Moscow International Festival "Circle of Light" - one of the largest and most popular festivals in Moscow, a grandiose celebration of light, in which talented lighting designers and specialists in audiovisual art from Russia and abroad compete in their skills, showing the public large-scale light shows and unusual installations.
Skillfully applying the video mapping technique and modern multimedia technologies, the masters transform the urban space and the architectural appearance of Moscow's symbolic buildings, the facades of which become a screen for large-scale video projections.

Light shows as part of the festival program will be held at 7 different venues, among which will traditionally be the Theater Square with the Bolshoi Theater, but the VDNKh space, which is no less familiar to the public, unfortunately, will not be used this year: a large-scale reconstruction is underway there. The "highlight" of this year promises to be the Ostankino tower, the height of video projections on which will reach 330 meters.

Ostankino will become one of the main venues of the festival: this is where the opening ceremony will take place! With the help of video projection, light, lasers and fire, viewers will be shown an amazing multimedia show, which will unfold both on the Ostankino tower and on the water surface of the Ostankino pond. Thanks to modern technologies, festival visitors will be able to travel to different countries of the world and see their natural beauty: Niagara Falls, Yellow Stone Park and Bamboo Flute Caves, Sahara sands, Great Barrier Reef, Baikal, Mount Fuji, French lavender fields and other places.
And on the Ostankino Tower itself, they will demonstrate a light show on the theme of the tallest buildings in the world: in turn, it will turn into the Eiffel Tower, New York's Empire State Building and Dubai's Burj Khalifa, as well as in the TV towers of Toronto, Shanghai, Tokyo and Sydney. The height of video projections will reach 330 meters!

For several years the Circle of Light festival has been held, Teatralnaya Square has become its traditional platform, however, if the show was usually shown on the facade of the Bolshoi Theater, this time it will unite 2 buildings at once: the Bolshoi and Maly theaters.
Taking into account the use of two facades at once, a unique light show was developed in which their interaction will become part of one story: the play "Celestial Mechanics" will tell the audience about love and loneliness, about the impossibility of being one, but at the same time - the impossibility of full acceptance of one person by another ... And during the light show "Timeless", the audience in the company of Alexander Ostrovsky will get acquainted with the history and cult performances of the Maly Theater.

The country's main television tower is celebrating its half-century anniversary this year. The technology of projecting volumetric images onto an architectural object - video mapping, will allow the birthday girl to “try on” the images of the seven tallest buildings in the world. Famous skyscrapers and TV towers in France, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, the USA, China, Japan and Australia will appear in front of the audience against the backdrop of the natural attractions of these countries, which is due to the Year of the Environment taking place in Russia. Fountains, burners, lighting devices will be installed at the Ostankino pond. Guests will be presented with an extraordinary multimedia show combining light, lasers, choreography of fountains and fire, as well as a grand pyrotechnic show. An ice rink will be built on the pond for skaters to perform.
Theater Square, familiar to regular spectators of the "Circle of Light", for the first time this year will use the facades of both the Bolshoi and the Maly theaters for performances. All days of the festival, two thematic light shows will be shown here: "Celestial Mechanics" - about loneliness and love, and "Timeless" - stories based on the works of outstanding Russian playwrights. Also on the facades of the leading theaters of Russia will be shown the works of the finalists of the international competition Art Vision, held within the framework of the festival.
In Tsaritsyno Park every day, from 19:30 to 23:00, visitors will be able to see the impressive audiovisual performance "The Palace of the Senses" on the building of the Great Catherine Palace and the mesmerizing light and music show of fountains on the Tsaritsyno Pond. On September 24, the art group SOPRANO by Mikhail Turetsky will perform here, and on the rest of the days, the unique vocals of the female group will sound in the recording, accompanying video projections on the facade of the palace. The next day, September 25, the People's Artist of Russia Dmitry Malikov will give a concert. The Tsaritsyno Park will be decorated with amazing installations from the world's leading lighting designers for the entire festival period.
The finale of the Circle of Light festival will be a grandiose fireworks display - the first Japanese pyrotechnics show in Russia, which will be staged in the Stroginskaya Poima on September 27. For this, barges will be installed on the water, on which pyrotechnic installations will be placed. The charges of Japanese fireworks are much larger than usual, each shot is made by hand, and the drawing is individualized. They will open at an altitude of 500 meters, and the diameter of the light domes will be about 240 meters.
The festival events will take place in parallel on two indoor venues. On September 24, in the theater and concert hall "Mir", the "Art Vision VJing" competition will take place, where teams from different countries will compete in the skill of creating light images to music.
