3 Death of characters

First, he goes to Atlanta in search of his family, and after that he leads a whole group of survivors who have gathered around him, striving with all their might to survive in the prevailing conditions. But the main emphasis in the comic is not on confrontation with the living dead, but on interpersonal relationships. The new conditions have erased all the framework of morality and ethics, becoming a fertile ground for the development of the most base human qualities. As a result, the other survivors pose the main danger to the survivors. And the heroes constantly have to step over themselves, acting on the edge, because this is the only way to stay afloat.

In addition to Rick, the main characters are his wife and son, whom he nevertheless finds, as well as a number of other characters who can claim to be the main characters only until the moment of their death, which occurs here more often than one might think. The story in the comic is generally harsh enough that it may scare off a certain portion of the audience, but many others have come to love the series for that very reason. After all, if you know that every hero can die at any moment, you start to worry about them for real.

The dark atmosphere is complemented by the black and white visual style of "The Walking Dead", the main vector of which was set by one of the authors of the idea - Tony Moore, and developed by Cliff Ruthburn and Charlie Adlard. The series is published by Image Comics. It was originally planned to be limited to a hundred releases, but the wild success that came over time changed the original plans of the creators. As a result, at the moment 139 issues have been published and the authors, apparently, are not going to stop.

Speaking of zombies. In the comic, they are presented in their "classic" form - unhurried, stupid, half-decayed. Every person turns into a zombie after death, because the virus is transmitted by airborne droplets, so for zombification the heroes need only die in any way - they are all infected. A zombie bite does not turn a person into a walking dead man, but there is something in the saliva of the monsters, from which the person still dies, after which he is already resurrected in the form of undead. Zombies in the comics are not eternal - they lose activity in the cold season, decompose over time, until they turn into a skeleton and lose the ability to move.

Corpses are also killed in the best traditions of the genre - it is necessary to break their skull, damaging the central nervous system.

Reading the Walking Dead comic is difficult but exciting. Difficult - because the atmosphere of hopelessness, constant suspense and emotional stress exhaust the reader himself. Fascinating - because the plot constantly presents new challenges and the desire to find out how it all ends - does not recede.

Not surprisingly, the series was transferred to television screens, which was taken care of by the AMC channel, which put not just anyone in the director's chair, but Frank Darabont, who shot such films as The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile. Tony Moore and comic book writer Robert Kirkman acted as consultants, while Andrew Lincoln, Chandler Riggs, Norman Reedus and other actors played the main roles. In general, the series also went with a bang - at the moment it is the 5th season, the first episode of which showed incredible ratings, collecting 17.3 million TV viewers in the United States from the screens, which became a record for AMC.

Initially, a bite was considered a method of infection, but later it becomes obvious that the virus (a biological weapon developed by the military) transmitted by airborne droplets is to blame. And why any death leads to a subsequent resurrection.

The southern line of the comic revolves around the main character, a former police officer, Rick Grimes, who, together with a group of survivors of the zombie apocalypse, is trying to somehow survive and improve his life. In addition to the walking dead, the group he gathered has to confront other survivors as well.

At present, the series consists of 28 volumes, which include 168 comic issues plus 8 special issues. It is produced in black and white, which does not prevent the reader from conveying all the horror and pain of the characters. Explicit scenes of violence and cruelty, put the comic in the 18+ section.
