The purity of children's emotions, the unique spirit of competition, its own original format and a kaleidoscope of young talents - all this is about the author's program of one of the most popular leading 90s Yuri Nikolaev "Morning Star".

Twelve years in the sky of television

Today it is already possible to say with certainty that the "Morning Star" is a unique project. If modern programs of such a competitive format are Russified analogues of the original Western projects, then the Sunday morning show of Yuri Nikolaev was entirely a domestic product.

The beginning of the 90s was characterized by an obvious crisis, both for domestic cinema and television. Without gaining government support and not finding private sponsors, Yuri Nikolaev was forced to take a huge risk, taking all financial issues upon himself.

The audience saw the first edition of the television competition on March 7, 1991, and since then the program has been aired every Sunday morning. The clear format and bright talented youth made the "Morning Star" popular. Every week, new stars were waiting for the viewer, combining that unique spark of talent combined with childish spontaneity and youthful naivety.

The rules of the competition were simple: in the nomination were presented about two performers, and after the performance of both, the jury, consisting of four people, gave marks on a 5-point scale. The participant with the highest total number of points went further, the less successful competitor dropped out of the game.

The competition program included two main genres - vocal and dance. The competitors were divided into two age groups: the youngest - from 3 to 15 years old and the older - from 15 to 22. A little later, the folklore genre appeared, and it was the "Morning Star" that presented the magic folk voice of Pelageya for the first time to the audience. In the early years of the broadcast, a competition for young TV presenters was also held, but due to the less entertainment, this nomination quickly outlived its usefulness.

Throughout all 12 years, Yuri Nikolaev was the irreplaceable presenter. Even at the beginning of his journey, it was decided to take some young talent as the second entertainer. At various times, Y. Malinovskaya, M. Bogdanova, M. Skobeleva and others have been co-hosts of the Morning Star television project. The lively girls were in no way inferior to the solid Nikolaev and the presenters always looked very harmonious.

Instead of an afterword

By the early 2000s, the popularity of the TV project began to fall, neither the updated decorations nor the new competition rules helped. "Morning Star" changed its registration, moving from Channel One to TVC, and on November 16, 2003 the last release of the program took place.

New talent shows have flooded television, more scandalous and attractive to the general audience. However, it was the "Morning Star" that first opened to the public talented young people, whose names would later thunder in the sky of Russian pop music. Among them are Ani Lorak, Sergey Lazarev, the Lyceum group, Valeria, Vlad Topalov, Tatu, Yulia Nachalova and many others.

Despite the fact that the program has not existed for more than 11 years, the author of the project, Yuri Nikolaev, still hopes to revive the "Morning Star", seeing in the program a huge educational and motivational value. But for now, these plans remain plans ...

Competition rules

The competition was attended by 2 performers. The participants were divided into 4 genres: vocal genre (ages 3 to 15), dance genre (ages 15 to 22), vocal genre (ages 15 to 22) and dance genre (ages 3 to 15). The performances of the participants were evaluated by a jury of four people. The assessment was carried out on a 5-point system, then the leading of these assessments calculated the amount of points received by the participants in the competition. The participant who received the highest amount went to the next round, the participant who received the lower number of points dropped out of the competition. If the participants scored the same amount of points, then the presenter asked the contestants to alternately sing a verse from a song or dance a fragment from a dance. Then he turned to the jury members to recalculate the assessments of the participants. If, after recalculation, the sum of points is the same, then both participants passed to the next round. Also in 1991-1992, the program included a competition for TV presenters among girls. In this competition, the presenter Yuri Nikolaev chose the participants not for the role of their co-hosts, but for applicants who could work on television. First, a video clip of the participant was shown on the screens installed in the hall, and then the participant went on stage, accompanied by the presenter. Then there was a short conversation (usually the participants answered the questions of the presenter), after which the jury gave marks to each of the participants. There was also a competition "Freestail," led by Maria Bogdanova. After changing the partner of Yuri Nikolaev, the competition was canceled. Also, the program, together with the New Names Foundation, held a competition for young performers of classical music, which was evaluated in the same way as the variety one. The scenery has changed in the program since 1993. The screens disappeared, and instead of them the stave appeared. The rules of the competition have also changed. The participant who scored a large amount of points approached the stave and, using notes with numbers, chose an opponent for himself, with whom he was to perform in the next round. Also, the children's vocal genre was divided into two categories: from 3 to 9 years old and from 9 to 15 years old, and a folklore competition was added.

Closing the transfer

In 2002, the general director of Channel One, Konstantin Ernst, in spite of any persuasions of Yuri Nikolaev, took off the air "Morning Star", which, in his opinion, could prevent the viewer from perceiving the new project "Star Factory". The program moved to the TVC channel, where it aired for a year. The last episode of the program was released on August 3, 2003.

On October 3, 2016, the renewal of the program was announced and the website of the competition was opened now for admission to the semifinals. It is necessary to collect the majority of votes of registered Internet users. New nominations have been added: cinema, freestyle and family

Morning Star excerpt (TV show)

“Countess,” came the count's voice from behind the door. - Are you awake? - Natasha jumped up barefoot, grabbed her shoes and ran to her room.
She could not sleep for a long time. She kept thinking that no one can understand everything that she understands and what is in her.
"Sonya?" she thought, looking at the sleeping, curled up kitty with her huge braid. “No, where is she! She is virtuous. She fell in love with Nikolenka and doesn't want to know anything else. Mom, she doesn't understand either. It's amazing how smart I am and how ... she is sweet, "she continued, speaking to herself in the third person and imagining that this is being said about her by some very smart, smartest and nicest man ..." Everything, everything in her is - continued this man, - unusually clever, sweet and then good, unusually good, dexterous, - swims, rides well, and his voice! You can say an amazing voice! " She sang her favorite musical phrase from the Cherubin's opera, threw herself on the bed, laughed at the joyful thought that she would fall asleep now, shouted to Dunyasha to put out the candle, and before Dunyasha had time to leave the room, she had already passed into another, even happier world of dreams where everything was as easy and beautiful as in reality, but it was even better, because it was different.

The next day the Countess, having invited Boris to her place, talked to him, and from that day on he stopped visiting the Rostovs.

On the 31st of December, on the eve of the new year 1810, le reveillon [night supper], there was a ball at the Catherine's grandee. The ball was supposed to be a diplomatic corps and a sovereign.
On the Promenade des Anglais, the famous house of the nobleman shone with countless illumination lights. At the lighted entrance with a red cloth stood the police, and not only gendarmes, but a police chief at the entrance and dozens of police officers. The carriages drove away, and new ones arrived, with red footmen and footmen in feathers on their hats. Men in uniforms, stars and ribbons emerged from the carriages; ladies in satin and ermines cautiously walked down the noisy steps, and hurriedly and soundlessly walked along the cloth of the entrance.
Almost every time a new carriage arrived, there was a whisper in the crowd and hats were taken off.
- Sovereign? ... No, minister ... prince ... envoy ... Can't you see the feathers? ... - said from the crowd. One of the crowd, dressed better than the others, seemed to know everyone, and called by name the noblest nobles of that time.
Already one third of the guests had arrived at this ball, and the Rostovs, who were supposed to be at this ball, were still hastily preparing for dressing.
There was a lot of talk and preparations for this ball in the Rostov family, there were many fears that the invitation would not be received, the dress would not be ready, and everything would not be arranged the way it was needed.
Together with the Rostovs went to the ball Marya Ignatievna Peronskaya, a friend and relative of the Countess, a thin and yellow maid of honor of the old court, leading the provincial Rostovs in the highest Petersburg society.
At 10 o'clock in the evening the Rostovs were supposed to call for the maid of honor at the Tauride Garden; and meanwhile it was already five minutes to ten, and the young ladies were not yet dressed.
Natasha went to the first big ball in her life. She got up that day at 8 o'clock in the morning and was in feverish anxiety and activity all day. All her forces, from the very morning, were directed to ensure that they all: she, mother, Sonya were dressed as best as possible. Sonya and the Countess vouched completely to her. The countess was supposed to be wearing a masaka velvet dress, they were wearing two white smoky dresses on pink, silk covers with roses in a corsage. The hair had to be combed a la grecque [in Greek].
Everything essential had already been done: the legs, arms, neck, ears were already especially carefully, according to the ballroom, washed, perfumed and powdered; they were already shod with silk fishnet stockings and white satin shoes with bows; the hairstyles were almost finished. Sonya finished dressing, and so did the Countess; but Natasha, who was busy with everyone, fell behind. She was still sitting in front of the mirror in a dressing-gown draped over her slender shoulders. Sonya, already dressed, stood in the middle of the room, pressing her small finger painfully, pinning the last ribbon squealing under the pin.
“Not so, not so, Sonya,” said Natasha, turning her head from her hair and clutching at the hair with her hands, which the maid who held them did not have time to let go. - Not so bow, come here. - Sonya sat down. Natasha split the tape differently.
“Excuse me, young lady, you can't do that,” said the maid, who was holding Natasha's hair.
- Oh, my God, well after! That's it, Sonya.
- Are you soon? - the countess's voice was heard, - it's ten now.
- Now. - Are you ready, Mom?
- Just pin it.
- Don't do it without me, - Natasha shouted: - you won't be able to!
- Yes, ten.
It was decided to be at the ball at half past ten, while Natasha still had to get dressed and stop by the Tauride Garden.
Having finished her hair, Natasha, in a short skirt, from under which she could see the ballroom shoes, and in her mother's blouse, ran up to Sonya, examined her, and then ran to her mother. Turning her head, she pinned the current, and, barely having time to kiss her gray hair, again ran to the girls who were hemming her skirt.
The matter was behind Natasha's skirt, which was too long; it was hemmed by two girls, hastily biting off the thread. The third, with pins in her lips and teeth, ran from the countess to Sonya; the fourth held the entire smoky dress on her hand held high.
- Mavrusha, rather, my dear!

The "Morning Star" rose in the spring of 1991 and shone for 12 long years, inviting children to musical festivals on Sundays. The first broadcast, which aired on March 7, became a kind of gift to all mothers and grandmothers for International Women's Day. And it was real happiness - to admire the children, admire their successes!

If the stars are lit, then someone needs it. The transmission has become not only necessary, but necessary. The country is on the eve of disintegration, chaos and chaos reign, the shelves in the shops are empty - "Chef, everything is gone!" The Morning Star became a straw for that time, which allowed me to distract myself, and rejoice, and believe in the future. And so we with great pleasure dropped everything, sat down at the screens, followed the competition program and selected young talented heroes for ourselves.
Everything in the program amazed everyone - the scenery, the script, the rules of the competition, and, of course, the live sound. But what about the young contenders for victory? They simply touched adults, admired their peers when they tried on the role of pop performers in a completely childish way!
Parents represented their children as participants, and they, in turn, dreamed of the stage and their finest hour. And if about other programs, the statements of viewers could be divided into good and bad, then there were no two opinions - everything was fine and great!
Contestants performed in song and dance genres in two age categories. It turned out 4 rounds, two participants took part in each. The performer with the most points passed to the next stage. The competition was evaluated by a representative jury, which included popular artists. This fact inspired the participants and spurred them on, as if they were taking over from the older generation.
The program also included creative competitions for classical music performers. And for the first time in years, a contest of TV presenters among girls was held. So we can say with confidence that the "Morning Star" was the forge of pop and television shots.
TV viewers wanted to see all the kids winners. After all, they all tried, gave all the best. But competition is competition. And it was so nice to see that even the losers were not ignored - they were the ones who were given gifts.
We evaluated the feasibility of a completely unique transmission a little later. When literally in front of our eyes the stars, lit up at the children's show, ascended the pop Olympus. After all, it was at the "Morning Star" that we first met Valeria, Ani Lorak, Sergei Lazarev, and Angelica Varum. Perhaps you cannot list all the celebrities for whom the children's music program was a successful start.
It is impossible not to recall the organizer and ideological inspirer of the program, Yuri Nikolaev. It was his idea, his brainchild. He put his soul, energy, love into the program. Few believed in the idea, as he stated in an interview. Moreover, they did not really want to give money for the transfer either, and Nikolaev had to take a loan from the bank. This deserves great respect, and TV viewers of the 90s appreciated the deed of this Master.
Even sitting in front of the TV screens, one could see how the presenter supports the participants with words, inspires with a smile. And although he treated young talents like adult participants, the naked eye could see his parental feelings for each participant.
A great idea was to attract the participants to the role of co-host of the same age. This gave the program a special charm. The very first was Masha Bogdanova. Next to her, the participants of the competition felt much more confident. And, in general, the creative tandem of two generations of presenters created a cozy and indescribable atmosphere of the holiday on the stage, which brought together good friends.
I am glad that after a break, "Morning Star with Yuri Nikolaev" again gathers fans at the screens.
