The game of shadov of thief does not start. Middle-earth: Shadow of War - big page technology does not work

No matter how many scandals there are around this game, it is certainly one of the coolest, brutal and spectacular action games of our time. Animation, combat, atmosphere, everything is on top! Yes, maybe the game can become boring, the place becomes boring, the gray landscapes are just as boring. But before that, it is necessary to hack to death thousands and thousands of enemies, so that the game is boring! But naturally, this is not about that. Such a large-scale and technological game could not be deprived of various technical problems. This article is dedicated to the most common problems with the game Middle-Earth: Shadow of War and ways to eliminate them. But traditionally, before starting the game, make sure that your system meets at least the minimum requirements of the game.

The game won't start

An error occurs when starting the game error 0x80070005. This error occurs for a game purchased from Microsoft Store... The first step is to update your operating system. You should also disable the firewall.

Error 0xc00007b when starting the game. The operating system needs to be updated. Most often, this error occurs with the owners of the operating system Windows 7 Service Pack 1.

API Direct3D 11.1 not available... It is worth updating the operating system, as well as installing Internet Explorer 11... After the performed operations, you need to restart your computer.

When launched, the game immediately stops working. You need to find the file render.cfg in the game settings folder. Approximate path: C: Users (username) / Documents / WB Games / Shadow of War / find the parameter Windowed and change the value to " 2 »

At startup, the game gives an error about the absence of any dll file, then you should reinstall the game or check the integrity of the files in Steam version. It is recommended to reinstall the game with the antivirus disabled, as there is a possibility that it will overwrite the file when unpacking. You can also just find the missing one file.dll on the Internet and put it in the root folder of the game, but this is quite dangerous, since there is a possibility of downloading an infected file.

If the game freezes right on the initial splash screen, then most likely you have gamepads connected to your computers. The solution to this problem is to disable USB controllers... Leave only one, in some cases you will have to completely abandon gamepads and play with a mouse and keyboard. There is also a possibility that the game freezes due to lack of system resources. In this case, it is worth freeing up resources by disabling all unnecessary processes.

Game crashes

At the moment, no crashes related to game errors have been noticed. If they were, then they were fixed by patches.

If the game crashes without errors, then this is a consequence of a lack of system resources. Complete all unnecessary processes before starting the game. I also advise you to turn off the antivirus, as it can consume a lot of resources, I scan data in memory during the game.

Also, if the game closes and gives an error with a code like 0xXXXXXXXX, then this is an error related to the operating system, and not to the game directly. In this case, by the error code, you can find a description of the cause on the Internet and perhaps even a way to eliminate it.

The game slows down

At the moment, the game is working quite stably, and if it hangs for you, then only standard recommendations like this can help: update the drivers for the video card, free up system resources, lower the graphics level in the settings.

Other problems

Is not downloading HD Textures Pack... This package adds to the game 4K textures... The problem lies in the fact that for many players it does not load separately. In this case, you will have to completely delete the game and put it on download again, along with HD Textures Pack.

From time to time, the graphics in the game deteriorate, textures become of lower resolution. This is not a problem, but an additional configuration of the game for its stable operation. By disabling this setting, you risk getting subsidence in FPS... Customization Dynamic Resolution allows you to downsample when your system can't handle the amount of graphics. You can always disable this setting, but in this case FPS will be unstable.

Monolith Productions and WB Games have released a sequel to Shadow of Mordor. In Middle-earth: Shadow of War, the hero Talion returns to challenge Sauron and gather his army. This is a large sandbox with unique military and social elements. There are many personalized enemies in the game world who fight the hero and fight for power among themselves. Not without visual improvements and a corresponding increase in system requirements. As a result, only powerful modern video cards can handle the maximum graphics quality. What graphics accelerators allow you to play comfortably with a good picture with high or maximum settings? Let's find it out in this testing.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War uses its own Firebird Engine, which is the result of the development of the Lithtech engine. Works in DirectX 11. The game demonstrates large detailed spaces with complex surface geometry. Rough stones and uneven ground delight the eye with voluminous stones and many small irregularities. Tessellation is used, which improves the geometry of such complex surfaces and smooths the outlines on some characters.

Certain components of the game are included in free add-ons. This is a 4K Cinematic Pack with enhanced 4K video clips and a High Resolution Texture Pack. If you have a powerful PC and high-definition monitor, be sure to add these items to your Steam cart for download later. The full version of the game takes about 100 GB.

With the High Resolution Texture Pack, the game is sometimes striking in the degree of elaboration of textures. This is clearly visible in the near field of vision. General panoramas do not always show breathtaking landscapes. The dominance of gray colors and a certain uniformity in design lower the overall bar for visual perception.

The game has detailed graphics settings for different parameters and several ready-made quality profiles. It is worth noting the ability to scale the resolution right in the game, which allows you to use ultra-high resolutions without activating NVIDIA DSR. This resolution adjustment allows you to use lower resolution modes with a high-quality clear interface. There are settings for limiting the frame rate. If you choose a limit of 50-60 fps on a productive video card, this will allow it to work not at full capacity, while maintaining lower temperatures and noise. Supports NVIDIA Ansel technology.

You can better estimate the maximum quality of the graphics in our dedicated selection of 4K screenshots.

Find out who will provide optimal performance in Full HD and higher resolutions for maximum and high quality graphics. Let's compare NVIDIA and AMD video cards in different modes.

Models of different generations and different price categories will take part in testing. The characteristics of the test takers are summarized in two tables.

The description of the test configuration is below.

Test stand

  • processor: Intel Core i7-6950X @ 4.1 GHz
  • motherboard: MSI X99S MPOWER
  • memory: DDR4 Kingston HyperX HX430C15SB2K4 / 16, 3000 MHz, 4x4 GB
  • hard disk: Hitachi HDS721010CLA332, 1 TB
  • power supply: Seasonic SS-750KM
  • operating system: Windows 10 Ultimate x64
  • GeForce driver: NVIDIA GeForce 388.13
  • Radeon driver: Crimson Edition 17.11.1

For testing, the built-in gaming benchmark was used, which was run 6 times on each video card. The average fps is taken from this test, and the minimum fps is controlled using Fraps.

When tested at 1920x1080, several quality profiles are involved. Older video cards were tested only in the most difficult modes.

Let's start with the Very High settings.

This configuration of settings assumes switching textures to high quality, but even in this mode, 4 GB of video memory was used. And in fact, video cards with a smaller buffer volume cannot provide acceptable results. Even the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti shows 25-38 fps, which will suit only an extremely undemanding player. Up to 12% loses to the GeForce GTX 960 with 2 GB, but this video card is more powerful than all budget Radeon. Among the latter, the Radeon RX 560 with 4GB has the best results. You can play normally on the GeForce GTX 780 Ti. Good performance will be provided by the GeForce GTX 1060. Radeon RX 580 loses at minimum fps.

Let's compare the simplest video cards from our list with the graphics settings High.

Reducing the parameters brings the performance of the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti to an acceptable level. The results of the GeForce GTX 960 are 14% lower, which can be compensated for by overclocking. For the rest of the video cards, you will have to lower the graphics quality even more.

Now let's compare the older video cards with the maximum graphics. The Ultra settings profile is selected.

With these settings, the game uses the maximum quality of textures, and the benchmark already loads 8 GB of video memory. Unfortunately, we had at our disposal a Radeon RX 480 with 4 GB (aka Radeon RX 580 with higher frequencies), and it clearly did not have enough memory. The extremely low minimum fps on the Radeon is clearly due to the low memory footprint. However, the GeForce GTX 780 Ti does not show such serious drawdowns with a smaller volume. This means NVIDIA solutions make better use of the available memory and provide smoother performance even with a small footprint. The 6GB GeForce GTX 1060 performs well in average frame rates, but drops below 40 fps are possible. The most demanding gamers will be satisfied with the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti, this card with a powerful GPU and 8 GB memory will provide 60-96 fps. The Radeon RX Vega 64 has similar performance, the AMD flagship is slightly better in average frame rates. GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is beyond competition, the gap from Radeon RX Vega 64 reaches 23-45%.

Moving on to higher resolutions. First, let's compare video cards at 2560x1440 with the Very High settings.

The GeForce GTX 1060 is approximately on a par with the Radeon RX 580. Their potential is not enough for a comfortable gaming process, an additional reduction in parameters is needed. The GeForce GTX 1070 Ti allows you to play comfortably in high resolution, the gap between the Radeon RX Vega 64 increases. The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti has the highest performance.

Against the background of the low results of the GeForce GTX 1060 and Radeon RX 580, the comparison in Ultra-mode was carried out only for the older video cards.

The GeForce GTX 1070 Ti maintains good performance, although performance drops by 9%. The drop in results is more serious for the Radeon RX Vega 64, in terms of the minimum fps it is worse than the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti. AMD's flagship is clearly lacking in video memory. The advantage of the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti over the Radeon RX Vega 64 reaches 25-51%.

The final test for senior cards will be 4K testing.

At graphics settings below the maximum level, the Radeon RX Vega 64 retains a good advantage over the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti, but after increasing the settings with high-resolution textures, the difference between them decreases. The undemanding gamer will be able to play the Radeon RX Vega 64 in 4K with Very High graphics. However, a comfortable gaming process can only be talked about on the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti.

The flagship NVIDIA model also allows you to use Ultra-mode. An illustration of this is a 4K video with a cut of different game moments. The video was recorded on a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti with maximum graphics (only instead of TAA anti-aliasing, FXAA is active).

The frame counter in the corner shows that the frame rate is kept in the range of 50-60 fps, in rare moments it drops to 40 fps. The download of video memory reaches 9.5 GB.

conclusions

Never before have battles with orcs been so detailed. Middle-earth: Shadow of War pleases with clear textures and embossed surfaces, but you have to pay for this with high system requirements. If you want to play at Ultra-graphics in Full HD with Hi-Res textures, then you need a video card not weaker than a GeForce GTX 1060 6GB. With its powerful GPU and high memory capacity, the GeForce GTX 1080 and GeForce GTX 1070 Ti can deliver good performance at 2560x1440. With 4K mode at maximum graphics, the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti will do well. The Radeon RX Vega 64 will deliver high performance at 2560x1440, but 3840x2160 will need to be reduced to Very High.

The difference between graphics in Ultra and Very High modes is not critical, but noticeable in textures. A downgrade to Very High will speed up graphics cards with a limited amount of onboard memory well, but even here you need at least 4 GB. This mode is suitable for GeForce GTX 780 Ti or Radeon RX 470/480/570/580 with 4GB. Owners of the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti will have to be content with graphics of the High level, the Very High mode is possible with overclocking, but at a low frame rate.

Middle-earth: Shadows of War. The game does not load at the beginning of the siege of the Nurnen fortress.

Good day to all! Faced a strange problem: at the beginning of the assault on the fortress of Nurnen (according to the plot, the first such assault), the game hangs with ends at the moment where the video should begin (judging by the passage on YouTube). Instead, there is a black screen with a loading icon and silence. The computer is quite powerful, the game flies. I checked the integrity of the cache, reinstalled it - it does not help. In the game it is 42 hours - it is obdino to replay, and there is no certainty that history will not repeat itself. At this point, Talion is level 25. All captains are recruited, as are the chiefs (maybe this is the reason?). All possible additional missions (for Celebrimbor, to search for Shelob's memories and Gondorian relics) have been completed. Help..

my friend, I have exactly the same problem, hung on the siege of Nurn - also an eternal load, Talion lvl 25 ...... there is nothing to do, I run and perform network windettes, it makes no sense to go through it again - I read on the forum - one dude has already done this did not help ... maybe this is due to the recent patch, and apparently we will have to wait for the next one ... but this is a bummer of the century
I downloaded the game today! I manually removed and re-installed the newest driver (I have Nvidia). Try it too ...

Developed by Monolith Productions, Middle-earth: Shadow of War is now available on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. According to reviews of the PC version of the game, Skylake i5 paired with a GTX 1080 should allow you to run the game in ultra settings and at 1440p without any freezes.

Playing the new part of Middle-earth: Shadow of War in 4K, on the other hand, can already be somewhat problematic. However, many different problems and errors have been encountered by PC users while playing Middle-earth: Shadow of War, and in our today's article we will discuss them.

Solutions for various problems in Middle-earth: Shadow of War

Before we start digging into the problems with Middle-earth: Shadow of War and looking for solutions, it is recommended that you check your PC against the stated system requirements from Monolith Productions.

System requirements Middle-earth: Shadow of War

Minimum system requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 SP1 with platform update
  • Processor: AMD FX-4350, 4.2 GHz / Intel Core i5-2300, 2.80 GHz
  • RAM: 6 GB of RAM
  • Video card: AMD HD 7870, 2 GB / NVIDIA GTX 660, 2 GB
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Disk space: 70 GB
  • Optional: x64 required
  • OS: Windows 10 Creative Update
  • Processor: AMD FX-8350, 4.0 GHz / Intel Core i7-3770, 3.4 GHz
  • RAM: 12 GB RAM
  • Video card: AMD RX 480, 4 GB or RX580, 4GB / NVIDIA GTX 970 4, GB or GTX1060, 6GB
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Network: Broadband internet connection
  • Disk space: 70 GB
  • Optional: x64 required

As you can see, the game is pretty democratic with the PC players. The only thing that surprised me a little was 12 gigabytes in the recommended requirements. But, given that it is already 2017, soon this amount of RAM for games will become the norm.

So, we figured out the formalities, you are convinced that your PC will "pull" the game and we are ready to move on to the main part of the article - solving problems with Middle-earth: Shadow of War.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War - Direct3D Error 11.1 API Is Not Available

Numerous PC players indicated that they encountered a bug in Middle-earth: Shadow of War while trying to play. This error most often appears on Windows 7 and asks users to update the system, although the latest updates are already installed in it.

However, as it turned out, the solution to the Direct3D 11.1 API Is Not Available error in Middle-earth: Shadow of War is quite simple and was constantly right in front of the nose. All you need to do is download and install Internet Explorer 11 and then restart your computer. Yes, that’s how simple it is.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War - HD Textures Pack won't load

This is one of those problems in Middle-earth: Shadow of War faced by players looking to play the game with 4K textures. Despite the fact that this texture pack is distributed completely free of charge, many users simply could not download it for themselves.

This problem in most cases occurs for those players who previously downloaded Middle-earth: Shadow of War without HD Textures Pack. Currently, this problem can only be solved by completely uninstalling the game, and then re-downloading and installing it. If you do this, the HD Textures Pack will be included in your game.

You can also try one more thing: go to the game page on Steam and click on the add button next to HD Textures Pack. This still won't start downloading the zoomed textures, but if you keep clicking this button, Steam will queue the pack for download.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War - bug with audio / high frequency squeak

Some players, having launched Middle-earth: Shadow of War, instead of a normal sound, heard on their computers some squeaks or sound from the game, but of an incredibly low quality. It didn't take long for a solution to this problem was found.

It lies in the too high quality of the sound format on users' computers. To fix the sound in Middle-earth: Shadow of War, you need to right-click on the speaker icon in the Start Taskbar and select "Playback Devices".

Then double click on your audio device such as speakers or speakers. Now go to the "Advanced" tab. Click on the drop-down menu for the default format and select "16-bit, 48000 Hz". Save your sound settings, enter Middle-earth: Shadow of War and enjoy the game.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War - soapy graphics / textures

Having downloaded and entered Middle-earth: Shadow of War, many players were not satisfied with the quality of the picture: it is completely fuzzy, one might even say - soapy. The same goes for textures. However, this is not a problem at all, but a special setting in Middle-earth: Shadow of War, which lowers the picture quality.

Go to the graphical settings of the game and find the item "Dynamic resolution" there. Disable it completely and the graphics in the game will be crystal clear. This option is needed to maintain a stable frame rate. If the FPS in the game starts to behave unstable, then Dynamic Resolution will automatically lower the resolution of the game's render.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War - the game is not displayed on the main monitor

It turns out that Middle-earth: Shadow of War also has problems when working on multiple monitors. Some users note that the game runs only on the second monitor, but not on the main one. However, a solution already exists. All you need to do is go to the graphics settings of the game and set it to full screen mode.

Once you set this mode, press the Alt + Enter combination to switch Middle-earth: Shadow of War to windowed mode. Then grab and drag the game window onto your main monitor. Now press Alt + Enter again. Middle-earth: Shadow of War will now constantly launch on the main monitor.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War - the game freezes on the splash screen

Some users report that their copy of the game may freeze right on the splash screen. This problem, as it was already found out, is somehow connected with the connection of several controllers via the USB interface. If you have several gamepads connected to your computer, then disconnect one while playing Middle-earth: Shadow of War and the problem will be solved. If the freeze still occurs, try updating your graphics card driver to the latest version.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War - low FPS / jerky / low performance

Most players, faced with low performance or stuttering in Middle-earth: Shadow of War, were able to fix the problem with two simple steps: updating the drivers for their video card and launching the game on a discrete graphics accelerator.

The second step applies to users who have both discrete and integrated graphics on their system. If you have a discrete graphics card, then never even try to run any heavy applications or video games on it - it is not designed for this!

Middle-earth: Shadow of War - screen flickering

If you encounter some sort of flickering on the screen, then the problem can be solved simply by switching to Windowed mode without a frame. Unfortunately, at the moment this is the only solution to the problem with flickering in Middle-earth: Shadow of War.

Found a typo? Select the text and press Ctrl + Enter

Basically, this error occurs in Windows 7 users and asks players to update Windows even though they have all the latest updates installed.

However, the fix for this error is quite simple and unexpected. All you have to do is download IE 11 (Internet Explorer 11) and restart your system. Also try installing fresh DirectX and Visual C ++.

Music / sound issues in Shadow of War

Go to your audio settings by right-clicking on the audio icon in the lower right corner of your screen. Select "Play devices", then open the properties of the device that is turned on - for most, this will be "Speakers".

In the properties select "Advanced" and change the default format to 16 bit, 48000 Hz.

Blurry textures / graphics in Shadow of War

Go to game options and turn off "Dynamic Resolution".

Shadow of War freezes on the start screen

In some cases, this issue is related to multiple devices connected to your system via USB. Just turn them off and you should be fine. If the problem persists, update your graphics card drivers.

Low FPS / Freezes in Shadow of War

- Download the latest video drivers.

Disable all anti-virus programs.

Press Ctrl + Alt + Del and in the task manager find the ShadowofWar.exe process. Set it to a high priority.

Disable Vsync and make sure Shadow of War matches your desktop resolution.

Try running the game in full screen and then in a window to see if there are any performance changes.

Make sure you are using a discrete graphics card (AMD / Intel) and not an integrated one (for example, Intel HD Graphics).
