Step by step drawing process:

We will start with a complex example, at the end of which you will understand how to draw a fish step by step in 7 steps. This is a tricky way to draw and if you want something simpler, you can just scroll down the page. Below we will analyze simpler drawing methods.

First, we need to make a sketch like in the picture below. It should be as symmetrical as possible.

Draw on the tail on the right side. Its lower part may be slightly longer than the upper one.

Now we take the eraser and erase all the extra lines. Also, on the tip we will paint the mouth with a short strip, and add an eye a little higher.

Let's draw fins. Note that the right sides of all three fins should be sharp.

As usual, the first step is to draw the sketch. In this case, we have a standard fish set: body, fins, tail.

Based on the contours of our sketch, we need to draw a large mouth and a large eye. The drawing will be done in a cartoon style, which is why some parts should be larger than usual.

We detail the limbs of our fish with strokes.

We have come to a rather interesting point, to coloring. To achieve the effect of cartoon volumetricness, we need two shades of orange: the first is darker, the second is lighter. These can be shades of not only orange, but in general any color that you only find on your table.

We paint our character with a dark color, as in the example below.

Now paint over the rest of it with a lighter color. This way we can achieve a cartoonish effect.

So, I needed to draw a coin. On the Internet, it turned out to be rather scarce for lessons in drawing gold. The only one I found didn’t really impress me, so I didn’t use the palette suggested there. Instead, I found a photograph of a gold coin on a white background, which was not affected by the reflexes of nearby objects, and took the primary colors with an eyedropper. After carefully studying how light and shadow work on the surface of real coins, I began to draw my own. First, I made a circle with a base color on top of the sketch on a new layer. I drew a coin further, merging the layers all the time and therefore, unfortunately, somewhere in the middle of the process I got carried away and forgot to save a couple of stages. =)

After that I marked the outline of the drawing on the coin. Since my girlfriend was a cheat, I decided to draw two dice. Also, do not forget that coins usually have a protruding border (border). Without it, your money will look a little flat and not realistic.

Now I create a temporary layer at the bottom and make the circle a little bit darker. Then I merge the layers. You will need this dark outline to create the volume of the coin while maintaining its perfectly-regular contours. On the coin itself, I draw the outline of the cube, marking the places of the deepest shadow. My cube will be convex.

And I repeat the same trick to create an inner "shadow"

Now I paint over the cube in a lighter tone, thereby showing that it is a little convex and marking the edges with a bright yellow color. At the junction points, the edges usually sparkle with light, thereby giving a relief to the picture. But for now, of course, everything looks very flat.

The next step is to intensify the light and add a slightly soft brush of light color to the coin itself, making its surface appear to be non-monotonous. By the way, I paint everything with a simple hard brush, changing the opacity and pressure.

Having decided that everything looks too clear, I decided to blur everything with the Blur filter. Nothing complicated - just now the contours have become smoother and more blurred. It could also have been done with a simple stiff brush, but I had a small size, and I didn't want to bother with this stage especially, since it was not at all essential.

And here I got carried away and missed the stage. But there is nothing difficult here. First, I darkened a little coin around the cubes, thereby bringing them forward and indicated the place of the highlight, where the main light source falls. I cut out a hole that I had forgotten about initially, because that is a medallion. Then everything was done with a simple point brush. I took a brush from the set called Texture (curved points in fact). Actually, I really liked this brush and added it to my set of brushes, which have a couple more from Martha Dalig. I applied dark and light spots on a new layer with very low opacity, wiped them in the shadows and merged the layers. Then I again went over the entire coin using the clarifier tool with the same texture brush.

This stage was very small, but also very important. Gold tends to be red and this should be taken into account. Plus, I drew a coin on the skin, which means it should take on its color a little. Therefore, I applied a thin layer on top of the coin with a soft brush in Soft Light mode with a very low opacity, which made it more harmonious. In my opinion, of course

In general, the process is coming to an end, because a small coin does not require much detail and it is only important for me that it resembles a real one. I go with a very low intensity clarifier tool over those areas that are closer to us (that is, convex ones), and then with a simple thin hard brush I make many long chaotic stripes of white across the coin, trying to convey its scratched appearance. This is especially not noticeable, but still it seemed to me that the coin looks more natural.

Stage 2. Now we will begin to draw up the figure of the fish according to the initial sketches. We draw lines from one end of the body, then outline the extended part - the head - and then narrow the line down.

Stage 3. Here we show the lower part of the muzzle. We round it smoothly into a semicircle, select the line of the nose on the right and the line of the mouth in the middle.

Stage 4. Now draw two eyes along the curve on the face. They are quite large, surrounded by centuries. And above and below the line of the mouth we make lips. The lips of the fish are plump, the upper one is, as it were, raised, the lower one is, as it were, lowered.

Stage 5. Let's finish the eyes to the end. We draw round eyes with reflections of light reflected in them. Show cilia on the upper eyelids. Above the eyes, there are pretty raised eyebrows. On the head of the Goldfish, draw a crown. First, draw a double curved line and from it upward the teeth of the crown, decorated at the ends with balls.

Stage 6. Here we will draw the lines of the body behind the right cheek and the initial strokes of the fins: abdominal and one pectoral.

Stage 7. Draw the pelvic fins. There are two of them. They are located in front of the head. They resemble curved leaves in shape. Draw one larger fin on the side of the body - this is the pectoral one. It is necessary to show strokes on the fins - these are fin thin rays.

Stage 8. The turn of the caudal fin has come. He is, as it were, divided in two by the Goldfish. It starts from the end of the body and goes down, branching in two directions. On it, it is also necessary to show with strokes the fin rays - thin bones supporting the fin itself.

Stage 9. Now we need to finish drawing one more pectoral fin. He goes symmetrically to his paired brother (in our case he is shown just below the chin of the fish). And behind her is a large unpaired dorsal fin.
