Brit Floyd Concert. Tickets for Brit Floyd

This text was to appear on the site a year ago. Then I was lucky to win on the Polish site naszemiasto.pl Two tickets to the Brit Floyd concert with the MEET & Greet package, meet the musicians of the group, visit the Soundchek and even take an interview with Damian Darlington (Damian Darlington) - Music director of the group, guitarist and vocalist in one person . It was he who created Brit Floyd in 2011, having waked before this 17 years in The Australian Pink Floyd Show.

The interview was completely not planned. I was hoping only to introduce myself to convey gratitude for speeches in Russia from our readers and find out, perhaps about plans for the future. Ask questions, the answers to which you can read on the official website of the group, I also did not want.

However, Damian was so kind that invited me to Aftershow, and we talked for more than twenty minutes about different.

I'm afraid I could not ask important issues that would help to understand the essence of tribute groups: what are the driving motives of the musicians participating in them, don't you want to create something to create something, and not copy? But I confess: Brit Floyd has changed my somewhat skeptical attitude towards the tributes that have established after the first visit to the Australian Pink Floyd Show concert. Not only by the fact that the Brit Floyd show was remembered much more, impressed and dispelled the last doubts about the feasibility of the existence of tributov. But also the attitude of musicians to their difficult work, to fans, undoubted love and respect for Pink Floyd made me see the tributes in the new light. At the time when it is difficult to wait for the living versions of your favorite compositions personally from the Pink Floyd participants, we, however, have the opportunity to hear live careful performance of almost the entire catalog of the group loving our business with musicians working for the first year, "ill for quality and performing level.

So, we are transferred at 3 November 2015. Krakow, Concert Center Ice. The entrance is going to a group of people who got the opportunity to visit the Soundchek. The organizers issue tickets, spend all in the hall. Seed in the empty hall, the group comes out and performs Hey You and US and Them. After - meeting in the lobby, photographing, non-core conversations and distribution of autographs.

Next meeting: Concert. Here are some photos.

Special audience sympathies gathered Ola Benkovska, a back-vocalist of Poland, she even talked to the public in Polish. Ian Kattell (Ian Cattell) struck his vocals, especially in The Final Cut, and artistry.

The end of the concert. Musicians distribute autographs in the lobby.

Behind the scenes is all modest. Stand drinks: beer, water, wine. More than all Rada Ola Benkovska - she is in his native Poland, her friends came to her. I'm noticeably worried. Damian Darlington asks me not to be nervous, and he himself looks very tired, takes the bank of Polish beer and sit down at the table. We start the conversation.

- Many of our visitors visited your past concerts in Russia and were delighted with them. Did you like speeches in Moscow and St. Petersburg?

- Yes, very, very much. Especially in St. Petersburg. Not that in Moscow there was something wrong, but the Petersburg speech was better.

- This time you did not speak in Kiev for some reasons.

- Yes, we did not play there for two years, from 2013. You know, obviously, with all the events that occurred in Ukraine in these last two years: there are not much money in the country, promoters do not want to take risks and organize concerts there ... We are dependent on local organizers. They are afraid to take risks and think that they will not be able to sell tickets and all that. So we can not go.

- I was at the concert The Australian Pink Floyd Show in Kiev ...

- In 2008

- OK. Well, I was there, I played this show.

- There is a difference between your shows.

- Yes, my best! This is the main difference (laughs).

- I agree. Personally, I liked Brit Floyd more than the classic interpretation of Pink Floyd. You prefer the original versions, as they sound in the records of the group?

- Sometimes yes, but not always. I make decisions, should we try to sound like an original plate, the original album, or sometimes I would prefer the live version, like in Pulse or Delicate Sound of Thunder. Or even solo versions, like Waters, for example. The version of Set The Controls, which we played, looks more like the Roger Waters played, for example. So I make decisions, and in a certain sense, this is my own preferences and what, in my opinion, we will be more successful. Those versions in which we, as a group of musicians, we show themselves best as performers.

- Do you personally like Waters or Gilmor's concerts?

- They are very different. I think Gilmor's concerts are more intimate than Roger Waters Concerts. They are more relaxed.

Roger Waters still focuses on huge spectacular productions. The Wall visually was incredible show. I saw his show a couple of times when he drove Dark Side in 2007, - I saw the show twice. Again, it was much more entertaining.

The only time I saw David Gilmore sololy, was a month ago in London. I saw him with Pink Floyd in 1988, 1994 and on Live 8, when he played with Roger Waters. And these shows were also more relaxed, more intimate. I think David Gilmore lays the album, then goes to the stage with his friends - it seems that for him it is all pleasure.

- Did you like the album of Gilmor Rattle That Lock?

- Yes, liked. He is not my favorite, but there are beautiful moments there. I think that from his solo albums I liked on An Island. But it's fine that he still produces albums. He will be 70 next year. This is what should be celebrated: David Gilmore still produces albums in 2015!

- Speaking of celebrations: you performed on the 50th anniversary of David.

- Yes, yes. Long ago, of course. It was with Australian Pink Floyd Show, in the early hours.

The first year, when I played with Australian Pink Floyd Show, was the 1994th. Pink Floyd still performed with a tour of Pulse. We played a concert in London in September of that year, and David Gilmore came to look at the concert. We did not know that he was there, it was a surprise, and then he appeared behind the scenes after the concert, knocked on the door: David Gilmore here. It was a stunning surprise! In addition, he invited us to Earls Court to a party about the end of the Tour of The Division Bell, and we went there and spent excellent time and all that.

Two years later, we called us. It was his wife, half of Samson, she asked, we would be interested to play on his 50th anniversary. So it was her idea.

- So was it a surprise for him?

- Initially, yes, but I think that the day before he learned that we would play.

- What is your favorite Pink Floyd album?

- I think The Wall: He was my "introduction" in Pink Floyd. He was the first thing I heard at the age of 13. So he stuck in my favorite. After I heard Dark Side of The Moon, Animals, Wish You Were Here. I love all these albums too. There is another album with which I have a special connection - this is The Final Cut. It was the newest album that Pink Floyd came out at that time, when I just became a fan. I was 14 years old when he came out. It was an exciting - the release of a new album.

- As for us, The Endless River.

- I think The Final Cut is much more exciting than the Endless River! (laughs)

- You do not like the Endless River? (during a break at the concert, the first part of The Endless River sounded - approx. zuli)

- I like it, I really like it. I think he is very cleverly made. But this is not a truly album Pink Floyd in the classical sense. It is more instrumental. This is a good chillout album. This is an album of such a variety that you can simply turn it on and listen. This is not the album in which many things that are suitable in order to play them alive on stage.

- But you played.

- We played Louder Than Words. This is the only track with the words. But the rest of the things ... they are instrumental, they are ambient. So this is not a very good album for live performance.

- What song do you like to play most? Challenging?

- The most difficult - things like Dogs, Echoes are long epics, they experience abilities. It is quite often difficult for the game early things when you find that when they created this music, they still studied themselves to be musicians. It is difficult to successfully fulfill such a plan musical naivety if you understand what I mean.

- However, you performed See Emily Play. Is it because you want to cover the whole story Pink Floyd or just like this thing?

"I think it is important to imagine the whole era, because without some periods there would be no Pink Floyd. This part of which they were and who they became like a group. LED Barrett wrote these early things. It is important to submit them. We can't include in Seth All: Pink Floyd songs are quite long, and people want to hear Dark Side, The Wall, Wywh, maybe The Division Bell and something like that, but we still do trying to play something out early.

- What are your future plans? Do you want to change something in the program? Maybe you think to play something from the early as a complete suite?

- When it comes to playing the entire album, that is, certain rules in connection with Pink Floyd albums: if we want to play a complete album, then we must receive permission for it. This applies not only to us or to Australian Pink Floyd Show, but also to everyone who wants to do it. So what we do as we did today - half of the album. The first half of the Dark Side and the second half of The Wall. I think that making a mixture of albums is not bad, and we did it in the past: a little Dark Side, Animals, Wywh, The Wall, The Division Bell - I think it's good. Because I think some of the Pink Floyd things lose meaning if you do not play what goes in front of them, and what follows them, in the original. As we played Have A Cigar today and Wish You Were Here Here - we played exactly as on the album, she flows one after another.

- Yes, it was a wonderful moment.

- And I think it is good to do it, and not to crop songs on one, mixing them in different ways.

- What do you think about when David Gilmore or Roger Waters perform things very differently and not as you are accustomed?

- Of course, I sometimes like it very much how they fulfill some things. SET The Sontrols is an example of things where I really like, as Waters played. The same applies to Welcome to the Machine. I really like how Roger Waters played her on in The Flesh. The sound was more powerful than on the original. For sure there are versions that, as I think, will better sound alive as David Gilmore and Roger Waters are performed. Echoes, for example. I like how David Gilmor fulfilled her. When we perform echoes, we take some elements from how David Gilmor played her.

- You need some permissions for the video for the screen, can you use the original versions?

- The only original video Pink Floyd was Louder Than Words. And anyway, we are allowed to change it. Everything else is a recreation. Obviously, with Wish You Were Here, we have a video Pink Floyd, there are photos. There are Arnold Layne. But Animation The Wall, they are all recreated by Brian (Bryan Kolupski) - this guy is now looking at his phone. Even if you think that these are original Pink Floyd animations, then this is not like this: we recreate them.

- Yes, I noticed that this is not pinkfodovskaya animations. The reason for this is legislative restrictions?

- No, we did not specifically forbid the use of original video. We simply decided to recreate the video. The same is the same with sound effects. In fact, during the show there are only a few sounds that we took from Pink Floyd. But most of the effects are recreated so close as possible.

- Do you listen to music Pink Floyd at home just like that for relaxation?

"Not that I don't like to do this because of what I am busy." You inevitably find yourself choosing some pieces instead of listening to pleasure only. You start analyzing: "Wow, vo, stop, we play here so this guitar, it is wrong." The hearing becomes a technical exercise. Unfortunately! But it is inevitable, given what I do and how long - for more than twenty years.

- Is it hard for you? You play a show in every city every day.

- Of course, ride a tour is hard work. As every profession in life, and this is undoubtedly a profession. But there are posses and cons. Infinite travels, life on the suitcases becomes tedious, and, of course, you donate things that concern your family, because you are far from home so often. These are cons. The light sides are to play this wonderful music, collect the audience in the halls, who loves what you are doing.

Thank you Damiana for an interview, I apologize that the time is already later and I have to go home, go through the backyards of the concert hall and going on the road vans in the fog Krakow Smog. Musicians will travel by bus to Prague, where the next day a new concert is scheduled.

At the end, Damian Darlington said that Brit Floyd will arrive in Russia in 2016 with a new program. Two Russian concerts are stated in the tour: one in Moscow and one in St. Petersburg. In the set list, in addition to the main hits of Pink Floyd, there are songs from the first part of the album a Momentary Lapse of Reason, as well as Poles Apart, One of These Days and Echoes!
