After that we went to the museum itself. Entering the corridor, we found ourselves in a kind of gallery. There were many busts and statues. From there we have already got into the inner courtyard. It was already more interesting there. There were marble sarcophagi along the perimeter (but they reminded me more of baths). They could be touched and photographed. In addition, this is where Apollo Belvedere is located. As the guide explained, this is a marble copy and the fact that it was made before our era does not make it as valuable as the lost bronze original. Personally, such a strange attitude towards ancient sculptures has always confused me. Doesn't the fact that this work is more than one century does not make it a real treasure ?! But this is at the discretion of historians. The very image of the ancient Greek god did not really impress me. He looks too much like a teenage boy.

Then we visited the rotunda, where there were not only marble, but also bronze sculptures. After that we went from hall to hall. There were also many ancient Greek and Roman statues, as well as colored mosaics on the floor. But here I remember most of all the statue of the disco ball. Not because she was beautiful, but because I finally saw the statue that so often flashed in history books.

We walked through a very beautiful tapestry room. But the impression of the hall with the maps was spoiled by the restoration work. But the part of the ceiling that was not hidden is really magnificent.

Wandering through the halls and staircases, I saw enough of a lot of beautiful works. It was nice that the Vatican keeps all the gifts. I even photographed Saint Grigor donated by the Armenians.

Particular attention was paid to the visit to the Sistine Chapel. At the entrance there were signs with the prohibition of filming, the observance of silence and what kind of clothes were allowed to be there. In addition, there were employees who were monitoring the observance of these rules. The chapel itself is really very beautiful. But there are so many people there that it is simply not realistic to stay for a long time. There were people from all over the world. Different ages. There were a lot of elderly people.

After the crowd in the chapel, a visit to the Cathedral of St. Petra became especially pleasant. It was much more spacious there. Again, due to the group excursion, I did not have to stand in lines. The first thing that caught my eye was that there were some patterns and decorations on all the walls, columns and arches.

Lots of sculptures and paintings. Of course, there was a line to the statue of Peter himself. Not to pray, but to rub his leg for good luck. There were fewer people even around Michelangelo's Pieta. Although, in my opinion, such a significant attraction should attract much more believers (in addition, it was a little offensive that the glass enclosing Pieta is very thick and it is normal not to photograph because the lighting is dimmed in the room and glare is obtained due to flashes) ...

After visiting the cathedral, the whole group went to St. Peter. There we were taken to the guard of the Swiss Guard. It was even a little sorry for them - they are on public display in a very funny form.

The square itself is bright and beautiful. You can walk on it for at least an hour. But we didn't have an hour. We hurried to the souvenir shop. There, everyone could buy icons, bells, reproductions. I bought a silver angel pendant.
