How to install an application on an android via a computer. Correct installation of the application on Android via computer

In this article, we will talk with you about how to install applications or games from * .apk files on Android. Sooner or later, the owners of devices running Android are faced with a situation where the standard functionality of the system is boring, and there is an irresistible desire to expand it.

Unlike iOS, where the installation of applications is basically based on work with the iTunes Store, the developers from Google have provided the ability to install programs by standard means. But for this you need to allow the installation of applications from unknown sources, go to Settings / Settings -> Applications / Application Settings and put a tick in front of the Unknown Sources item.

All applications for the Android operating system come with a * .apk file extension. As for the structure of such files, in fact an apk file is an ordinary archive, the contents of which you can view with any archiver. The Android operating system independently recognizes such files and understands what to do with them. Thus, you can install applications on Android in several ways.

1. Installing * .apk file on Android

The first, and in our opinion the most common way is to install the * .apk file on Android using the file manager. All you need to do for this is to transfer the * .apk file to the SD card of your device. Then use any available file manager with the ability to install applications. We recommend using ASTRO File Manager or ES File Explorer.

Then launch the file manager, find the * .apk file and install the application using the standard Android installer.

In addition, you can install the application without using file managers, using a standard browser. Just enter content: //com.android.htmlfileprovider/sdcard/FileName.apk in the address bar and the installation will start automatically. In this example, the * .apk file is located in the root folder of the SD card.

2. Installation using application manager

The second and easiest way to install * .apk files on Android is to use application managers. These programs are created in order to simplify as much as possible the procedure for installing applications through * .apk files. And indeed it is! We have tested a program called SlideME Mobentoo App Installer, which we recommend to you.

SlideME Mobentoo App Installer will scan the SD card of your device as quickly as possible and display a list of all found * .apk files. Then you can easily install the necessary applications in one click.

3. Installation using computer and USB

In addition to the above, we know one more, and perhaps the most convenient way is to install * .apk applications by connecting the Android device to a computer via a USB cable. We recommend that you use the InstallAPK program and USB drivers.

Just install InstallAPK on your computer, then connect your smartphone via USB cable and double click on the * .apk file. The program independently identifies the * .apk file and starts installing the application on your Android device.

Sometimes, using a smartphone, you cannot create a high-speed Internet connection, but you need to download a game or something else. Therefore, it is worth knowing how to install a program from a computer on Android.

It happens that it is much easier to do this through a PC. Moreover, for some reason, some add-ons in the official Google Play store do not want to be installed and downloaded from a computer, and then it will be much easier to transfer them to the device. This can be done in a few simple steps.

On some Android devices, you can't just download software from your computer and install them. Before that, you need to allow the device to install from unidentified sources:

  1. Open the settings.
  2. We find the item "Applications".
  3. We find and put a tick on the item, which will be named something like this: "Unknown sources" - on different versions of Android it will look different, but the value remains the same.

Downloading to PC

Files that are installers of applications for Android OS have the apk extension. This is the installer you need to download if you want to use any software downloaded from your computer.

You can find them both in the web version of Google Play (the official app store for Android), and on the sites of various programs that offer an Android version of their product. If you are interested in a specific game or utility, then the best solution would be to visit the developer's website and download the latest version there: sometimes there are problems on Google Play when downloading some add-ons.

Throwing the installer

Now you need to transfer the file with the apk extension to your device. This can be done in several ways: using Wi-Fi, USB, Bluetooth, or via an SD card.

Let's choose the two most common ones: transfer the installer via USB and via an SD card. It is much easier, however, many people use just these methods.

Via USB

To do this, you just need to connect the Android device to the PC via a USB cable. Then we enable file sharing. After that, it will be possible to view all data from the Android system from the computer, as well as add your own.

Now we just transfer the file with the apk extension to one of the folders in the system directory. It is best to choose a folder that you can then easily find, such as Downloads / Downloads.

Memory card

It is also easy to transfer the installer via the SD card. To do this, simply connect it to a laptop via a card reader or a special adapter.

If you have previously used the SD card as data storage in an Android tablet or smartphone, then you will see the already created Android folder directory. Then just flip the installer in the same way as described above.

If you just purchased the SD card or used it somewhere else, then just drop the apk file from your computer to a location convenient for us. Then we connect the card to Android. After that, all that remains is to install.

By the way, you won't be able to install add-ons to your device on a memory card in this way. As a result, it will still be located in the gadget's memory. If you want to transfer part of the software to external memory, you need to find all the programs that can be located on the card in the "Settings", in the "Applications" item. This can be done by opening the tab for the removable storage device. There you can also transfer what you need to a removable drive.

In 2008, Google opened an online app store for Android. To use it, you only need a Gmail account and Internet access. Meanwhile, there are other ways, and today, we will talk about how to install an application on Android from a computer.

Google web version

You can use Google Play not only from a mobile device. By registering under your account, you will be able to log into it through your computer. All the programs located in it are available in the web interface of the store, and "Corporation of Good" will automatically check compatibility with your devices. Using the search, select the application you are interested in and click "Install".

Google will verify that your password is correct, making sure that you are the one who is logged into your account, after which the window shown in the screenshot will appear. At the top, a selection menu is available. It displays the last used device, and a drop-down list allows you to select the one you need. After reviewing the permissions that the application requests, re-agree with the installation. After a while, the Android device will signal that the application requested in the store has been automatically installed.

Setup file

For various reasons, not all applications end up in the official Google store. As an actual example, let us recall the versions of the mobile client of one popular social network, modernized by enthusiasts, which allow downloading the music placed in it to a mobile device. The application has been removed from the store, but you can find it as an installation package. All programs that can be installed on devices using the "green robot" have the "apk" extension. Having downloaded such a file to your computer, you can use it for its intended purpose in several ways.

USB connection

Almost any mobile device can be connected to a computer using USB. To do this, you need to put it into debug mode, and in the "Security" settings section, mark the option to install from "unknown" sources.

This term refers to all software that gets to Android bypassing the Google Play store, has not been moderated in it or has been excluded. After copying the apk file to the device memory, you can open it in the built-in file manager and start the installation. For this purpose, third-party file applications such as ES File Explorer or the mobile version of Total Commander may also be suitable.

SD card recording

When the SD card installed in the phone for memory expansion is used in file storage mode, it can be used to transfer applications from the computer to the mobile device. Having connected it through a card reader, in flash drive mode, write down the necessary installation packages and return it to the phone.

In the file manager, find the folder with the recorded files and start the installation using the operating system tools.

Installers for Windows

The presence of special utilities designed to work with "apk" files in Windows OS, allows you to install a third-party application on your smartphone in two clicks. Previously, on an Android device, you will need to enable USB debugging in the options intended for developers and allow installing software from "unknown" sources.

It will take longer to prepare your computer. First, you need to install the ADB driver on it. You can get them as part of the Software Developer Kit for Android Developers or by downloading a separate archive. Then the InstallAPK program is installed. If everything is done correctly, the device is detected when connected via USB and you can work with it.

Find previously downloaded applications using the standard Windows Explorer and run, like any program, with a double click.

Adb driver and command line

If the previous method seemed difficult to you, you don't even need to start it. Users who have had to work with ADB and are familiar with the Windows command line can use it to install programs through a PC. The method of connecting the device will be similar to that already used. On your smartphone, mark the items necessary for communication via a USB cable, and by running the command line you get to work.

The screenshot shows the command used to install the hello_world.apk test application and the result of this operation. With a little skill, any necessary applications are installed in this way, and getting root access to the device is not required.
