How many times and in what years has Russia won Eurovision. Is there life after? What do the winners of the Eurovision of the past years Statistics of the countries of victories at the Eurovision

Eurovision results are always awaited with trepidation all over the world. After all, this is not just a singing competition, it is also a grandiose show, as well as a symbol of the unity of all European countries. So it is not at all surprising that almost every person in Europe always watches Eurovision with bated breath and every country cheers for its performer, hoping that he will get the victory this year. But in the end, the victory goes to someone alone, and the inhabitants of other countries can only rejoice that the next one has found its recognition. In addition, as they say, it is not so much the victory that is important, but the participation. But, nevertheless, let's get acquainted with the list of Eurovision winners by years, which sunk into the hearts of millions of people.

List of Eurovision winners

Since the Eurovision Song Contest has been held since 1956, it is completely unrealistic to remember each of the participants, and it is also difficult to even remember those who won the Eurovision Song Contest. Although someone probably remembers that it was thanks to the victory in this competition that the ABBA group and singer Celine Dion became famous. But since we are now in the twenty-first century, let's just remember all the victories at Eurovision over the past fourteen years.

2000 - Olsen Brothers. Danish pop-rock duo consisting of the two Olsen brothers, Jurgen and Niels. Subsequently, during the competition dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the competition itself, their song, with which the duo performed in 2000, took sixth place in the list of the best songs ever performed on the Eurovision stage. Definitely something to be proud of.

2001 - Tanel Padar, Dave Benton and 2XL. Estonian singer duo with a hip-hop group on backing vocals (2XL). Tanel and Dave brought their country the first ever victory at the Eurovision Song Contest. Also, after winning the competition, Tanel Padar became one of the most famous rock singers in Estonia.

2002 - Marie N. Latvian singer of Russian origin Maria Naumova was the first Eurovision winner whose song was not published anywhere outside the country. In 2003, Maria was the host of the Eurovision Song Contest, held in Riga.

2003 - Sertab Erener. Eurovision winner Sertab Erener is one of the most successful and famous Turkish pop singers. Her song was placed ninth on the list of the best Eurovision songs, which was compiled during the 50th anniversary of the contest.

2004 - Ruslana. The performance of this Ukrainian singer in 2004 made a splash at the competition due to its incendiary nature. In the same year, Ruslana was awarded the title of People's Artist of Ukraine for winning Eurovision.

2005 - Elena Paparizou. Greek singer. In 2001, she already participated in the competition, but then she sang as part of the Antique group and this group took third place. And in 2005, Elena performed her number solo and eventually achieved what she wanted - victory.

2006 - Lordi. This Finnish hard rock band shocked everyone with their unusual appearance. The band members always perform in costumes and monster masks, which look quite realistic. And their repertoire is ironic songs about all sorts of horrors.

2007 - Maria Sherifovich. Serbian singer who won the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Prayer" performed in Serbian, in contrast to the more usual English for this competition.

2008 - Dima Bilan. This year, luck has smiled on the Russian pop singer Dima Bilan. It was the first and so far the only victory of Russia at Eurovision, but how brilliant it was!

2009 - Alexander Rybak. Singer and violinist of Belarusian origin, representing Norway at the competition. This winner of the Eurovision Song Contest scored a record number of points in history.

2010 - Lena Meyer-Landrut. The German singer participated in Eurovision twice: in 2010, winning and in 2011, losing to another country.

2011 - Ell & Nikki. Azerbaijani duet, including Eldar Gasimov and Nigar Jamal.

2012 - Lauryn. Quite a popular Swedish singer, who has Moroccan-Berber roots. The girl won the Eurovision Song Contest by a fairly large margin, leaving behind the participants from Russia.

2013 - Emmy de Forest. The Danish singer, who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013, has been fond of singing since childhood, and therefore her victory is not at all surprising. In addition, even at the very beginning of the competition, she was already predicted to win.

2014 – . This year's Eurovision winner from Austria Conchita Wurst came as a real shock to many people. No one expected to see a bearded singer at the competition, and no one predicted her victory. Conchita's real name is Thomas Neuwirth. And, despite the public unrest, it cannot be denied that the image of a woman with a beard was really unusual, and Thomas's voice is very strong and interesting.

Ask any music lover in what year Russia won Eurovision, and he will tell you without hesitation that the only, and therefore especially memorable, year when, from the second take, Dima Bilan, with the song "Believe", defended the honor of the country at the popular all-European song contest and won 1st place. Thanks to this victory, for the first time in the history of Eurovision, Russia hosted the participants and guests of the next year's contest in Moscow. Unfortunately, neither before nor after Dima Bilan, none of the Russian singers has achieved such success. Let's remember how it was.

Russia's participation in Eurovision

For a long time, Russia as part of the USSR was behind the Iron Curtain separating the Soviet Union from the rest of the world. Therefore, such cultural events as the Eurovision Song Contest did not influence or affect Russians in any way from the time the song contest was founded in 1956 until 1994, when for the first time Russian Maria Katz performed at the contest and took a high enough place for a debutant country - 9- oh.

Since then, relations between Russia and Eurovision have evolved sometimes dramatically, and sometimes very successfully. The most successful year was 2008, when Russia won Eurovision for the first and only time in the history of its participation in this contest - then it brought victory.

There were then and before that quite successful performances:

  • Competitors from Russia took the honorable 2nd place 4 times. Alsu was the first to rise so high, then Dima Bilan consolidated this result, and then the unforgettable ones pulled themselves up, closed this procession.
  • 3rd place was awarded to the groups Tatu and Silver, and later became one of the "bronze winners".

How Russia was not allowed to Eurovision because of Alla and Philip

But I must say that not everything went so smoothly at this hyper-popular competition. There were two failed performances - both failures are associated with the performance of the "royal" couple of the Russian stage Philip Kirkorov and Alla Pugacheva. Philip took 17th place, while Alla slightly improved this result and took only 15th place. These events not only showed the failure of the Russian stage and its lack of competitiveness, but did a disservice to the new contenders. Russia was not allowed to participate in the competition in 1998, as there was a shortage of passing points due to the low rating of previous performers. Russia (represented by the leadership of the Ostankino TV and Radio Company) was offended and did not broadcast the competition, for which it lost the right to participate in the next year.

The future of Russia in the next competition

Let's hope that all these failures are behind us forever, and only successful performances of our singers are ahead of us, and very soon Russia will again take first place, and to the question "How many times has Russia won Eurovision?" we will proudly answer 5 or even 10 times.

Dreaming, of course, is not harmful. And it's not such an impossible dream. England, Luxembourg and France, for example, have won this competition 5 times. Ireland - 7 times, Sweden - 6 times. As you can see, there is nothing impossible in this.

In 2017, Eurovision takes Kyiv, after last year. I would very much like this to have no effect on Russia's participation in the competition. After all, there should be "flies separately, and cutlets separately." The guns should be silenced when the music is playing, and we hope they will be.

The Eurovision Song Contest is a pop song contest among member countries of the European Broadcasting Union. In total, 60 Eurovision Song Contests have been held throughout history, and 63 songs have become winners. The winner of the competition is the song with the highest number of points given by other Eurovision participating countries.

Vzglyad.az decided to recall the winners of Eurovision over the past 10 years:

Eurovision 2005. Ukraine

For the first time, the winner was a representative from Russia - Dima Bilan with the song "Believe".

Russian singer Dima Bilan (name at birth and until June 2008 - Viktor Belan) was born on December 24, 1981. He represented Russia at Eurovision in 2006 with the song "Never let you go" (2nd place) and in 2008 with the song "Believe", taking 1st place and becoming the first Russian artist to win the Eurovision Song Contest.

Eurovision 2009. Russia

The Eurovision Song Contest 2009 was the 54th Eurovision Song Contest. It was held from May 12 to May 16 at the Olimpiysky Sports Complex in Moscow (Russia).

This year, an absolute quantitative record was set in the history of Eurovision - the winner of the competition Alexander Rybak scored 387 points with the song "Fairytale" in the final.

French star Patricia Kaas participated in the competition. Famous in Europe Arash together with Aysel played for Azerbaijan.

Alexander Rybak was born on May 13, 1986. Norwegian singer and violinist of Belarusian origin won the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow.

After winning on December 11, 2009, Alexander Rybak performed at the Nobel Concert in Oslo along with world-famous stars, where he performed the song "Fairytale" in a new arrangement with a symphony orchestra.

He was the guest of honor at the Eurovision selection rounds in Finland, Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia and performed his new song "Heavens of Europe".

Eurovision 2010. Norway

The Eurovision Song Contest 2010 is the 55th Eurovision Song Contest. It was held from 25 to 29 May at the Telenor Arena in Berum, a suburb of the Norwegian capital Oslo. This is the third Eurovision Song Contest hosted by Norway.

The winner of the 2010 competition was Lena Meyer-Landrut from Germany with the song "Satellite".

Lena Meyer-Landrut was born on May 23, 1991. The German singer, also known by her stage name Lena, is the winner of the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo.

The future star began taking dance lessons from the age of 5. Mayer-Landrut has played supporting roles in some German television series, but has never been formally trained in acting or singing.

March 12, 2010 Lena Mayer-Landrut won the right to represent her country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 in Oslo with the song "Satellite". Being a representative of one of the countries of the Big Four, Lena automatically ended up in the final of the competition.

Germany decides to send Lena to Eurovision once again, but now in their own country. The singer again performed immediately in the final of Eurovision 2011 with the song "Taken by A Stranger", in Düsseldorf at the Esprit Arena on May 14 and took 10th place.

Eurovision 2011. Germany

The Eurovision Song Contest 2011 was the 56th Eurovision Song Contest held in Germany (Düsseldorf).

The winners of this competition were the representatives of Azerbaijan Eldar Gasimov and Nigar Jamal (performed under the pseudonyms Ell and Nikki), who performed the song "Running Scared" ("Run without looking back"), gaining 221 points as a result of voting.

Azerbaijani singer Eldar Parviz oglu Gasimov was born on June 4, 1989 in Baku. On the paternal side, he is a descendant of famous Azerbaijani Soviet actors. From 1995 to 2006 he studied at the school and at the music school in piano, which he graduated with honors.

In 2004 and 2008, Eldar won scholarships to study in Germany under a student exchange program. In 2008 he studied vocals, acting and stage speech at the German vocal school. In 2010, Eldar Gasimov graduated with honors from the Faculty of International Relations of the Baku Slavic University.

In 2011, the musician, in a duet with Nigar Jamal, won the Azerbaijani selection for Eurovision, and got the opportunity to represent his country at Eurovision 2011.

Nigar Aydin kyzy Jamal is an Azerbaijani singer, born on September 7, 1980 in Baku. From 1985 to 1986 she was a soloist in a children's ensemble, and while studying at a music school (1988-1995) she composed several songs. She graduated from Khazar University with a degree in Economics and Management. Since 2005 lives in London.

In 2011, together with Eldar Qasimov, she participated in the Azerbaijani selection for Eurovision - Milli Seçim Turu 2010. The duet won the competition, and this provided an opportunity for Nigar and Eldar to represent Azerbaijan at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Germany. The duet won a landslide victory.

Eurovision 2012. Azerbaijan

The Eurovision Song Contest 2012 was the 57th Eurovision Song Contest. It was held in the capital of Azerbaijan, in the city of Baku, in the Baku Crystal Hall specially built for the festival.

The first place in the competition was taken by Lorin (Sweden) with the song "Euphoria" ("Euphoria"), gaining 372 points in the voting of the jury and viewers.

Loreen Zineb Noka Tagliaoui, also known as Loreen, is a Swedish singer of Moroccan-Berber origin, born on October 16, 1983 in Stockholm. She began her musical career in 2004 by participating in the famous Swedish music competition Idol 2004, where she took fourth place.

On March 10, 2012, Loreen won the popular Swedish TV contest "Melodifestivalen", which gave her the right to represent her country in the annual Eurovision Song Contest. The contest song "Euphoria" was performed in the second semi-final, and in the final won an undeniable victory.

Eurovision 2013. Sweden

The Eurovision Song Contest 2013 was the 58th Eurovision Song Contest, which took place in Malmö, Sweden, at the Malmö Arena.

Denmark participated for the 42nd time in the Eurovision Song Contest. Danish singer Emmylie Charlotte de Forest represented Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with the song "Only Teardrops" ("Only Tears") and won first place with 281 points.

The composition became victorious at the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2013 festival, which allowed its performer to go to the competition. The victory deservedly went to a young, but incredibly talented singer, who was only 19. Despite her young age, she has a very solid performance experience, the singer has been singing all her adult life, Emmy has a number of victories in music competitions behind her. According to Emmily herself, she began to sing before talking. As a child, she successfully performed in the church choir, and at the age of 14 she went on her first tour with the Danish musician Fraser Neil.

The composition, which was performed by Emmilie de Forest - "Only Teardrops" - was written by the singer herself.

Eurovision 2014. Denmark

The 59th Eurovision Song Contest was held in Denmark from 6 to 10 May. The blue-blue diamond became the symbol of Eurovision 2014.

In 2014, the winner of the competition unexpectedly for everyone - and for himself too - was the 25-year-old singer from Austria, Thomas Neuwirth, who performed under the stage name Conchita Wurst. In the final, she scored 290 points with the song "Rise Like a Phoenix", 52 points ahead of her nearest competitor - the duet "The Common Linnets" from the Netherlands, who scored 238 points.

Eurovision 2014 as a whole turned out to be the strongest in recent years. Over the past 10 years, Eurovision has received a lot of criticism, and some countries seemed to deliberately send out frankly second-rate artists to the competition.

Thomas Neuwirth is an Austrian gay singer who, with the help of his stage image of a bearded woman, fights for tolerance and equality of all people, regardless of their appearance.

This image is three years old; Neuwirth in the form of Wurst - a bearded and stylishly dressed vamp - could go to Eurovision 2012, but took second place in the national selection.

The musician himself separates himself and the singer he created - this is how, however, all artists who work with characters of a different (and their own) gender do. You can remember, for example, Verka Serduchka, who was invented by Andrey Danilko from Ukraine and who recorded albums in this image, starred in films, represented his country at Eurovision 2007 and even took second place there.

The choice of Europe can hardly be considered demonstrative - objectively Conchita Wurst, despite the beard, was the most feminine of the artists participating in this year's competition, and possessed perhaps the most outstanding vocal abilities in comparison with other contestants.

Eurovision 2015. Austria

The final of Eurovision 2015 was held in the Austrian capital Vienna on 23 May.

According to the results of the 12-point evaluation scale, Mons Zelmerlev became the winner of Eurovision 2015 with the song Heroes. He scored 365 points and broke away from Russia, which remained in second place.

Mons Zelmerlev was born on June 13, 1986 in the Swedish city of Lund into a family of doctors. His father, Sven-Olaf Zelmerlev, worked as a surgeon, and his mother, Bridget Salen, is a professor in the field of speech pathologies. The boy grew up on the music of Michael Jackson and Elton John. At first, Mons learned to play the piano, but he soon got bored with this instrument, and he changed it to the guitar.

In 2002, Mons took part in the filming of the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, where he got a small role as one of Joseph's eleven brothers.

At nineteen, the young man did not yet have a clear idea of \u200b\u200bwhat he would do in the future. At that time, a friend of Mons persuaded him to go to Stockholm (Sweden) and audition for the talent show Idol 2005, where he took fifth place, and, to his surprise, Mons Zelmerlev passed the qualifying round, singing Enrique Iglesias' song. It was the first time the guy visited the capital of Sweden. The singer did not manage to win this competition.

The next dream of the artist was a big European tour with his team. To implement it, Mons Zelmerlev took part in the Eurovision 2015 qualifying round and successfully passed it. True, only the third attempt was successful, before that the musician had not passed the casting twice, the last time in 2009. At Eurovision 2015, Mons Zelemerlev performed the song Heroes.

In addition to his musical career, Mons took part in the dubbing of cartoons. So, the voice of a popular singer was spoken by Lem from Planet 51, as well as Flynn Rider from the cartoon fairy tale Rapunzel: Tangled.

Lordi

The year 2006 was also rich in surprises. The record number of points - 292 - was received by a Finnish rock band Lordi. Even before the competition, the musicians caused a big buzz in the media with their monster masks and a song performed in the tradition of hard rock. After their victory "Eurovision" jokingly called "Monstervision".

In 2008, it was finally the turn to rejoice in Russia. On the "Eurovision-2008" to Belgrade with a song Believe and a large "support group" came Dima Bilan(33). For the singer, this was the second chance to win, since for the first time, in 2006, she went to the Finns Lordi. The singer performed in the company of a Hungarian virtuoso violinist Edwin Marton(41) and the famous figure skater Evgenia Plushenko(32). According to the results of the audience SMS voting Russia scored 272 points. Thanks to this victory Moscow for the first time became the capital of the 54th competition "Eurovision".

Alexander Rybak

Predictable and expected "Eurovision-2009" in Russia the winner was a candidate from Norway Belarusian origin Alexander Rybak(29) with a song Fairytale. A simple but sincere performance of a boy with a violin took the whole soul Europe: he scored 387 points, which is an absolute record in the history of the competition. The highest score was awarded to the winner by 15 countries.

Lena Meyer-Landrut

The victory predicted by bookmakers also went to the German singer Lene Meyer-Landrut(23). Literally a week after winning the national selection, the video for the song Satellite garnered over 2.5 million views on Internet(and by the time of the first semi-final - more than 9.7 million). As a result, Lena scored 246 points.

Conchita Wurst

But, perhaps, the loudest event of the competition was the victory Conchita Wurst(26) in 2014, who attracted attention not only for her facial hair, but also for her strong voice and energy.

Well, now we sincerely hope that the next bright winner Eurovision will be beautiful (28)!

The Eurovision Song Contest has been held since 1956. Countries send young performers or artists already known in their home countries there. For example, for ABBA and Celine Dion, the competition was an important step in their careers. But popularity in one's own country does not guarantee a high place. In 1997, Alla Pugacheva represented Russia and took 15th place out of 25.
