The popular Russian DJ Grad has passed away. “The Grad wanted to live and fought the disease

"He had heart problems before, right up to resuscitation."

The death of the DJ, who was not only one of the stars and organizers of Kazantip, but was also famous for his incendiary parties and more than once took first places in the ratings of the best disc jockeys in Russia, was first reported on his social network page by the guru of the Russian electronic scene, its pioneer Vladimir Fonarev. DJ FONAREV, or DJ Lantern, as he was called before, wrote: "Tolik Grad, Brother's Heart has passed away ...". Anatoly flew from the tour, already on the plane from St. Petersburg to Moscow he felt bad, he managed to call a taxi from the airport to his house and lost consciousness in the car. The ambulance staff who arrived promptly, alas, could not save his life. In June, the artist was supposed to be 41 years old.

From childhood, the future DJ loved electronic music, listened to Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode and showed his first creative experiments to friends at school. The boy was supported by a music teacher, who allowed him to conduct some lessons on his own and talk about what is happening on the western stage, what styles and performers exist there. Anatoly started DJing in Norilsk in the early 1990s, where he played in discos, bars and nightclubs. He was active in water polo, but sacrificed a potential sports career for the sake of music, and also received a medical degree.

In 1995, DJ Grad moved to Volgograd and began to develop the electronic scene there, organized parties and even opened his own club, which became a cult place in the city. In parallel, he launched a two-hour dance show "PlayOff" on a local radio station. In 1997, he first appeared at KaZantip and the next time he became a member of the organizers, at the same time, of course, remaining a participant in the festival. In the same year he moved to Moscow and began working on the famous electronic radio "Station 106.8FM" by Vladimir Fonarev, and then on "Station 2000" (there he hosted the show "Evening Collection", which later migrated to another wave). At the same time Anatoly held the largest rave in the capital "InStation" in Gorky Park. He was not only an active DJ, host and event organizer, but also did DJ booking, helping other artists to promote as well.

DJ Grad was a resident of several cult clubs, and all club Moscow came to listen to him. At traditional parties "Free Your Mind" (also called his first single, released in 2004), he played huge eight-hour sets and seemed to be able to do so indefinitely. He also performed in Ibiza several times, where he organized a series of parties "From Russia With Lust" and became the first Russian resident at the El Divino club. Anatoly was distinguished by a very high level of skill, he could often play on four turntables at the same time, he boldly experimented and felt at the control panel like a fish in water. Most of all he loved house music, but in its very diverse forms - garage, disco, tribal, Latin. Their elements formed his own style, which the DJ called "sexy house".

MK contacted Vladimir Fonarev, who shared his memories of a colleague:

We have known Anatoly since the mid-1990s, worked together a lot - we had a common project "Atmosphere". And after that, when the project ceased to exist, we continued to collaborate on the radio and kept in touch to this day. A professional, a wonderful person has passed away - not only talented in a creative sense, but also kind, conflict-free in communication. This is a heavy loss for us. He was one of that rare galaxy of artists, disc jockeys, who approach music very correctly, to life. Recently, Anatoly was very ill, even ended up in intensive care due to serious heart problems. He had a very busy schedule. And, unfortunately, this time, when he once again returned from the tour and was driving home in a taxi, his heart stopped beating completely.

Anatoly Satonin, whom all fans of the Russian club scene knew as DJ Grad, passed away. Vladimir Fonarev reported on the sad event on his Facebook page. Tolya was only 42 years old ...
