How to draw a beautiful butterfly with a pencil step by step. How to draw a butterfly with colored pencils

Hello! Today we are going to tell you how to draw a butterfly! This is the first insect that has appeared on our website at the moment. Unless we drew earlier, but this, of course, is an arthropod. And it was much more difficult to draw it - today's butterfly is very simple, except for the stages with a pattern on the wings.

But they will not be particularly difficult if you stick to the order and carefully consider the schemes that our artists offer you. Let's start the lesson and find out!

Step 1

Let's start drawing with such a small circle.

Step 2

Step 3

Now let's outline the wide wings. More precisely, only the upper contours. By the way, we have a lot of flower drawing lessons on our site, so you can draw a butterfly sitting on.

Step 4

Next, we will draw the lower edges of the wings and a line that will separate the actual upper parts of the wings and the lower ones. The dividing line looks like a horizontal line that runs through almost all of our drawing. it crosses the torso of the butterfly at the top (note that it is at the top, not in the middle).

Step 5

We draw the antennae of our butterfly, draw out the lateral edges of the wings. The contours of the edges should be symmetrically jagged, but smooth.

Step 6

If you wanted to know, you have to deal with the patterns on her wings. In this step, everything is quite simple, you need to draw patterns on the upper parts of her wings. We recommend that you first draw the largest figures - the one below and the one that is closest to the butterfly's body.

Step 7

But here it will be more difficult. There are many lines, you can get confused if you do not follow the order. But we decided to make a small diagram on which we highlighted in red what should be drawn first.

This is how it will look without the markup:

Step 8

We conclude our lesson by drawing ovals on the areas free of the main patterns. Please note that the ovals should be symmetrical. Also note that if you see a clear asymmetry of the pattern, then you made a mistake in some of the previous steps.

Look at the illustrations for the lesson not as pictures of a butterfly drawn in pencil, but as diagrams, trace the sequence and identify the error.

This was a step by step drawing lesson on how to draw a butterfly with a pencil step by step. Take a look at our VK page, there are many interesting things waiting for you!

Children are very fond of draw butterflies probably because butterflies have an unusually beautiful and bright color. You can draw a butterfly with a simple pencil, but still pictures of butterflies drawn with paints are much more spectacular. In this lesson, we will learn how to correctly draw the shape of the torso and wings of a butterfly. Step by step we will draw the patterns of the butterfly's wings, create shadows. And if you paint the butterfly with paints instead of a pencil, then the butterfly in the picture will turn out like a real one. let's try draw a butterfly pencil, step by step.

1. Let's draw the general outlines of the butterfly

Before drawing the butterfly, you need to make the initial outlines. To do this, draw an oval and a circle - these will be the initial outlines of the calf and head. These initial shapes will help you draw the butterfly correctly in the future. In the first step, draw two more pairs of lines, the same as in my drawing. They will help you draw butterfly wings.

2. Draw the outlines of the wings and head

First of all, draw antennae with thickenings at the edges, and it will already become clear that this is butterfly drawing... Also add the upper wing outlines and the outlines of the lower wing liners. Add a rounded outline to the top of the lower wings. Try to make the initial contours as accurate as possible, because the entire drawing of the butterfly will depend on the initial marking.

3. Draw the general outline of the wings

This step is very simple. You only need to connect the previous lines into one general outline of the butterfly's wings. Draw these lines without pressing hard on the pencil. You will have to fix them in the next step.

4. The contours of the butterfly's wings in detail

Drawing in this step is also easy. The shape of the butterfly's wings has an "irregular" shape and there are no special rules for how to draw them. Draw these outlines at random, as you like best, the main thing is that the wings of the butterfly are symmetrical on both sides.

5. Draw veins on the wings

The butterfly's wings are very delicate and sometimes even transparent. But there are veins inside the wings that you need to draw. Draw them randomly, the main thing is not too many and that they are symmetrical. You see, learning how to draw a butterfly is not difficult at all. You just need to follow the step-by-step instructions exactly and as a result you will get such a beautiful picture of a butterfly. However, first come up with the patterns for the wings. There are butterflies that have huge eyes on their wings. In this way, nature helps them protect themselves from birds that want to feast on a butterfly. Try to also draw such a pattern on the wings, there will be a very effective picture.

6. Add patterns and finish drawing the butterfly

If you don't know how to use paints, color the butterfly with colored pencils or shade the drawing with a simple pencil. It's pretty easy to draw a butterfly. But there are certain difficulties, for example, the rough surface of the wings. Try this with pencil strokes pointing in one direction. Then you can rub these strokes with your finger or other improvised objects, such as paper or a hard eraser. There are so many patterns on the wings that you can draw any that you think of yourself. But almost all garden butterflies have a black outline on their wings. And in the cabbage butterfly, there are rare lines with circles.

In this video drawing tutorial, we will show you how to draw a butterfly step by step. Stop the video periodically and add a new butterfly element to your drawing.

You managed to draw a beautifully butterfly, then try to draw a dragonfly as well. Do you think you cannot draw such a beautiful dragonfly as in my drawing? And you try, the main thing is to take a sharper pencil, because the lines of the dragonfly drawing should be very thin and clear.

Everyone, probably, tried to draw a rose, but not everyone succeeds. In fact, drawing a rose is easy, you just need to remember its features. In this lesson, we will be able to draw a rose in stages. To make the rose look realistic, you can draw a butterfly sitting on a leaf or rosebud.

In this drawing tutorial we will show you how to draw a butterfly in 9 easy steps. This step by step tutorial builds on each previous step gradually until you get to the final drawing of the Butterfly.

Here are some interesting facts about the Butterfly that might interest you.

A butterfly has four stages in its life cycle: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Butterflies have large, often brightly colored wings and a noticeable, fluttering flight.

Butterflies show polymorphism, facial expressions. Some butterflies migrate long distances. Butterflies feed mainly on the nectar from flowers.

In 9 steps we are going to show you how to draw this beautiful butterfly with its fully spread wings.

Step 1: Draw an oval to create the beginning of the body.

Step 2: Draw the upper wings.

Step 3: Draw the lower wings following the red outlines.

Step 4: Draw the details of the inner wing.

Step 5: Add details for the outer wing, draw some more details on the body and don't forget to finish off the head.

Step 6: Draw more detail on the lower wings.

Step 7: Draw more detail towards the upper wings.

Step 8: Draw the final details for the head and add the antennas.

Step 9: Add the final details to the lower wings and the upper inner wing and you've completed the How to Draw a Butterfly tutorial.

Let's draw a butterfly and a butterfly coloring.

These butterflies are remarkably beautiful creatures. However, to be honest, other insects are also very beautiful and in general all living things are beautiful in themselves. Another question is that we, adults, consider butterflies to be beautiful and SIMPLE, and now, from our side, children draw butterflies with might and main. But, alas, purely speculative - from the imagination. That is, they heard the ringing, but they do not know where he is. Basically, children's drawings of butterflies boil down to an image of a barrel with flounced wings on the sides, and the whole thing is topped with an emoticon with a spirally twisted mustache. In flight, butterflies are usually depicted simply vertically, since insects are located in pictures in entomology books.

In other words, a wonderful phenomenon - the flight of a butterfly is not drawn by children as a flight or as a butterfly. I note that it would be difficult for me to draw a flying butterfly like this - from memory it would be difficult - I have never thoughtfully observe butterflies and draw from life - they do not pose))).

Okay, then from the photo.

By the way, in order to understand how and what it is better to first familiarize yourself with the structure of butterflies -

Having decided to reveal the topic as fully as possible, I found a lot of pictures on the Internet and then, basically, there will be just pictures.

How to draw a butterfly realistically - lesson 1

First, make a sketch with a pencil, with light strokes so that you can correct it. And, only after making sure that the image is captured correctly, we clarify the lines more clearly.

Our first model was photographed at the moment when the upper wings are quite wide open. But the lower wing is visible only one ... and why not? I have looked through many photographs, and it seems that the lower pair of butterfly wings in flight are opened less often and not as wide as the upper one. That is, the lower wings of the butterfly are now closed.

Also note the position of the body, it is, like, diagonally. Not horizontally, like a bird, not vertically, like a rocket taking off, but at an angle (like a flying angel). The legs are slightly tucked under the body down. That is, they are not strongly pressed, but they also do not hang freely in the air.

The wings are very large. The upper ones are almost triangular and in perspective, and even in foreshortening, their shape is very significantly distorted.

Oh, how difficult all this is for children ...

I agree, but this does not mean that for simplicity of perception, now to simplify living nature to the level of symbols, completely distorting reality.

We'd better try to understand and remember exactly how these butterflies look in flight.

How to draw a flying butterfly - lesson 2

This picture is similar to the previous one, only flying in the opposite direction. This is good: now it will become clear what we learned from the previous lesson. In this butterfly, the upper wings are also very sharply open, the lower ones are drawn together, and again one is completely obscured.

The body is not large and also, in flight, is located at an angle. In this butterfly, the legs are also directed back, but almost not pressed - it flies up to the plant and, apparently, is already preparing the landing gear for landing. Here is the second realistic coloring-drawing "Butterfly in flight

What do you need

  • simple pencil;
  • colour pencils;
  • eraser.

How to draw a butterfly

1. With a simple pencil, use barely noticeable lines to outline the elongated thin body of the butterfly. On the sides of the upper part of the body, draw rounded lines up and continue them to the middle of the body so that you get oblong wings. Draw small lower semicircular wings below them.

With a black pencil, mark two small round eyes in place of the head. Circle the outlines of the calf, narrowing it just above the middle. Paint the bottom with black.

2. In the upper torso, under the head, draw a short horizontal line. Use the same black pencil to trace the upper and lower wings. Draw curved tendrils above the eyes, with bold dots at the ends.

3. Make thick lines at the base of the upper wing on the right and at the lower corners of both upper wings. Inside, from the middle of the upper body, release small smooth lines to the sides.

With a blue pencil, without going beyond these lines, partially paint over the upper wings so that they are darker at the base. Barely pressing on the pencil, draw in the same color the lower wings next to the butterfly's body.

4. With turquoise or light blue, continue painting all the wings to about the middle. To ensure a smooth color transition, slightly overlap the previous shade and do not apply too much pressure.

YouTube channel Art and Sketch

5. With a red pencil, only slightly pressing on it, paint over a little more of the upper wing on the left. Capture more space at the top right of it than at the bottom. Details can be seen in the photo. Add red to the lower wings as well, but don't paint over them completely.

6. Erase the top corner of the upper right wing and add a line with a burgundy pencil in place of the previous one. Paint over the wing with the same color, a little short of the edge. Add a burgundy layer on the left wing, leaving more space on the edge than on the other side. In the upper parts, make the color more saturated.

Paint over the lower wings completely with burgundy pencil, pushing harder against the torso.

7. Darken the corner of the upper wing on the left with purple. Pressing on the burgundy pencil, circle the left edge of this wing with it, a few circles at the top and paint over the rest of the space. On the wing on the right, add the same circles symmetrically and tint the unpainted edge, going to the previous color.

Make the burgundy layer on the lower wings bold. With this pencil, trace the lower border of the wing on the right.

YouTube channel Art and Sketch

8. With a blue pencil, trace again at the base of the upper wings, as well as along the burgundy color at the middle of the torso on the lower wings.

Paint over the top corner and the entire edge of the large wing on the left with purple, going into the previous shade with smooth lines. Paint the wing on the right the same way. The detailed process is shown in the video below. Use the same pencil to tint the side corners of the lower wings.

YouTube channel Art and Sketch

9. Brighten up the red layer at the top of the large wings. Add this color along the bottom edge of the small wings.

YouTube channel Art and Sketch

10. With black pencil, draw the bases of the upper wings near the head. Continue the lines outlined just below, making them curved. Connect them with short oblique lines to the edges of the wings. Add from the corners on the resulting shapes one more line to the sides, drawing them until they are purple.

YouTube channel Art and Sketch

11. From the beginning of the shapes drawn in the previous one, draw horizontal smooth lines to the edges of the wings. Darken the corners between them with black.

Select the lower borders of the large wings. Where they touch the small ones, make the lines thick. Circle the edges of the lower wings with the same black pencil.

YouTube channel Art and Sketch

12. In black, highlight the upper tips and side edges of the large wings, outlining the white circles. At the bottom, above the horizontal lines, add some slanted strokes.

Draw several horizontal small lines along the lower border of the small wings. Add some black dots below. Select the burgundy layer on all four wings.

YouTube channel Art and Sketch

13. Finally, draw black thin veins on all the wings and tint the spots on the sides of the bottom of the calf. Use gray and lilac pencils to add a shadow from the butterfly.

The detailed process is shown in this tutorial video:
