It is no secret that many children like to draw colorful creatures, creatures and animals, and that is why it will be fun for a child to draw a butterfly. A butterfly drawn with a simple pencil looks great, but if you paint such a butterfly with paints, it will become very bright and attractive.

Butterfly drawing sequence

I would like to tell you and show you how to draw a beautiful butterfly together with your child in stages. For beginners, this lesson will not seem difficult, because each stage is scheduled in steps. We will draw in the following sequence:

  • Butterfly body
  • Upper wings
  • Lower wings
  • Wing patterns

Well, let's draw a butterfly with a pencil.

Step 1

The first step in drawing a butterfly is very simple - you just need to draw a small line as long as the body of your beautiful butterfly.

Step 2

Now, around this line, we will draw two rounded lines - one longer, the other shorter, and on top we will draw a circle that will represent the head of the butterfly. From the head, you need to draw beautiful antennae of the butterfly, thanks to which it can navigate in space.

Step 3

You can start drawing the upper wings. They can be of any shape you like - both rounded and with sharp ends. It is desirable that they are the same size and shape, otherwise the butterfly pattern will turn out to be asymmetrical.

Step 4

Now sketch out the lower wings of the butterfly. Usually the lower wings are slightly larger than the upper ones, so if you draw a little more of them, it will add realism to the butterfly pattern. Again, the bottom wings can be of any shape, for example, if you drew the top wings with rounded edges, then the lower ones can have sharp or straight ends and corners.

Step 5

We remove the very first line so that it does not interfere with us. Now you can fill the butterfly wings with patterns. Remember that butterfly wings are very delicate and even transparent. Drawings on the wings can be any, you can draw what you want - circles, lines and other patterns. We move from the center of the wings to the edges.

Step 6

Continue filling the wings with patterns. They may not be the same, so the butterfly will look even more interesting.

Step 7

Draw patterns step by step to the end of the wings. Now you can move on to the bottom of the butterfly.

Step 8

On the lower wings of the butterfly, I draw very few patterns, and make them more geometric than on the upper ones.

Hooray, we drew a beautiful butterfly in stages! To make her even more beautiful, you can add shadows to her wings, paint her with crayons or paints in the most unimaginable colors.

As you can see, drawing a butterfly is easy even with a child. Children can themselves come up with any pattern for a butterfly drawing and choose colors. I hope the step-by-step drawing lesson was useful to you, and you learned how to draw a butterfly step by step with a pencil.

Hello! Today we are going to tell you how to draw a butterfly! This is the first insect that has appeared on our website at the moment. Unless we drew earlier, but this, of course, is an arthropod. And it was much more difficult to draw it - today's butterfly is very simple, except for the stages with a pattern on the wings.

But they will not be particularly difficult if you stick to the order and carefully consider the schemes that our artists offer for you. Let's start the lesson and find out!

Step 1

Let's start drawing with such a small circle.

Step 2

Step 3

Now let's outline the wide wings. More precisely, only the upper contours. By the way, on our site there are many lessons for drawing flowers, so you can draw a butterfly sitting on.

Step 4

Next, we will draw the lower edges of the wings and a line that will separate the actual upper parts of the wings and the lower ones. The dividing line looks like a horizontal line that runs through almost all of our drawing. it crosses the torso of the butterfly at the top (note that it is at the top, not in the middle).

Step 5

We draw the antennae of our butterfly, draw out the lateral edges of the wings. The contours of the edges should be symmetrically jagged, but smooth.

Step 6

If you wanted to know, you have to deal with the patterns on her wings. In this step, everything is quite simple, you need to draw patterns on the upper parts of her wings. We recommend that you first draw the largest figures - the one below and the one that is closest to the butterfly's body.

Step 7

But here it will be more difficult. There are many lines, you can get confused if you don't follow the order. But we decided to make a small diagram on which we highlighted in red what should be drawn first.

This is how it would look without the markup:

Step 8

We conclude our lesson by drawing ovals on the areas free from the main patterns. Please note that the ovals should be symmetrical. Also note that if you see a clear asymmetry in the pattern, then you made a mistake in some of the previous steps.

Look at the illustrations for the lesson not as pictures of a butterfly drawn in pencil, but as diagrams, trace the sequence and identify the error.

This was a step by step drawing lesson on how to draw a butterfly with a pencil step by step. Take a look at our VK page, there are many interesting things waiting for you!

Butterflies are, of course, one of the most beautiful insects that can leave almost no one indifferent. They are quite widespread, so in the summer you can draw from nature a cabbage butterfly or, for example, a peacock's eye. Every painter knows how to draw a butterfly, but for novice artists, drawing this graceful insect is often difficult. But in order to achieve success, as a rule, it is enough to know the structural features of a particular butterfly, as well as try to achieve symmetry in your drawing, that is, so that the right and left parts of the body, including the wings, are practically the same. Explaining to a child how to draw a butterfly in stages is not at all difficult - after all, kids love bright and colorful objects and are happy to learn how to draw this wonderful insect.
Before you draw a butterfly with a pencil, and then paint it, you need to prepare:
one). A piece of paper;
2). Multi-colored pencils;
3). Pencil;
4). Eraser;
5). Pen - best of all gel black.

If all the items that were listed above are ready, then you can draw the butterfly in stages with a pencil, and then paint it:
1. Draw a vertical line. Mark the beginning and end of the line, and then divide it into two approximately equal parts;
2. Focusing on these marks, draw two rectangles, and in their middle outline the body of the butterfly;
3. In the upper rectangle draw two large wings;
4. In the lower rectangle draw two more wings;
5. Draw the body and head of the butterfly;
6. Using light lines, sketch out the outlines of the pattern on the wings. When learning how to draw a butterfly, remember that each species has a specific color and pattern on the wings. In this case, it is a peacock butterfly;
7. Circle the sketch with a pen;
8. Having erased the extra lines with an eraser, start coloring the image. First, paint over the head and body of the butterfly, using for this, in addition to a black pencil, red-brown and light brown shades;
9. With black pencil, draw a pattern on the upper wings;
10. Pencils of yellow, brown and black tones paint over the edges of the upper wings;
11. After adding a blue pencil, continue painting the upper wings of the insect;
12. With a dark red pencil, shade in the main part of the upper wings. Then draw the veins with dark blue and black shades;
13. With light brown and black pencils, paint the edges of the lower wings;
14. Paint over the central part of the lower wings with a dark red pencil, and then draw veins on them with black.
The peacock butterfly drawing is completely ready! Now you know how to draw a butterfly, as well as how to color it correctly with colored pencils!

Having decided to write about how to draw a butterfly with a pencil in stages, I realized that there should not be a simple instruction with photographs of a master class of other people or their videos. At the same time, I will show you how I will follow the recommendations for beginners together with you, so that we have the most beautiful of the beautiful, the most winged of the winged, and the most unusual of the original, flower moths! Go!

First step. Draw a cocoon

How to draw a butterfly? Where to begin? Surprisingly, in order for our picture to come out even and beautiful, we need a ruler. Knowing myself, I also equipped myself with an elastic band to wipe off what would spoil the picture.

What we need:

  • Colour pencils;
  • Paper;
  • Ruler;
  • Grater.
So, we begin to draw a butterfly in stages with a pencil from a cocoon. It should be a little thinner than the egg, but at the same time thicker than we associate the cocoon from which our moth will emerge.

Draw a line across our cocoon, so that its upper part consists of 2/3 of the cocoon. This I took the simplest example of how to draw a butterfly with a pencil in stages.

Second step. Making wings

It's time to draw the wings. They differ in shape and size. The lower ones are extended vertically, the upper ones are slightly horizontal.

I measure the same line segment to the left and right of the cocoons. This is where the upper and lower wings will touch. How do I draw the lower wings? They emanate from one point at the bottom of the cocoon. The upper ones do not touch at the top.

Their shape may not be ideal, but it is advisable to try to make them rounded and symmetrical to one another (upper to the upper, and the lower wing to the lower).

Step three. We draw a mustache for our Monarch

we add butterflies with an important detail. In those places where the upper wings extend from the cocoon, we will have antennae. We make a loop at the top of each drawn antennae.

At the same point, you need to slightly change the cocoon, making it already towards the bottom. Now it looks more believable.

An example of how to draw a butterfly in stages, I took from my childhood lessons in an art studio. But you can choose a more "adult" image of our noble "moth", making it more like the real one.

Fourth step. Let our beauty have patterns on the wings!

You can choose any pattern. But the most traditional is circles and streaks. How to learn to draw patterns? I made them very simple: there are two circles on each wing - one larger, it will be located closer to the edge of each wing. The second one is closer to the cocoon, and I will draw it in a smaller size.

In this image, you need to paint with patterns and the "little body" of the moth. Several stripes run across it in arcs. You can learn how to draw a butterfly with amazing patterns, come up with or take an idea on the site.

Fifth step. Removing excess

Let's take a look at our masterpiece. It is not perfect, but it is already clear that the "mole" depicted on it promises to become a beauty. And in this we can help her, if we carefully erase all unnecessary details and lines that helped us to draw her with an elastic band. Now they are not needed and we carefully remove them. Then, draw a butterfly, and outline its contours with a pencil.

Sixth step. Painting pictures with colored pencils

The most pleasant moment has come, all the details need to be painted and then our ward should "come to life". Let's use colored pencils. We drew a butterfly, but it can and should be made colorful and colorful. That is why I paint her body yellow, paint the wings with a red pencil, and make decorative spots on the wings blue and orange.

But our Monarch (and this is definitely him, judging by the beauty) will look even more beautiful against a bright background. Therefore, I draw a leaf. As if our lovely creature is sitting on a piece of paper and has set its wings to the sun! Beauty!

If you are interested in learning how to draw a butterfly on a flower, then you can use the same technique as with a leaf. We "plant" a ready-made moth on a chamomile, cornflower or other flower arrangement.

With your participation, I managed to draw a beautiful butterfly. This is a very simple drawing technique. It is easy to learn for someone who has never been friends with pencils, and even for children it will not be difficult. Parents who want to usefully spend time with their babies can draw such a moth with them.

Perhaps one day a child will surprise adults when he gives not a purchased postcard with a photo, but one made by himself. And his craft will be decorated with a drawing of an adorable butterfly!

The talent for drawing can not only be given by nature - it is easy to develop if you train hard. You should start with simple pictures, such as a butterfly. It can be done in several techniques at once using a pencil or watercolor if you need a brighter and more vivid drawing.

How to draw a butterfly step by step

Before drawing a butterfly, you need to decide on the stages, because in order it is much easier to do this, especially for beginners. The sequence of creating a picture of a colorful creation is as follows:

  • body;
  • upper wings;
  • lower wings;
  • patterns on the upper and lower wings.

An important point is the color of the insect. After drawing the patterns on the wings with a pencil, they begin this process. You can use paints, markers, or colored pencils. Although if you leave it that way, the drawing will serve as a coloring for children who can show their imagination. Another important nuance is the auxiliary lines that will help beginners in drawing, but they will need to be erased with an eraser at the end of the picture.

Pencil

Pencil execution has several basic steps. By following simple instructions, you will get a beautiful picture. Here's how to draw a butterfly with a pencil step by step (instructions for beginners):

  1. Draw in the center a straight line as long as the body of the insect.
  2. At the top, draw a circle that will serve as a head, and from it, on both sides of a straight line, draw 2 wavy ones - they are the body of an insect. From the circle up symmetrically draw 2 smooth lines with curls at the ends - these are antennae.
  3. Construct a rectangle centered on the previously drawn straight line. Draw diagonals and center lines inside, and divide the bottom side into 12 parts. Count 2 parts on both sides and connect these points to the upper corners - you get a trapezoid.
  4. Place the upper wings in the 2 upper rectangles, placing them in the diagonal direction, while the side edge should coincide with the side of the trapezoid.
  5. Having chosen the shape of the lower wings, for example, in the form of a rose or a drop, draw them according to the same principle as the upper ones.
  6. Erase additional lines with an eraser, draw the contours of the wings at your discretion, and sketch symmetrical veins inside them.
  7. Trace the contours of the finished painting.

Watercolor

The picture can be left in pencil form, or you can continue to paint with watercolors. To do this, you need several tools:

  • watercolor paper of the required format, A4 or A3 is enough for a larger picture;
  • a jar for water;
  • watercolor paints;
  • palette;
  • squirrel brushes No. 3 and No. 8.

For a watercolor painting, you need a pencil base. To do it, use the instructions above. After completing the picture in pencil, you can start painting it with watercolors. Here's how to paint a butterfly with paints:

  1. Watercolor drawings have a transparent structure, so erase not only the auxiliary lines, but also a little basic ones with an eraser, so that you can easily distinguish the outline, but at the same time they do not show through the paint.
  2. Use a larger brush to fill the wings with blue or any color you like.
  3. Take a smaller brush, dilute brown paint on the palette with water and cover the areas between the veins with it.
  4. If you have mastered the basic lessons on how to draw butterflies, then you can use various sketches and complete drawings more difficult. In addition, it is worth trying methods of painting with oil or even with your hands, which will especially appeal to children: you can hang their drawings on the wall so that the kid will be proud of his work. For easier drawing in the initial stages, sketches and photographs of finished pictures will help you as examples.

You don't have to be an artist to understand how to draw a beautiful butterfly with a pencil step by step. When making a drawing, you do not want to flutter a thick caterpillar with wings in a circle? Then this article will be useful to you. In front of the surprised child, the lines on the paper will gradually turn into a beautiful butterfly.

Step by step drawing of a butterfly with a pencil

Like fresh flowers, moths fly in summer over green lawns and city flower beds. The child looks at the beauties with admiration, and when he comes home, he tries to draw them on paper with a pencil on his own. After several unsuccessful attempts, the baby asks for your help. How to draw a beautiful butterfly? It seems to be very easy to do, but drawing that is far from the original will not satisfy your inquisitive preschooler. He himself will draw a caterpillar with two circles instead of wings. The child looks at you with hope, and is waiting for a miracle. Try this simple step-by-step guide to feel like a real artist. Below is a description of how to draw a butterfly with a pencil step by step:
Step 1. First, mark up the sheet. Draw a thin vertical line with a simple pencil. Draw the body of a butterfly so that the line passes exactly in the middle of the image: at the top of the head, then the chest and abdomen.

Step 2. For the wings, draw with a pencil two symmetrical lines extending from the bottom of the butterfly's chest horizontally in both directions. Arcs are drawn across the abdomen, making it striped. Soon the butterfly will have wings, and it will become just like a real one.

Step 3. Next, draw with a pencil symmetrical semicircles of the lower wings of the butterfly. For the upper wings, two rays going up are drawn from the main horizontal lines. Small dashes are drawn on the head of the butterflies - these will be antennae.

Step 4. Now you can completely draw the upper wings, connecting the upper points of the rays with arcs to the base of the head. To check how symmetrically the lower wings were drawn, two rays are drawn on both sides of the butterfly's body, going down at the same angle. All irregularities in the drawing are corrected with an eraser and a pencil.

Step 5. Finish drawing in stages, decorating the moth as they wish. Erase excess markings on the torso that helped create a symmetrical pattern. The edges of the wings are made more rounded and embossed. Draw large eyes and curved antennae with a pencil.

You can spy on a beautiful pattern on the wings of a moth in nature or draw it yourself.
On a note! It is important to make sure that the pattern is symmetrical on the right and left wings.
Scientists believe that 100 thousand described species of Lepidoptera are only half of those existing on Earth. The other half of the beautiful moths, unknown to man, may well resemble the butterfly that you want to draw. The most interesting thing about drawing a butterfly with a pencil step by step is a wide variety of options. Beautiful moths differ not only in patterns on the wings, but also in shape - in moths, cabbage and swallowtail, they are different in shape and size. A butterfly can fly, sit on a beautiful flower, or flutter on a piece of paper in a multi-colored round dance. This drawing is a great exercise for developing children's imagination. You have done a miracle - you helped the kid draw a butterfly in stages with a pencil, and now do not interfere with his further creativity.

Video for children how to draw a beautiful butterfly

Another one about how to draw a real butterfly in stages, without using the sheet layout. If it doesn't work the first time, don't worry. With some experience in drawing, you can see all the proportions by eye, create a drawing quickly and easily, as in this video.

Butterflies are wonderful and very beautiful creatures of our planet. They appear every summer and are pleasing to the eye. Today we will learn how to draw a butterfly with a pencil, and then we will color it. This lesson is suitable for children, adults, novice artists and, of course, experienced artists :)

Drawing this beautiful creature is no big deal. The only difficulty you may face is the symmetry of the wings. But it doesn't matter, the more you practice, the faster you will learn how to draw them correctly.

How to draw a butterfly in stages

Finally, it's time to draw our insect, draw our butterfly with a pencil!

Stage 1
The first step is the easiest step. We draw a straight line, the line must be straight. This is an auxiliary line and it marks the length of the torso and divides it in half.

Stage 2
The second step is a little more difficult than the first, but we are sure that you can handle it anyway. Draw a torso divided into two parts. At the same time, the lower part of the body is slightly larger than the upper one.

Also at this step we make a circle, which will be the head of our butterfly, and draw long antennae.

Stage 3
It's time for the wings. We will draw them in stages, first the upper part, and in the next step the lower one.

So, usually in butterflies, the upper wings are much larger than the lower ones and they grow, respectively, from the upper body. In our case, they have a triangular shape and are almost the same size as the lower ones. If you don't like the triangular shape, then you can easily draw any other shape.

Stage 4
Now we are working on the lower wings. They are rounded, large and far beyond the body line that we drew in the first step. If you haven't noticed, then the upper wings should also extend beyond this line.

The most difficult thing in drawing a butterfly is to make symmetrical wings, of course, if you work on a computer, then it will not be difficult for you to achieve symmetry, but if you draw a butterfly with a pencil on paper, then you may have problems. Therefore, please be patient and use an eraser :)

Stage 5
Now comes the most enjoyable stage in drawing a butterfly. We are working on the patterns on the wings! Patterns can be very diverse, namely round, linear, monochromatic, multi-colored, etc.

So, we make the symmetry of the patterns on the right and left.

6 stage
Patterns are not wings, they can be symmetrical or not symmetrical at all. Even if you want to draw a butterfly with completely different patterns on different wings, then this is quite normal.

7 stage
Finish the patterns on the upper wings.

8 stage
You already know a lot about the pattern, so try to come up with a pattern of your own for the lower wings.

9 stage
At the last stage, we color our butterfly and it is ready.

There are endless variations of butterfly drawing. Experiment with colors, shapes, patterns, sizes and you will have wonderful creations.

Another option for drawing a butterfly

Children are very fond of draw butterflies probably because butterflies have an unusually beautiful and bright color. You can draw a butterfly with a simple pencil, but still pictures of butterflies drawn with paints are much more spectacular. In this lesson, we will learn how to correctly draw the shape of the torso and wings of a butterfly. Step by step we will draw the patterns of the butterfly's wings, create shadows. And if you paint the butterfly with paints instead of a pencil, then the butterfly in the picture will turn out like a real one. let's try draw a butterfly pencil, step by step.

1. Let's draw the general outlines of the butterfly

Before drawing the butterfly, you need to make the initial outlines. To do this, draw an oval and a circle - these will be the initial outlines of the calf and head. These initial shapes will help you draw the butterfly correctly in the future. In the first step, draw two more pairs of lines, the same as in my drawing. They will help you draw butterfly wings.

2. Draw the outlines of the wings and head

First of all, draw antennae with thickenings at the edges, and it will already become clear that this is butterfly drawing... Also add the upper fenders and the lower wing liners. Add a rounded outline to the top of the lower wings. Try to make the initial contours as accurate as possible, because the entire drawing of the butterfly will depend on the initial marking.

3. Draw the general outline of the wings

This step is very simple. You only need to connect the previous lines into one general outline of the butterfly's wings. Draw these lines without pressing hard on the pencil. You will have to fix them in the next step.

4. The contours of the butterfly's wings in detail

Drawing in this step is also easy. The shape of the butterfly's wings has an "irregular" shape and there are no special rules for how to draw them. Draw these outlines as you like best, the main thing is that the wings of the butterfly are symmetrical on both sides.

5. Draw veins on the wings

The butterfly's wings are very delicate and sometimes even transparent. But there are veins inside the wings that you need to draw. Draw them randomly, the main thing is not too many and that they are symmetrical. You see, learning how to draw a butterfly is not difficult at all. You just need to follow the step-by-step instructions exactly and as a result you will get such a beautiful picture of a butterfly. However, first come up with the patterns for the wings. There are butterflies that have huge eyes on their wings. In this way, nature helps them protect themselves from birds that want to feast on a butterfly. Try to also draw such a pattern on the wings, there will be a very effective picture.

6. Add patterns and finish drawing the butterfly

If you don't know how to use paints, color the butterfly with colored pencils or shade the drawing with a simple pencil. Drawing a butterfly is quite simple. But there are certain difficulties, for example, the rough surface of the wings. Try this with pencil strokes pointing in one direction. Then you can rub these strokes with your finger or other improvised objects, such as paper or a hard eraser. There are so many patterns on the wings that you can draw any that you think of yourself. But almost all garden butterflies have a black outline on their wings. And in the cabbage butterfly, there are rare lines with circles.

You managed to draw a beautifully butterfly, then try to draw also a dragonfly. Do you think you cannot draw such a beautiful dragonfly as in my drawing? And you try, the main thing is to take a sharper pencil, because the lines of the dragonfly drawing should be very thin and clear.

Everyone has probably tried to draw a rose, but not everyone succeeds. In fact, drawing a rose is easy, you just need to remember its features. In this lesson, we will be able to draw a rose in stages. To make the rose look realistic, you can draw a butterfly sitting on a leaf or rosebud.
