Interesting facts about the film "In Search of Captain Grant"

30 years ago at Odessa Film Studio (USSR) and Studios "Boyana" (Bulgaria), a multi-sieuled television adventure film Stanislav Govorukhin was removed based on the Roman Jules Verne "Children of Captain Grant." And exactly 19 years ago (from May 13 to May 21), this film was first shown on the first program of Central Television Goseradio of the USSR.

By the way, this is the second attempt to film the Roman Jules Verne "Children Captain Grant." The first, the same name was removed in 1936 by the director Vladimir Weinshtok. Govorukhin decided to change a little, so that avoid confusion.

The film consists of two storylines. The first one tells about the life of the writer Jules Verne and the history of the creation and publication of the novel "Children of Captain Grant." The second actually tells the plot of the novel as he gradually born in the imagination of the writer.

Lord Glenarwan and his wife Helen make a wedding trip in Scottish waters on Duncan yacht. The crew of the ship catches the shark, in the insides of which a bottle from under champagne is found. Inside, it is underway with water-cut paper on three languages \u200b\u200bwith a request for help: the English vessel has crashed, they managed to be able to two sailors and captain a grant. Capital children come to Lord to Lord.

After the failure of the English government, Lord Glenarwan himself searches himself decides to help the Hero of Scotland. They are just known that the collapse occurred on the 37th parallels, but the longitude is unknown. In search of the captain, brave plaid make on the 37th parallels around the world.

In the final of the film both plot lines merge, the ship Jules Verne and Duncan are found in the sea.

Yacht "Duncan" is sent from Europe to South America. Her route takes place next to the Canary Islands. But it is not difficult to note that Ayu Dag is shown in the role of Gurzuf.

View from the azure bay near the Artek camp. ARTEKA Harbor - an international yacht parking, near her also removed many films about marine adventures ("Odyssey Captain Blad", "In Search of Captain Grant")

Only some sea scenes were removed in Crimea. The main mass of the material is from Bulgaria. Or rather, from the outskirts of the town of Belogradchik. "Belogradchishki rings" - a natural phenomenon. Fancy rocks stretch in a large area located in the northwestern part of Bulgaria, 40 km from the Serbian border. Belogradchishki rings were used as natural scenery for a variety of artistic and documentary paintings. In total, more than 70 Bulgarian, American and European tapes were filmed in the local places. Andrzej Waida shot the episodes of her film School - "ash" in Belogradchishkish rocks. Goyko Mitich, Christopher Lambert, Claus Maria Brandauer, Claus Maria Brandauer, Max Backdrops Zudov, and others. Vasily Livanov shot in Belogradchik "Return of Don Quixote" with Armen Dzhigarkhanyan and Mikhail Ulyanov. In 1985, Stanislav Govorukhin completed the filming of the film "In Search of Captain Grant", where the most unique toilets, reproducing the Patagonia, were removed in the vicinity of Belogradchik. In the mountains wearing own names (shepherd, Bear, Madonna, etc.).

Places are very beautiful, there is no dispute. Such entourage could be found in the same Crimea. Just as said Govorukhin times were such that people tried to jump at least to jump out of the iron curtain on and without.

This frame could be done somewhere in the Nikitsky Russeck, for example. "Nikitskaya Russecks by the Scalodrom" Monument of Nature (1969), located above the trolleybus route near the village of Botanic. As if dissected by a giant sword, limestone rocks form gloomy, cold gorge. Sheer cliffs of 25-30 meters high above their heads, along the upper edge of the gorge growing. With a width of about 30 meters, Nikitskaya Russewin extends from the east west to 200 meters.

And there is on the Karadag.

Almost Chersonese Tauride.
Interesting: In Australia, Pagannel and Robert ride horses and talk about the exhausting heat in the winter, while in the same frame, the horse snorted and from the mouth went steam.

Somewhere under Balaklava.

Similar scenery could fully rebuild in a cynogide in the solar valley under Sudak. The background landscape is almost identical. And the fact that it is precisely the scenery is easy to make sure, turning attention to the plywood crosses in the cemetery. They are trembling in the wind.

Well, there is no such thing in the Crimea. So we will assume that Stanislav Sergeevich and the company did not spend in vain for almost two years on the core.

We are accustomed to seeing the Crimea in the movies with sunny and green, and Govorukhin decided to remove the transition through Andes on the peninsula. With real snow and cold winds. The case was in the upper part of serpentine on Ai-Petri.
By the way: in Patagonia Robert Grant carries in Condor claws. However, in fact, due to the structure of their paws, these birds cannot carry heavy loads and raise them to a large height. Jules Verne was misleading talked at his time contrived stories about these huge birds.

The film ends where it started. Rocks Adalary near Gurzuf.

Ayrton threw in Chekhov's bay in Gurzuf.

As a "Duncana" during the film shooting, the Kodor "Code" (related to Sailing ships of the Finnish series, built for the Soviet Union and commissioned from 1946 to 1953), under the control of Captain Oleg Senyuk, was specifically Re-equipment for filming (in particular - added a boutophy chimney, from which, according to the legend that Duncan - a steam yacht was supposed to pour smoke. Before the pipe installed a false superstructure with the helm. For this I had to dismantle the grotto-guy and, as The investigation, the grotto of the mast anywhere in the frame does not carry sailing weapons). It is perplexed by the presence of a Gafel on the Bizan-mast "Duncan" in the film - in all sources it is indicated that all three masts of the Codor are oblivioned oblique, Bermud (that is, triangular) sails. An even greater bewilderment causes the presence of a bizan-mast in principle, since in the novel "Duncan" - Brig, that is, a two-dimensional vessel with straight sails, and therefore there should be no bizan-mast. The titers are not mentioned by Bark "Mountains Fock" ("Comrade") and Schuna "Zarya", on which the shooting of some scenes associated with Duncan was also carried out.

The biography of Jules Verne was invented by the creators of the film.

According to the novel, all travelers remained alive, while in the film some died. However, the ending of the film leaves inappropriate to this issue.
The adventures of the heroes in Patagonia were radically changed (added the storyline associated with Raimundo Svoss and Indians).
When Pagagnell was captured by the Indians of Patagonia, there was quite well the life of the Indians themselves, which is a stereotypical for the Aboriginal North America (Tipi, Tomahawk, clothing, etc.) and has nothing to do with the indigenous people of Patagonia.
In the pan's novel, Maori tattoo is applied; In the film - Indians, and then, when he finds himself in captivity Maori, the tattoo saves his life, making an impression on the aborigines.
Sailing from Australia to New Zealand on the raft - modification of the text of the novel.
Also fixed the date of swimming captain grant and the beginning of the search (in the book they start searching in a few weeks and find two years later, in the film - after a year and a half).
The fate of the captain of Grant and his two sailors on the island of Tabor (Maria Teresa) was changed. According to the film, Captain Grant is intact and unharmed, one sailor died, the second - lost the reason. In the novel, they all survived staying on the island and remained healthy.

It was one of my favorite films in childhood. I think that many children and even teenagers of that time, this film left his mark in the shower. I remember that I really wanted to be on that ship, on Duncane. I wanted to twist the steering wheel and be together with the heroes from the film. I dreamed that someday I would be on this sailboat. Dreaming sincerely, childish ...

But, over time, this is all forgotten, and only distant memories remained. And still dreams come true!. Today I visited this ship. Interestingly, since 2004, he was constantly "under his nose," I saw him, but I would never have thought that it was exactly the sailboat who was in the film. I learned this completely by chance, only now.
So, today I took the camera and moved to Duncan.

This three-maht bark was built on the Hamburg shipyard "Blom and Foss", in 1933. The initial service of this vessel was called "Gorch Fock" as a naval training base in Germany.

The creation of this vessel occurred against the background of a showing country of the catastrophe in 1932, when the training base "Niobay" was sank in the storm with all the crew and cadets. "GORCH FOCK" encouraged to return confidence in the training sailboats. He was assigned to Stralsund, survived the second world war, and in May 1945, heading for the Allies, to the West, jumped by Ma and sank at the exit from the port.

In 1948, Soviet sailors raised him from the bottom, she went for three years to repair, after which he was commissioned under the name "Comrade". He became an educational base of the merchant fleet in Kherson. "Comrade" made a world journey in 1974, having encouraged Cape Horn. Two times - in 1974 and in 1976 - he won in the Atlantic regattas "Operation" Sail ". It is one of the most high-speed sailboats of modernity and the most famous in the Soviet academic sailing fleet.

On this photo, the name "Comrade" is visible, which the Germans painted when they received a sailboat back and returned to him the original name.

I never found information about how this ship got into the movies. And in general, there is very little information about him as "Duncan" from the film. Even there are no photos. On the network there is only such Excerpt.

From German sources, I learned that in 2003 the ship was returned to Germany at her request. After 54 years later, the sailboat again gained his former name and port of the city of Stralsund, as it was before. The vessel was renovated only outwardly and put on a joke as a surprise for tourists.

Today, the entrance is open. 3.50 Euro and I on board.

First of all I go to the steering wheel. So my dream came true. Although she has long overcome. But when I twisted it, a lot of children's memories flooded. Feeling inexplicable.

Then she looked through the deck.

Faithful sailors satellites.

Many Soviet equipment and various instructions in Russian have been preserved. All this is now presented as museum exhibits that have entered the history of the vessel. There are a lot of nautical maps issued in Russian. They are the only exhibits that are sold.

On this purpose, my dream with a dream of childhood was completed. I wonder what emotions would be I then, if I got a child on this ship? Dreams ... They come true, some quickly, and some time after time.

In 1985, an amazing film was released on Soviet screens - "in search of captain Grant." It was already the second film by the famous Roman Julie Verne "Children of Captain Granta" - the first one saw the light in 1936. Magnificent cast, wonderful music of the Dunaevsky ("Swimming" in a new gelection of old), spectacular scenery, stunningly beautiful landscape shooting - the film was a success In many articles.

And even though Azerbaijani actors did not participate in this film and none of the episodes of this film in Baku starred, but this film with Baku is nevertheless connected. Because one ship was filmed in the film, which was the most direct attitude towards Baku and even found his end in our city. We are talking about the famous three-volume sailboat, who played the "role" of the yacht "Duncan". He wore a beautiful name "Code" (and not "Condor", as some sources write illiterately). The sailboat received its name in honor of the Kodori River (or Code) in Abkhazia.

More precisely, the sailboat is a common name. Kodor was Bermud Schoon. True, the vessel did not have a relationship to Bermuda - this is called a certain variety of Schun because of the type of their equipment - oblique sails.

But at the dawn of his story, Shhun was directly related to another country - Finland, because they built it on the versions of this particular country. It happened in the Finnish city of Turku in 1947 (according to other data - in 1951) and "German trophy", as some lazy journalists write, who do not want to burden themselves as a search for genuine information, could not be. In general, the story of schooners and people associated with it and cities are incredibly interesting and in some way, unfortunately, Tuman.

They built her Finns like a gaffle schoon for collecting fish and the supply of fishermen in the sea - in payment of part of the contribution imposed on Finland after World War II. It is curious that at the expense of reparation debt in Finland, on request, the USSR Ministry of the Marine Fleet was built and commissioned in the period from 1946 to 1953. 102 Wooden Sailboat - 72 schooners and 30 Barketin total in the amount of $ 66.2 million (about 30% From the entire amount of reparations). Building such a quantity of wooden sailing (albeit equipped with engines) vessels in the middle of the XX century. It looks strange, but the fact remains a fact, by the way, such a large-scale construction of sailing vessels has never been conducted anymore.

Schooner turned out to be rather big: 60 m. Length, 9.5 m - width, displacement - 500 tons. Could borrow from 44 to 50 people plus 15 crew members. Identical courts were a lot, but no one had such a bright and, in general, dramatic fate, like a "codor".

In 1950, "Kodor" was converted into a wonderful training vessel with a replacement of a sailing snap-in shhuna to Bermuda. Belonging to the Leningrad Nautical School, she walked with cadets on the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the eleven seas, mostly Baltic.

Initially, the famous sailboat and yachtsman Captain A.A. commanded at this time Aroves. At one time (after going to the reserve), the head of practice on the "Code" was not someone, but the counter-admiral Nikolai Alexandrovich Lunin is a legendary submariner attacked by Tyrpitz.

"Code", this long-liver sailboat was in operation about thirty years old - a fantastic "age" for a wooden vessel, built with the calculation of the twenty-year duration of swimming! On board, there were practitioners about three thousand cadets of maritime educational institutions that later became the seaside specialists of high qualifications.

In 1983, Schooner "Kodor" was presented to the Baku Yacht Club as a gift. It was in 1983, and not after filming the film "In Search of Captain Grant", according to some sources.

When the sailboat was just overtaken in Baku, the delight of the Baku People, especially those who had attracted to the marine case, there was no limit. How, such a handsome sailboat - and we, in Baku! Everyone had the idea that he would now be attributed to the local seaworthy school. Then they said that Shhun will give "Vodnik", the yacht club of the Caspian shipping company; There, many frankly lied.

A couple of times "Kodor" took part in the "Water Sale Holidays" under the sail, and then he was sent to a military ship repair plant. However, Schoon was prepared another fate ...

But it will be later, but for now the Kodor was taken from Baku - for filming in the next film, in the very one who was discussed at the beginning: "In Search of Captain Grant".

By that time, "Kodor" was already an experienced "actor" - starred in the films "Arabella, daughter Pirate" and "Treasure Island" (1982),

and over long years - from 1971 to 1979 - played the role of Galiot "Secret", which was ruled by Captain Gray in the Greenovsky "Scarlet Sails". But he was not playing in the film, but in a grand festival in Leningrad, dedicated to graduates of schools - "Scarlet Sails". This holiday is the only celebration of such a scale dedicated to former tenth graders.

The shooting of the film "In Search of Captain Grant" was held in the Crimea and in Bulgaria - there were no coastal cliffs of such beauty on Caspians, which was needed by the director of the film Stanislav Govorukhin.

To turn the "codor" in Duncan, it had to be slightly modified, for example, to change the names on the nose and feed, install gun layout and a butt phones, because "Duncan" on the novel - a steam yacht and from the pipe should have been driving smoke. For those who understand the types of ships, Duncan looked pretty strange: this is Brig in the novel, i.e. Two-volume vessel with straight sails, and therefore bizan mast should not have, and especially Bermuda sails.

Before the buttuff is installed a false superstructure with a steering wheel. To do this, I had to dismantle the grotto-gic and, as a result, the grotto of the mast was not boring sailing weapons in the frame. Plus, they put a bench for passengers on the waist - many "decks" dialogs were removed around her.

In general, "Duncan" turned out to be very different - Bermud's yacht snap-in "Code" to the tube turned it into a very natural visual similarity of the Scottish yacht.

It was said above that the famous Soviet film is relevant to Baku only through the schooner "Kodor", however, Azerbaijani science fiction writer Alexander Khakimov got from somewhere that the Azerbaijanis still filmed Azerbaijanis. But not as actors. The fact is that walking under the sail, and even on three-volume schoon, it is not easy, but there were sailors in Baku who were able to do it. And here they were helped to manage the "codor" on the set.

After filming, "in search of Captain Grant" Kodor "returned to Baku and left him in 1986 - to participate in the filming of the film" Captain "Pilgrim" "based on the Roman Julie, the" Fifteen-year-old captain ". The "Kodor" played, of course, "the role of the whaling vessel" Pilgrim ".

After filming "Captain" Pilgrim "" "Kodor" Baku never left again. Everyone in the city continued to hope that now the sailboat will definitely give the seaworthy school. And if I do not educate, so the cum is the club of young sailors, and not the Cumeum - so yacht clubs. But if the yacht clubs did not shine such happiness, then let at least be a pleasure vessel, let the tourists rolling on the bay. Old-timers remember that there were people who are ready-made "to their" sew sails to him, painting, etc. - If only it was a "alive" sailboat ...

But there was no wonder above that another fate was prepared by the ship. Scary, ridiculous and shameful for a sailboat - become a floating cycle. I am expressed by an intelligent and restaurant. From fate you will not leave, and the Kodor has become a restaurant. Good, I must say a restaurant - many with warmth remember his good fish kitchen and cozy cabinetics.

But in the mid-80s there were plans to organize a "Caspian Caspian Cador" with a visit to the Islands of the Baku Archipelago. But something did not come around ... "And the spooling schooners," A. Haimov wrote with pain, "the hands of seamen are no longer the hands of semouflated visitors to the restaurant."

Why was the fate so much compared? They rummed that with a sailboat just did not know what to do. So decided - let there be a restaurant. And his new role "Kodor" played several years, standing on jokes in the area of \u200b\u200bformer rowing bones. And he became another Baku attraction attracting the attention of both Baku People, and even more so guests of the city.

The city authorities somehow did not take into account that it was not necessary to make a well-deserved sailboat into the restaurant, who was shot in the cinema, and was mentioned in the artistic literature - for example, in the work of Vladislav Karapivina "Frigate" ringing "." And, by the way, even on envelopes and postage stamp - in one series with the legendary "cruise", "Sedov", both "comrades" and "Vene".

And painted his different artists ...

Here is such a glorious fate ... And now - Kabak! Let the floating ...

The lines of Andrei Makarevich immediately recall: "On the shore is so lively, alright, and the water snaps like a mirage an ancient ship, a terrible whose vessel, tessit zooak and decorates the beach. ... I was there, and, on the crowd of eye, with I understood the pain in my soul, so as not to become a kind of museum, at the right moment it is better to go for the bottom. " The feeling that Makarevich wrote this song, looking at the unfortunate "Kodor" ...

According to the stories of old Baku People, there was not a single yachtsman, not a single sailor, who would be happy for such a "calm old" codor. It even reached the fact that some hot heads have gotten the idea to sip the unfortunate sailboat and expand on the rocks of Nargen Island, where the infamous ship cemetery of the Caspian Flotilla is located - to lay next to Strazhevikov, travelers and "sea hunters" the times of war. That is, like Makarevich: "It is better to go for the bottom" ... Such an idea has even repeatedly expressed, while recalled the romantic young man who cooked and broken about Brigantine, who became a restaurant in Sevastopol.

But very soon it became simply not before - the end of the 80s came, the hardest time for the republic, in Baku there was a huge number of much more sharp problems than the fate of the old sailboat.

It all ended in sadness of nowhere: in August 1999, "Kodor", which continued to serve as a restaurant, burned down. Whether it was actually a random fire, or it was not necessary to figure out now. But the fact remains the fact - the beautiful schooners did not. And it did not destroy it, but the fire ... the remains were disposed of. So ended the glorious path at first Rybatsky, then the study, then the Kinheroya vessel - "Kodor" ...

But according to the waves of our memory, a handsome sailboat "Kodor" will be saved ...

It's about the yacht "Duncan" from Roman Jules Verne "Children of Captain Grant".
I was looking for a picture and became interested - and what did he actually look like?

What was the ship "Duncan"?

Type of sailing weapons, sizes?

See illustration for the novel? There is something not, soon the Titanic will draw.

Is it possible to calculate the type of vessel in the text of the Jules Verne?

Let's try ..

So, what kind of ship was the yacht "Duncan"?
Turn to the original source.

"On July 26, 1864, with a strong northeast wind, a magnificent yacht was rushing along the northern strait. At the top of it bizan-mast The english flag was waving, and the grotto-masts were visible on the blue pennant, the gold crowns crowned with the duke crown of the initials "E.G.".
The yacht was called Duncan. "

So - Bizan-mast; As a rule, this means a 3-mast vessel (fock, grotto and bizan), but maybe two-volume (FOC / grotto and bizan) - if the ship is small and can be called "half and arm".

"Duncan yacht was a two-way brig. She had fock mast with Marseille and Bram Stone and grotto mast with counter-bizanya and flagpole; In addition, the triangular sail is a form-stixel, a large and small cliver, as well as stricken sails. In general, the "Duncana" equipment was sufficient to be controlled, like an ordinary clipper. "

So .. appeared foke- I. grotto- Machy, (and above was mentioned and mizzen- Mach, so only three ..)and this is despite the fact that "was two-volume brig".
Strange description.

Brig Such:

In the text: "She had" - Bram-Stone was, and Brahsels did not mention; it means that it was only one on the fock mast marseilles (one straight sail)? It is extremely rare, only on very small vessels.

We assume that the ship was still two-person (it should be considered up to three Jul Verne was to be able to :); But as hitcounterbizan (oblique hansel sail) ongrotto mastif counter- mizzen ?

Moreover, counterbizan is installed only if bizan-mast worth a straight sail, and on Duncan it was not, for " grotto mast with counter-bizanya and flagpole"- i.e. grotto mastmore sails were not.

Further excavations led to the phrase: "Jules Verne in Children Captain Grant applied this term incorrectly, to similar type and performed functions of grotto-trisel brig" ...

Now everything falls into place. Duncan had grotto mast, she is bizan-mast, small sizes (Not as in the picture above), and in general was a vessel of modest sizes.
Was he two-volume brig? No, if proceed from the description " had a grotto mast with counter-bizano and flagpole", i.e. on the rear mast (as it is neither calling - the grotto or bizan, anyway) was only oblique sail.

Consequently, Duncan was brigantine.

About this:

How good is the mistake of Jules Verne? Not very rude because brigantine- this is schunu-Br.r; But nevertheless is not Brig.

So here is the scheme brigantines. On Duncan were installed: 2 - Marseilleand 4 - counter-bizan, she is grott-trisel.

"Duncan under Fock, Marseille, Brahmshel, Cliversions, Counter-Bizaniu and Topsell smoothly went along the Australian coast."

It turned out and foke(1), and brahmstel(3), and topsel(5)...
Why was it "she had fock Mast with Marseille and Brother-Stengoy"- This is a question for Julia to return. Oh, these poets :).

So, Duncan was a classic brigantine.
Is the story finished? Not really.

We read in the second part, chapter 2. Tristan Yes Cun Islands: "Duncan" dissolved sails and under the focus, counter-bizanya, Marseille, Brahmshel, the leissets, the upper sails and the stixels flew forward ..

So .. appeared lesvie, sucking sails and stakel...

Lesvie- Additional side sails, put on relatively large courts (now almost not used).
Here is the level on the clip " Stud Amsterdam"(On the sides of the main sails):

For reference: Stud Amsterdam (Stad Amsterdam) is a three-person ship building in 1997 (Amsterdam), a displacement of 1083 tons.

Stakelput between mastty; There are no places on a small brigantine.
Here is Stakel by Royal Clipper. (The world's largest sailboat. Built in Gdansk - Well done Poles :), displacement 5061 tons, i.e. Gain Duncan at 24 (!) Times):

So, levels and stakes on a small brigantine? Doubtful.
But in principle, it can be.
Here, the Stayxels stand:

But Lasels are too.

" Its displacement was two hundred ten tons " (only three times more than caravel columbus water displacement) is very modest; Water displacement of Indelevory, Captain Cook ship (1794), was 386 tons.
But Dunconan had to make a world tour!

Here it is, Industor:

And Duncan was almost twice as smaller.
___

So, the yacht Duncan was more than a modest (even at the time) a brigantine, which Jules Verne gradually, fascinated by the plot (and maybe, and after making a few initial description - it is known that the author he was quite fluster :) "retired" to many That not on the shoulder would have had to brigrate.

But is it important?

Let the Duncan's sails everly noise in the souls of young and old romantics.

Whoever he, Duncan, nor was ..

The yacht returned here after a five-month swimming, during which, strictly adhering to the thirty-seventh parallels, she made round-the-world swimming. The participants of this memorable, who did not have a precedent of the expedition visited Chile, in Pampa, in the Argentine Republic, in the Atlantic Ocean, on the Islands of Tsana-Da-Kunya, in the Indian Ocean, on the Amsterdam Islands, in Australia, in New Zealand, on the island of Tabor, In the Pacific Ocean ...
