts working. (HEADER has a size of 512 bytes, so check the documentation)
  2. Formats. There are many of them, but as a rule, all patches are released for the SMC format, less often for FIG, ... This is due to the fact that almost all ROMs on the net are in the SMC format. If there is an alternative in the network (for example, the notorious game TALES OF PHANTASIA exists in the network in both formats), then patches are released for both formats. I won't tell you how to convert SNES ROM formats - you'll get confused anyway.
  3. If all else fails, then once again carefully read the documentation for the patch.

Nintendo 64

1. Remember once and for all: IPS FORMAT works correctly with files whose size does not exceed 16 MB! To work with large ROMs, use the xSApply program, which is already included with the patch and other utilities.

Creation of patches.

For this purpose, the mkips (dos) and IPSEXE v.1.5 programs for windows are suitable. Let's dwell on the latter in more detail.

Run ips2exe.

  • Description- a brief description of the patch up to 256 bytes. Here, as a rule, the exact name of the ROM and information about the patch and its author are indicated.
  • Files- specify here the paths to the original and modified file, respectively.
    * It is also possible to make an executable EXE file from a patch (Create EXE Patch from existing IPS file)
  • Save as- specify in what form our patch will be saved (according to the rules, it is desirable in both)
  • Next- When everything is ready, press this button and write a name for your patch. If necessary, change from exe to ips and click next again.

The description is confusing, but in principle everything is clear.
