GBOU SOSH pos. Svetlodolsk

2015 year.

Note to the script festival "Friendship of Peoples - 2015"

held in GBOU SOSH village. Svetlodolsk.

In 2016, Samara and the entire region will celebrate the 165th anniversary of the founding of the Samara province. On the eve of this significant date, various events are held in different parts of our region: film festivals, exhibitions, poetry evenings, meetings with interesting people.

Our school also did not remain indifferent and gladly took part in this anniversary marathon.

December 3, 2015 in GBOU SOSH village. Svetlodolsk hosted the Friendship of Peoples festival. Our region has become a home for people of different nationalities. We can hear Tatar speech, and Ukrainian dialect, and melodious songs of Moldovans, and sparkling dances of gypsies. That is why our school decided to hold an event where you could see the entire national flavor of our region.

This event was school-wide, pupils from grades 1 to 11 took part in it. After choosing the people they liked, each class prepared a national song, dance and dish. And there was no one who would have stayed away from this event, since the topic of commonwealth and unity of peoples was touched upon in our school for the first time. All week before this event, topics for conversation among students, as well as teachers in the classroom and during breaks were related only to the upcoming festival. Everyone at school tried to offer their own idea: what dance to dance, what song to sing, what costume to choose, especially many ideas were associated with the choice of a dish that could vividly represent the national cuisine of a particular people.

On the appointed day and time, the school opened its doors to the guests and participants of the long-awaited festival. “Guests” from Ukraine, Tatarstan, Belarus, the Republic of Moldova, and even from the distant exotic state of Vietnam walked along the school corridors. Of course, there were also Russians among these guests. They were represented by the smallest residents of the school country - first graders.

There was a full house in the assembly hall of the school. There were so many participants and guests that "the apple had nowhere to fall." However, this did not in any way affect the mood and atmosphere of the whole action. Each performance of the participants was greeted and escorted by stormy applause and joyful exclamations. The atmosphere was so friendly that even the smallest artists were not afraid to go on stage and show their emotions. And if someone was wrong, the audience encouraged them with the words: "Well done!" After the performance of the artists, a general photograph was taken to commemorate such a large and significant event. But the festival did not end there, the final chord of the event was an exhibition of national dishes, organized in the hall, where everyone could taste them and take the recipe of the dish into their culinary piggy bank.

The festival has come to an end, but for a long time delight and admiration about what he saw was heard. Parents shared their opinions that their efforts and their children's efforts were not wasted. Everyone asked each other which people were the brightest, but no one could give an unequivocal answer to this question. Each nation had its own flavor: whether it was the choice of costume, song or dance. Even after leaving the school, the participants and guests continued to discuss and share their opinions with those who could not attend the celebration. Others, in turn, charged with positive energy and emotions from the stories, regretted that they could not find the time and get to the festival.

After listening to the opinions of everyone, we can say with confidence that the event, unusual for the school, went well and everyone will remember it for a long time. Parents expressed their wishes that such holidays should be held as often as possible. “The holiday gave us not only a fireworks of emotions,” said most of the parents, “but we also replenished the collection of knowledge about the peoples living in our region.”

It was clear that the festival brought everyone together. Everyone lived with him throughout the preparation and conduct of the event. Everyone tried to come to school as soon as possible in order to plunge again into a culture that was so dear to him. Each has become a part of the multinational region, which is called the Samara Region.

Question... Who is "Pure at heart"?

Answer... Who does not know behind himself contempt for the commandment of God, or insufficient or negligent fulfillment of it.

Rules summarized in questions and answers.

St. John Chrysostom

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God

Here is the spiritual reward again! He calls pure here those who have acquired complete virtue and do not recognize any guile behind themselves, or those who live a life of chastity, because in order to see God, we do not need anything so much as this virtue. ... That is why Paul said: "Try to have peace with everyone and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord"(Hebrews 12:14). Vision here means what is only possible for a person. Since many are merciful, they do not steal someone else's, they are not covetous, but, meanwhile, commit fornication and indulge in lust, then Christ, showing that the first is not enough, adds this commandment. Paul, in his epistle to the Corinthians, confirmed the same with the example of the Macedonians, who were rich not only in mercy, but also in other virtues: pointing there to their generosity in the distribution of property, he says that they "Give yourself up to the Lord and to us"(2 Cor. 8: 5).

Conversations on the Gospel of Matthew.

St. Athanasius the Great

because he who has cleansed his heart from all passionate affection in his own sweetness sees the image of God's nature. And spiritual purity is sufficient to depict God in oneself, as in a mirror.

And if it says: no one is clean from filth, if only one day is his life(Job 14: 4-5); then heretics do not know that of course this is about natural defilement, which the baby brings with him, proceeding from the mother's womb. That is why the law-writer Moses said that a woman who gives birth is unclean; and having given birth to a male sex, is unclean for forty days, and having given birth to a female sex, because of the greater mobility of nature, unclean eighty days(Lev. 12: 2-5). And if it were not for what is contained in the law of Moses, then the natural order would provide evidence from the other side. What sin can a baby commit if he has only one day of life? Adultery? Of course not; for he is not yet strong in sensual lust. Fornication? also not, for he is alien to such a desire. Murder? but he is unable to raise the lethal weapon. Perjury? but he is not yet capable of articulate sounds. Dashing? but he has no idea about other people's property, or about his own. On the contrary, babies are filled with unremembering malice; for until they mature, they beg when they are beaten, and do not defend themselves when they are persecuted. Why did the Lord say to those who believe in Him: If you do not turn and be like children, do not enter the kingdom of heaven(Matthew 18: 3). And since babies are not subject to such sins, what kind of sin does a child have on the first day after birth, besides bodily, as we said, filth? Therefore, it is not said: no one is clean "from sin" (ἀπὸ ἁμαρτίας), but it is said - from defilement (ἀπὸ ῥύπου).

From Conversations on the Gospel of Matthew.

St. Gregory the Theologian

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God

“We have been given the promise that we will know once as we ourselves are known (1 Cor. 13:12). If it is impossible for me to have the perfect knowledge of beings, here; what else remains? What can I hope? Without a doubt, you will say the Kingdom of Heaven. But I think that it is nothing more than the comprehension of the purest and most perfect. And the most perfect of all that exists is the knowledge of God. "

Creations.

St. Gregory of Nyssa

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God

What is natural to feel when looking from some lofty peak at some vast sea; my understanding suffered the same, as if from the top of some mountain, from this lofty utterance of the Lord, looking into the inexplicable depth of thought. In many coastal places one can see a semi-truncated mountain from the coastal side, cut from top to bottom in a straight line, while its upper edge, leaning from a height, hangs over the abyss. What naturally happens to one who, standing on such a guard, looks from a great height at the sea in the depths; so my soul is now spinning, bewildered by this great utterance of the Lord.

Blessed are those who are pure in heart: for they will see God. God is offered to the sight of those who have purified the heart. But, as the great John says, God is no one anywhere (John 1:18). You confirm this, and the lofty understanding Paul, saying: Nobody saw him there is from the person below you see the place(1 Tim. 6:16). It is a smooth and insectable stone that does not show any trace of the ascent of thoughts; about Him and Moses also affirmed that He is not available to those who intend to teach the doctrine of God; because our understanding cannot in any way approach Him, because of the resolute denial of any possibility of comprehending Him. For Moses says: it is impossible for anyone to see the face of the Lord, and to live(Ex. 33:20). But to see God is eternal life, and these are the pillars of faith: John, Paul and Moses admit this is impossible! Do you see the whirling in which the soul is carried away into the depths of what is seen in the word? If God is life; whoever does not see Him does not see life either. And that it is impossible to see God, God-bearing prophets and apostles testify. What can human hope rest on? But the Lord reinforces the diminishing hope as He did with Peter, who was in danger of drowning, again placing him on firm water that does not yield to the pressure of his feet. Therefore, if the hand of the Word reaches out to us, and will place those who are not firmly in the depths of speculation on firm thought; we will be out of fear, holding fast to the Word that guides us. For it is said: blessedness of a pure heart: for they will see God.

Therefore, this promise is such that to transcend every limit of bliss. For after such a blessing, will anyone desire anything else, in that which he has seen, having everything? Because to see, according to the usual use of words in Scripture, means the same thing to have: for example, in the words: behold the good Jerusalem(Psalm 127: 6) Scripture means you will find. And in the above: let the wicked take care, let not see the glory of God(Ps. 26:10), in a word: he does not see, the Prophet expresses that he will not partake thereof. Therefore, whoever sees God, in this sight already has everything that is in the list of blessings, endless life, eternal incorruption, immortal bliss, endless kingdom, endless joy, true light, spiritual and sweet food, unapproachable glory, endless joy and all good. Therefore, it is so important and abundant that the promise of this bliss is offered to hope.

But since, in order to behold the Lord, a way is shown in advance, just to have for this heart purity; then again my understanding is exhausted; and this purity of the heart is not something impossible for us, and does it not exceed our nature? For if in this way God is visible, but Moses and Paul did not see God, and assert that they themselves, and anyone else, cannot see; what is now proposed by the word of bliss is apparently something impossible. Therefore, what is the use of knowing how to see God, if understanding is not possible at the same time? This is just as if someone called it blessed to be in heaven; because there a person will see what is not seen in this life. If it was indicated in advance in the word any instrument for ascending to heaven; it would be useful for the listeners to also inquire that it is blessed to be in heaven. And how the ascent is impossible, what benefit will the knowledge of heavenly bliss bring, grieving only those who have inquired, what we are deprived of, due to the impossibility of ascent?

Therefore, is it possible that the Lord commands that which is outside our nature, and exceeds the measure of human strength by the greatness of the commandment? No. For he does not command those who have not fledged to become birds, and those to whom he gave life on land to live under water. Therefore, if for all others the law is consistent with the forces of those who accept and nothing is forced to the supernatural; then, of course, in consequence of this, and we understand this in such a way that it is not hopelessly predictable in bliss. Yes, and John, and Paul, and Moses, and anyone else, if similar to them, are not deprived of this high bliss, which is in the sight of God, and he who said: the crown of righteousness is observed for me, the righteous Judge will reward it ( 2 Tim. 4: 8), and the one who fell to the Persians of Jesus, and the one who heard the Divine voice: vem cha, most of all(Ex. 33:17). Therefore, if about those who proclaimed that the comprehension of God is higher than forces, there is no doubt that they are blessed, and the blessedness consists in seeing God, sight is given to a pure heart; that means that purity of heart is not impossible, in which one can become blissful.

Therefore, how can we say that they speak the truth in accordance with Paul who assert that the comprehension of God is above our strength, and the Lord's word does not contradict them, promising that with a purity of heart God will be visible? It seems to me that in order for the review of what has been proposed to proceed in our order, it would be good to first offer a brief discussion about this. The nature of God, in itself, in its essence, is higher than any comprehending thinking, as inaccessible to conjectural inventions and not coming close to them; and in people no power has yet been discovered to comprehend the incomprehensible, and no means has been invented to comprehend the inexplicable. Therefore, the great Apostle calls the ways of God unexplored (Rom. 11:33), meaning with this word that on this path, which leads to the knowledge of God's essence, human thoughts cannot ascend, so that on it almost none of those who passed this life before us no trace is left by the comprehending imagination which would be signified by the knowledge of that which is higher than the knowledge. But being such by nature, He who is above all nature, this invisible and indescribable, in another respect is visible and comprehended. There are many ways of such comprehension. For, and according to the wisdom visible in the universe, one can divinely see the One who created everything in wisdom. As in human works, the mind sees in some way the creator of the exhibited creation who has invested art in his work; it is not the nature of the artist that is seen, but only the artistic knowledge that the artist has put into the work; so we, looking at the beauty in creation, imprint in ourselves the concept of not the essence, but the wisdom of the wisdom of everything that created everything. If we argue about the reason for our life, exactly the same, that not out of necessity, but out of good will, God started to create man, again we say that in this way, we saw God, having comprehended goodness, and not essence. So everything else that leads us to the concept of a better and more sublime, like this we call the comprehension of God, because every sublime thought represents God to our eyes. For both power, and purity, and immutability, and non-connectivity with the opposite! " So from what has been said, it is revealed that the Lord is true in His promise. saying that those who have a pure heart will see God; and Paul does not lie, claiming in his own words that no one has seen and cannot see God; for the Invisible by nature becomes visible in actions, seen in anything from that which is around Him.

But the meaning of what has been said about bliss is not limited only to the fact that for any action one can draw similar conclusions about the one acting. For even the wise of this age are accessible, perhaps according to the structure of the world, the comprehension of the highest wisdom and power. But the greatness of bliss, it seems to me, teaches a different advice to those who are able to accept this in order to see what is desired. The thought presented to me will be explained by examples. In human bodily life, health is a kind of blessing, but it is not blissful to know only what health is, but to live in health. For if someone, while giving up praise for health, takes in food that delivers bad juices and unhealthy food, then, oppressed by ailments, what benefit will he receive from praise for health? Therefore, let us also understand the proposed word, namely, that the Lord, not knowing anything about God, but having God in oneself, calls bliss, for bliss is pure in heart: as if they will see God. But not as a sight, it seems to me. before the face of him who has cleansed the eye of the soul, God is offered; on the contrary, the height of this utterance, perhaps, represents to us, too, what the Word more openly stated, saying to others: the kingdom of God is within you(Luke 17:12) so that we may learn from this, that he who has cleansed his heart from every creature and from passionate disposition, in his own sweetness, see the image of God's nature. And it seems to me that in the little that has spoken, such advice is concluded by the Word: all of you, O people, in whom only there is any desire to look at the truly good, when you hear that God's command is above heaven and the glory of God is inexplicable, and the babble is inexpressible. , and nature is incompatible, do not fall into hopelessness, as if it is impossible to see what you want. For in you is the measure of comprehension of God that is sufficient for you, who created you in this way, immediately realizing such a good in nature; because in your composition I have imprinted the likeness of the blessings of my own nature, as if on some wax I have printed carvings. But vice, having washed away the godlike features, rendered useless the blessing, covered with vile veils. Therefore, if by a zealous life you again wash away the impurity that has been deposited on your heart, then the godlike babble will shine in you. As is the case with iron, when the rust has been removed from it with a grindstone; Having recently been black, with the sun it shuts down some rays from itself, and emits a brilliance: so the inner man, whom the Lord calls the heart, when the rust of impurity that has appeared on his image from bad love will again take on the likeness of a prototype, and will be kind; because like good is no doubt good. Therefore, whoever sees himself sees in himself what is desired; and thus the pure in heart becomes blessed, because, looking at his own purity, in this image he sees the archetype. For as those who see the sun in a mirror, although they do not direct their gaze to the sky itself, nevertheless see suns in the radiance of the mirror no less than those who look at the very circle of the sun; so you also, says the Lord, although you do not have the strength to discern the light, but if you return to the grace of the image that was communicated to you at the beginning, then you have what you are looking for. For purity, dispassion, alienation from all evil is the Divine. Therefore, if this is in you, then, without a doubt, God is in you, when your thought is clean from all vice, free from passions and far from all defilement, you are blessed in your witness; because, having purified himself, he saw the invisible for those who were not purified, and having removed the material darkness from the eyes of the soul, in the clear sky of the heart you clearly see a blessed spectacle. What exactly? Purity, holiness, simplicity, and all such luminous reflections of God's nature, in which we see God.

And that this is really so, we do not doubt on the basis of what has been said. But what made our word difficult at the beginning, it remains with the same inconvenience. If everyone agrees that the one who is in heaven participates in heavenly miracles, then, since the method of ascent there is impossible, agreement in this does not benefit us at all: it is also certain that, after cleansing the heart, a person becomes blessed; but how he can cleanse it of the defiling one is almost exactly the same as ascent to heaven. Therefore, is there any ladder of Jacob, any fiery chariot, similar to the one that lifted the Prophet Elijah to heaven? on which would our hearts, having risen to the highest miracles, lay down this earthly burden? If anyone can imagine in his mind the necessary mental suffering; then it is difficult and impossible to recognize removal from the evils associated with it. Our very birth begins immediately with suffering, with suffering there is an increase, life ends with suffering, and evil in some way dissolves with nature through those who initially allowed suffering into themselves, instilled illness into themselves by listening. But as the succession of what belongs to each genus continues the nature of living beings, so that, according to the law of nature, what is born is also with the one who has given birth: so from a person is born a person, from a passionate passionate person, from a sinner a sinner. Therefore, in those who are reborn, in a certain way, sin is composed, both reborn and growing, and ending with the limit of life.Opposite to the fact that virtue is unacceptable for us, that with our sweat and labor with diligence and exhaustion we hardly succeed in it, we learn from many passages of divine Scripture hearing that the path leading to the kingdom is narrow and narrow; but the one who leads by a vicious life into destruction is wide, tilted and trampled down. However, that an exalted life is not at all impossible, the Scriptures confirmed this, presenting to us the miraculous deeds of so many men in the sacred books. But since the promise to see God contains a twofold meaning, one is to know the nature of everything that exceeds, and the other is to enter into union with Him through purity of heart: then the first kind of understanding, according to the word of the saints, is recognized as impossible, the other is the Lord promises to human nature in this teaching. having said: blessed be a pure in heart: for they will see God.

And how to become clean, you can learn the ways to this from almost every Gospel teaching. For, moving on to the following commandments, you will find a clear teaching about the purification of the heart. The Lord, dividing vice into two types, into one visible in deeds and on compiled in thoughts, the first kind, that is, the untruth found in deeds, punished according to the old law, but now he turned the attention of the law to another type of sin, not punishing a bad deed, but providing for that not even the beginning should be due to him. For it is much more important to remove vice from arbitrariness itself than to make life alien to evil deeds. Because vice is many parts and manifold; then the Lord in His commandments opposed each of the forbidden deeds with a special medicine. And as the affliction of anger in the course of his whole life more often and more clearly comprehends a person; then he begins by healing the prevailing, legitimizing, first of all, non-irascibility. You are taught, he says, by the old law: don't kill; and now learn to remove from the soul and anger at the tribesman (Matt. 5: 21-22); for the Lord did not forbid anger at all, because sometimes such a striving of the soul can be used for good, but to be angry ever against a brother without any good purpose - he extinguished such inflammation with the commandment, saying: be angry with your brother in vain... For the addition of the word: in vain shows that the discovery of irritation is often in good time, when this passion boils up during the punishment of sin. This kind of anger was in Phinehas, as the word of Scripture testified, when by the defeat of the wicked he pacified the indignation of God, which had been moved against the whole people. Then the Lord proceeds to heal the sins of voluptuousness, and by His commandment pulls out of the heart the inappropriate lust of adultery. So you will find that in the future the Lord corrects everything in order, deciding laws against each type of vices. Unrighteous hands forbid to dispose of themselves, not allowing them to take revenge. He casts out the passion of covetousness, ordering the one who is deprived of his clothes to add what is taken away, and the rest. Heals fear, commanding him to neglect death. And in general, you will find that in every commandment, cutting like a plow, a word from the depths of the heart pulls out evil roots, and thus cleans from the growth of thorns. So, both are a blessing of nature, and that which is commanded good, and that which is offered to us the doctrine of the present subject. If, in your opinion, the pursuit of good is difficult, then compare it with the opposite life; and you will find how much more difficult the vice is if you take into account not the present, but what will happen after. For whoever has heard of Gehenna, he will no longer with any difficulty or effort move away from sinful pleasures; but on the contrary, fear alone that has taken possession of his thoughts is enough for him to drive out the passions from himself. It is better to say that for those who have comprehended what is implied in the silence, that which they receive from this the strongest desire is also in favor. For if blessed are the pure in heart, then of course those who are defiled by the mind are pitiful, because they see the face of the opposing one. And if the features of the Divine itself are imprinted in a virtuous life, then it is obvious that vicious life is made in the image and face of the enemy. But if God, according to various ideas, is called everything that we imagine to be good, light, life, incorruptible, and that only is similar to this kind; then, of course, and vice versa, all this opposite will be called the inventor of vice, and darkness, and death, and corruption, and everything that is homogeneous and akin to this.

So, having found out from what vice and virtuous life are formed in us, because, according to freedom of will. We have been given authority for both of this, we will avoid the devil's image, we will reject this evil personification, we will take on the image of God, become pure in heart, to become blessed, as soon as a pure life is imagined in us God's image, in Christ Jesus, our Lord ... Glory and power to Him forever and ever! Amen.

About the Beatitudes. Step 6.

St. Chromatius of Aquileia

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God

He calls pure hearts those who, having rejected the filth of sin, cleansed themselves from all the uncleanness of the flesh and became pleasing to God by works of faith and righteousness, as David says in the psalm: Who will ascend the mountain of the Lord, or who will stand in His holy place? He who has innocent hands and a pure heart, who did not receive his soul in vain(Ps. 23: 3-4). With good reason, and David, knowing that God can only be seen with a pure heart, so prays in the psalm, saying: (Ps. 50:12). So God shows blessed pure in heart who, with a clean mind and an impeccable conscience, live in faith in God and in the future Kingdom of Heaven will be honored to see the God of glory no longer , but face to face(1 Cor. 13:12) as the apostle said.

St. Dmitry Rostovsky

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God

Those who are pure in heart are those who are straightforward and simple-hearted Christians and who carefully cherish the love of God and neighbor. This includes bodily and spiritual virginity, observed according to the power given by God, for the better pleasing of God. Here is no place for that virginity, which, although it does not have bodily confusion, but inside the fornication with permission.

A pure heart is that which, having renounced all self-indulgence, directs everything to the glory of God, even if it is eating and drinking; that is why everything is pure with him. And that heart, which is full of self-indulgence, is unclean, and by this self-indulgence it makes every action and movement unclean, because everything is done with self-pleasure, even that which in appearance seems self-sacrificing and directed towards God.

Interpretation of the Epistle to Titus.

The spirit of grace, having come and received being in the heart, removes it from the addiction to everything sensual and discourages the taste for it. If this settles in the heart, then what place will carnal lust find with it? Who have received the spirit and are pure in heart.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God

What do you say to that? But I know in advance what you’ll say. You will say: yes, as if the pure in heart will see God, but not here, but in the age to come. Since you do not believe in the blessings that God gives us in this present life and do not have a zealous desire to receive them for yourself, then you resort to the thought of the future age. But tell me, beloved, who hopes to see God in the age to come, how is it possible to be what you are talking about? If Christ said that with a pure heart we will see God, then it certainly follows that at all times, as soon as someone purifies his heart, he will also see God. You yourself, if you ever cleanse your heart, you will, of course, see God and know the truth of my words. But as you never thought in your mind to do this (to cleanse your heart) and did not believe that it really happens (that the pure in heart behold God), then you neglected to purify your heart and were not qualified to see God. Tell me, is it possible for a heart to become pure in real life? If possible, then it follows that everyone who is pure in heart beholds God in his present life. If you say that God is seen only after death, then I must say that purity of heart also occurs only after death. Thus, it may happen to you that you will not see God either in the present or in the next century. For after death you will no longer have the opportunity to do godly deeds in order to make your heart pure through them.

Words (Word 63).

Our Lord, following the gratification of mercy, said: blessedness of a pure heart, for they will see God. For, as our God and our Lawgiver, He knows that if the soul does not come into such a mood, that is, it does not become merciful, as we said, it does not always cry, does not become completely meek, does not thirst for God, then it cannot get rid of from passions and become pure, like a pure mirror. But if she does not become so, then she will in no way behold the face of our Lord and our God purely within herself. The same soul that becomes pure, forever beholds God and becomes friends with Him, and then there is peace between our Creator God and that soul, whereas before it was hostile to Him. Why, after this, she is pleased with God, like a peacemaker.

Words (Word 70).

A pure heart, I suppose, belongs to someone who not only does not feel anxious and burdensome with any passion, but does not even think of anything bad or worldly, even if he wants to, and keeps only the memory of God in himself with uncontrollable love. For the eye of the soul, the mind, when nothing interferes with its contemplation, sees God purely in pure light.

Activity and theological chapters. Section 164.

The heart is pure and it is called that which does not find in itself any thought or thought of the worldly, but everything is attached to God and is combined with Him so that it does not remember anything worldly, neither sad nor joyful, but prevails in contemplation, ascending to the third heaven delighting in paradise and seeing the inheritance of the blessings promised to the saints, in relation to which he then, as much as possible for human weakness, and eternal blessings. This is what serves as a sign of purity of the heart and a sure sign by which everyone can determine the measure of their purity and see themselves as in a mirror.

Activity and theological chapters. Section 167.

Be blessed, says God, with a pure heart, for they will see God (Matthew 5: 8)... Pure ... the heart is made not by one, not two, not ten virtues, but all together, merging, so to speak, into a single virtue that has reached the last degrees of perfection. However, even in this case, the virtues - alone - cannot make the heart pure without the influence and presence of the Holy Spirit. For as a kovac, no matter how skillfully he knows how to operate with tools, nothing can work without the assistance of fire, so let a person do everything from his side (to purify the heart), using virtues for this purpose as tools, but without the presence of the fire of the Spirit everything he does will remain inactive and useless for his purpose, since this alone does not have the power to cleanse the impurity and defilement of the soul.

Activity and theological chapters. Section 82.

Sixth question: How does Christ say: “Do not despise one of these little ones; for I say to you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven "(Matthew 18:10)? And again: "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God" (Matthew 5: 8)- and you say that the angels do not know who God is and where He is? Answer: As at noon we see the light shining and sent by the sun clearly, but the sun itself, what it is, we are unable to see and know, but we say that we truly see it, so the angels and saints beholding the glory of the Spirit shining like lightning, in they see both the Son and the Father. But not so are the sinners and the unclean, for they are like the blind and the insensible. As the blind do not see the shining light of the sensual sun, so they do not see the divine and eternally shining light and do not feel its warmth. The seventh question: What do the pure in mind and heart see? Answer: Since God is light (1 John 1: 5), and the light is the brightest, then those who see Him see nothing but light. This is assured by those who have seen the face of Christ, shining like the sun, and His garments become like light (Matt. 17: 2), and the Apostle Paul, who saw God as light and turned into the knowledge of Him (2 Cor. 4: 6), and myriads of others saints. Question eight: Why is God not visible to everyone, because He is the eternal and ever-shining light? Answer: Because this is how God arranged from the beginning, so that the darkness should have no communion with the light, and the unclean and filthy - with the holy and pure. For our sins, like the great chasm (Luke 16:26) and the wall, separate us from God (Isa. 59: 2). Most of all, sly memories and vain thoughts become a high wall and separate us from the true light of life. For God is light (1 John 1: 5) and life. It means that those deprived of this are dead in soul, they are co-heirs and partakers of eternal fire and eternal darkness.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God

Humility and malice (ascetic bodily deprivation) liberate a person from all sin - sometimes spiritual, cutting off passions, and this is bodily. Therefore, the Lord says: blessedness of a pure heart, for they will see God(Matthew 5: 8)- they will see both Him Himself and the treasures that are in Him, when they purify themselves with love and self-control - and this is all the more, the more they increase their purification.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God

80. He who has made [his] heart pure not only cognizes the logoi [of all] that is lower and after God, but also sees in himself, after passing through everything, the highest goal of blessings. In such a heart God is born, and on this heart, as if on some tablets of Moses, He deigns to inscribe by means of the [Holy] Spirit his own letters to the extent that it has grown itself according to the commandment, mysteriously commanding: Multiply(Gen. 35:11). 81. A heart is called pure, in which there is no natural movement towards anything [fleshly]. Thanks to the highest simplicity, God is born in such a heart and inscribes on it, as if on a smooth board, His laws. 82. A pure heart is that heart that presents to God [its] memory as completely formless and formless, and it is ready to be sealed only by those images of Him through which [God] is inherent to appear.

Chapters on theology. Second centurion.

The heart is pure when it provides God with its memory completely formless, without the interference of visions, ready to record only His patterns. This is how the saints gain God or, as the apostle said, we have the mind of Christ(1 Cor. 2:16), which does not deprive us of our own mental ability, does not become an addition to our mind and is not essentially connected with our mind in hypostasis, but enlightens the ability of our mind by its own quality, encouraging it to its own activity.

Evergetin.

He who has made his heart pure not only learns the meaning and significance of things that are secondary and after God, but, having gone through all of them, he sees God himself in some way: where is the ultimate limit of blessings. Having visited such a heart, God deigns to inscribe His writings on it by the Spirit, as on the tablets of Moses, to the extent that it has increased itself by good activity and contemplation, according to the commandment, mysteriously commanding: grow and multiply(Gen. 35:11).

The speculative and active chapters selected from the seven hundred chapters of the Greek Philanthropy.

If, according to the Divine Apostle, Jesus Christ lives in our hearts by faith (Eph. 3:17), and in him all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden: then in our hearts are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. They open up to the heart as everyone is cleansed by the commandments. Behold the treasure hidden in the village(Matthew 13:44) of your heart, which you have not yet found through idleness. For if he had, he would have sold everything, and would have bought this village. But you, leaving this village, work near it, where there is nothing but thorns and thistles. Therefore, the Savior says: Blessed be pure in heart, for they will see God (Matthew 5: 8)... They will see Him, and the treasures that are in Him, when they cleanse themselves with love and self-control, and even more so the more they are cleansed. For this reason, he says, sell your estates and give alms (Luke 12:33), and everything will be clean to you(Luke 11:41), as no longer dealing with things that touch the body, but trying to cleanse their minds from hatred and intemperance, which the Lord calls the heart (Matt. 15:19). For all this, defiling the mind, prevents it from seeing Christ living in it by the grace of holy baptism.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God

With a pure heart they will see God... God is the All-Seeing Eye, like a clever Sun, standing over the world, penetrating with its clever eyes into the thoughts and hearts of people, illuminating every creature. Our soul is an eye from an Eye, sight from Sight, light from Light. But now, after the fall, on our ocean - soul - disease - sins. Take off your thorn, and you will see the Mental Sun, the Endless Eye, the darkness that is the brightest of the material sun.

My life is in Christ.

In this commandment, the Lord, pleasing the pure in heart, inspires all of us to care for the acquisition of purity of the heart, which is the container of life, as the scripture says: Guard your heart with every care:(Proverbs 4:23), and on which our joys and sorrows, contentment and displeasure depend.

Are there any who live on earth who are pure in heart? In the New Testament, in the kingdom of grace, of course, there are people who are pure in heart, led by the Lord, as it is said: know the Lord who is His(2 Tim. 2:19), and sometimes shown to people, what are the holy saints of God, glorified by God during their lifetime with the gifts of clairvoyance and miracles, and all who are not malice and humble in heart. If the Lord pleases the pure in heart, then no doubt there really are; but the purity of heart in people is very, very rare, as rare is pure gold, as precious stones are rare; rare now, but even less often they were in the Old Testament, when the people of Israel lived under the law, and not under grace, and when the majority of the people were immersed in idolatry. All people are conceived and born in iniquity; only the grace of God will take away these iniquities and make some worthy ones their chosen vessels, purifying their hearts and souls. Behold, I will touch this to your mouth, and take away your iniquity, and cleanse your sins.(Isa. 6: 7), said the fiery Seraphim to Isaiah, the chosen prophet, touching his lips with a burning coal, - and through this touch the sinful impurity of the man of God was taken away. Oh, if there were only one who was pure from unclean things, Job the Long-suffering exclaims, and continues: no one(Job 14: 4).

Where does this universal sinful impurity in people come from, when they are created in the image and in the likeness of God, and God is pure and most holy? From the devil, my brothers, from the devil, who is most often called an unclean spirit in scripture, and in church prayers, namely, when conjuring an evil spirit, an alien, filthy and disgusting spirit. He, this unclean spirit, having become, after his falling away from God, a foul vessel of all the impurity of sin, defiled from the beginning with his unclean breath the hearts of the first people, and deeply infecting their whole being, soul and body with the impurity of sin, transmits this impurity as a hereditary corruption , to all their offspring, even before us, and will defile, especially the careless and unbelievers until the end of the world, as St. Angel of St. to the Apostle John in the Apocalypse: the time is near. Let the unrighteous still do unrighteousness; let the unclean be filthy still; let the righteous do righteousness still, and the saint still be sanctified. Behold, I am coming soon, and My reward is with Me, to reward each one according to his deeds.(Rev. 22: 10-12).

So, the uncleanness of the heart comes from the devil, or from the first fall of man, after which all people became, as it were, his captives and slaves. And this sinful impurity is so great, so deeply ingrained in human hearts, it is so difficult to get rid of it that even the holy saints of God, who all their lives watched over all the movements and thoughts of their hearts, felt at times in themselves, as it were, an influx or storm of the wicked, nasty and blasphemous thoughts, and prayed to the Lord and the Most Pure Theotokos to tame these fierce and unclean waves, to quench this demonic storm; - so great that some men, who had already ascended to the height of purity and holiness, rapidly fell into the sin of uncleanness; - so great that despite our frequent prayers, the grace of the sacraments and our teaching in the word of God and all the punishments with which God visits us for our sinful impurity, it still remains in us, and will live with us until the grave, and in others, to the shame of mankind, it is revealed before the very grave with particular arrogance and shamelessness. Everything is often presented to an unclean person as unclean, because his mind and conscience are defiled. The Lord of the Heart, says that from within, from the human heart, come evil thoughts, adultery, fornication, murder, theft, covetousness, malice, deceit, indecency, an envious eye, blasphemy, pride, madness. All this evil comes from within and defiles a person(Mark 7: 21-23). This is what the impurity of the heart consists in! It is thorny thorns that fights a person internally, giving him no rest; rags against which it is cruel for a person to go, and however, he often goes to them himself willingly; it is a dark cloud and darkness in the soul, hiding from a person the true and salvific path of God, along which a person must go to his intended goal; it is, finally, sinful scabs that cover and corrode our hearts.

To purify the heart, great labors and sorrows are needed, frequent tears, unceasing inner prayer; abstinence, reading the word of God, the scriptures and lives of the saints of God, but most importantly, frequent repentance and communion of the Most Pure Mysteries and daily self-examination; thinking about how pure man was created in the beginning, and how the filth of sin entered the world; about the likeness and image of God in us, and about our duty to become like the Prototype - the Most Pure God; about the redemption of us by the priceless blood of the Son of God, about our sonhood in Christ Jesus, about our commandment to be holy in all our life (1 Pet. 1:15;; meditation on death, on judgment and on fiery hell. We need, we say, great sorrow because they heal the disease of sin, burn the thorns of passions. With many sorrows it befits us to instill in the kingdom of God(Acts 14:22), says St. the apostle Paul, and all the saints endured great tribulations in order to acquire heartfelt purity, and no one was crowned without sorrows: some suffered many different torments from persecutors; others spontaneously tormented and dejected themselves with fasting, vigils, bodily labors, lying on the bare ground; they were incessantly vigilant in prayer, and with the fragrance of it reflected every unclean expression of sin; St. Mystery, as the most powerful means to purify, sanctify and renew the soul and body; they continually studied in the word of God, were engaged in divine contemplation. For some, with all this, tears incessantly flowed from their eyes, as, for example, in St. Ephraim the Syrian. We especially need sincere, deep tears, for they cleanse the defilements of the heart. With my tears give, Christ, drops, the filth of my purifying heart, the saints of God pray to the Lord [Last. to St. Communion canto 3, art. 1].

From the eye of the tears are incessantly flowing, give me currents endlessly, washing me all, from top to foot, - we pray in the canon to the Guardian Angel, as if, more than snow, the garment was whitened with repentance into the palace of God [Can. Eng. storage canto 8, art. 4]. Tear drops exude grace to me to give the Lord pray, St. An angel, like those, will cleanse my heart and see God [Can. Eng. p. 6, art. 3]. All who have wept for their sins know from experience that tears contribute very much to cleansing, tranquility and bliss of the heart, for with them flows, so to speak, sin from our souls; after them comes silence and serenity of conscience and some kind of spiritual fragrance and joy: man with intelligent eyes sees God in himself, purifying all his iniquity and inexpressibly merciful to him. It was then that a person learns how blessed, calm and contented the pure in heart are, for their conscience does not torment, they do not torment the sins that are forgiven them by the infinite mercy of God, and they feel internally that they rest in God, the source of bliss, and God rests in them. Blessedness of a pure heart... So, a pure heart is an abundant source of tranquility and everlasting joy; when looking at everything good, at every creation of God, the pure in heart rejoices and rejoices inwardly, because in all creatures he sees the imprint of the Creator's goodness, wisdom and omnipotence; - he is blessed in himself, for both the purity of the heart and the generally felt real mercy of God amuse him, and the future, promised blessings, comfort him even more, their eye is not in sight, and the ear is not hearing(1 Cor. 2: 9), and the pledge of which he has in his heart. On the other hand, those who have an unclean heart are pitiful: it is for them a source of incessant sorrow, although apparently they are rejoicing; - a source of misfortunes and fears, because sins and passions, like worms suck their hearts, their conscience denounces them, giving them no rest and a secret foreboding of God's judgment terrifies them. Blessed are those who are pure in heart: for they will see God; blessed, a hundred times blessed are the pure in heart, especially because they will see God face to face in the age to come; for it is natural for the pure to see Chistago, as it is for the pure eye to see the light.

If we still feel very blessed in this life, when, leaving everything earthly, we completely devote ourselves to prayer and converse with God, like children with a father, although we do not see Him with their eyes, but only, as in a mirror, fortunefully, if even in this still life, we often seem to melt spiritually from emotion, because of the living sensation of the presence of God - what to say about the righteous or the pure in heart, when they see God face to face in that age, when they see Him, this is the Source of the eternal light and bliss for all angelic ranks, for all forefathers, prophets, apostles, hierarchs, martyrs, monks and all saints, by whom does every creature live and rejoice in heaven and on earth? Oh, in truth it will be unspeakable bliss, endless sweetness - where (in heaven) there is an unceasing voice of those celebrating, and the endless sweetness of those who see Your face is inexpressible kindness. [Mol. mornings. 5]

So, my brethren, let us take care to acquire a pure heart - with tears of repentance, vigil, prayer, abstinence, frequent teaching in the word of God, and let us hasten to reject the blindness of passions from our hearts - may we see Christ God, the Savior of our souls.

“Christ, the true Light, enlighten and sanctify every person who is coming into the world, may the light of Your face be signified on us, so that in him we will see the unapproachable light, and correct our feet for making Your commandments, with the prayers of the most pure Thy Mother and all Your saints” [Mol ... mornings. 5; Prayer at the end of Matins before Vzbran. Voivode]. Amen.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God

Listen to what follows: Blessed are the pure in heart, that is, those who are pure in heart, for they will see God... This is the limit of our love. The limit at which we achieve perfection, and not destroyed. Food has a limit, clothes have a limit: food because it is destroyed while eating, and clothes because it is perfect when it is woven. Both have a limit: but one leads to destruction, and the other - to perfection. No matter what we do, no matter how good we act, no matter what we strive for, no matter what praiseworthy we kindle, no matter what impeccable we crave, but after we have come to contemplation of God, we need no more. For what else should one look for in whom God is present? Or what will be enough for those for whom God is not enough? We want to see God, we strive to see God, we are burning with the desire to see God. And who is not? But notice what it says: Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God... Prepare what you see [Him]. Or, referring to bodily images, how do you want to [see] the sunrise with sore eyes? If the eyes are healthy, this light will be pleasure, and if they are not healthy, then this light will be torment. For you are not allowed to contemplate with an impure heart that which is contemplated only by a pure heart.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God

Many do not rob, but rather are merciful, but they commit fornication and thus turn out to be unclean in other respects. So, Christ commands, with other virtues, to preserve purity, or chastity, not only in body, but also in heart, for apart from holiness or purity no one will see the Lord. Just as a mirror, if it is pure, reflects images only then, so the contemplation of God and the understanding of Scripture is accessible only to a pure soul.

Interpretation of the Gospel of Matthew.

Apollinaris of Laodicea

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God

For they will see God... How then is it said that No one has ever seen God(John 1:18)? To this we answer that He is contemplated and comprehended by the mind. Indeed, in the Holy Scriptures we see God with the eyes of knowledge, and from the rationality manifested in the universe, one can see the Creator through inference, just as in the works of human hands the creator of an object lying in front of us is in some way contemplated by reason. At the same time, we see not the nature of the inventor, but only skillful workmanship. In the same way, the one who sees in the creation of God, does not imagine the essence, but the wisdom of the Creator of all. The Lord also confirms this, promising that God will be seen by the pure in heart... The Holy Scripture does not contradict this, [when it says] that no one has seen God and cannot see.

Euthymius Zigaben

Blessed are those who are pure in heart: for they will see God

Under pure hearts understands those who are not aware of any guile behind themselves or who keep their hearts untainted by voluptuousness, that ap. Paul calls holiness, saying: have peace and holiness with all, and none of them will see the Lord(Hebrews 12:14). Will see god as far as possible for human nature. I put this bliss after the bliss of charity, because many, reaching righteousness and performing charity, are overcome by passions. Therefore, it shows that these virtues alone are not enough. Pure in heart- the essence of the chaste: holiness, i.e. chastity, but no one else will see the Lord(Hebrews 12:14). As a mirror then reflects images when it is pure, so only a pure soul perceives the image of God.

Interpretation of the Gospel of Matthew.

Bp. Mikhail (Luzin)

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God

Pure in heart... Those whose actions, thoughts, intentions and moral rules of activity are pure, disinterested, truthful, are generally people who observe spiritual purity, “who have acquired complete virtue and do not realize any guile behind themselves, or those who lead their lives in chastity, for for in order to see God, we have nothing so much need as this virtue ”(Chrysostom).

God will be seen... Not only in spiritual contemplation, but also with bodily eyes in His appearances (John 14: 21-23), and not only in the age to come, when they, together with all the saints, will enjoy the sight of God, but also in the present, when they are pure their hearts are more capable than others “in their own sweetness” (Athanasius the Great) to see God and to enter into communion with Him. "As a mirror then reflects images, when it is pure, so only a pure soul can contemplate God and understand Scripture" (Theophylact; cf. Athanasius the Great). This promise does not contradict those passages of Scripture, which speak of the impossibility for a person to see God (Ex. 33:20; John 1:18; John 6:46; 1 Tim. 6:16, etc.), for in these the last passages speak of a complete vision or knowledge of God in His being, which is really impossible, but the vision of God by man, "as far as possible" (Chrysostom) for this latter, is often said in Scripture, for God is revealed to man in the images available to him, although Himself in Himself is the purest Spirit.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God

There are two ways to contemplate God: in this age and in that one. In this age, according to the words of Scripture: He who has seen me has seen the Father(John 14: 9). Pure in heart those who not only do not do evil and do not think [about it], but who still always do every good thing and think [about it]. For sometimes it is possible to do good, but not think about what happens to those who do good not for the sake of God, and God does not give a reward for such good, because God rewards a reward not just for the good that is done, but for what is done. with a good disposition. Those who do good for the sake of God, no doubt, also think good. Therefore, the one who creates all righteousness and thinks about it in his heart contemplates God, since righteousness is the image of God. For God is truth. Therefore, according to what [aspirations] who will get rid of evil and do good, according to this he will see God: either in confusion, or purely, or moderately, or more fully, or in part, or completely, or sometimes, or always, or according to human possibility. In the same way, the one who does evil and thinks will see the devil, since all evil is the image of the devil. So in that century the pure in heart will see God face to face, and no longer through dim glass, fortuitously(1 Cor. 13:12) as here.

Prot. Alexander (Schmemann)

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God

The word "cleanliness" has an exceptional meaning in Christianity, meaning much more than just the antithesis of moral (especially sexual) licentiousness, and goes far beyond just morality. Purity is an intrinsic quality that would be best defined as wholeness. Purity, according to Christian teaching, leads to chastity, i.e. to a holistic wisdom that gives a person a constant sense of himself before God. Purity and chastity are opposed in a person not so much by dirt, licentiousness, sin, as by his inner confusion and fragmentation. The Christian experiences sin as a loss of equality to himself, as blindness that hinders the faithful, i.e. holistic self-esteem. And the main task, the main vocation of a person in Christianity is to re-find his inner integrity, to restore in himself his former purity, and with it that fullness of vision that disappears in a state of inner splitting. To a person of our time, all this may seem incomprehensible, overly complicated, and most importantly - unnecessary, while it is a self-needed business, something that the modern world has for some reason forgotten about.

Personality is not just an individuality, but that depth of each person, which the Bible and Christianity call his “heart”. Individuality can be understood as the totality of certain traits of a given person: appearance, character, tastes, talents and abilities, but all this is still not a person. Christianity teaches that in every person there is a deep and indecomposable core - that which constitutes his real, incomparable, incomparable "I" to nothing else. This "I" is unique and unrepeatable, and the true life of any of us is rooted in it. And we all the time lose this “I” in the thundering hustle and bustle of life, which is lived in the fragmentation of passions, hobbies, etc.

Christianity begins with a call to a person to find and restore the lost integrity in himself - in other words, that purity of his “I”, which is so muddied by the sinful vanity of life. In essence, the sixth commandment of bliss calls us to this: to return to holistic vision, to see what we do not see in our surface life - invisible beauty and power, light and love, in which God reveals Himself.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God

One of the deepest truths. Purity of heart is provided as a condition for seeing God. But the term used to denote this vision (ὄψονται - see, see) refers to the eye, means optical vision. Since it is clear from other Scriptures that a person cannot see God, one must think that speech here is figurative, ordinary vision serves as an image of the spiritual. This can be seen from the combination of terms: the pure in heart “will see”. It takes purity of heart to see God. What is purity of heart? Such a state of a person, when his heart, the source of feelings, is not darkened by any obscuring influences of vicious passions or sinful deeds. Between the absolute, or complete, and relative purity of the heart, there are many gaps in people, where there is semi-morbidity, half-perfection, as in the eye. A person's ability to see (spiritually) God increases with the purification of his heart, his conscience. A pure heart = a clear conscience. Although the idea of the possibility of seeing God existed in antiquity (cf. Ps. 23: 4-6), it occurs, for example, several times in Philo, but we did not find examples of the vision of God, as in the New Testament, made dependent from purity of heart (cf. Heb. 10:22).

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God

Each virtue brings us closer to God; but the highest bliss is to see God, to make your heart the dwelling place of the grace of the Holy Spirit, the dwelling place of God, as Christ said: we will come to him and make our abode with him(John 14:23). And for this it is necessary to cleanse the heart of passions. "Like a mirror," says Blessed Theophylact, "then only reflects images, when it is pure, so only a pure soul can contemplate God and understand Scripture." There are also merciful ones, but they themselves live uncleanly, and therefore they will not see God. Our hearts are very much clogged with all sinful impurity, and do we see everything that is in our sinful hearts? ... That is why King David prayed: cleanse me from my secrets(Ps. 18:13); That is why even the righteous Job said: Who will be born clean of the unclean? No one(Job 14: 4). From the heart, - says the Heartbreaker, - evil thoughts, murder, adultery, fornication, theft, perjury, blasphemy - this defiles a person(Matthew 15:19). You did not kill a man, but in your heart you wished him destruction; know that the Lord already calls this evil thought murder. Think the same about every sinful desire. Man looks at the face, and God at the heart. Man judges deeds, but God also judges the thoughts of the heart. My son! give your heart to me(Proverbs 23:26), says the Lord. And how will you give God your heart, if it is unclean, defiled by sinful thoughts and desires? Is it possible, you say, to completely cleanse the heart? If Christ the Savior requires this of us, then it is possible. Do you hear? Christ says: Blessed are the pure in heart. The Impossible for Men is Possible for God(Luke 18:27). Everything is possible for the believer(Mark 9:23). True, great work and heroic deed are presented to the one who wishes to cleanse his heart, but on the other hand, the reward is great: for they will see God... Just think: “if, as St. Elijah Minyati says, the most holy face of God hid from the eyes of the righteous for just one minute, then heaven itself would become hell for them; and if for just one minute it seemed tormented in hell, then hell itself would become paradise. " You ask how it is said: man cannot see me(Ex. 33:20)? These words mean that it is impossible for man to know the very Essence of God: but pure in heart even here, on earth, in their own hearts, they can see God, that is, feel the invisible grace-filled presence of God; they can also see with bodily eyes some signs of the manifestation of God to them: thus, Adam in Paradise was pure in heart, and God appeared to him and how the Father talked with him. God also appeared to Abraham - in the person of three strangers, to Moses - in the bush, to Elijah - in the quiet breeze of the wind and waters. But all these visions, in comparison with what the righteous will see in the future life, are only shadows and images: Now we see- says the apostle Paul, - as if through a dim glass, fortuitously, then face to face(1 Cor. 13:12) then we will see him as he is- says the Apostle John the Theologian (1 John 3: 2). How great this bliss can be judged by what the apostles experienced at Tabor: God! it's good for us to be here(Matthew 17: 4), the Apostle Peter spoke for all. And if this bliss is so longed for, then how to attain it? How to cleanse the heart of passions? God gave us His gracious means for this: these are the Sacraments of baptism, repentance and communion of the Life-giving Mysteries of Christ; use these salvific means, but also work yourself: in humility fulfill the commandments of God, read the word of God with reverence, in every possible way drive away from you any sinful thought: beat this foe with an invincible weapon - invoking the salutary name of the Lord Jesus Christ, you will not find anything stronger than this weapon in heaven or on earth, as the holy fathers say, and - endure the sorrows that God sends, accept them with thanksgiving to God, as a healing balm for your sinful wounds. Work hard and remember that Kingdom of Heaven by Power, self-deprecating, taken(Matthew 11:12) what is it will not come ... in a noticeable way(Luke 17:20).

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God

The sixth commandment again speaks not about the way of behavior, but about the inner quality of a person: Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God... Collocation pure in heart(καθαροι τη καρδια) borrowed from the Psalter: How good God is to Israel, to the pure in heart!(Psalm 72: 1); Who will ascend the mountain of the Lord, or who will stand in His holy place? The one whose hands are innocent and the heart is pure ...(Ps. 23: 3-4). Again we see Jesus using an expression that was heard by many. To understand its meaning, it is necessary to consider two key concepts of which it consists: "purity" and "heart".

In the language of the Old Testament, the concept of purity is primarily associated with shrine, worship, sacrifice, altar, tabernacle, temple: nothing unclean should touch the shrine. At the same time, impurity can be both physical, associated with illness, injury, bodily disabilities (Lev. 21: 17-23), and spiritual (Is. 1: 10-17). The source of purity and purification is God, to whom David in the penitential psalm turns to prayer: Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin ... Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me and I will be whiter than snow(Ps. 50: 4,9).

The heart in the Old Testament tradition is perceived not only as a physical organ and not only as a center of human emotional activity. It is also a spiritual center that determines his actions, life choices, attitude towards God and the people around him. Thoughts and decisions ripen in the heart, in the heart a person conducts a dialogue with himself and with God. The heart is that spiritual depth in a person, into which God looks (1 Sam. 16:17; Jer. 17:10). The heart is not only with man, but also with God (Genesis 6: 6; 8:21; Ps. 32:11).

Purity of heart cannot be acquired only by one's own efforts; God's help is needed: Create a clean heart in me, O God, and renew a right spirit within me(Ps. 50:12). Repentance is expected from a person: A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit; a broken and humble heart you will not despise, O God(Ps. 50:19). As a modern researcher notes, renewal of the heart is the main theme of the Sermon on the Mount. However, Jesus not only demands a new heart from His disciples: He Himself gives it to them.

Purity of heart is a condition for communication with God: Who will ascend the mountain of the Lord, or who will stand in His holy place? He who has innocent hands and a pure heart ... Such is the race of those who seek Him, seek Thy face, O God of Jacob!(Ps. 23: 3-4, 6). Without purity of heart, it is impossible to touch the shrine, to meet with God and to behold the face of God.

The promise for they will see God makes us first of all recall a whole series of biblical texts that speak of the vision of God.

On the one hand, in both the Old and New Testaments, we meet persistent assertions that the vision of God is impossible for man. When Moses climbs Mount Sinai, God promises to put all His glory before him, but at the same time declares: You cannot see my face, because a person cannot see me and stay alive(Ex. 33: 20-21). According to the apostle Paul, No man has seen God and cannot see(1 Tim. 6:16). The statement that No one has ever seen God, appears twice in the corpus of the John Scriptures (John 1:18; 1 John 4:12).

On the other hand, some texts speak of the possibility of seeing God. Jacob, struggling with God, exclaims: I saw God face to face, and my soul was preserved(Gen. 32:30). Job expresses the hope that he will see God with his own eyes: But I know that my Redeemer lives, and on the last day He will raise up this decaying skin from the dust, and I will see God in my flesh. I will see Him myself; my eyes, not the eyes of another, will see Him(Job 19: 25-27). The apostles John and Paul speak of the vision of God in the hereafter (1 John 3: 2; 1 Cor. 13:12).

In patristic literature, there are various approaches to the paradox "visible - invisible".

The first explanation is that God is invisible by His nature, but He can be seen in His energies (actions), His glory, His goodness, His revelations, His condescension. According to Gregory of Nyssa, "God is invisible by nature, but becomes visible in His energies." John Chrysostom, recalling the appearance of God to Moses, Isaiah and other prophets, speaks of God's “condescension” (οικονομια) shown to him: “All these cases were manifestations of God's indulgence, and not a vision of the purest Being, for if the prophets really saw the very nature of God , they would not have contemplated it under different forms ... God in essence was not seen, not only by the prophets, but even by angels or archangels. Many saw Him in the form that was available to them, but no one ever contemplated His essence. "

The second way to solve the problem "visible - invisible" involves the Christological dimension: God is invisible in His essence, but revealed Himself in the human flesh of the Son of God. Ignatius the God-bearer says that God is “invisible, but has become visible to us” in the Face of His Son. Irenaeus of Lyons states that "the Father is the invisible Son, and the Son is the visible of the Father." According to John Chrysostom, the Son of God, being by divine nature as invisible as the Father, became visible when he was clothed with human flesh. Theodore the Studite writes: “Before, when Christ was not in the flesh, He was invisible, for, as it is said, God no one has ever seen(1 John 4:12). But when He took on coarse human flesh ... He voluntarily became tangible. "

The third possible approach to the problem is the desire to solve it in an eschatological perspective: God is not visible in our present life, but after death the righteous will see Him. No matter how much a person is perfected before God, says Isaac the Syrian, in real life he sees God from behind, as in a mirror, sees only His image; in the next century, God will show him His face. Theodore the Studite regards the vision of God as a reward given in the future life: one should strive and suffer here in order to see "the immeasurable beauty, the ineffable glory of the face of Christ" in the next century.

Finally, the fourth opportunity to explain the “visible - invisible” contradiction is to place it in the context of the concept of the purification of the soul: God is invisible to man in his fallen state, but becomes visible to those who have achieved purification of the heart. We meet such a thought in Theophilus of Antioch, who believes that one must cleanse oneself from sin in order to see God. When a person's heart is cleansed, says Gregory of Nyssa, "he will see the image of the Divine nature in his own beauty."

Which of these four approaches is closest to the original meaning of Jesus' dictum about the bliss of the pure in heart? I think the fourth, in which the vision of God is directly linked to the purity of the heart, but it does not say when a person can see God: in the earthly or afterlife. In contrast to the Sermon on the Plain from Luke, where all the promises are related to the future, opposed to what is happening "now", in the Sermon on the Mount from the Gospel of Matthew there is no such opposition. There is no time gap between the purity of the heart and the vision of God, just as there is no gap between other blessedness and the promises that follow from them. This gives Simeon the New Theologian the right to challenge the eschatological interpretation of the sixth commandment of Beatitude and to say that the vision of God occurs simultaneously with the attainment of purity of heart: "... They will say:" Yes, indeed, the pure in heart will see God, only this will happen in the next century, and not in the present ". Why and how will it be, beloved? If Christ said that God is seen through a pure heart, then, of course, when purity comes, then vision follows it ... For if purity is here, then vision will be here. If you say that a vision occurs after death, then, of course, you place purity after death, and thus it will happen to you that you will never see God, because after the exodus you will not have a work through which you would find purity. ".

At the same time, we must point out that the second of the given patristic interpretations has a direct parallel in the Gospel, in particular in the dialogue between Philip and Jesus at the Last Supper. In response to Jesus' words to his disciples that they knew and saw the Father, Philip says: God! show us the Father, and that's enough for us. Jesus replies: How long have I been with you, and you don't know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how do you say show us the Father?(John 14: 7-9). Jesus identifies the vision of God the Father with the appearance of the Son of God: through the human face of Jesus, the way is opened to people to the vision of the Divine face of the invisible Father. Thus, like the other Beatitudes, the sixth commandment has a pronounced Christological dimension.

Scenario of the final event for the long-term project "Holidays and Traditions of the Nations of the World"

Guests have come to us

Musical director: Hello, invited guests, long-awaited!

Miracles come here.

It will be interesting here!

True, it will be interesting!

You probably do not know -

In an open field, in a wide expanse,

Beyond the dark forests, beyond the green meadows,

Over fast rivers, over steep banks ...

Under a bright month, under white clouds,

There is a village on the edge of the forest ...

And in the village there is a red hut,

And in the hut - the hostess is nice and friendly.

Calls everyone to visit!

The hostess. Hello dear guests! In the old days there was such a custom among the Russian people; how the field work ended, and the harvest was harvested, whiled away the autumn evenings, together they arranged get-togethers: they sang their favorite songs, danced in circles, did needlework. Some are sitting at the spinning wheel, some are embroidering patterns, some are sculpted from clay, others are made of wood spoons and bowls. As the Russian proverb says, "Take business in hand out of boredom"... It was fun! Either the song will be delayed, then the joke will be thrown around, so the work for them and argued. So we have all the garden troubles behind us - we have removed the last vegetable. As in the old days used to say: Business time - fun hour! Finished business - walk boldly! It's damp, windy, and cold outside, but in our hut it's fun and warm. You are welcome, dear guests! We invite everyone to our hut for gatherings, we heartily meet! Do not be embarrassed, do not hesitate, make yourself comfortable!

Girl: Mother, something sad for us. Something not having fun, not being amused!

Hostess: Why aren't you having fun?

Children:

1. Autumn auntie!

The worker is hard

As in Autumn I broke

Red Kalinushka,

I cleaned the gardens

Broke the back.

All the work, nivushka,

My back hurts.

2. I stung from morning to night

Wheat and oats

I just feel sorry for the white bread

Failed to eat.

Sting, pressed, pressed three strands.

The first strand is for food,

The second strand is for seeds,

The third strand is in reserve.

Hostess: Oh, you are mine, kids,

Little reapers

Oh and thank God

What a life they reaped!

What have you reaped

And they paid the cops:

On the threshing floor in stacks,

In a crate with bins,

And in the oven with pies!

They used to say so

Who plowed - that snare.

And whoever sowed - that two.

And whoever stung - that's all.

The sun paints the earth, and labor paints man! If there is bread, there will be a song. And autumn is not always sad and rainy. Autumn is generous in beauty, rich in miraculous harvest! Come on, smile! (girls smile)... And now it has become glorious!

Hostess: Interestingly, people used to say in the old days, so much so that everyone remembered. Well, who are the proverbs and sayings of the master to tell?

Children call proverbs:

- With the sun - warm, with the mother - good!

- There will be no boredom when your hands are busy!

- A good fairy tale in a warehouse, and a song in a harmony!

- Bored day until evening - if there is nothing to do.

Hostess: Well done, you know good proverbs. Well, so that, as the proverb says, the day was not boring until the evening, I will show you a funny, outlandish doll. It is called a matryoshka. She also has a beautiful sundress, a bright handkerchief, red cheeks. This matryoshka with a secret. She loves to joke and have fun. Each Matryoshka has its own song. And her voice is clear and thin. Here, listen!

Song "Russian nesting doll"

Hostess: (Knock on the door.) Come in, dear guests!

Enter Danilovna and Gavrilovna

Hostess: Hello, good people! Welcome.

If you dignify - so on the doorstep to meet.

Danilovna: Are there many of you, don't you need us?

Hostess: Come in, come in, you will be guests!

Gavrilovna: We heard that you were having gatherings, so we looked at the light.

Hostess: Please go to the hut! For the red guest - the red place. Welcome! (Children sit down)... An unexpected guest is better than two expected. Who are you going to be?

Gavrilovna and Danilovna: We are old ladies, inseparable girlfriends.

Danilovna: Really, Gavrilovna?

Gavrilovna: True, Danilovna! We came to your hot hut with gifts. Here are printed gingerbread cookies, sugar candies (gives a treat).

Danilovna: Live, hut, great, live rich! God bless you that we too!

Gavrilovna: Live, live and make good! No evil, no whirlwind, no great daring.

Hostess: (bows) Thank you, dear guests, with a kind word. Come in, the hut is large, there is enough space for everyone. (D. and G. sit on the benches with the children).

Danilovna: We got together to have fun and have fun,

Play, joke, laugh ...

In chorus: Laughter and fun!

Gavrilovna: It's good in your hut, hostess: the stove is heated, the matter is argued for a cheerful conversation. And I'll tell you a fairy tale (thinks)... Tell you a story about a goose?

Children: Yes!

Gavrilovna: And she is already all! And here's another fairy tale: Once upon a time there was a tsar, the tsar had a yard, there was a stake in the yard, on that stake there was a damp, shouldn't we start the story over again? Do you want another fairy tale?

Children: Yes!

Gavrilovna: Once upon a time there was an old man, an old man had a well, a dace lived in that well - here the fairy tale is over.

Danilovna: And my passion is how I like to make riddles. So I’ll make a guess for you now. (Children guess riddles)

Now for you guys

I make riddles.

Sit down, rest

Yes, move your mind.

I know, I know in advance -

You are savvy people.

1. A crooked horse climbs into the fire (poker).

2. Four legs, two ears, one nose, and a belly (samovar).

3. Four brothers live under one roof (table)

There is a button on the head

One hand and one on the back. (Kettle.)

In Russia, the spoon not only fed, but also amused! And here are our guests!

So that the children do not get bored

From dawn to dawn.

The songs are ready to sing for you

Our miracle - spooners.

Children:

1. Hello hostess,

Let's play, have fun

And you will be happy to fall.

Hostess: At parties like ours, they often played games. Let's play and we'll play.

Danilovna: I know a good game - rhyme. Gavrilovna, what was your grandfather's name?

Gavrilovna: Kuzma!

Danilovna: I'll take your Kuzma by the beard!

Gavrilovna: What are you for my grandfather and for the beard?

Danilovna: So this is a game like that! What was your brother's name?

Gavrilovna: Well, Ivan.

Danilovna: Your brother Ivan

I put the cat in my pocket.

The cat cries and sobs

Oh, how he scolds the brother!

Gavrilovna: Why are you talking such nonsense about my dear brother!

Danilovna: Yes, this is a game like that, I explained to you - for rhyme!

Gavrilovna: Now I'll tell you a rhyme too. What was your brother's name?

Danilovna: Fedya.

Gavrilovna: And if the name was Fedya,

Then catch a bear in the forest

Get on the bear

Get off my bench!

Hostess: Yes, you are full of quarreling! Let's go to the table! We must see, probably the bread is ripe.

Gavrilovna: Glad to see you at the stove,

Without it, the house is empty.

In it and fry, in it and soar,

And in winter with her like in spring.

Danilovna: In the old days so spoke:

"The oven is our dear mother to all,

The whole summer is red on the stove,

I sleep and eat by the stove. "

(The guests bow low to the stove. The hostess takes out the bread and puts it on the table).

Hostess: Here it is - fragrant bread,

Here it is - warm, golden.

With a crunch, twisted crust.

As if drenched in the sun.

The bread grows with love.

Eat to your health.

Guests: Thank you, hostess.

Hostess: (addresses D. and G.)

I invite everyone to a tea party.

I carry the samovar in my hands, I sing a joke.

On the sixth commandment of Beatitude

The sixth commandment of Beatitude shows a very important thing - purity makes a person able to see God: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” (Matthew 5, 8). Of course, this is not just about purity as the absence of dirt, but about the purity of the heart. Heart purity usually means sincerity, openness. There is even such a word - "sincerity".

The word "heart" is also familiar to all of us. And not as one of the vital organs of the human body, but as a focus of feelings and emotions. We “love with all our heart”; from an excess of joy, the heart can “break out of the chest”. And it also happens that the heart "overflows with anger." Our condition, our attitude to the people around us, depends on what is in our heart.

Christ teaches that the human heart must be pure. It is not the external cleanliness that is important, but the internal one. Elsewhere in the Gospel of Matthew

The Lord responds to the accusation that His disciples do not wash their hands when they eat bread (Matt. 15: 2). Among the Pharisees - zealots of the law - the practice of ablution was considered very important, although the basis of this tradition lay not in the law of Moses itself, but in the traditions of the elders. Christ's words are striking: “What goes into the mouth goes into the womb and is thrown out, and what comes out of the mouth comes out of the heart, this defiles a person, for from the heart comes evil thoughts, murder, adultery, fornication, theft, perjury, blasphemy - this defiles a person ; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile a person ”(Matthew 15: 17–20). What's the point

of these words? Christ does not neglect hygiene. He says that washing hands before eating does not make a person internally clean, just as unwashed hands do not make us internally or spiritually unclean, filthy. A person is defiled primarily by impure thoughts that nestle where such virtues as love, mercy, and meekness should be. Let's remember the main commandment: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind" (Matthew 22:37). This is what should be filled with, or better than our heart should live. So the focus of our feelings, our vital spiritual organ (by analogy with the bodily heart) should live with love for God, transmitting this impulse to everything: soul, mind, feelings.

But if the heart lives in the opposite way - with malice, lust, envy, then there is no more room for love. This is what a person is really defiled by. This is that sinful filth, from which we can be washed through repentance. True spiritual purity is inner purity. External cleanliness can be deceiving. We are accustomed to chasing the external. But sometimes external purity becomes a screen for internal filth, one way or another, but manifested outside.

The sixth commandment of Beatitude teaches us that the moral life of a Christian is focused on the internal life, because the external state also depends on it. Otherwise, some of the commandments would look at least strange. For example, do not kill (Ex. 20, 13) and do not commit adultery (Ex. 20, 14). Is everyone capable of murder or adultery? And it's good that not everyone. It's good that there is a conscience holding us back. But then why are these commandments given, and are there really few other evils to which one could point out “do not do”? The Lord Jesus Christ answers this: “You have heard what was said by the ancients: do not kill, whoever kills is subject to judgment. But I tell you that everyone who is angry with his brother in vain is liable to judgment; who will say to his brother: "cancer" ("empty man"), is subject to the Sanhedrin; and whoever says, “foolish,” is subject to fiery hell ”(Matthew 5: 21-22). The commandment “do not kill” is already violated by the one who allows irritation, anger and anger into his heart, the one who offends another, and you can kill with a word. Then the Lord says: “You have heard what the ancients said: do not commit adultery. But I tell you that everyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye tempts you, pluck it out and throw it away from you, for it is better for you that one of your members perish, and not your whole body was thrown into Gehenna. And if your right hand tempts you, cut it off and throw it away from you, for it is better for you that one of your members perish, and not your whole body was thrown into Gehenna ”(Matthew 5: 27-30). These words do not mean that you really need to pluck out your eyes and cut off your hands. First of all, we need to cut off, drive away from ourselves impure thoughts - thoughts, agreeing with which we turn to sinful actions. Purity of heart is the absence in the heart, soul and mind of all that alienates us from God.

But what does the ending of the commandment - "God will be seen" implies? To see is to see. How can you see God, and what does that mean? Indeed, in the Gospel of John it is said that no one has ever seen God (John 1:18). Contradiction? No, because then the Evangelist John adds: "The only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He has revealed" (John 1:18). The Son of God, who became man, reveals God to us, makes us able to see God. The word "see" or "behold", like the word "heart", carries a spiritual meaning. In general, in the Holy Scriptures to see often means "to cognize integrally, to see with spiritual eyes." A soul tainted, defiled by sins cannot see or know God. Only when we are cleansed of defilements, we become capable of knowledge. Indeed, sometimes, even in ordinary life, we can see the light: to see something as it really is, to correctly understand and assess the situation. Something similar happens in spiritual life: a pure heart sees and sees God, cognizes Him, and is filled with His love. The great Russian ascetic and saint of the 20th century, the Monk Silouan the Athonite, taught: “In order to know the Lord, one does not need to have either wealth or learning, but one must be obedient and abstinent, have a humble spirit and love one's neighbor, and the Lord will love such a soul, and Himself will manifest Himself to the soul, and will teach her love and humility, and will give her everything useful so that she finds peace in God ", and" no matter how much we study, it is still impossible to know the Lord if we do not live according to His commandments. "

All the virtues that Christ spoke of in the previous Beatitudes become components that prepare a person for the "vision of God." It is paradoxical that you can know a lot about God, you can read all the Holy Scriptures and the works of the holy fathers of the Church, but at the same time you cannot see God, you cannot know Him with your heart and soul. Cognition of God is not limited to the accumulation of information. Knowing God is the path of a Christian's entire life. At the same time, God Himself comes out to meet us. The main thing is not to pass by.

The wind is calling
Clouds behind them
In the distance, in the distance, in the distance.
If you are a friend
I haven't met yet
Sorry, sorry, sorry!

The world is like a colored meadow
If you have a friend next to you.
Do not forget to take a friend on the road,
Always be faithful to your friend!
The world is like a colored meadow
If you have a friend next to you.
Do not forget to take a friend on the road,
Always be faithful to your friend!

The song is not in vain
Gathers friends
In a circle, in a circle, in a circle.
Will make a gloomy day
More fun
Friend, friend, friend!

The world is like a colored meadow
If you have a friend next to you.
Do not forget to take a friend on the road,
Always be faithful to your friend!
The world is like a colored meadow
If you have a friend next to you.
Do not forget to take a friend on the road,
Always be faithful to your friend!

Friend for you
Overcome a hundred obstacles
Glad, glad, glad.
With a friend, any trouble -
No problem,
Yes Yes Yes!

The world is like a colored meadow
If you have a friend next to you.
Do not forget to take a friend on the road,
Always be faithful to your friend!
The world is like a colored meadow
If you have a friend next to you.
Do not forget to take a friend on the road,
Always be faithful to your friend!
