Eurovision can be considered the main European songwriting event of the year. This is a spectacular and exciting event both for its members and for the public from many countries of the world. The fans watching from the TV screens can not only worry and worry from the bottom of their hearts, but also vote for the performers they like.

Eurovision Song Contest

The World Eurovision Song Contest is a competition between singers from different countries that are members of the European Broadcasting Union. They are preparing for this event almost a year before the start of the competition.

The essence of the competition is that fans cannot vote for the performer of their country. Points can be given for a favorite singer of any other country. The winner gets the prize and the right to host the Eurovision Song Contest next year in his home country.

History of appearance

Eurovision appeared in the middle of the 20th century. Marcel Besançon is a Swiss television representative who first spoke about the unification of cultures from different countries that are part of the European Broadcasting Union. A few years later, this idea was approved. Since then, this European competition has begun to be held annually.

An example was the Italian festival held in San Remo. Initially, it was said that the song contest from all over Europe would select the best performers and help them develop further in the international arena. In fact, Eurovision was supposed to boost the ratings of public television, which was not so popular at the time.

First competition

The first competition was held in May 1956. Switzerland hosted the audience and members of the Eurovision Song Contest. The musical battle was held in the city of Lugano. Seven participating countries fought for the victory. The performers sang two songs in a row, this was the first time. The debut winner was Liz Assia from Switzerland.

Every year there were more and more pop singers wishing to perform at the competition. Each country wanted to show itself on the world stage. Therefore, later they began to hold the semi-final of the competition, in which everyone could sing. And in the final, which took place two weeks later, the selected applicants showed their musical skills.

Illustrious ABBA

Now it is already quite difficult to remember many of the participants in the competition who sang their songs for the whole world. The list of Eurovision winners of all years is too long. But the laureates of this award, who went down in history, are still remembered. The renowned group ABBA cannot be forgotten. Their performance made such a surge of emotions in the audience that it was remembered for a long time.

At the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest, ABBA took first place. The renowned ensemble represented Sweden and performed the musical composition Waterloo.

2018 year

Who will win in 2018? It is only worth guessing about. But the intrigue will not last long, and in the spring of next year in the Portuguese capital Lisbon, Europe will hear the voice of a new winner. This will be the 63rd counting competition. The semi-finals of the European competition will take place on May 8 and 10, with the final performance on May 12, 2018.

In total, 60 Eurovision song contests have been held throughout history, and 63 songs have become winners. The 2013 Eurovision Song Contest was the 58th song contest that took place in Malmö, Sweden, at the Malmö Arena.

Denmark participated in the 42nd Eurovision Song Contest. Danish singer Emmily Charlotte de Forest represented Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with the song "Only Teardrops" and took first place with 281 points.

The composition was victorious at the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2013 festival, which allowed its performer to go to the competition. The victory deservedly went to a young, but incredibly talented singer, who was only 19. Despite her young age, she has a very solid performance experience, the singer has been engaged in vocals all her adult life, Emmily has a number of victories in music competitions behind her shoulders. According to Emmily herself, she began to sing before she spoke. As a child, she successfully performed in the church choir, and at the age of 14 went on her first tour with Danish musician Fraser Neal.

The composition, which was performed by Emmily de Forest - "Only Teardrops" - was written by the singer herself.

Eurovision 2014. Denmark

The 59th Eurovision Song Contest was held in Denmark from 6 to 10 May, with a blue diamond becoming the symbol of Eurovision 2014.

In 2014, the winner of the competition, unexpectedly for everyone - and for himself too - was the 25-year-old singer from Austria Thomas Neuwirth, who performed under the stage name Conchita Wurst. In the final, she scored 290 points with the song "Rise Like a Phoenix", 52 points ahead of the closest competitor - the duo "The Common Linnets" from the Netherlands, who scored 238 points.

Eurovision 2014 as a whole turned out to be the strongest in recent years. Over the past 10 years, Eurovision has received a lot of criticism, and some countries seem to have deliberately sent out frankly second-rate artists to the competition.

Thomas Neuwirth is an Austrian gay singer who, using his stage image of a bearded woman, fights for the tolerance and equality of all people, regardless of their appearance.

This image is three years old; Neuwirth in the form of Wurst - a bearded and stylishly dressed vamp woman - could have gone to Eurovision 2012, but took second place in the national selection.

The musician himself divides himself and the singer he created - this, however, is the case for all artists who work with characters of the other (and their own) sex. You can recall, for example, Verka Serduchka, who was invented by Andriy Danilko from Ukraine and who in this image recorded albums, starred in films, represented his country at Eurovision 2007 and even took second place there.

The choice of Europe can hardly be considered demonstrative - objectively Conchita Wurst, despite the beard, was the most feminine of the artists participating in this year's competition, and had perhaps the most outstanding vocal abilities in comparison with other competitors.

Eurovision 2015. Austria

The 2015 Eurovision final took place in the Austrian capital Vienna on 23 ma.

According to the results of a 12-point rating scale, Mons Zelmerlev became the winner of Eurovision 2015 with the song Heroes. He scored 365 points and “broke away” from Russia, which remained in second place.

Mons Zelmerlev was born on June 13, 1986 in the Swedish city of Lund in a family of doctors. His father, Sven-Olaf Zelmerlev, worked as a surgeon, and his mother, Bridget Salen, is a professor of speech pathology. The boy grew up listening to the music of Michael Jackson and Elton John. At first, Mons learned to play the piano, but this instrument soon bored him, and he changed it to the guitar.

In 2002, Mons took part in the filming of the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, where he got the small role of one of the eleven brothers of Joseph.

At nineteen, the young man did not yet have a clear idea of what he would do in the future. At that time, a friend of Mons persuaded him to go to Stockholm (Sweden) and audition for the talent show Idol 2005, where he finished in fifth place, and, to his surprise, Mons Zelmerlev passed the qualifying round, performing a song by Enrique Iglesias. This was the first time the guy visited the capital of Sweden. The singer did not manage to win this competition.

The artist's next dream was a big European tour with his team. To implement it, Mons Zelmerlev took part in the qualifying round for Eurovision-2015, successfully passed it. True, only the third attempt was crowned with success, before that the musician had not passed the casting twice, the last time in 2009. At Eurovision 2015, Mons Zelemerlev performed the song Neroes.

In addition to his musical career, Mons took part in dubbing cartoons. So, Lem from Planet 51 spoke in the voice of a popular singer, as well as Flynn Ryder from the animated tale Rapunzel: A Tangled Story.

21.05.2015

is rightfully considered the main musical event of the year in Europe. This competition is very emotional and exciting not only for the participants, but also for viewers from different countries who gather near the screens and cheer for their performer with all their hearts. In addition, Eurovision is a spectacular show, preparation for which begins almost the next day after the next winner has been announced and the host country for the next competition has been determined.

But no matter how much millions of people hope that next year Eurovision will come to their home, most of them have to experience a slight disappointment. There can only be one winner. And it is for him that even the losers rejoice. After all, this means that another talent was revealed and received a ticket to the musical Olympus.

Eurovision history

The idea of creating a competition appeared in the middle of the last century. It was then that the representatives European Broadcasting Union thought about taking the first step towards the cultural unification of the different countries that make up it. The idea of organizing an international song competition was first proposed by Marcel Besançon. At the time, he was at the head of Swiss television. This happened in the fiftieth year. But only five years later the proposal was approved. On The EMU General Assembly, which took place in Rome, it was decided not only to start implementing the idea of a song competition, in which representatives from all European countries could take part, but it was also agreed to use the festival, which was held in Italian San Remo... It was officially stated that the goal Eurovision is the search for talent and their promotion on the international stage. However, in fact, the competition was intended to increase the popularity of TV, which in those years had not yet reached modern proportions.

First Eurovision took place in May fifty-sixth. Then the participants were hosted by Switzerland. The concert took place in Lugano. It was attended by representatives from only seven countries. Each musician performed two numbers. This was an unprecedented event for Eurovision. Subsequently, the number of participants increased, and each of them had only one chance to show themselves. The first winner of the most popular song contest was a Swiss woman Liz Assia.

Since the number of those wishing to show themselves in the popular music competition is steadily growing, in the fourth year of the new millennium, it was decided to divide the competition into two parts. From that moment on, the semi-final is initially held, within which everyone can take part, and only then the final starts, to which not everyone gets there. And after another four years there were two semifinals. And this is despite the fact that sometimes countries are denied the right to nominate their candidate, and in some cases, the states that usually send performers to Eurovision, for one reason or another, refrain from participating.

Over the long years of the existence of Eurovision, representatives of Ireland most often became the winners. As many as seven times, musicians from this country found themselves on the podium. France, Great Britain, Sweden and Luxenbug won the competition five times. It is worth remembering that the famous ABBA group and world famous artist Celine Dion started their careers precisely by winning this competition.

Eurovision winners in the new millennium

Today, no one can remember all the participants who tried to gain fame on the Eurovision stage. The list of winners is also too long to reproduce right away. And it doesn't make much sense today to go back to the middle of the last century and try to restore the names of everyone who has ever tasted the sweet sensation of triumph. But the winners, who went down in the history of the competition in the twenty-first century, are not so difficult to remember. At the moment there were only fourteen of them. On the eve of

Eurovision is a world-famous competition. It is the brightest event in the spring. The participating countries begin preparing for it in advance: some organize competitions among performers within their country, others are guided by the popularity of the artists.

The choice of some of the participants is sometimes frightening, and sometimes it makes you fall into depression, in anticipation of, according to many, the collapse of morality on Earth. For example, in 2014 the list of Eurovision winners was replenished with the name of Conchita Wurst ...

Eurovision yesterday, today, tomorrow. Competition transformation

In the first year of its existence, Eurovision was of a unifying and entertainment nature. Tired of wartime, people wanted to take a break from the vanity of everyday life.

Now Eurovision is a rather shocking competition, which is often accused of bias, politicization, and sometimes immorality. However, despite the change in direction, Eurovision is becoming brighter and better from year to year. It is important to note that the competition has outgrown the previously designated framework - singing competitions among representatives of the adult contingent. This is evidenced by the list of Eurovision winners throughout history.

Since 2003, a children's Eurovision song contest has been held. It is analogous to an adult with the only difference: the age limit is up to 15 years. There are already 12 names in the list of winners of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Its main difference from its adult counterpart is the presence of an annually changing slogan (the only year in which it was absent was 2010).

Eurovision winners of all years. List of the first 10 years of existence

In 2016, the Eurovision Song Contest turns 60, so it will not be superfluous to at least briefly trace its history. First of all, the winners of the Eurovision Song Contest of all years should be included in his chronicle. The list will include the nominees who took the Grand Prix:

Eurovision 2014. Denmark

59th Eurovision Song Contest took place in Denmark from 6 to 10 May. Danish national broadcaster DR announced on September 2, 2013 that the song contest was held in Copenhagen, in the B&W rooms located in Refhalejoen Square on Amager Island. The slogan of this year's competition - “Join Us” - was approved by EBU and the reference group. A blue-blue diamond has become the symbol of Eurovision 2014.

V 2014 year the winner of the competition, unexpectedly for everyone - and for himself too - was the 25-year-old singer from Austria Thomas Neuwirth, who performed under the stage name. She's with a song "Rise Like a Phoenix" scored 290 points, 52 points ahead of its closest competitor, The Common Linnets from the Netherlands, with 238 points.

This is Austria's second victory at Eurovision(the first happened far away). overall proved to be the strongest in recent years. Last 10 years addressed to Eurovision there was a lot of criticism, and some countries seemed to be deliberately sending overtly second-rate artists to the competition. V 2014 competition demonstrated a desire to part with the reputation of the Eurotrash collection earned in the early 2000s - and this time, real deeds became visible behind these ambitions.

Thomas Neuwirth Is an Austrian singer of non-traditional sexual orientation who, with the help of his stage image of a bearded woman, fights for the tolerance and equality of all people, regardless of their appearance.

This image is three years old; Neuwirth as Wurst- a bearded and stylishly dressed vamp woman - could have gone to another, but in the national selection he took second place.

The musician himself divides himself and the singer he created - this, however, is the case for all artists who work with characters of the other (and their own) sex. You can recall, for example, Verka Serduchka, which he invented with and who in this image recorded albums, starred in films, represented his country at Eurovision 2007 and even took second place there.

The choice of Europe can hardly be considered demonstrative - objectively, despite the beard, she was the most feminine of the artists participating in this year's competition, and had perhaps the most outstanding vocal abilities in comparison with other competitors.

Eurovision 2015. Austria

The jubilee, 60th, song contest was held in Austria, which became the winner country, held in Copenhagen (Denmark). Austria hosted the competition for the second time. The country only after 48 years was able to repeat the result, where Udo Jurgens became the winner.

The results of the competition completely coincided with the forecast of the bookmakers, who absolutely accurately predicted the top three winners: Sweden, Russia, Italy. Representative of Sweden Mons Zelmerlev and the representative of Russia Polina Gagarina were very close on points, replacing each other in the first place. Even the winner of the competition himself later admitted that at some point he resigned himself to the second place and was confident in the victory of Russia. During the voting, the Swede still came out on top. He scored 365 points, leaving Russia in second place.

(Mons Petter Albert Selmerlev) was born on June 13, 1986 in a family of doctors. Since childhood, he was fond of creativity, loved to listen and. He learned to play the piano, took part in the African dance circle, and later began to independently master the guitar.

Took part in the show "Idol 2005", where he took fifth place. In the same year he took part in the show “Let’s Dance” with the singer Anna Book and won.

The singer has appeared in the Swedish versions of the films Grease (2006) and Footloose (2007).

In 2007 he also took part in “Melodifestivalen”, finishing third in the final with the song “Cara mia”.

2015 was a very successful year for Monsa Selmerleva... In "Melodifestivalen" he took first place, thereby gaining the right to represent Sweden at Eurovision Song Contest... The Swedish performer showed an enchantingly spectacular laser show at the competition, made in the form of a projection, with which Mons sang the song very emotionally "Heroes"... His number was unique and not like the others, so he earned not only a warm welcome, but also a victory for the performer.
