(Last update: 13.01.2019)

Hello everyone! Post updated. Today we'll talk about the Yandex Wordstat service and the Yandex Wordstat Assistant tool. The service from allows us to select keywords for the site... To be honest, I myself have not paid attention to such tools before to find the best keywords for my blog. Now Wordstat Yandex my most faithful friend and helper. Without him, no where.

Selection of keywords in Wordstat Yandex

Before writing a post, the first thing I do is select keywords in Wordstat Yandex (keyword statistics on Yandex).

Word selection (wordstat) is a free service that helps you get information about queries from Yandex users. For example, it allows you to find out how many people per month search for a particular phrase, and see queries that are similar in meaning to your phrase.

That's all for me. I hope it was helpful to you. Until next time. Bye Bye!

One of the first steps in optimization and SEO promotion is the analysis of search queries. Some novice specialists already at this stage of work make mistakes that negatively affect the entire promotion process. Since the Russian-speaking Internet pays great attention to the promotion of sites in Yandex, let's talk about how to properly analyze queries in this search engine.

How to analyze Yandex search queries?

Optimization starts with analyzing search queries. The most accessible tool for conducting it is the Yandex Wordstat service (wordstat.yandex.ru). At first glance, the service works simply and does not take much time to master. It is enough to register a search query, select the desired region, if necessary, and get results on the popularity of a word or phrase among users. However, with this approach, you do not take into account the features of the system, and they play a key role in the analysis process.

How to use Yandex Wordstat service?

To use the tool for searching and analyzing keywords, you must have an email address on Yandex. By registering a mailbox on yandex.ru, you will not only get access to Wordstat, but you will also be able to use other useful services from Yandex.Metrica, Webmaster, Catalog, Yandex Direct, add your company to the Directory of Organizations.

As for the search word analysis service, it was created, first of all, for users of the Yandex.Direct contextual advertising system. However, it is no less in demand in SEO when creating a semantic core for a website. There are a number of limitations in the work of Wordstat that must be taken into account when assessing the popularity of queries. Let's talk about them in more detail.

Word search on wordstat.yandex

If you enter a search query in the appropriate field on the Wordstat service page, you will see the results displayed in two columns. For example, you use the query "hotel spb". The left column contains queries containing a key expression, and the right column contains all queries that were used together with the main key expression.

Thus, in addition to information about the popularity of the main query, you will receive data on what queries were made by people looking for "hotel spb", and what word forms they entered when searching for the necessary data. Key expressions from the right column can be used to expand the semantic core in order to increase the flow of targeted traffic. With their help, you will attract even more interested users.

Operators Yandex Wordstat

Many beginners believe that the number next to a keyword is the actual number of user searches. In fact, the system reflects information about all requests in which the expression "hotel spb" was used: vacancies in a hotel in St. Petersburg, hotel for dogs in St. Petersburg, hotel in October St. Petersburg, etc. Most of the key phrases will simply not work for you to promote your website. It makes no sense to take into account the number of such requests when choosing. How to proceed? It is necessary to use special tools - operators.

  • In order to find out how many real queries were made for a certain word, you need to enclose this word in quotation marks (""). In this case, you will exclude from the search those options that contain additional phrases.
  • If you want to get results for an exact match, you need to put an exclamation mark ("!") In front of the keyword. Thus, you will exclude from the results those variations in which declensions are used.
  • If the search query contains several words, then an exclamation mark should be placed in front of each ("! Hotel! SPb"). So you can filter out unnecessary options and conduct an almost accurate analysis of the request in Yandex. However, this result will not be one hundred percent either. Why? It's simple. Yandex Wordstat service is focused on contextual advertising, so it displays information not about the number of requests in one month, but about the number of impressions. The difference is that the analysis takes into account views of not only the first (top) page, but also the second, third, and others. Of course, most users don't go past the first SERP. Still, there is a possibility that other pages will be taken into account and should not be forgotten.
  • The "+" operator is used to account for conjunctions and prepositions used in a key expression. The search engine ignores these speech particles. In order for them to be taken into account when analyzing requests, it is necessary to put a "+" sign in front of each union and preposition. Then you will get the exact number of impressions for the keyword.

Search queries by region

Below the search bar Yandex Wordstat is a panel with three tabs:

  • according to
  • by region
  • request history

If the switch is set to the "By words" position, then Yandex shows the total number of requests for the last 30 days. When you need to analyze the popularity of keywords in a particular region or city, use the "By regions" tab or the "All regions" button. Such analysis is necessary to select geo-dependent queries for which your site will be promoted.

If you sell your goods and services in St. Petersburg and the region, you need to assess the popularity of queries in this region. Click on the "All regions" tab and select the appropriate city from the list that appears.

You will receive information about the popularity of the request regarding the region for which the website promotion is designed. This data is more valuable for optimization and creation of an advertising campaign than general information (by country).

Assessment of the geo-dependence of search queries helps to understand how popular a particular key phrase is among residents of a particular region. This is necessary to optimize the promotion budget. You can select geo-dependent queries that will attract the most customers to the site.

Open the "By regions" tab to find out in which cities and regions there is an increased interest in your services. Here you can see the total number of impressions per month, as well as the regional popularity.

By assessing the indicators of regional popularity, you can find out the level of demand in a particular region. If the indicator exceeds 100% - this means that there is increased interest in the region, if the value is below 100% - the interest is low. The data can be viewed in list format or on an interactive map. Choose a convenient option for yourself to analyze in detail the information on requests and regions.

Request history

The "Query History" tab is needed to assess the seasonality of demand and view its dynamics by months and weeks. If you are promoting seasonal products or services, you simply cannot do without analyzing statistics by month. Evaluating the seasonality of queries will help you select keywords for which you need to optimize your site in the first place.

SEO promotion of a website takes several months. Search engine crawlers need to index new content to add your site to SERPs and make it visible to target audiences. If you sell summer tires, then you should start promoting this request long before the onset of seasonal demand. Already in winter, you should place relevant content with keywords on the site in order to get maximum customers and high sales at the peak of demand (March-July).

The formation of popularity can be traced through the history of requests. For example, the query "thor steinar" has been used by people since 2013, and its Cyrillic counterpart "thor steinar" has been used only since 2014.

Website optimization: analyze and choose

Start the selection of requests for website promotion with an analysis. Now you are familiar with the specifics of keyword assessment in the Yandex service and will be able to work more effectively with Wordstat. Use the analysis of Yandex queries when compiling a semantic core to select those words and phrases that will bring the target audience to your site. By avoiding mistakes in the first stage of optimization, you will achieve better results in your work.

It's no secret that most of the articles on the Internet are written sharpened for certain keywords. Their use serves several purposes, the most important of which is the promotion of the resource on the World Wide Web, striving for the first lines in the search engine results, attracting a large number of visitors, mainly to the target audience. However, before you write an article aimed at solving these problems, you need to know which keywords to use. In order to help copywriters and site owners in solving this issue, there are special services. One of the most popular and authoritative is "Yandex query frequency", or Wordstat.yandex. We will tell you how to use this tool with the greatest efficiency in this article.

What is Wordstat?

Most webmasters in our country use the frequency of Yandex search queries to select keywords. What is this tool? This is a service that combines various kinds of word forms entered by users into the search bar. A person who is interested in the statistics of any query can enter any word here and find out the total number of its impressions on the Internet. In addition, all key phrases in which this word was used and the frequency of requests for each of them will be presented.

Information is displayed for a specific word / phrase, their derivatives (in another case, number, order, etc.), as well as for associative queries. That is, those that were used along with the word / phrase of interest to you. In order to see them, you need to go to the "What else were people looking for ..." tab. This function allows you to significantly expand the semantic core of the site (a set of words that have a specific topic and are used for writing articles and promoting on the Internet).

Structure of Wordstat.yandex

The resource is a string for entering words with tabs located below it. The first is called "According to words". Here you can check the frequency of queries in Yandex for specific words or phrases. Tracking this data for a certain period (say, a month or a week) is also quite simple - you just need to use the "Display History" section and select the required time period. Your attention will be presented with a graph of changes in the frequency of displays of certain words / phrases.

In order to narrow down the search area, there is a tab "By regions". Using it, you can find out the frequency of queries in Yandex for the same words, but in a specific city / region. In addition, for the purpose of concretization, SEO optimizers use the so-called operators. Let's see what they are and what they are.

Operators "Yandex.Wordstat"

For example, for a certain keyword, we are interested in a specific word form and its frequency of requests. Yandex statistics gives us this phrase in various combinations. To fix it in the desired form, use the "quotation marks" operator. Here's what it gives us (for the "best bars" query):

  • there were: the best bars in the world, in the best Moscow bars, etc .;
  • became: best bars, best bars, best bars, etc.

Let's dwell briefly on other existing operators:

  1. "Exclamation mark" - used to get the exact values of keywords, placed in front of each word. For example,! The best! Bars.
  2. Operator "minus" - excludes certain words from queries. For example, the best bars in Moscow.
  3. Operator "plus" - using it, the frequency of Yandex queries can take into account prepositions and conjunctions in order to show query results only with their use. For example, + how to wash windows.
  4. "Brackets" and "forward slash" - allow you to group several keywords in one query. For example, vouchers (buy | price | last minute). As a result, you will be able to receive information at the same time on the following queries: "Where to buy vouchers", "The price of a voucher to Egypt", "Last minute vouchers for May", etc.

Operators are actually very helpful and have a significant impact on the results obtained. So, for example, for the keyword "Buy tea store" the frequency of Yandex queries without an operator will be 2080 per month, and using "Buy! Tea store" - only 67. To select keywords, be sure to take into account these nuances, otherwise you risk stumbling for a large number of "dummy phrases".

In addition to Wordstat.yandex, there is another popular statistics service - Google Adwords. The frequency of Yandex requests may differ from the data obtained using the Google tool. Each of these systems has its own audience of users and therefore its own metrics. Therefore, in order to get the best results, it is recommended to check queries using both services, which are currently the largest ones used in our country.

Conclusion

In this article, we talked about what the frequency of Yandex requests is, how to find it out for specific words and phrases, and how to get the most accurate and useful data on them. The correct selection of keywords is very important for online promotion and attracting visitors to your resource. That is why services such as Yandex.Wordstat are very popular with SEO optimizers, copywriters, advertisers and website owners.

Before doing something on the Internet: creating a website, setting up an advertising campaign, writing an article or a book, you need to see what people are looking for, what they are interested in, what they enter in the search bar.

Search queries (key phrases and words) are most often collected in two cases:

  • Before creating a website. In this case, you need to collect as many keywords as possible to cover your entire area. After collection, search queries are analyzed and based on this, a decision is made on the structure of the site.
  • To customize contextual advertising. Not everyone chooses for advertising, but only words by which it is possible to determine interest in a product or service, preferably active interest expressed by the words “buy”, “price”, “order”, etc.

If you are going to set up contextual advertising, then.

And below we will look at how to collect statistics on search queries in popular search engines, as well as small secrets on how to do it better.

How to view Yandex request statistics

The search engine Yandex has a special service called "Word Selection" located at http://wordstat.yandex.ru/. It is very simple to use it: we enter any words and usually, in addition to statistics on these words, we also see what we were looking for along with these words.

It is very important to understand that statistics for shorter queries includes statistics for all detailed queries with these words. For example, in the screenshot the query "query statistics" includes the query "Yandex query statistics" and all other queries below.

The right column displays the queries that were searched by people looking for the query you entered. Where does this information come from? These are requests that were entered before or immediately after your request.

To see the exact number of queries for a phrase, you need to enter it in quotation marks "phrase". So, specifically the query "query statistics" was searched 5047 times.

How to view Google search statistics

Recently, the Google Trends tool has become available for Russia, it is located at http://www.google.com/trends/... It displays popular search queries recently. You can enter any of your queries to estimate its popularity.

In addition to the frequency of queries, Google will show popularity by region and similar queries.

Second way to see the frequency of Google searches - this is to use the adwords.google.ru service for advertisers. To do this, you need to register as an advertiser. In the "Tools" menu, select "Keyword Planner" and then "Get query statistics".

In the planner, in addition to statistics, you will find out the level of competition among advertisers for this request and even the approximate cost of a click, if you decide to advertise too. By the way, the cost is usually overpriced.

Mail.ru search query statistics

Mail.ru has updated the tool showing statistics of search queries http://webmaster.mail.ru/querystat. The main feature of the service is the distribution of requests by gender and age.

It can be assumed that the Yandex word search service also takes into account requests from Mail, since at the moment, the Mail.ru search engine displays Yandex advertisements, and the service is mainly intended for advertisers. And earlier, by the way, Google ads were shown in Mail.ru.

In addition, you can use this trick. The approximate distribution of the audience between search engines is as follows: Yandex - 60%, Google - 30%, Mail - 10%. Of course, depending on the audience, the ratio can change. (For example, programmers might prefer Google.)

Then you can see the statistics in Yandex and divide by 6. We get the approximate number of search queries in Mail.ru

By the way, the exact distribution of the audience between search engines for February 2014 can be seen in the screenshot below:

Rambler query statistics

From the graph above, you can already see that the Rambler search engine covers only 1% of the Internet audience. But nevertheless, they have their own keyword statistics service. It is located at: http://adstat.rambler.ru/wrds/

The principle is the same as in other services.

Even fewer of our compatriots use the Bing search engine. And to see the statistics of keywords, you will have to register as an advertiser and understand the instructions in English.

This can be done at bingads.microsoft.com, and the statistics of requests can be viewed at the stage of creating an advertising campaign:

Yahoo query statistics

In this system, as in the previous one, you need to register as an advertiser. You can see the statistics of search queries here http://advertising.yahoo.com/

How to watch Youtube search queries

Youtube also has its own statistics of search queries, which is called "Keyword Tool". It is mainly intended for advertisers, but you can use it to prescribe suitable keywords for your video.

And it looks something like this:

Bottom line.

We have considered all the popular search query selection systems. I hope this review is useful for you when writing articles, building websites, or setting up ads. If you still have questions, ask them in the comments.

Hello dear readers of the blog site. Today there will probably be a rather boring article about working with search query statistics from Yandex, Google and Rambler. Well, what could be interesting in analyzing the frequency or number of questions entered by users into search engines?

Therefore, it turns out that if you write articles yourself, then your project is simply doomed to success and high traffic, the lion's share of which will be provided by referrals from Yandex and Google (search traffic). But, unfortunately, in the real world this is far from the case, and the same notorious statistics of search queries is to blame for everything, be it wrong.

Why bother with search query statistics

The fact is that the statistics of queries from Yandex, Google or Rambler (Wordstat is usually the most popular) can cancel out all your attempts to attract users from search engines by writing interesting, absolutely unique articles, but blindly optimized for randomly selected queries.

This is exactly what happened with most of the articles on my blog site, when I nevertheless decided to conduct a full analysis of all keywords that may be relevant to my blog in Yandex statistics.

For the most part, the results upset me, although there were some successful articles that could attract visitors from a huge number of keywords at once, often with a very high frequency. But let's still start to deal with the problem of accounting for the statistics of search queries from Yandex and, to a lesser extent, Google (well, although this system can probably already be ranked among the living dead).

The problem is that working blindly (without preliminary compilation, at least for the article that you are writing at the moment), you can make a big mistake and optimize the text of the article and internal linking (anchors of links from other pages of your site to the promoted page) are not at all for those search queries that can bring you a large number of visitors.

It is very easy to miss the intuitive selection of promising queries, but then it will be very offensive to see in Yandex or Google statistics that they turned out to be dummies (i.e., search engine users rarely use just such a combination of keywords in their questions).

No, of course, if all webmasters were in the same conditions and no one had the opportunity to view and analyze statistics all in the same Yandex, then there probably would not be such a problem. But after all, the statistics of search engine users' queries are available to everyone without restrictions, and without using it, you simply put yourself in unfavorable conditions.

You should not listen to "trolls" who shout that you have lowered your SDL (a project for people) to the level of a GS (a project for making money, designed for a short life cycle), having previously compiled a small semantic core for a future article, using online services for this statistics of search queries from Yandex or Google and Rambler.

It is they from envy or from their nature "troll". But do not spam the text of the article with keywords - in this case, you can ruin everything.

Let me first give you factual information, and only then pour water about your experience with search query statistics, mostly Yandex (I can't write briefly, so there will be a lot of letters; sorry, but it seemed to me that this was all important). So the facts. Why do you think search engines like Yandex, Google or Rambler would give you the opportunity to dig into their statistics?

After all, SEOs (SEOs) have always been on the other side of the barricades in relation to search engines. Do you know why? There is no place for any fundamental considerations or ideologies there. Everything is banal and simple and, as you would expect, comes down to money, because SEOs take away from the search part of their main source of income from contextual advertising. A large number of potential clients of Direct or Adwords get visitors to their projects with the help of SEO services.

Therefore, it looks very strange that Yandex and Google open up access to search query statistics for optimizers (you and me). The answer here again is tied to the main way of making money for search engines - contextual advertising. The point is that contextual advertisers need this information to compose the most or Google Adwords. It is thanks to them that this statistics of requests is available to us too, and it would be a sin not to use it in our personal (selfish) interests.

Statistics services of Yandex, Google and Rambler

In my non-professional opinion, there are three or even four main sources of direct receipt (there are services that collect data from these services in automatic mode - parse them) of search query statistics:

How to work with Yandex query statistics

I'm not a professional SEO, so Yandex statistics are enough for me to understand the general picture and compile a semantic core, although it is possible that when promoting a project using very high-frequency phrases, it will make sense to refine the data in Rambler or Google services, but I don't need this.

A bit of theory. Searches and keywords very often confused with each other, the poet will try to clarify. A search query is a collection of words that any user types in the search bar. There are word sets that are searched very often (high-frequency queries or high-frequency), there are less popular word combinations (mid-frequency or mid-frequency), and, of course, there are rarely found word sets (low-frequency or low-frequency).

I don’t draw a clear line between these queries in terms of frequency of impressions, but it is generally believed that if a set of words has a frequency of more than 10,000 impressions per month, then it is high frequency. If a phrase has a frequency below 1,000 impressions per month, then this is LF, but the MF lies somewhere in the middle. But these figures are more than arbitrary and strongly depend on the topic.

It is clear that it is best to choose more frequent queries for the future semantic core, because if you get on the first page of the search results, you will receive a very large influx of visitors. But it will most likely be very difficult to move up the HF or MF, because there will surely be a lot of other webmasters who are just as smart as you.

Therefore, when selecting search queries for the future semantic core, both for the entire site and for a separate article, you should correctly calculate your strength - otherwise you may not get a single visitor at all on HF, because you will not be able to get even close to the Top 10 (first page of the search results).

True, there will not always be many people willing to move on to high-frequency and medium-frequency requests. There are times when the competition in HF and MF is quite low and everyone has a chance to break through. Here you need to look and analyze those sites that are in the Top for your selected request. If there are not very trusting resources, then you can try to fight.

When we have already come directly to optimization, then here we are talking about, which are, in fact, individual words from the queries you have chosen, by which you will try to advance and get into the Top (the first ten sites in the search results).

Very often, a dozen of search queries selected (as a semantic core) for this particular article may consist of just a few keywords, which you will need to use N-th number of times in the text of the article and be sure to include them in the Title. Moreover, at the beginning of the Title include the words of a more frequent query and further downward. For example, the semantic core of this article can be said to consist of:

Frequency punched according to Yandex statistics, enclosing the given words and phrases in quotation marks to weed out obvious dummies. Those. I started by typing something like "query statistics" and got a bunch of possible options with these words, as well as a bunch of associative queries in the right column. I checked each of the proposed options for real frequency of impressions using quotation marks and as a result I got the list given just above.

As you can see, with all the richness of phrases from the semantic core of the article, there are not so many keywords for which I should optimize the text. Now you just need to compose the correct Title for the page with the article, so that at the beginning there are the keys from the most frequent query, and use each keyword in the article from one to two percent of the total number of words in the article.

Be careful not to spam the text and increase the density of key occurrences to 3 or more percent - the article may be excluded from. It is better to use keywords in different word forms (do not try to cram only direct occurrences into the text), in accordance with the logic of your narration. I once mentioned that online service where you can conduct articles on the density of the keys.

As you can see, this article seems to be all right, except that only the frequency of the first word (I am not citing it, so as not to further increase the density of its occurrence), it would be necessary to decrease it. You can ignore the indicator of nausea, because it is calculated there as the square root of the most frequently used word, which means that the larger the text, the higher the nausea will be, which is not logical. Anyway, the nausea has already sunk into oblivion.

Let us summarize again. After you sketch on a piece of paper those requests (analyzing statistics in Yandex usually takes a few minutes) from which you expect to receive an influx of visitors, you will need to isolate keywords from this semantic core of the article and be sure to use them in the Title of the promoted page (which the higher the frequency - the closer to the beginning of the Title tag) and use keywords selected from the semantic core in the text of the article with frequency from 1 to 2 percent from their total number.

I confess that I started writing articles taking into account the statistics of Yandex requests only a little less than a year ago, and doing it with my eyes completely open - only about a month ago. And the reason for this is not laziness at all (I do not have much of it), but rather a certain inertia (not flexibility) in relation to something new. Well, like, I've always done this and will continue to continue in the same spirit.

But sometimes you need to take a breath, look around and understand whether you are moving in that direction. That's exactly the use of Wordstat to analyze your project and allows you to look around and change the direction of movement if necessary. For the last couple of weeks I have been trying to extract from Yandex statistics all the options that may be relevant to my blog.

I do it by hand, which is rather tedious, but on the other hand, I gradually gain an understanding of the overall picture of this whole kitchen (my eyes open). At the same time, the brain is already melting, but the analysis delays and gradually reveals obvious mistakes, and also allows define topics for future articles, because what users most often type in search engines, they are most interested in. And keeping up with the wishes of future readers is, in my opinion, a direct path to the successful development of the project.

By the way, when analyzing your project using Yandex query statistics, you may need to find out if your site already has any positions for the word or phrase you are interested in. To do this, I use the capabilities of the program, which I already wrote about, but forgot to mention the possibility of determining the visibility of the site by the keys you need using this wonderful program.

You will need to go to the Site Auditor "Selection" tab, enter the words of interest in the "Check" area and click on the arrow on the right. You will be transferred to the "Site Visibility" tab, where you will need to enter the URL of your resource and click on the "Check" button.

As a result, you will see the positions of your site for the keyword of interest in the Yandex and Google search engines. If no positions have appeared, then your project is ranked below the fiftieth in the search results.

Good luck to you! See you soon on the pages of the blog site
