Graphics is the most ancient type of visual art. The first graphic works are considered to be rock paintings of a primitive man, reflecting his view of the world around him. The papyrus books of the ancient Egyptians contained graphic symbols (hieroglyphs) and illustrations. From ancient times, wonderful examples of graphics in the form of paintings on vases and ceramic vessels have come down to us.
For a long time, only writing and calligraphy were considered graphics. In the Middle Ages, book graphics became widespread: handwritten books were decorated with magnificent drawings and miniatures, and the creation of fonts turned into a hotel area of art.
Outstanding graphic artists and their notable works
The greatest master of the Western European Renaissance, Albrecht Durer, is one of the founders of engraving. His most famous copper works are The Knight, Death and the Devil (1513), St. Jerome in his cell "and" Melancholy "(1514).

Technique and types of graphics
Drawing is the basis of all types of graphic art. Typically, a graphic is drawn on a piece of paper that plays the role of space. To create his works, the artist can use a whole arsenal of tools: pencil, ballpoint pen, charcoal, ink, ink, sanguine (red-brown pencils made of kaolin and iron oxides), colored chalk, sauce (one of the varieties of pastels), watercolor, gouache.
The main instrument of European drawing during the late Gothic and Renaissance eras was the pen. In graphics, canvas is practically not used, since watercolors and gouache do not fit well on it. Color in graphic images is used much less than in paintings. Graphics have the same wide variety of genres as painting. But here the genre of portrait and landscape is more common, to a lesser extent - still life, historical, everyday and others. Graphics are traditionally divided into monumental (poster, wall graphics), easel (drawing and printmaking), book (illustrations, postcards), as well as computer graphics, which, however, stands aside, since it does not use traditional materials.
Graphic art is distinguished by a wide variety of techniques that the artist uses in pure form or in various combinations. There are two types of graphics by technique: drawing and printed graphics (printmaking). The drawing is created only in a single copy. In ancient times, artists used papyrus, parchment, and from the 14th century they began to draw on paper.
On the contrary, printed graphics exist in many copies. For replication, an engraving is used - a drawing on a solid material, which is covered with paint, and then printed on a sheet of paper. Depending on the material, different types and techniques of engraving are distinguished: woodcut (woodcut), linocut (drawing carved on linoleum), etching (metal engraving), lithography (stone engraving). With the advent of engraving, the printed book appeared and book graphics began to develop. Today, the development of graphics does not stop, new genres and techniques are emerging, but, as in ancient times, graphics remain an important component of the visual arts in our life.

JD Hillberry
Natural abilities and a strong desire to draw attention to his work appeared in JD Hillberry as a child. The passion and talent have made the artist one of the best pencil drawing artists in the world.
