The group's name BTS means the Korean expression Bangtan Sonyeondan (방탄 소년단), literally meaning "Bulletproof Boy Scouts." The name refers to the fact that BTS is fighting off all the stereotypes, criticisms and expectations that hurt teenagers like bullets and defend the values and ideals of today's youth. In Japan, they are known as Bōdan Shōnendan (防 弾 少年 団), which translates in a similar way. In July 2017, BTS announced that in addition to Bangtan Sonyeondan or Bulletproof Boy Scouts, the title would also mean Beyond The Scene as part of their new brand. This expanded both the name and the style of the group, as if the guys wanted to say to the whole world: "We are a growing youth group that is moving beyond reality and moving forward." The biography / personal life of the BTS members is completely related to their public and stage activities. They are constantly busy with philanthropy, organizing concerts, recitals and working on new albums.

Biography of BTS members in Russian

Septet co-writes and produces most of its musical production, the quality of which is attributed by some media to the group's success. The band's early musical style and image were influenced by hip-hop culture. They later moved on to the R&B style and elements of rock music. It would take too much time and space to retell the bios of each BTS member, so it is worth mentioning just a few of the main members of the group. These guys have always received top marks from the press and music critics.

Press ratings

BTS members consistently receive high marks for their honesty on topics they consider important, even in a conservative society. Billboard's Tamar Herman noted that the band's songs have recurring themes. Their School Trilogy - 2 Cool 4 Skool (2013), O! RUL8,2? (2013) and Skulow Luv (2014) - highlighted the problems and concerns of school-aged youth. The biography facts of the BTS members only highlight this group's ideal reputation.

Grace Chong, editor-in-chief of Soompi, said, "BTS has a lot to say and they have a great marketing strategy that attracts foreign fans." South Korean President Luna Jae wrote in a letter to BTS, “Each of the seven members of the group sings in a special way, being true to themselves and the life they want to live. Their melody and lyrics have transcended regional boundaries, breaking the barriers of languages, cultures and institutions. "

Philanthropy

According to the biographies of the BTS members, the group often initiated various charity events. In 2015, they donated seven tons (7,187 kg) of rice to charity at the K-Star Road opening ceremony in Apgujeong-dong. The following year, they participated in the Let's Sharing Heart charity campaign with the Naver Group to raise donations for research into the correction of blindness.

In January 2017, the media reported that BTS and Big Hit Entertainment donated KR 100,000,000 (US $ 85,000) to help the victims of the 2014 Seoul hurricane. All official bios of BTS members confirm this. They each donated KR ₩ 10,000,000, and production company Big Hit Entertainment donated an additional KR ₩ 30,000,000. Donations were to be kept secret. Later that year, BTS officially announced their Love Myself campaign to protect and support children and adolescents affected by domestic and school violence and sexual abuse around the world, in partnership with the Korea Committee on UNICEF. BTS donated 500 million won ($ 448,000) and 100% of all official merchandise sales for the Love Myself campaign over the next two years to several social programs that help prevent violence against children and adolescents, and support programs for victims of violence. Additionally, 3% of the sales of each Love Yourself (Love Yourself: Her, Love Yourself: Tear, and Love Yourself: Answer) album will also be donated to charities.

In September 2018, BTS participated in the 73rd meeting of the United Nations General Assembly in conjunction with the launch of a youth initiative called Generation Unlimited, in partnership with UNICEF. They became the first Korean group to perform at the United Nations. The goal of this initiative is to provide quality education and training for young people.

The members of BTS have also pursued individual philanthropic initiatives. Jimin supported the graduates of Busan Hoedong Primary School, his alma mater, by covering some of the school's expenses from 2016 until it closed in 2018. After news of the school's closure appeared, he donated summer and winter uniforms to all students on his behalf, and also gave free autographs. According to the biographies of the BTS members, on his 25th birthday, Suga donated the group's signed albums, as well as ten kilos of beef to each of the 39 Korean orphanages. But in order to better understand the essence of the group's creativity, it is worth considering several of its most important and outstanding members.

Min Yoongi (Shuga)

Suga took on the pseudonym Agust D in 2016. Under this pseudonym, he posted a free mixtape on SoundCloud on August 15. He chose not to release the project as a commercial studio album, describing it as "feeling like it was in some new form." In the mixtape, he raised issues such as his fight against depression and social anxiety. Fuse TV rated it one of the 20 best mixtapes of 2016, and the biography of BTS members with a photo only proves the creative success of each of the guys, because only truly in-demand people can have such happy smiles.

In 2017, Suga composed the song "Wine" for the singer Suran, with whom he had previously worked on a single on a mixtape. The record peaked at # 2 on Gaon Digital's rankings and won the Soul / R&B Track of the Year award at the Melon Music Awards on December 2, 2017.

In her tracks, Suga speaks openly about mental health and equality for sexual minorities. In 2014, he made a promise to donate meat and other food to his fans if he succeeds as an independent musician. Four years later, he fulfilled his promise by donating an incredible amount of beef to South Korean orphanages.

According to the bios of the BTS members, in the group, Suga is in charge of the lyrics, writing and organizing concerts. More than 70 registered songs are attributed to him by the Korea Music Copyright Association. He is known as a pop singer, rapper and pianist at the same time. His lyrics include themes "full of dreams and hope" (according to critics) as his mission is to inspire hope in people. He cites rappers Stony Skunk and Epik High as his sources of inspiration and mentors to the hip-hop world. In particular, he named the hybrid album of former reggae hip-hopper Ragga Muffin (2005) and its title track on the list of things that gave him inspiration and interest in the genre, calling it a completely unique phenomenon in modern music. The biography of each BTS member, however, emphasizes that not only Suga, but all of them are real phenomena in modern popular culture.

Fuse's Jeff Benjamin said Suga's mixtape "showcases the hot temperament of a new star, hardcore rap style, and an amazing ability to transform weaknesses into strengths."

In January 2018, Suga was declared a full member of the Copyright Association of Korea.

Jung Ho Seok (J-Hope)

J-Hope released his first solo mixtape, Hope World, on March 1, 2018. The album was received positively by both critics and listeners. His debut at number 63 (and subsequent peak at number 38) made him the most outstanding K-pop solo artist on the Billboard 200.

According to the official biographies of the BTS members, Jung Ho-seok (aka Jung Ho Seok) was born on February 18, 1994 in Gwangju, South Korea, where he lived with his parents and older sister. He was an obedient and diligent youth. According to the same official biographies of BTS members, before his debut with the group, he was a member of the underground group Neuron. J-Hope was relatively well known for his dance skills even before his full-fledged debut as a pop singer. He has won various local prizes, and even won first place in a national dance competition in 2008. His dancing skills eventually led him to take music lessons and he was soon able to audition.

On June 13, 2013, J-Hope appeared in BTS's photo, and on the same day he debuted at Mnet's M! With the track No More Dream from their debut album, 2 Cool 4 Skool. He was the third member to join the group in as a trainee after RM and Shugi J-Hope has been involved in the process of making every album in BTS's discography since then.

His stage name J-Hope (제이 홉) comes from his desire to represent hope for fans as well as be hope for BTS. This is also a reference to the myth of Pandora's box, because after the box was opened and all the evil inside was released into the world, all humanity was left with was to maintain hope.

On March 1, 2018, J-Hope released his first solo mixtape, Hope World, along with the music video for the title track Daydream. A music video for one of the B-side tracks (the back of the mixtape) was released on March 6th.

His EP debuted at number 63 and peaked at number 38 on the Billboard 200, making it the most successful solo K-pop track in the rankings. Hope World also peaked at # 35 on the Canadian Albums Chart and # 19 on the United States' Best Albums Chart. Three tracks from the mixtape - "Dream", "Hope of the World" and "Hansan", entered the World Digital Songs Chart, ranking third, sixteenth and 24th, respectively. The next week, tracks climbed to # 1, 6 and 11, with three additional tracks from Hope World - "Airplane", "Baseline" and POP (Piece of Peace), ranking at five, eight and twelve respectively. The track Daydream, having peaked on the chart, made J-Hope one of ten K-Pop artists, including his group BTS, to ever reach # 1 worldwide. The success of his solo debut helped the guy to take third place in the ranking of "Best New Performers" and 97th in the list of "Artist-100" for the week of March 10 and 91st since March 17. He is the fifth Korean musician, and the second Korean soloist after Psy, to make this list. Biographies and photos of BTS members are available on Jung Ho Seok's official website.

sources of inspiration

J-Hope cites the adventure novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne, as well as the work of Kyle, Amina and Joey Badassa, which influenced his style and work on Hope for Peace for his sources of inspiration. The idea of peace also served as the basis for most of his texts. His desire to represent the modern generation has influenced his work on BTS's music.

Starting out as a lesser-known Korean sextet, BTS quickly achieved worldwide popularity, conquering all kinds of ratings of the most popular pop artists. BTS has a huge fan base all over the planet. Despite the initially narrow focus and focus on a young female audience, now this group is listened to by people of different ages, nationalities and different social backgrounds. According to the biographies of the BTS members, the height, weight, religious and political views of the guys are of great interest not only for their listeners, but also for people who accidentally heard about this group.

Every year more and more worthy musical groups of various genres appear in Asia. South Korean art is quite popular in our country. There are a lot of bands playing rather non-standard and high-quality music.

Unlike monotonous European bands, representatives of South Korea try to create their own unique style, which in the end they succeed very well. They are equally good in pop and rock. However, among them there is also one absolutely wonderful group that managed to destroy all stereotypes and become a team that is able to play hip-hop music on a par with its Western counterparts.

This talented group is called BTS. Her biography is incredibly interesting. Next, we will dwell on several especially important stages of her work, as well as tell in detail about each of her participants.

So, to reiterate, BTS is a Korean group. The names of the members of the current squad are as follows:

  • Rap Monster - leader, rapper;
  • Chin is the face of the band, vocalist;
  • Suga - composer, rapper;
  • J-Hope - main dancer, rapper;
  • Jimin - dancer, vocalist;
  • V is the vocalist;
  • Jungkook is a vocalist, dancer, sub-rapper.

Start

The collective was formed back in 2011, when a selection of talented young performers was underway across the country. The first two BTS members were recruited during one of the auditions at the largest Korean studio.

Many future performers at that time only recently turned eighteen years old, but thanks to persistence and talent, they easily managed to break through to the very top in a matter of months and prove to labels that they are truly talented.

It began to take shape closer to 2012, when an underground performer known in narrow circles, nicknamed the Rap Monster, became its leader. By that time, he already had serious experience in performing, as well as several released tracks. He became the brightest member of the group overnight and was also highlighted.

Moreover, as a leader, he began to write most of the lyrics for the group, as well as organize the show. Despite being far from BTS's oldest performer, Rap Monster is by far the most flamboyant personality and fan favorite. He is the idol of millions of listeners from all over the world, inspiring each of them to various achievements and self-improvement.

So it's safe to say that BTS's lineup would not have been as bright without the named member. Then J-Hope, the main dancer of the group, joined the line-up. He had an incredible talent, and this was quickly noticed by Korean studios. Before joining BTS, he performed in a street dance gang and achieved considerable success with them.

J-Hope very quickly found a common language with the rest of the group and became one of the key figures. One of the most important factors in why he was taken to the team was his long acquaintance with the Rap Monster, with whom he had already performed several times. There was a real friendship between them, the guys supported each other in difficult times, and on stage they perfectly complemented each other. So no one had any doubts that it was J-Hope who needed to be recruited into the BTS group.

Music

Shuga is another talented person. This young performer has long established himself as a cool arranger. He had not only an excellent voice, but also an excellent one, which, you see, is important. He easily created catchy beats, without which it is impossible to compose truly hit hip-hop songs.

He quickly became friends with the two leaders of BTS - J-Hope and Rap Monster, becoming an integral part of the close-knit hangout. It's hard to imagine BTS without this amazing musician now. In many ways, the group owes its sudden success to him. Since joining, he has written music for almost all of BTS's songs, so he can rightfully be considered one of the most important links in the group.

Jungkook is the youngest member of the group. He was the last to enter BTS, but despite his age, he quickly gained public attention. Not only was he good at the microphone, but he also knew how to dance perfectly, like J-Hope.

Success

Bright personalities could not help but make BTS famous. The Korean group, the biography of each member of which is now inextricably linked with the stage, was able to achieve success only by becoming a friendly team. Now it is one of the best boy bands of our time. He was guaranteed success from the very beginning, because the guys had everything they needed to create a popular team - talent, persistence and a memorable image.

BTS is a Korean group: line-up and changes

Later, other musicians joined the collective. And when the line-up was finally formed, it was time for a full-fledged debut. But, unfortunately, they did not succeed in doing it right away. As with many other young groups, a disagreement began, which resulted in the two members leaving BTS.

Of the nine musicians, only seven remained, but this did not prevent them from continuing their activities. After two years of preparation, they gained some serious experience and were ready to prove themselves in public. It happened in 2013. It should be noted that this year was very successful for the group. In addition to live performances, they managed to release their debut single, which quickly entered the top charts of the country and was highly praised by both music lovers and professional critics. The disc was titled 2 Cool 4 Skool and contained seven excellent tracks. The most successful song in the album is considered to be No more dream.

In June of the same year, a music video was shot on her, which did not leave TV screens for a long time, regularly broadcasting on numerous Korean music channels. By that time, BTS had finally secured the title of the best young group in the country.

For BTS (you can see the photos of the members with their names in the article), their first major success was their performance at the popular M festival! Countdown, where the group performed the above-mentioned hit No more dream, which to this day is considered one of the main works of the group.

Later, on the wave of success, a video was shot for a song called We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2. All this ultimately led to the fact that the group was recognized as the best young performers in the country and received a lot of prestigious awards.

Mix of cultures

Unlike many other Asian bands, BTS prefer to perform their music in English. Each of the band's musicians is fluent in it, so you won't hear a hint of accent while listening. But, in addition to this, the guys skillfully mix English and Korean in their lyrics, which ultimately gives them an original and unusual sound.

Tour

With the advent of 2014, the group's success only increased. BTS has released yet another mini album that has surpassed all possible sales. In just a year, the members of the group became stars who were invited to perform at the largest musical arenas in the country.

Now is the time to embark on your first really big tour. These were world-class shows, and the army of fans grew every day.

More and more fans

Having achieved recognition in their homeland, the guys decided to try their hand at abroad. And not without reason, because in Europe a sharp rise in their popularity has become noticeable, which was greatly facilitated by the talentedly selected composition of the group. BTS, from whose photo seven attractive guys are watching, has acquired a large number of fans in various parts of the world, including Russia.

Conclusion

The band is still popular these days and is clearly not going to slow down. New songs are included in a wide variety of tops, and a recent hit called Fire made it into the twenty most popular in the history of iTunes. The clip for this song managed to collect 4 million views on the Internet in two days. So we recommend that all connoisseurs of good music familiarize themselves with the work of BTS. You will definitely not be disappointed.
