Dress from the movie cinderella. New "Cinderella": entertaining facts about the film

In the spring of 2015, the movie "Cinderella" was released 65 years after the release of the cartoon based on this fairy tale from the Disney studio. Lead costume designer Sandy Powell (who has won 3 Oscars for her work on costumes for film characters, by the way) drew her inspiration from nineteenth-century fashion and 1950s fashion.
Sandy Powell (according to her) wanted to make her costumes bold using bright colors, as if they were illustrations from the book, but at the same time they had to be suitable for each character.
When it came time to create a wedding dress for Cinderella, the designer decided that it was very important to make this dress different from the fluffy dress in which Cinderella appears at the ball. Instead of making the wedding dress even more original than the ball gown, Sandy Powell chose to simplify the design. She wanted to do something just cute, ephemeral and beautiful. The resulting dress is light beige, long sleeves, made of silk and organza, embellished with floral embroidery, should represent the simplicity of the princess. Cinderella wins the heart of the prince with the help of her innate kindness, and although she becomes part of the royal family, initially she is just a sweet and kind girl.

A team of seamstresses cut, cut, stitched and created a dress for the film for a whole month. After this wonderful dress with a long train was ready, it was given to the hands of professional embroiderers, who hand-embroidered all the flowers. In total, 16 people were involved in the work on this dress alone, and it took 550 hours of work to create it. However, all the work done on Cinderella's wedding dress was almost ruined. When the dress was tried on for actress Lily Jame and began to have a photo session in the dress, at one point (when Lily got too close to the heater) part of the dress caught fire and one of its layers burned out. Unfortunately, only one wedding dress was made by the artists (in the cinema, several copies of the same suit or dress are usually made) and part of the work on it had to be redone.

The prince's wedding dress is made in a military theme, but the colors for it are not the most usual for ordinary men. (The woolen tunic is made in light blue, but emphasizes the color of the prince's eyes). By the way, the gold embroidery on the prince's costume is also made by hand.
As for the Cinderella ball gown, the effect of its splendor and enormity is created thanks to more than twelve different layers of fabric (silk, polyester and iridescent nylon). Here the ball gown was created in the amount of as many as 9 pieces. And Cinderella's crystal shoes were also made in several copies. Shoes, as you probably already know, are made of Swarovski crystals. This choice was made in favor of crystals, because they sparkle, unlike, for example, glass (glass will not give such a shine).
But in none of the scenes does the actress actually put on crystal shoes, since the foot needs to move, and the crystal will not allow this. Slippers in all scenes were added using special effects.

Hello everyone!

As recently as yesterday the Gossip blogger Helene presented to our attention a selection of stars dressed in blue dresses, as well as its various shades (). I looked at this post with great pleasure, as blue is one of my favorite colors. And the most memorable outfit for me was dress Lily James from the movie "Cinderella" 2015!

So, the costumes for the film were created by a famous artist Sandy Powell, who, by the way, is an officer of the Order of the British Empire (received in 2011), as well as an Oscar and BAFTA award winner for the best costume design for the film "Young Victoria" (2009)- the one with Emily Blunt in the title role.

And here is a photo of the artist against the background of her creations for "Cinderella".

In February 2015, she was interviewed by The Daily Mail, in which she revealed the secrets of creating the main dress for Ella / Cinderella. In particular, she said that everything was done nine versions of the dress, and they are all different:"One of them was 5cm shorter. There were two more dresses 10cm shorter for filming where Lily had to run away. Another had holes in the sides of the skirt for rigging (when the actress was lifted into the air with rods)."

Lily james in an interview with reporters, she shared that her thin waist was not the work of Photoshop designers, but a consequence of a tight corset and a very fluffy skirt, which visually made her waist look narrower.

Helena Bonham-Carter, who played the fairy godmother of Cinderella, gave Lily advice on how to "fit" into the dress. She advised to exhale when her corset was tightened, so the waist would look narrower and there would be no painful effect. (Eh, what can you do for the sake of beauty! :-)))

The upper ball of the dress is made of silk-fastened - a very light and thin fabric. The lower tiers are made of a synthetic fabric called yumissima, an incredibly lightweight and very expensive material that floats in the air when tossed in!

Corset and crinoline (skirt frame) are made of steel.

In 2015, shortly before the premiere, an exhibition of costumes from the film was organized at London Fashion Week.

For sewing each (!!!) of nine more creations 240 meters of fabric, 4.8 km of thread and 10,000 rhinestones; more 4800 meters of stitches.

It took one such wonder dress 18 tailors and 500 hours of painstaking work!

Every time actress Lily James put on a dress, she spent on it 20 minutes.

The most difficult thing for Lily that she had to do in a dress was dancing with the prince. (By Richard Madden) - he stepped on him constantly.

Designers can't say how much Cinderella's dress cost, but it is estimated that each version of the outfit cost the studio about 12 000 $!

Here is such an expensive dress, in every sense of the word! But it is wonderful, fabulous, unique - isn't it?

Lily James talks about filming Cinderella, the crystal shoe and Richard Madden

How to waltz in chic outfits, avoid breaking crystal shoes and what you need to do to meet a prince - about this HELLO! said actress Lily James, who starred in Kenneth Branagh's Cinderella.

The fate of Lily James is very similar to that of Cinderella. A young British actress, previously known only for the role of the eccentric Lady Rose in the popular costume series "Downton Abbey", she immediately got to the "ball": she was cast in the major Hollywood project "Cinderella" and began acting alongside such stars as Cate Blanchett and Helena Bonham Carter. As part of the promotion of this film, Lily visited Moscow, where we managed to talk to the actress and find out from her how modern princesses live.

Lily James at the premiere of Cinderella

Lily, be honest: are Cinderella's crystal shoes really as comfortable as the fairy godmother Helena Bonham Carter claims in the movie?

To be honest, here she somewhat embellished reality. (Laughs) They are actually made from Swarovski crystals and were small for me. So we had to put them on me using CGI. And they are also wildly expensive, and in the scene with the fitting of the shoe, Richard (actor Richard Madden, who played the prince. - Ed.) Scared the guards specially sent to the site to death when he began to turn the shoe in his hands.

- Weren't you afraid to play such a famous heroine? Still, there are already so many versions of "Cinderella".

At first, of course, I was very afraid. But I auditioned for so long and met so many times with the director of the film, Kenneth Branagh, that by the beginning of filming I was firmly convinced that I wanted and should play this role. Plus, when you know that you can get into the same project with Cate Blanchett and Helena Bonham Carter, the desire to work with them outweighs any fear.

Cate blanchett
Cinderella's half-sisters played by Holliday Granger and Sophie McShera

- As a child, you probably watched Disney cartoons. Did you want to become a princess?

Much more princesses I liked the dogs from the Disney cartoon "Lady and the Tramp". In second place was Belle from "Beauty and the Beast" ... If there was any heroine, looking at whom I said: "Here I want to be!" - then this is definitely her. And also, when I was nine years old, my grandmother sewed me a costume of another Disney princess - Jasmine, and I walked around the house like that. My brothers, seeing me in this outfit, began to tease, we fought, and I did not wear that suit again.

Lily James as Cinderella

- How did you feel when you first put on Cinderella's blue ball gown on the set?

I caught my breath. You see, up to this moment we filmed scenes where I play Cinderella, an ordinary girl. And then I put on a dress and became a princess in an instant! The outfit played a decisive role in this transformation. By the way, it was wildly heavy: I almost fell off the stairs while we were filming the scene at the ball. (Laughs) What can we say about poor Richard - he also had to lift me up during our dance.

In addition to this dress, you have only two outfits in the film. Did you envy your stepmother and stepsisters, who had a much richer wardrobe?

I was so attached to my few outfits that I was not too offended. In addition, unlike the rest, I did not have to get up at six in the morning and do hundreds of fittings. See, Cinderella has its advantages too.

- You mentioned St.their brothers. Do you have the same uneasy relationship with them as Cinderella did with her half-sisters?

What are you, they are much worse. (Laughs) I'm kidding, of course, I love brothers. And after filming in "Cinderella" I realized my happiness: I would hardly get along with the sisters. By the way, the brothers were with me at the Berlin Film Festival, where the world premiere of the film took place. They became the main handsome men on the red carpet.

- Did they like Cinderella?

They are delighted, although after watching for a long time they laughed: "Lily, in real life you are not so cute at all."

Do you believe that the Cinderella story is possible in the modern world? Can a girl without connections and fortune find a prince, if not on a white horse, then at least on a white Ferrari?

Now all princes go with bodyguards, so, probably, modern Cinderellas will have to learn martial arts in order to break through this cordon. (Laughs.) But seriously, I believe that people from different social strata can be together. And it's not only about love, but also about the attitude to life. An ordinary girl can have a lot in common with a prince in a white Ferrari. Especially if he's kind and smart.

Soon you will have to put on a ball gown again: your next project is the British TV series War and Peace, in which you play Natasha Rostova. Have you already started preparing for the role?

Yes, I went to St. Petersburg for a couple of weeks, and now we are filming everything in a studio in the UK. And, of course, I've already read the book. I remember that even on the set, Kenneth told me about Tolstoy: "You will be delighted!" - and he turned out to be right: this is an amazing story, I hope that I will be able to play it in such a way that I will not disappoint you.

Kenneth Branagh tells HELLO! about making the movie "Cinderella":

To most viewers, I am known as the director of Shakespeare's adaptations or films such as Thor and Frankenstein. Therefore, upon learning that I was going to shoot a fairy tale, many people told me: "Kenneth, why?" At first, I myself did not believe that I would be able to make a film that was not tragic and too serious, but in the end we really got a fairy tale. Something we took from the version of Charles Perrault, something from the edition of the Brothers Grimm. The main difference in our story is that we did not create a modern guide "How to Meet a Prince at the Ball". Our Cinderella is very modern and may well be happy and pleased with herself even without a prince.

By the way, we were looking for the actress for the role of Cinderella for the longest time. They needed a little-known girl who, on the one hand, could immediately win over the viewer, and on the other, cope with all the difficulties that are inevitable on such a large Hollywood project. Lily appeared out of nowhere: at first she wanted to play just one of her half-sisters, then the casting director invited her to audition for the main role, there were one more audition, the second, the third ... The process was exhausting, but at the end we were definitely confident in our decision. Lily fits perfectly into the description of Cinderella: she is charming, resourceful, she has a great sense of humor and, most importantly, a lot of patience. "

Richard Madden, Lily James and Kenneth Branagh

Probably, if there was a competition for the most popular fairytale heroine, then Cinderella would have won it. A simple but beautiful story gave each young lady (and does!) Hope to grow up to be a clever, beautiful woman and find her fabulous happiness with the handsome Prince.

1. Dumb Cinderella.

It is not surprising that cinema showed interest in this fairy tale immediately, practically, from the first years of its existence. Just think, Melies himself, already in 1899 !, shot the first version of the story about the crystal shoe!

Still from the film "Cinderella", 1899

They write that the style of this film, as well as all the work of Melies (about whom Scorsese shot the wonderful film "Keeper of Time") was influenced by the work of Gustave Dore.

Illustrations by Gustave Dore for the fairy tale "Cinderella".

Méliès's 5 minute painting was a great success! You can watch it below:

But we will not dwell on all the film adaptations - there are more than twenty of them, but we will recall only a few of the most interesting ones.
For fans of silent films, I suggest watching another version, now American, from 1914 with Mary Pickford in the title role.

Still from the film "Cinderella", 1914

We make a big leap and go straight to the films of our time.
I already wrote about the domestic version of "Cinderella" (here) and the Czech hit of all times and peoples "Three nuts for Cinderella" (read). Therefore, now we will talk about another American film adaptation of the famous fairy tale. Ever After: A Cinderella Story (1998), filmed in the style of the French Renaissance and named in our box office "The Story of Eternal Love".

2. "The story of eternal love." Almost a crystal slipper.

This film aroused my interest in me with its again Renaissance costumes, created by the famous British costume designer Jenny Beavan(Jenny Beavan) (I wrote quite a bit about her in an old post about the Sherlock Holmes movie).

Costume design Daniel - this is the name of Cinderella in this film. As we remember, "Cinderella" is not a name, but a nickname derived from "ash".

Still from the film "The Story of Eternal Love"

I was also impressed by the plot idea of the film - the whole action of the fairy tale is twisted around the portrait of Leonardo da Vinci, known as
La Scapigliata(or Testa di fanciulla detta la scapigliata)

The stepmother is traditionally dressed in green - a color symbolizing envy and anger.

It was interesting to decide the key ball gown Danielle - showered with pearls and having translucent wings of either a butterfly or a moth, giving the heroine fragility and ephemerality.

Today, this dress can often be seen at exhibitions of movie costume, so we have a chance to see it in more detail.

This outfit looks especially touching and figurative after the Prince rejects Daniel, calling her an impostor: the heroine becomes like a moth that burned its delicate wings, inadvertently approaching the fire alluring him ...

Forgotten (almost crystal) shoe - mules ...

By the way, the famous shoe brand “Salvatore Ferragamo” had a hand in the creation of the famous "crystal shoe" in this film.

And since we are talking about shoe design, I would like to remind you that not so long ago Christian Louboutin, whose shoes every fashionista dreams of, created his own pair of shoes for Cinderella - not for filming a film, but for the Disney Princess exhibition in honor of the remake the classic 1949 cartoon about a fairy-tale beauty. “I am very lucky to have the opportunity to touch the world of Cinderella, so symbolic of the world of shoes and the world of dreams,” says Christian Louboutin.

It was in these shoes that actress Lily James, who played the role of Cinderella in the recent film adaptation, shone at the premiere in 2015.

3. Film "Cinderella", 2015. Crystal slipper.

The costume designer for the latest Disney movie, Cinderella, was Sandy Powell(Sandy Powell), who is known for her love of bright colors.

Therefore, there are many colors in this tale. When asked by journalists what meaning the artist put into the color of the film, Sandy replied that she did not even think about it, but simply followed her intuition ( probably that's why I'm not a fan of this artist's work ;-)

If it were not for Cinderella's giant ballroom crinoline, I think everyone else would have remembered only the Stepmother's style performed by the brilliant Cate Blanchett.

Joan Fontaine in the 1940 film Rebecca

"Actually, I started from the images of Marlene Dietrich and Joan Crawford, but from films shot in the 1940s in 19th century costumes," Powell said in an interview. "For some reason, it was the first image that came to my mind: 1940s hair and makeup and big dramatic hats, a la 40s, but imitating the 19th century. I started by looking at film noir photographs of 40s actresses. And that was our starting point. "

The stepmother's daughters turned out to be very bright. I liked their underwear - crinolines and bustles. This is, of course, a fantasy option, but funny)

"They're kind of the nouveau riche," Powell says. "It's like people who got a lot of money and started spending it on clothes without good taste. It all looks a little vulgar."

The artist says the following about Cinderella's blue dress: “I knew that I didn’t want to make it pink, and then I thought that it might be white, but, no, it cannot be, since we have a wedding scene, and there should have been dress of that color.

Cinderella's wedding dress.

Then I thought: green would be wrong, yellow would be wrong, red would be wrong. I went back to blue because it is actually the most attractive color, and only it seemed to be appropriate.

Cinderella's ballroom dress sketch.

Then I remembered that the original was blue, and I realized: it was impossible to make any other color except blue, because it is - "Cinderella's blue ballroom color". And I think millions of little girls around the world would be terribly disappointed if I did it wrong. "

Cinderella in a ball gown from the classic 1949 animated version.

Of course, the most interesting task for the artist was to come up with his own unique detail for the key ball gown. Cinderella - Daniel had the wings of a moth, Cinderella - Ella - these are butterflies that dotted the neckline of the bodice.
“I was thinking about the scene where Ella's transformation into a princess would take place, even if it was planned to be filmed as a visual effect,” Powell recalls. "It made sense to make some kind of decoration, but what? At first I thought about flowers, but then I remembered that Cinderella is close to nature, her friends are all sorts of animals and birds, and it would be nice if they helped her make this dress And I just planted butterflies on it, which fluttered and flew away when Ella circled. "

But what about the shoes? They were "classic", according to Perrault - made of crystal. They were made for the film by the Swarovski company.

These shoes were recently exhibited at a shoe exhibition at the V&A Museum.

We cannot ignore another Cinderella who lost her shoe on the screens of cinemas last year.

Movie costume designer Colin Atwood(Colleen Atwood) (I have a whole tag dedicated to her) told later in an interview: “From an aesthetic point of view, the Cinderella costume was a big challenge for me. Because our Cinderella could not wear the traditional big pink or blue dress, which is every little girl's dream girls. The soul of this character's mother lived in a willow tree, and we wanted to reflect this in the heroine's costume. I was looking for a fabric texture similar to a butterfly wing, and my choice fell on the golden llama of the 1930s and organza, which perfectly conveyed this effect. As a result, it turned out that the dress reminds a little of the mother, it is a little fabulous - princess and, at the same time, modern.

This photo shows that Cinderella's shoes are not crystal, but gold. As Colin said in an interview, this is because they stuck to the Brothers Grimm version of the fairy tale. “In the fairy tale of the Brothers Grimm,” writes Wikipedia, “the heroine first receives“ shoes embroidered with silks and silver ”as a gift, and on the last evening -“ shoes of pure gold. ”(Https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinderella )

Since most of the action of the picture takes place in a dark forest, the shiny textures looked especially advantageous.
For the same reason, glare, reflective fabrics are present in the costumes of the Stepmother and her daughters. But the negative nature of these characters is evident in the large amount of black trim.

It is a pity that we do not have time to enjoy the beauty of these costumes and appreciate the elegance of appliqués and hand embroidery ... But such is the fate of the film suit.

I think the last two works of the artists will be nominated for an Oscar this year. Wait and see. In the meantime, the holidays are coming, I wish all young ladies to find their crystal slipper and it is not applicable - with the Prince in the bargain!))

Well, I remind you two posts about other "Cinderella":

"Cinderella" 1947 Almost a fairy tale.

"Three nuts for Cinderella". Fabulous Renaissance.

And similar posts:

Four Romeos, four Juliet.

Anna Karenina and her wardrobe: keeping up with the times.

On March 6, a new Disney fairy tale "Cinderella", based on the Disney cartoon of 1950, is released. We calculated how many meters of fabric and Swarovski crystals it took to turn Cinderella into a real fairy-tale princess.

It is clear that the main thing in the film is, of course, the story that there is nothing more important than a kind heart and true love. But dresses can't be ignored either! We remember: Cinderella, of course, struck the prince with beauty and kindness, but at the same time she was far from in rags. She had a real fabulous dress from the fairy godmother! And it's one thing to fantasize it in a cartoon, but it's quite another to dress Cinderella in a movie. So costume designer Sandy Powell had a hell of a task: a) to rely on a cartoon from the 50s; b) come up with something of your own; c) and that it was all fabulous and knocked us out on the spot. Sandy had to start work two years before filming, and her duties included in addition to all the outfits: a Cinderella ball gown with 12 layers, a wedding dress and crystal shoes. The ball gown alone took 550 hours. We applaud!

Sandy made patterns from illustrations of a classic fairy tale. “We decided to try to make some semblance of fashionable women's suits of the forties of the twentieth century, which could be worn in the nineteenth”, - she explains. But let's get down to a detailed analysis!

Cinderella Ball Gown

As you can imagine, it was impossible to miss here. It was supposed to be something fantastic, magical, similar to a dress from a cartoon and at the same time unlike anything else. Ella was supposed to look like the most beautiful girl at the ball on the one hand, and on the other, to remain that very simple girl who everyone offends. This is how it looked in the cartoon:

We make a discount on the fashion of the 50s and understand: Sandy Powell had room to maneuver. The designer decided to keep blue as a key color, but to combine different shades and fabrics. As a result, more than 240 meters of fabric and 10,000 Swarovski crystals were spent on sewing Cinderella's dress, more than 4800 meters of stitches were made. For the filming of the film, 9 absolutely identical dresses were made - for every fireman. And here's the result:

Believe me, Cinderella's dress turned out to be truly magical! It sparkles, shimmers with all shades of blue (we bit our lip with envy!), And when Cinderella begins to dance around, girls and boys gasp!

Sandy admits that in fact she was thinking about other color options, went through everything that was possible, and realized: Cinderella's magic dress cannot be red or yellow - only blue! But a solid blue color will drive us into longing - this is how the idea of shades came.

Sandy's skirt was made of light silk and polyester, which she covered with a large crinoline. The fabric, in turn, was strewn with tiny crystals - 10 thousand, we remind you. The fairy godmother wasn’t trifling! "How can you imagine a Cinderella who does not sparkle?"- the designer is surprised. Before this film, we personally represented, now - no.

Of course, not without a corset - Powell was inspired by the structured silhouette of the 50s. However, at the same time, the new dress looks more flying and free - all because of the thin waist and giant skirt. "The most important thing that Cinderella does at the ball is dancing and running away, so all the movements of the dress must be beautiful!" Sandy says. Oh yeah! Beautiful movements of the dress - Madame knows a lot about women's desires!

Powell refused all the accessories from the cartoon - long gloves, a black ribbon around her neck and other things, but she put Cinderella on a corsage of butterflies. “I wanted it to be like a haze. Cinderella was supposed to just stand and shine without any jewelry and ornaments. She had to look very simple and innocent. It's all about silhouette, color and movement. "

Not in the eyebrow, but in the eye. It turned out exactly as the designer intended. Here's a sketch and a result for comparison.

Cinderella wedding dress

For some, maybe in life this is the most important dress, but for Cinderella it is the second most popular one. Although, of course, the importance of his beauty is undeniable. Here poor Sandy also had to twist, because in the original animated there was this:

It was a challenge, Sandy complains. Imagine: you just came up with the coolest ball gown from the fairy godmother, and they tell you - now it's banana! give a wedding! “I had to do something completely different and simple,- says the designer. - I wanted to achieve a euphemeral effect, so we made an extremely tight bodice with a long train. "

Sandy came up with the idea of making the dress beige, with long sleeves, organza and silk. The train has a floral print. The designer, thus, in every possible way emphasizes the kindness of Cinderella through her clothes. "I wanted her to remain humble and clean even after becoming part of the royal society."

As a result, 16 people worked on the wedding dress, in total it took 550 hours. And after all this, Lily James, who played Cinderella, gets too close to the spotlights during the promo photo shoot, and the dress lights up. The shock of the designers is unimaginable! “It was a disaster! The entire top layer of the dress burned down, it had to be restored again! - shouts Sandy. - No one asked: 'Is Lily all right?... These are the passions that flared up in the literal sense.

Fairy godmother dress

Sorry, but you can't ignore the woman who arranged Cinderella's personal life. “How to make a princess out of Cinderella? - Find the right godmother! " - also has a place to be. Sandy Powell also worked hard and spent on creating the dress:

- 120 meters of fabric;

- 400 LEDs;

- thousands of Swarovski crystals.

The dress was almost 120 centimeters wide. Everything looked in the spirit of the 18th century - the Victorian era, a noble and brilliant fabulous mothballs. Frankly speaking, the fairy did better for Cinderella than for herself.

Wicked Stepmother Dress

This is the second woman who determined Cinderella's fate - so let's talk about her as well. Moreover, absolutely amazing outfits were invented for Cate Blanchett - every single one. Sandy Powell was inspired by 1940s fashion and divas like Marlene Dietrich and Joan Crawford. For the Stepmother, a sinister black and green palette and shoes from Salvatore Ferragamo were chosen. “Remember, when you meet someone perfectly dressed, not a single hair strayed from their hair, perfect makeup? There's always something scary about that, right? Sandy laughs. - This is the style of Anna Wintour. Everything is thought out, the man is in armor ".

All of the Stepmother's outfits are amazing, but this green ball gown is the squeakiest!

Crystal slippers

The challenge is stronger than all the dresses. How to make such shoes, from what ?! Sandy Powell broke her head. It's easy for animators - they drew a crystal slipper and rejoice.

Mrs. Powell decided that she needed the same, only cooler. Yes, she also made the shoes crystal! Swarovski came to the rescue, which made shoes from crystal and decorated them with their crystals. Sandy explains that she wanted more than just glass shoes, but real magical shining pieces.

Lily James complained at a press conference in Moscow, and did not fit her at all, so she was only given them to hold and taken away, because they shook over them no worse than over a wedding dress. Therefore, in the film, the actress actually walks in different shoes, and all the crystals and crystal are later made using a computer.

Nevertheless, Swarovski did their best: their shoe was exhibited at all Cinderella premieres as a valuable exhibit. It is physically impossible to walk in it due to the high rise and lack of a platform. "But crystal shoes are more of a fetish, right?"- says Sandy.

Sandy Powell's exploits have inspired many designers to create their own work. In addition to Sandy, Disney also gave magic inspiration to the creators, having entered into partnership agreements with many of the designers. So, the Russian office asked our best designers to come up with their own image of a modern Cinderella. One of the main fashion stores in Moscow, TSUM, was connected to the project, where until March 31 you can see Cinderella dresses in the windows according to the version of 12 domestic fashion designers. We look at sketches, get inspired and get creative ourselves.

The shoe also became a source of inspiration - already for shoe designers. 11 shoe masters have presented their versions of the crystal shoe to the world, and unlike the Swarovski fetish, these shoes are wearable! Cinderella's shoes took part in a special Disney exhibition: in our country, the works of nine out of eleven designers are exhibited at TSUM until March 23.

Alexandre Birman (Alexander Birman)

“I was inspired to create crystal shoes by the classic beauty and femininity that, in my opinion, unite Cinderella and the Alexandre Birman brand. I've created a new version of my signature Johanna boats. Graceful curves, silk and Swarovski crystals make this pair of shoes trendy and romantic. It seems to me that such shoes could be worn by a modern princess. "

Charlotte Olympia

“It was a great joy and honor for me to offer Disney to create my own version of the famous crystal shoes. I worked on them with great pleasure and called them “If the shoe will fit”. The transparent platform is made of plastic, which I often use in my models. The shoes are decorated with stars and crystals, as befits a shoe designed for a princess. "

Salvatore Ferragamo

“Shoes that can turn a woman into a princess and give her the feeling that she is treading on the clouds is the dream of many. The modern tale of Cinderella opens up for us the soft sensuality and power of femininity in a new way. The shoe is literally created from air and light: the wedge-shaped heel, an iconic element of Salvatore Ferragamo footwear, is studded with Swarovski crystals and seems completely weightless. ”- Massimiliano Giornetti, Creative Director of Salvatore Ferragamo.

Jerome C. Rousseau

“I was inspired by the scene when the clock strikes midnight - the most intense moment in the Cinderella tale. The result is deep blue sandals with very high heels. The wide see-through membrane is reminiscent of a classic crystal shoe, while quirky gold and silver trims add playfulness. I wanted to create shoes that would captivate the prince even more. "

Jimmy Choo

“Any girl dreams of feeling like a Cinderella at least once in her life. This fairy tale awakens the love for shoes, which we carry through our whole life. Even as adults, we continue to feel the power of the miraculous transformation that so impressed us as a child. I wanted to create a truly magical pair of shoes, inviting, with a classic feminine silhouette, that can evoke those distant childhood emotions, ”commented Sandra Choi, Creative Director of Jimmy Choo.

Nicholas Kirkwood

“Cinderella is a gentle and, at the same time, a very strong-willed heroine. This is especially noticeable in the scene of her magical transformation. The character of Cinderella inspired me to create crystal shoes, the design of which resonates with the magic of the film. "

Paul Andrew

“Crystal slippers are every girl's dream. The tale of Cinderella inspired me to use the classic pointed-toe shoe shape for the Paul Andrew brand.
